I won't do Sunday lunch here again - they were too busy, food quality not as god asit has been during weekday evenings and the live singer was so loud that we could not hear ourselves talk. Beef joint was not tender, and grouse was literally raw (so had to go back).

The restaurant is loud with chatter but very nicley paired with live music by the bar which resonates throughout the lofty dining room. A perfect place for Sunday lunch and not too badly priced for a special occasion. The food was good, nothing amazing, but good quality and good portions (which in my opinion counts for a lot on a lazy Sunday!). The drinks were also fantastic. I had several pistachio sours which were great (although a bit pricey!). Overall a great meal and restaurant.

Roast has a very nice and elegant environment, just a bit ruined by the too loud live music and the loud speaking crowd - it's not a quiet place for a romantic dinner. The food is quite good and prepared with attention to details. Rations are a bit small, but still better than other high rated places. Service is just fair, waiters has not such great care for their customers.

The food was very good but let down by rushed, chaotic service. Wrong starter brought to table, fine not received until halfway through the starter (bear in mind this is including the delay as the wrong starter was changed), wrong cutlery on the table and lastly a main fish dish which was bought to the table missing the actual fish! Apologies were profuse and a bottle of fizz given but this is a restaurant charging top dollar. I doubt I would go again.

Soup had a skin of garlic in it,and my wife's starter had a very tiny caterpillar on the side of the plate, even though they looked after us with a free glass of wine each and discount on our food, we will never go back or recommend it to anyone, which is a real shame as we were both so looking forward to going there for the first time On a side note our table watch scratched and the carpet was in need of a deep clean

This was my second meal at Roast and I recommended it to my friend for her partner's birthday lunch. There was a good menu selection. Food was tasty and the portions just about right. The service was not as good as I remembered. The table was not wiped between courses and as a result there were bits left on the surface. The main course plates were taken away from two diners while the others were still eating. I had alerted the staff that it was a guest's birthday but there was no recognition.

Met friends here for brunch on a Saturday. They went for the Scottish borough and I the veggie borough. Friend and I both found hair in our dish which was disappointing. I showed mine at the start and they took it back to the kitchen but my friend was half way through her meal when she found hers. Drink I'd ordered didn't come so I had to remind them and to be fair they didn't charge me for it. Overall food was nice, despite hair, and the venue itself was nice.

A group of old college friends stayed at Premier Inn County Hall and marched down early on Saturday morning to a fantastic breakfast at Roast. I have been many times and it is always a real treat. It certainly was the highlight of my weekend food wise and the others felt the same although I think one was slightly disappointed in the sparcity of her eggs Royal! Needs better presentation. We did the two for one deal and wish to repeat it on Friday. Can you help?

Thoroughly enjoy dining at Roast though we did have a couple of issues with orders this time round. Great atmosphere - not too nosiy like some. These two hour table limits annoy me too...as I have yet to find a restaurant that justifies throwing it's customers out before they are ready.

Roast is beautifully presented and modern. The staff were friendly, attentive, intelligent. The ambience on a Sunday lunchtime was bustling and vibrant. Food was ok but there were a few elementary mistakes. Our side of carrots were too hard to eat, practically raw. Plates weren't really warmed and so anything not served in a particular serving dish was a little cold. It is personal taste but the chips served with my main were extremely salty. We found the meat and fish to be well cooked though with particular highlights being a haggis scotch egg starter and the Trinity Burnt Cream dessert - actually all the desserts were a hit! :) Great to see children and babies so well catered for in a quality, grown up restaurant.

I recently took some European friends to Roast as a perfect example of good British food and dining. Unfortunately, it more reflected the stereotypical view of British dining, with average, overpriced food more suited to a chain. In particular, the ambience in the restaurant is dreadful. Roast has continued to pack tables in to the point where the volume from conversation nearby is deafening. The addition of live 'music' only worsens the experience - too loud and extremely poor. When you cannot hear the person sat next to you at the table you have a problem. Secondly, in terms of food, the meals were not bad but by no means justify the prices. Roast is sadly more of a tourist trap than the great restaurant it was. You can do far better.

Myself and my husband went to Roast for a special 10 year anniversary treat. I had researched many restaurants and we both chose Roast based on the menu choices, location and ambience of the restaurant. The restaurant was nice, the tables were relatively nicely spaced but it felt very much like walking into a Prezzo or ASK. There was very little atmosphere. The staff were friendly, not over the top, could have been a little more attentive but at the same time it is nice not to feel rushed. All 3 courses were pretty average for both of us and I would have been happy with this meal if I had paid approx £30 pp. Instead we paid double this. I would not go back I'm afraid.

I met my daughter on Saturday morning for some shopping at Borough Market and then lunch at Roast. Form the moment we arrived at the restaurant everyone was very welcoming and polite. We had a window seat which is always a bonus. The food was delivered promptly, but at no time did we feel rushed. Service was excellent. We both had Pork Belly which was melt-in-the-mouth succulent! For dessert my daughter had a date pudding and I had an almond and plum tart: both amazingly delicious! It's always lovely to come up to town to see my daughter - lots of chat, fun and laughter made extra special this time with a glorious lunch at Roast. :)

We had lunch at Roast on a Saturday and so Borough Market was absolutely buzzing. We had a great table over in the corner by the window and so we able to look down on everyone in the market. The restaurant was busy but this did not stop the service from being absolutely superb. No one hurried us along; we took as much time as we wanted to eat and catch up with everyone in the group. Every dish that came was excellent - those of us that had duck really thought the restaurant had done a great job - but the pork belly was equally beautifully cooked. Our starters and desserts were also delicious. We can highly recommend this restaurant!

Fantastic location, that was my main reason for choosing Roast, I had one of the cocktails which was weak and disappointing, the food was average, my partner had a steak which was again, average and I had the vegetarian spaghetti which had too many vinegary capers in it so I left them out. All in all we loved the venue but the food was nothing special. A shame.

We had the roast of the day, which was chicken. It was as dry as it could be, it was as if it had been sectionally roasted, breast, leg and then popped together on to a plate. The stuffing balls were dry and uninteresting. We have eaten there many times before, but have found the quality of the food to be slipping. For dessert we had the cheese board.

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch at roast this weekend but ruined a bit by how much they rushed us through. Food was delicious-innovate and tasty starters, lovely pork belly for main (my partner had the beef which was a bit disappointing) and delicious puddings. Main down side is how much they rushed us-we ordered an aperitif, starter and main-aperitif and starter arrived almosted immediately, then as soon as they cleared our plates from starter they immediately brought over the main. Luckily we'd chosen to not order pudding at the start of the meal so were able to take a break by taking our time over the dessert menu. Genuinely spoilt the experience a bit as felt far too rushed to enjoyed a relaxed Sunday lunch. Probably won't go back.
