A word from Rogano
Rogano has been established in Glasgow as a seafood restaurant for over 70 years. The main restaurant serves a wide variety of locally caught fish and shellfish, delicately prepared by our dedicated team of chefs. Lobster thermidor and oysters rockefeller are a speciality.
Cafe Rogano offers less formal dining with a bistro style menu and a fantastic pre-theatre selection. The oyster bar is where people come to see and be seen. A chilled glass of champagne is always on hand, perfect to wash down the oysters.

  • "Fish soup is fabulous as is service . Service first class with an interesting choice of wines.menu could be a bit more extensive"

  • "it was our wedding anniversary, and told them when we booked the table. great table and nice touch at the end with congratulations for our wedding anniversary."

  • "The design, ambience, and service were all good. It was the food, and specifically the main courses which spoiled the evening which was a special meal for my parents. The main courses were pricey yet so small as to be unsatisfying. The sparse vegetable accompaniments to the fish, little more than fiddly decoration in some cases, and the apparent attempt to force people to pay more money to buy a few potatoes or greens as side orders in order to make up a reasonable meal, was close to being an insult. I suffered the most in this respect, but rather than cause a scene for ourselves by raising complaints and arguing with the staff I decided to say nothing. My elderly parents by nature don't like to complain and otherwise enjoyed the evening."

  • "At nearly £4 for a bottle of water.&£3:50 for a coffee PLUS 12.5% service charge this it's not value for money Lots of better places in Glasgow"

  • "Fantastic meal, brilliant service, what a special night out! Can't wait to go back..."

  • "It was our first time at Rogano- the meal was nice and the service was very good. My partner had the lobster which i didn't feel worth the money however we really enjoyed our night out. The wine was also really expensive so i didn't feel the evening was value for money but the service from staff and it was nice as a one off."

  • "Once again the Rogano delivered a memorable experience for my Husband & myself. It was a belated Birthday treat for my Husband & I arranged for Champagne to be waiting at our table...it was, chilled to perfection. Our waitress was attentive & chatty & even arranged for Happy Birthday to be written in chocolate on out petit fours (as it was belated we had not arranged a cake). The food was excellent, the fish cooked to perfection as usual & there's always a lovely atmosphere at the Rogano. We look forward to every visit, can't wait to go back!"

  • "I booked a table to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. On arrival we had beautifully made cocktails in the bar although very expensive. Dinner was from the a la carte menu and the fois gras was lovely as was the crab salad. The main courses were fillet of beef which was dry and tasteless and the special of halibut which was nice but very small. Coffee and chocolates to finish. Coffee was Luke warm. Rogano used to be no.1 in my opinion and has lost a lot of the finer points. The 12.5% service charge is excessive when we found the experience to be disappointing."

  • "Lovely food and very attentive service. Loved the old fashioned style and furniture. Found it very difficult to choose from the menu - so much seemed tempting. Great location in the centre of town and the outside space looked like it might be fun. Loos need revamping, really at odds with the rest of the restaurant."
    dined on 22/06/2014
  • "Overall fab, let themselves down at end of meal with coffee! Come on Rogano serve coffee that is actually hot and drinkable, we were not charged for these but disappointing end to excellent meal."

  • "Having moved away from Glasgow 20+ years ago one of my regrets was never having eaten at The Rogano. This I was able to correct with lunch on a recent visit to the city. I now have a new regret, that I bothered. The food was fine, indeed my main course of hake was very good but the whole experience was let down by abysmal service. Having been seated we had to watch as tables who arrived after us were served before us. Then when we were served our champagne went to the wrong table, we had to ask repeatedly for water, every time the waitress visited us she apologized about the service but continued to ignore us, and the final insult was having to ask the server 3 times for our bill. I asked for the service to be removed, no one asked why. Sad"

  • "Disappointed to have to return my lobster dish as it was cold. However, this was quickly replaced. The best food of the evening was the dessert platter - it was fantastic. If we were to go back it would be for dessert and coffee. The mains came in a poor second."

  • "I was treated to a most enjoyable birthday lunch at Rogano's. Very good value for money for food although drink a little pricey. Service was attentive and friendly but not intrusive. An ideal place for a relaxing time where you never felt rushed. Some might think of it as old-fashioned but for us it retained the traditional values of service with modern attractive presentation of food. We have rebooked for an evening meal with friends. "

  • "We enjoyed our evening, but, it was disappointing to see that my comments on the booking form had not been paid any attention to. Specifically, that it was our 40th wedding anniversary celebration dinner. I had to ask the Maitre'D if he could organise something special to surprise my wife. Afraid to say, the evening was a little flat, with little attention paid to our celebration other than a plate of sweets with happy anniversary served at the very end of the meal. We try to visit for our special times every year, and this is the first time we have been a little disappointed, espicially on such a momentous occasion. Kind of makes us wonder why we travelled over 100 miles to come back to the Rogano. Colin and Cath Ferrrier"

  • "Great cocktails and service. The main course rabbit was lovely. The vegetarian haggis and goats cheese main was disappointing. "

  • "Food was delicious and service was excellent, could not fault it. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be going back."

  • "The atmosphere was buzzy early last Saturday evening and the banquette corner was intimate. Food, all delicious and fishy, just as expected, and wine and service, pudding and coffee added to delight and serious fun in opulent panelled restaurant."

  • "This was our second visit to Rogano and we were not dissapointed. From the old-world glamour to the glorious food and the impeccable service, it was a real treat. I just wish I lived in Glasgow!"

  • "I've been to rogano a few times now and can never fault the food or service however they seem to think they are American...12% service charge added to the bill for two people...no option to get the food myself...how does that work out?! won't be back..."

  • "Professional staff who know the menu and can have some banter. Tasty food cooked perfectly"

  • "The ambience was lovely, the food was absolutely delicious and the service was outstanding, with fantastic attention to detail. A very enjoyable evening"

  • "A real experience. The tables are quite close together but during our visit no-one was loud - I find that can ruin the experience even with tables further apart. We chose the Rogano for a special occasion and it fitted the bill nicely. "

  • "This was my first visit to Rogano's. Our children bought us a very generous voucher for a 30th anniversary meal. I had read reviews about the restaurant before we came, and noted some of the points made. The service and food were wonderful - we found the waiters attentive and friendly, but not over-attentive ("in your face"!). I particularly enjoyed the smoked salmon starter and the "Rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb" desert. The ambience was a little stuffy and old-fashioned for our tastes, but perfectly pleasant. The toilets, which some reviews had led us to believe were barely worthy to be called public conveniences, were a little scruffy, and could do with some TLC, but spotlessly clean and fully functioning! "

  • "definately not treated as well as other diners with groupon voucher"
    dined on 27/04/2014
  • "The flavour of our food was great but it was cold and looked a bit sad as if it had been lying. Waitress lacked personality and the toilets were dirty. A Glasgow institution which has gone down hill. "
    dined on 18/04/2014
  • "Again, very pleased with the taster menu. Together with the wine selection this makes the entire dining experience relaxed and thoroughly recommended. The staff were able to synchronise two taster menues with one a la carte with no delays or being out of sequence. "

  • "Picked from the lunch menu, reasonable value but Parmesan risotto was bland, tasted better. Sole very nice. Attentive but not intrusive service."

  • " Excellent for entertaining intense minded southern visitor in need of revisiting haunts of her Scottish youth"

  • "Eaten here lots of times and obviously we must like it. Service was a bit slow this time, not quite so efficient as usual. The evening was nothing special, I had sole meniere, was very good."
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "My wife and I had dinner. The food was excellent, well cooked and beautifully presented. The waitress and waiter were perfect. They did not rush us, but everything was cleared smoothly and efficiently. The last pleasure was the bill. It was less than I had expected when booking, and a bargain for the evening's experience. We shall return!"

  • "Delicious food on the whole, although my roast salmon was certainly overcooked but everyone of the party of 5 enjoyed theirs. One major issue though is that we were there for a business lunch and the service was really really slow We waited for 15 minutes to pay our bill. We waited 15 minutes to make our orders and waited 15 minutes to get our first course. 45 minutes of doing not a lot which made the lunch last 90 minutes for 2 courses and a glass of wine. Food was good though and the ambience was great. It was pretty busy for monday lunchtime too"

  • "Visited the Rogano on Sat & as always the food & service were excellent, no complaints here. Always a nice touch to get your free appetisers before your starters arrive! The only minor thing i would say is that i think it was darker than normal in the main restaurant, in fact i saw one lady using the light from her phone to read the menu at one stage. But as always, we both loved it and will be back."

  • "Myself and husband visited Glasgow to go to a concert in the Hydro (great venue) and decided to have a Saturday night at Rogano. We certainly didnt regret our decision. Cullen skink was absolutely fantastic and john dory lovely - with a far bigger portion than i wold have expected. My husband had veal 3 ways and it was really good too - tea and petite fours was all i could manage after a sumptuous meal, but i have it on good authority that the pudding was great. One negative note and it is already mentioned here is the toilets. WOW they are really bad. Im sure the restaurant must make enough profit to go in there and sort it out. Not only old and dirty looking but smelly too with overflowing bins."
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "Good, service and ambience was amazing! My first time there and I will be back very soon as we have booked a table for my dads birthday dinner."
    dined on 04/04/2014
  • "I have had memorable meals at the Rogano over the years. It is not what it used to be and is not up to the standard of newer eating establishments and seems to be still trading on its past. Food basic and staff aloof and unfriendly."
    dined on 01/04/2014
  • "My son booked Rogano as a Mothers Day treat for me. We were not offered a special Mothers Day menu, but my son did not want to complain. We thought that the a la carte menu was a bit pricey, and not particularly good value for money. Our food was Ok and the service was good."
    dined on 30/03/2014
  • "I took my mother here for Mother's Day for the Mother's Day deal Rogano were offering. To keep it brief the food was unbelievable, the waiter who was serving us was great and the surroundings were extremely pleasant. Would 100% go back."
    dined on 30/03/2014
  • "We took visiting friends from the US out for dinner on a cold damp Tuesday night so wanted somewhere a little special and that would still have some atmosphere mid-week. Rogano was just the ticket. I love the look of the place anyway, but the food was also great (I went for the classics, Cullen Skink and Lemon Sole), the wine was great and quite reasonably priced and we were made to feel very welcome. There were a couple of delays in service later on but those were clearly mistakes and not representative of the approach."
