A word from Rogano
Rogano has been established in Glasgow as a seafood restaurant for over 70 years. The main restaurant serves a wide variety of locally caught fish and shellfish, delicately prepared by our dedicated team of chefs. Lobster thermidor and oysters rockefeller are a speciality.
Cafe Rogano offers less formal dining with a bistro style menu and a fantastic pre-theatre selection. The oyster bar is where people come to see and be seen. A chilled glass of champagne is always on hand, perfect to wash down the oysters.

We had dinner in Rogano's recently. We have eaten here a couple of times a year for the the last five or six years and have noticed a slight decline in the quality of food over the past year or so. While our oysters were excellent, the roasted monkfish wrapped in parma ham was a bit dry and the Romesco sauce was rather too thick. Dessert was excellent. Generally the dining room is looking a bit tired as the bench seats begin to wear out. Of course Rogano's rightly seeks to maintain its wonderful art deco ambience but even the best of fabrics wear out in time.

I chose the Rogano as the venue to celebrate my partners birthday. What a wonderful choice. From the very moment we arrived the service was attentive without being obtrusive. We came into contact with four different staff throughout the night and every one was mannerly, attentive and thorougly professional. Yes, you will pay a bit more than you will in other good restuarants but, in my opinion, it is well worth it. The food itself was presented quite uniquely and every dish was a delight to look at and the tastes were wonderful. I thoroughly recommend the Rogano,,,,,,,,,,,, go on treat yourself!!!

The food was outstanding and the little special touches such as complimentary appetizers and desserts was a great touch. the waiter service was professional giving you enough time between courses and very efficient. The only small niggle is the 12.5% service charge. This was my first time but i will go back again and soon.

Good service staff, but the waiter was arrogant. Out of four dishes, 2 were excellent (fish soup & sea bass) 1 was OK (smoked duck) and one was marginal (scallops). Wine was OK but overpriced. Food in General was overpriced.

The restuarant decor is quite frankly shabby, the seating badly stained and the restuarant toilets a disgrace. The lack of diners should have been the clue. The food was good, but not great. The fish soup was very good, the scallops and black pudding dish was beautifully cooked and presented although the crispy pancetta is yet to make an appearance. The venison loin just about made it. The service was not up to the promise of fine dinning and a significant 'mistake' in the bill all combined to ensure I would never eat here again or recommend it to others. The bar of course remains a great attraction.

A trip to Rogano is a must if visiting Glasgow. It's a bit pricey but the atmosphere, service and food make up for that. This was our second visit and even more enjoyable than our first. The food was excellent, the waitress demonstrated the right amount of attentiveness, and the other clientele were pleasant. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Seems like being on the old Cunarders! The interior is original and stunning! Also had the best oysters ever...and I'm from Virginia ....and we have great oysters here...but these beat ours! And the venison was superb! Wish I could have had dessert but just arrived from the States and jet lag set in with a full stomach...loh well...hopefully another time!

...something missing and we're not sure what! Rogano has always been somewhere we've considered to be top end dining in Glasgow and to be fair the food was delicious and the service good. We were out for our 10th anniversary but I felt we were too closely sat to other tables for it to be romantic/private and the interior is needing some TLC. On the whole we had a nice evening but regrettably I was a little underwhelmed. It wouldn't stop us returning but not before trying other places in the meantime.

We enjoyed a great dinner at Rogano on Tuesday night, hubby was in Glasgow on business and I went along for the ride. We hadn't managed an anniversary dinner so I checked out three restaurants and gave him the choice and I was very glad he chose Rogano. I had last visited maybe 35 years ago and loved the food then. The menu was the best and not as expensive as some others. I had scallops followed by lobster, he had crab followed by lobster. Not cheap but excellent. The place has spruced itself up since my last visit too!

Everything was going well on our entry, were placed at our table, received the Menu, drinks, choice of bread... Then it came to ordering two lobsters and... Discovered there are no lobsters. We came specifically for this dish and at no stage before the making an order we were informed about this. Entrance, manager showing us to our table, handing the menu - no comments about missing lobsters. At that point you receive drinks etc. seems to late to leave the restaurant but I feel that I should have. Again mistakes happen so decided to stay and order something else. However the disappointment came when a gentelmen at the table next to ours received the same treatment. My impression: the restaurant is desperate to keep you, even by using tricks

The Rogano never seems to change...and that's a wholly good thing. Set lunch is well priced with a good range of choices. My wife had that, but I had the half lobster thermidor with skinny fries - excellent. We chose a fine bottle of Cheverny - a choice that met with our knowledgable and efficient waiter's approval.

The design, ambience, and service were all good. It was the food, and specifically the main courses which spoiled the evening which was a special meal for my parents. The main courses were pricey yet so small as to be unsatisfying. The sparse vegetable accompaniments to the fish, little more than fiddly decoration in some cases, and the apparent attempt to force people to pay more money to buy a few potatoes or greens as side orders in order to make up a reasonable meal, was close to being an insult. I suffered the most in this respect, but rather than cause a scene for ourselves by raising complaints and arguing with the staff I decided to say nothing. My elderly parents by nature don't like to complain and otherwise enjoyed the evening.

Once again the Rogano delivered a memorable experience for my Husband & myself. It was a belated Birthday treat for my Husband & I arranged for Champagne to be waiting at our table...it was, chilled to perfection. Our waitress was attentive & chatty & even arranged for Happy Birthday to be written in chocolate on out petit fours (as it was belated we had not arranged a cake). The food was excellent, the fish cooked to perfection as usual & there's always a lovely atmosphere at the Rogano. We look forward to every visit, can't wait to go back!

I booked a table to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. On arrival we had beautifully made cocktails in the bar although very expensive. Dinner was from the a la carte menu and the fois gras was lovely as was the crab salad. The main courses were fillet of beef which was dry and tasteless and the special of halibut which was nice but very small. Coffee and chocolates to finish. Coffee was Luke warm. Rogano used to be no.1 in my opinion and has lost a lot of the finer points. The 12.5% service charge is excessive when we found the experience to be disappointing.

Having moved away from Glasgow 20+ years ago one of my regrets was never having eaten at The Rogano. This I was able to correct with lunch on a recent visit to the city. I now have a new regret, that I bothered. The food was fine, indeed my main course of hake was very good but the whole experience was let down by abysmal service. Having been seated we had to watch as tables who arrived after us were served before us. Then when we were served our champagne went to the wrong table, we had to ask repeatedly for water, every time the waitress visited us she apologized about the service but continued to ignore us, and the final insult was having to ask the server 3 times for our bill. I asked for the service to be removed, no one asked why. Sad

Disappointed to have to return my lobster dish as it was cold. However, this was quickly replaced. The best food of the evening was the dessert platter - it was fantastic. If we were to go back it would be for dessert and coffee. The mains came in a poor second.
