A word from Roux at The Landau
The re-named Roux at The Landau sees father and son Albert and Michel Roux Jr working together for the first time in 18 years, bringing the Roux’s legendary culinary expertise and creativity to their second West End address.

Roux protégé Chris King has been chosen as Chef de Cuisine after a five year apprenticeship at Le Gavroche

Michel Roux Jr says of the new Chef: “Chris King is a rising star, and his menus reflect the Roux trademark style of classically-constructed French dishes, blended with today’s tastes for lighter choices.”

Some classic British dishes, which are customer favourites, will also feature on the menu.

The 3 courses and glass of champagne offer was incredible value and the choices on the set menu were varied and interesting. The food was good but not amazing. The service though was friendly, warm and attentive, not the stiff UK attempt at French classic service you often find in London. I'd give 4.5 stars if I could.

Disappointed. Tuesday lunch, fairly empty and lacked atmosphere. I suspect the waiters were trainees. I might be old-fashioned but I don’t expect a waiter to reach across me. Learning their lines rather than giving a performance. Farthest from the windows the tables were arranged so one person looked into the room the other at the wall. Surely both could have a room view like The Savoy Grill? The food was very good. I’m not sure if they should be satisfied with ‘very good’. It lacked the magic of say, Pollen Street Social. It may be that I am not the target market or that my expectations were inappropriate.

This was a fabulous night out with my wife. Everything was executed with precision. We had the tasting menu with wine pairings and they made it a really special experience. We switched the desert to the pineapple souffle and it was to die for. I cant recommend it higher - except maybe to give 6 stars for the food.

I met a great friend last night to celebrate our 50th's and had the of 3 courses and a glass of champagne. The food was very good if not outstanding. My chicken and chestnut starter was slightly bland but the rump of lamb was delicious as were the selection of ice creams. We had a delicious viognier and the champagne was lovely and generously served. My only gripe was that one of our waiters could smile a little more (the service apart from that was lovely and relaxed) and the tables were a little close so when another couple were seated next to us I felt bad about our rather lively conversation dominating their evening! All in all a really lovely time and I would return.

Such a lovely atmosphere, friendly service, no rush and...wonderful food! £36 for canapés, starter, main course, glass of champagne, petit fours , coffee and plenty of water is indeed very good value for money. I was treating a young couple from abroad and they all loved the experience at this restaurant. I must return! xxx Rosana Hughes

Rather spontaneously we booked this lunch from Sweden only a few days before our short trip to London. We are so happy with that decision since it was a perfect experience. Excellent service, beautiful room, very nice staff and delicious food indeed. We had the 3-course lunch with a glass of Champagne included and added some nice wines to go with the salmon and the duck. I loved the foie gras sauce! We will definitely come back.

Restaurants belonging to celebrity chefs can be over-priced and "flabby". Not here: concise menu, precise cooking, and a few well judged twists to familiar ingredients. Staff were attentive but not flunky, discrete yet friendly and the sommelier guided us to an excellent bottle given a tightish budget. In all, from amuse bouche to petit fours and coffee, a great meal.

We visited on Friday evening and found the food, nicely presented, but rather bland. The dining room itself is a large room with tables very close to each other, that does not give couples an opportunity to talk without tables either side being able to hear.

We had the tasting menue, which is minuscule, so we ate a lot of bread as a result! The 5 courses are like 5 canopees & never ever have I seen such small portions. What we had tasted good, but this experience takes tasting to a different level! We had tasting menues in other restaurants in London & Paris and they were amazing experiences & didn't leave feeling hungry. We had to wait long for the "main course", again the size of a walnut! Such a shame! Really dissapointing!

We've been dining here for three years now and yet to have an experience other than first class. The food is simply superb. Service is attentive. The ambience of the main room is fantastic and in terms of value for money, we're yet to find better anywhere we've eaten in the world. Head waiter/manger Franco knew our names and preferences after dining there just once. He is a massive part of the success of restaurant in our eyes and his thirty years in the business is evident in the way he treats his patrons. The range of menus will suit a range of diners too. It is simply put the best restaurant I've been to.

I have ordered sea bass in a restaurant countless times but at Roux at the The Landau it was a different league. Melt-in-the mouth and deliciously and subtly flavoured, it felt like a real Masterchef experience. The restaurant is small and makes the experience intimate. Perfect for a special occasion.

We have eaten here many times and the standard of food and service are always excellent. For lunch, there is a good fixed price menu, to which 'house' wine can be added at a good price for what is received. Service was faultless and the food was of the usual high level. Never overcrowded and even when full, the ambiance is calm and enjoyable. Always recommended.

A last minute decision to eat again at this restaurant was a good decsion! The food was amazing - such richness of flavours and lovely presentation. Didn't manage to get the Open Table special price as they only offer this before 7 or after 9 and I couldn't manage that time. However, while not cheap, it was well worth the money and would definitely recommend and plan to return soon!!

We are trying out a host of different London restaurants, and had a good evening meal at Roux at the Landau, to see if any compare to Ducasse at the Dorchester. I'm afraid Roux did not. The food was okay but not fantastic, though it was very good value at £45 including half bottle of wine for 3 courses. Good but not great service, and a table layout that has half the guests at one end of the room looking at the wall the whole time. you don't get that at the Dorchester either!

The restaurant is tastefully lit and decorated. The staff are smart and welcoming. The menu is adequately full but not over crowded. The chef's menu with an expertly compiled wine pairing was elegant and well-paced. Each course being described, each wine bring explained but in a quiet and unassuming style. The cheese trolley was stocked with an excellent range of British and European cheeses. Overall a very enjoyable occasion.

We were in London for my wife's birthday and decided to go to Roux at the Landau for the tasting menu. We booked relatively late and could only get a 21.30 table. We went for the tasinng menu. All aspects were excellent and we could raise no real issue with anything. Value actually very good for tasting in London or elsewhere. When booking I had noted that it was my wife's birthday and they brought the petit fours with a happy birthday icing note.

You enter into a beautiful room and from the start to finish service is immaculate. As a vegetarian I had as many choices on the Menu du Jour as the meat eaters. Each dish was carefully thought out, balanced and delicious. Portion size was generous, the wine was delicious as was the bread and butter. The cheese trolley was a lovely touch and I enjoyed my vegetarian selection, which again was clearly marked. I can't say anything negative and will be recommending this restaurant to everyone. Well done Michel Roux!

Attended Roux at Landau without prior knowledge for an anniversary meal, but early at 6:00pm. The restaurant was comfortable, smart but casual, a mixed age group and everyone having a good time. The menu and food surpassed expectations. The staff not only in the restaurant but hotel and bar were extremely friendly; nothing was too much trouble. I personally found the Somelier's knowledge of great interest. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or return.

To start a Theatre evening with a visit to The Landau is a must. The food and service was first class and the ambience sets up a special occasion. I could not fault it in any way this restaurant, in fact it surpassed the enjoyment of the theatre that night. My date was still saying 24 hours later, how much she enjoyed the food could still taste it. The evening will remain with her for a very long time. A superb experience, I can definitely recommend it to anyone who wants that memorable evening.
