A word from Roux at The Landau
The re-named Roux at The Landau sees father and son Albert and Michel Roux Jr working together for the first time in 18 years, bringing the Roux’s legendary culinary expertise and creativity to their second West End address.

Roux protégé Chris King has been chosen as Chef de Cuisine after a five year apprenticeship at Le Gavroche

Michel Roux Jr says of the new Chef: “Chris King is a rising star, and his menus reflect the Roux trademark style of classically-constructed French dishes, blended with today’s tastes for lighter choices.”

Some classic British dishes, which are customer favourites, will also feature on the menu.

We attended the Roux at the Landau on saturday and received excellent service, wine and food. The overall experience was outstanding. It was a great way to celebrate my birthday. A special mention needs to go to the sommelier who recommended perfect wines to supplement the food.

Dined on Friday 21st November. To start, we had the Roast Cornish squid with salt-cod brandade and Espelette pepper - super portion of squid with bite, chestnut soup - presentation and taste delectable. For mains, Wild seabass with a young artichoke, Serrano ham and sherry ragoût and the halibut - perfectly cooked delivering the freshness and the taste of the sea - absolutely pure delight. Shared a desert. A memorable dining experience.

Had a wonderful set menu lunch. I had cauliflower soup followed by beef and then cheese. Amazing standard of food and service even after the fire alarm in the hotel had been activated! After 5 minutes outside service resumed very quickly and efficiently. Would definitely recommend and will return.

Second visit for my wife accompanied by her mother this time for lunch treat. Again, as before with evening service, outstanding service and attention to diners' needs without imposing on their privacy. Quality and flavour of food excellent and 3 course option comprised: pre-starter, starter, main, dessert, coffees and petits fours and wine with open table deal £35 pp! Maybe we were just being spoilt. Peaceful ambience, great experience again. Would highly recommend - at the risk of not being able to book next time we fancy a return visit! Well deserved success. Congratulations again to Messrs M & A Roux, Chris King and all the Team at the Landau.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary with dinner at the Landau. The whole experience was simply wonderful from the greeting on arrival at the restaurant (we were staying at the Langham who confirmed our booking with the Landau and advised them it was a special occasion) to the attentiveness throughout the evening. One of the things we loved was the fact that the a la carte menu was so interesting but with only 5 or 6 choices for each course. We just knew that we would be eating the finest locally sourced produce (where possible), very seasonal and simply but beautifully cooked. There was no messing around with fabulous ingredients, no overpowering sources, foams or gimmicks. The food was absolutely sublime. As expected, the Landau has a very extensive wine list, some very expensive but for us mere mortals who know what we like to drink but aren't experts, some very good, reasonably priced wines to enjoy with your meal. The service was second to none, attentive but not overbearing. We've eaten in some wonderful restaurants, have a good knowledge of food and cooking, and we are both agreed that this was one of the finest meals we have ever eaten.

We had lunch at Roux at The Landau on the £35 per head Open Table deal. This was an amazing deal given the great food, fabulous service and salubrious setting. I have given the food itself 4 stars because, although it was on the whole great, my main course, confit duck and veg was a bit salty and could have done with a bit more starchy carbs (in my opinion)!

When we 1st arrived they were so busy and everyone seemed in a hurry it did not make you feel there was going to be the right ambience for a romantic dinner for two. However as the evening progressed it seemed to settle down and we were able to appreciate it more and the service became more attentive. The food was superb. I had the best Dover sole I have ever tasted and that was after having a quail cooked to perfection. We will definitely go back again but maybe book 30 minutes later.

Booked a table for two at 1800, a business meeting. We both chose from the 3 course plates of the day menu, I had the bantum egg with smoked mackeral to start, followed by confit of duck. My guest had scallops and then the sea bream. The food was sublime and the choice of cheeses great. £90, for 3 courses plus coffee's for two including a bottle of wine (choice of 2 x white and 2 x red). I can only describe the experience, the value, and the quality of the food as outstanding. Add to that the wonderful experience that Umberto and his team provide at the hotel bar next door, and I can see this becoming my new favourite "go to place" when in London.

We decided the day before we wanted to see the poppies at the Tower and I was delighted to be able to book this meal. The food was exceptional. My pate was the best I have tasted, the meatiness perfectly accompanied by a delicate truffle enthused dressing. The pork in the entree crumbled on the fork. I tried to rest between each mouthful so prolong the pleasure. The desert sugar tart with candied pine nuts and ice cream was a wonderful blend of textures and taste. My wife enjoyed her menu too and our discussion over the meal was about who of our friends we could bring the next time. Two days later we still mention elements if the meal to each other

This was the second time I booked Roux at the Landou as a special treat for my son, as it was so fabulous the first time around and it didn't disappoint. We had the set menu this time, which was delicious, interesting and excellently presented. It felt like the treats just kept coming, and my son, who is a strapping teenager, was certainly full at the end. The service is outstanding, attentive and efficient and we were made to feel special; Ivo, the Deputy Manager greeted us soon after we arrived and even remarked on where we had sat a year ago! Finally the ambience makes this place feel like the occasion is always special - we look forward to going again.

I booked this place for my dad's birthday in advance to his actual birthday day. I booked with Open Table quite last minute, and there were still tables available for booking a few days in advance. My dad and I love the Roux family. Booked a table for 3,with my sister too,and on the day we arrived just on time, when we were greeted by a lovely lady at the door. We were sat near the window side of the restaurant. I loved the ambience and the decor. We were shown a concise and wonderful looking menu and decided to opt for the chef's menu without wine. All dishes tasted amazing, but portions were small and one course seemed like posh cheese on toast. Great restaurant, attentive staff. Would definitely recommend, but not to go when you're hungry.

Disappointed. Tuesday lunch, fairly empty and lacked atmosphere. I suspect the waiters were trainees. I might be old-fashioned but I don’t expect a waiter to reach across me. Learning their lines rather than giving a performance. Farthest from the windows the tables were arranged so one person looked into the room the other at the wall. Surely both could have a room view like The Savoy Grill? The food was very good. I’m not sure if they should be satisfied with ‘very good’. It lacked the magic of say, Pollen Street Social. It may be that I am not the target market or that my expectations were inappropriate.
