This is the 4th time I have had a fantastic lunch in Samphire. My favourite dish is the Goats Cheese and Beetroot Gnochi which is superb. The people I was with also enjoyed their dishes. The staff are very friendly and it is very comfortable in there.

We loved the ambiance of Samphire - it is warm, cosy and oozes character. The starters were delicious, inventive and left us very impressed. However, we had to wait nearly an hour for our mains to come out and when they did, the pork belly we ordered was over cooked and the lamb my mother ordered was raw. Now, I know lamb is great served rare but this was barely cooked! We spoke to the waitress and she was very helpful. The manager even came over to speak to us and dealt with the issue promptly and professionally. So, I believe this could have been an off day for Samphire...a bit disappointing but it would not put us off visiting in the future!

I had booked the Samphire for a special celebratory dinner and had indicated as much on my booking -- I followed up with the restaurant directly 2 weeks and then again 3 days prior. At the restaurant our group of 7 were squashed in a little corner right beside another large group meaning we were all really uncomfortable. The staff were abrupt, cold, and almost rude -- even clean cutlery seemed to be too much of a request. The food itself was boring -- generous portions, but not well cooked, very plain and rather expensive! The sole was seriously undercooked and overbuttered, the lamb was overly fatty and chewy. Seriously disappointing. Of the 3 places we visited in Whitstable this was was by far the very worst.

Good choice of meals and the Monkshill lamb as nice as ever. Always a very pleasant event and a safe pair of hands if taking visitors out to eat. We always enjoy our visits - biggest problem is choosing from the lovely dishes on the menu.

What was rather disappointing was I notified the restaurant that this was a special 65th birthday meal with friends meeting up from near and far (South Africa). It would have been nice to have some sort of recognition on this and welcome greeting. Service was very slow and it took nearly an hour to receive our meals. The food was very tasty (fish cakes) which several of our party ordered, however the salad that came with it was rather disappointing with hardly any dressing and only consisted of lettuce leaves.

Booking essential, many drop-ins were turned away! Dined with a group of 5 on a Sunday evening. Service was fine and efficient. Limited menu, but covered all the bases, we had lamb (2), pork, veg gnocchi and polenta, all good portions and tasty dishes. Generous bread selection for starters with olives, oil, dried broad beans and salsa. On to the mains with the pork belly probably being the pick. Nice bottle of Italian rose to wash it all down and finished off with ice cream, sorbet and a delicious summer pudding. Holidaying in Whitstable for the week, so will try and return.

We booked here prior to a visit to Whitstable, after reading good reviews on TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed! The food was delicious - I had a starter of ham, mozzarella and figs, and it was fresh and delicious, as were my partner's mussels. The main courses were equally good - lamb for hm, cod for me. The staff were friendly and on hand when needed, without being in your face. A really nice restaurant, with a great menu. Would highly recommend.

Consistently first class This visit did not disappoint! Delicious broad bean soup - and kedgeree with poached egg and curry ketchup (don't let the name ketchup put you off!) -with a bottle of prosecco. Perfect Saturday lunch. Staff, as always, have the perfect aporoach. Attentive but not omnipresent. Charming and smiling. Small but perfectly formed, this little I dependant doesn't rest on its laurels - rather it goes from strength to strength. Lots of lovely eateries in whitstable - but in my opinion, samphire takes the crown!

This was our first dinner here, have had breakfast a couple of times which is very good. The table was ready on time, we arrived earlier but had a drink elsewhere as the restaurant is quite small with no bar area. Nothing to complain about, food excellent, service really good: a well oiled machine, wine nice and cold. This restaurant doesn't need a 'named' chef (Pearson's Arms please take note) it is doing a great job without one, much like the Pearson's Arms used to be.

Four of us had a superb lunch here during the Oyster festival. Two had the excellent fish pie, one the smoked haddock kedgery and a beetroot gnocchi. All meals were very good. Our only regret was booking lunch, the evening meal was far better for variety on the menu. We would all go back .

In Whitstable you are spoilt for choice for places to eat, but I'm glad that I chose Samphire. It doesn't have the widest lunch menu in the world, but it is a good choice of interesting dishes. I had the Fish Pie which was the best one I have ever eaten. The Antipasti to share as a starter is also highly recommended. There was no room for dessert but I was tempted. It wasn't busy when we arrived, but it was by the time we left. The dinner menu looked excellent as well. Great friendly service accompanied the food. What more could you ask for.

We ate here on Tues evening 22/7/14. Being a Tuesday, the restaurant wasn't too busy and that suits me fine. The food was well executed and wll presented. Time was allotted to the enjoymnet of the meal--not whipping dishes away the minute you left your cutlery down. You were also not under any pressure to pat up and leave as your meal was finished---sit back with a glass of wine & watch the world go by. All in all, a lovely experience and the chefs seemed very grateful for the personal thank you from ourselves

Our first visit here, but definitely not that last. Very nice, cosy restaurant, with a good atmosphere, even though we sat in the window facing out. It was our wedding Anniversary and wanted something nice, it didn't disappoint. The service was very friendly, informative and quick. The supper menu was varied but not over-complicated and the food when it came was wonderful. The wine list was also about quality rather than quantity. The mussels in beer starter was excellent and a large portion, the poussin was beautifully cooked and the accompaniments went very well with it. My wife loved the trout starter and thought the lamb was wonderful Talked ourselves into dessert and didn't regret that either. A lovely evening, and we will go back.
