Diner Reviews
  • "This restaurant is the hotel restaurant of the Radisson SAS hotel. The food and service were perfectly fine, as you can expect, but not in any way outstanding. The ambiance really felt business hotel-like."
    dined on 07/06/2014
  • "I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. When we arrived at 6pm a group of , we were put on a table right at the back of the restaurant though there were plenty of group tables free and from then on though we were one of the few tables there, we were ignored, getting any kind of service meant we had to go up and ask, and when we did get served most of the staff were rude and majority of our orders were wrong to the point a meal was sent back.. and then returned after we had all finished eating."
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "i always come to scoff and banter as it is near to the town and nice food for an alright price. However it is nice if you want a less busy place i like to eat in a quiet private place therefore I always come here if you want somewhere with a busier atmosphere then i would not recommend it mid week "
    dined on 25/03/2014
  • "An enjoyable venue for lunch with friends. We virtually had the place to ourselves!"
    dined on 06/03/2014
  • "It would be a good place to eat if you had to, if you were staying in the adjoining hotel and did not want to eat in your room."
    dined on 27/02/2014
  • "wonderful food at a good price for uptown restaurant but lacked atmosphere more people should know about this place!"
    dined on 27/02/2014
  • "Both the food and the surroundings were very pleasant. Very smooth service - they gave us everything we needed but were unobtrusive. Interesting decor with fascinating designs on the walls and creative use of drapes. Enjoyed our romantic meal uninterrupted - diners were not cramped together. Would definitely go back here!"
    dined on 21/02/2014
  • "service is ok but a bit snobbish in my opinion, they were a bit weary about giving free bread. The food is lovely though, recommeded if you want the whole restaurant to yourself haha!"
    dined on 28/01/2014
  • "great food, however we asked for bread and they gave us one little peice to share between two people!"
    dined on 18/01/2014
  • "Booked the £17 2 course deal but actually the normal menu worked out cheaper. Excellent haddock,so fresh and really good chips. Prices quite reasonable . You can easily pay more in Guildford and it won't be as nice."
    dined on 05/01/2014
  • "Our experience was disappointing. I had phoned the given restaurant number to tell them that we would be 15 minutes or so later than booked because of the running time at the theatre. The number I phoned couldn't find my reservation so said they would put me through to the restaurant - the people I thought I had phoned in the first place. Initially they couldn't find my reservation either but eventually did. I was told that up to half an hour late would be fine. We arrived 25 minutes late and once again there was no record of my reservation, but they found us a table anyway. On three occasions we were brought somebody else's order, and my partner's steak with salad arrived with chips and fried onions. How disappointing is all that?"
    dined on 31/12/2013
  • "Good choice on the menu, but we both had steak which was badly cooked and the accompanying chips and onions were very greasy, so much so we could not eat most of it. Nice restuarant, but didn't think much of the food."
    dined on 04/11/2013
  • "The waiters started lasting the tables for breakfast which was bad, and there was only one other diner, a business type from the hotel. Best avoided unless your staying in the hotel."
    dined on 08/10/2013
  • "I was looking forward to trying a different restaurant as hadnt heard anything about this one and menu on line looked good.I found it very lacking in atmosphere and virtually empty for a Friday evening-significant? Consequently there were too many staff -inexperienced in service attending but not allowing one to relax and enjoythe meal...it felt rushed. The food was reasonable but overpriced and trying too hard and the staff didnt know when asked about the meals. One waiter dropped pat of the meal splattering it over me but didnt check whether we were ok and we were left to clear it up ourselves! Disappointing.Have paid a lot less for a lot better elsewhere."
    dined on 04/10/2013
  • "Situated in Guildford's Radisson Edwardian hotel, there is plenty of parking close by and it's right next door to G:Live. I like the decor and ambience here - smart yet relaxed with plenty of space between tables so you aren't forced to overhear your neighbours' conversations. Service was attentive and polite. The menu is a mixed bag - there seem to be a lot of unconventional twists on traditional dishes which may or may not appeal. The dishes we ordered were all good though I wasn't overly impressed with the cheddar and shallot turnovers - too much pastry, not enough filling and definitely not enough cheese. The prawn cocktail comes with an enormous prawn on the side (delicious!) and desserts were lovely."
    dined on 01/10/2013
  • "We visited the restaurant early on Saturday evening to get a quick dinner before heading out. The restaurant was very empty when we arrived and we were seated straight away and our orders were taken. We ordered 2 burgers (and chips at an additional £3.50 per portion!), a fish pie and the vegetarian turnovers and waited. And waited. The food eventually came out after almost an hour. There was no explanation for the delay, even though there was only one other table of 2 in the restaurant. The food was ok, but portions were small and it wasn't great quality. There are plenty of other restaurant options in Guildford, so I would recommend heading somewhere else."
    dined on 28/09/2013
  • "we wondered why we had not heard of it it was simply because it had chnaged name but is still part of the Radisson Blu Hotel . Good value with thed deal but not very busy at all ... If serving Hendricks Gin ... must serve Fever Tree Toinc and not that bloody awful Schweppes stuff"
    dined on 25/09/2013
  • "A pleasant surprise. Although lacking in ambiance (rather empty because of the early hour dictated by pre-theatre) and the rather "hotel" décor, the food was very good, imaginatively presented with good service."
    dined on 20/09/2013
  • "Friendly welcome but downhill from there. Starter so salty it was inedible, main courses arrived cold, twice at which point we gave up, paid for drinks and left. There were only 6 people in the restaurant and it still took 45 mins for the first course to come out. The manager handled the whole situation dreadfully. Waitress told us a new chef had caused issues all week - manager denied there was any issue. Considering how good Radisson hotel restaurants are normally, I was astounded at the Fawlty Towers delivery."
    dined on 06/09/2013
  • "I was a little concerned the restaurant may have been a little too much on the expensive side and not enough on the food side like the many rip-off pretend French restaurants you so often get (Cafe Rouge for example). However, the set menu for £15 or £21 depending on the 2-3 courses you have, was enough to satisfy at a reasonable price, which is what I look for in a restaurant!!! Most importantly, I did not leave hungry. The drinks were a little on the pricey side admittedly, but apart from that, I'd expect the prices for the rest of the menu as they were for this well presented establishment. The food was excellent and the service was also impeccable. I would certainly visit again!"
    dined on 25/08/2013
  • "Enjoyed a lovely meal with family. Service was excellent, food was OK and ambience was good but very quiet as we were almost the only diners there."
    dined on 20/07/2013
  • "We were confused by the mis-match of the restaurant name booked through toptable and the fact the restaurant was in reality differently named. The waiters (of which there were a few) didn't understand English and tried to serve us the wrong wine and food. A complete shambles. Luckily they recognised this and gave us our food for free!!"
    dined on 19/07/2013
  • "Food is delicious and very reasonably priced. Wine by the glss is steep. Service was very good and the atmosphere is good to. the restaurant on a nice day can be opened up to allow outdoor seating."
    dined on 12/07/2013
  • "Place was very quiet but it was early on a Tuesday evening! Excellent attentive and personable staff delivered good food, service and value for money in a comfortable setting for a special family occassion."
    dined on 25/06/2013
  • "...but a little stuffy and formal. Food was good, but not good enough for the money."
    dined on 12/06/2013
  • "Very enjoyable meal here. Quality fo food was excellent. I thought it would make a good place for a business meal. It's a large restaurant so if quiet it might be lacking in ambience but there were enough people to make for a good atmosphere."
    dined on 01/06/2013
  • "Lovely meal - can't understand why it was so quiet as so convenient for GLive, although it was mid week. Waiting staff gave good service but food portions on the small side although interesting menu and perfectly cooked."
    dined on 03/04/2013
  • "Wife and I went to Relish for dinner before a nearby theatre show in Guildford. The food was good - small portions but high quality and well-presented. Fairly short menu, but enough quality choices. The ambience was like a typical hotel lobby restaurant - fairly quiet and uninspired. However, we were there quite early so it's possible it livens up later"
    dined on 08/03/2013
  • "My wife and I only had a 45 minute windo in Guildford one evening and having just downloaded the TopTable app booked a table at this restaurant to see what it is like, with a view to dining here prior to our next trip to G-Live. We were not disappointed. When I made the booking (and again on arrival) I said we only had 45 minutes. We were shown straight to our table. With a lack of time we skipped first course. My wife liked the look of the risotto but was told it would take longer than the time allowed to prepare so she opted for another vegetarian option. The food was outstanding and the service very attentive. We left the restaurant in good time & were not late for our next appointment. We will definitely return."
    dined on 29/01/2013
  • "We were booked at 12.45 and arrived at 12.40, they were still hoovering and after sanding at the door for 5 minutes, someone decided to come to see us. We have been told that we were early and we could have a drink at tha bar; After 10 minutes sitting at the bar, none came to us so we had to get someone to get some drink. When at the table, we almost got showered by a bottle of sparkling water that might have been shaken. Food order taken and 3 minutes beofre the starters arrived, we had to ask to see the wine list as it had not been presented to us... etc... Food was really nice, just a shame the service was so poor..."
    dined on 27/01/2013
  • "Overall, not great experience. Service was shabby, food ok, presentation needs attention, can forgive a little for being hotel restaurant, but such a pity as first impression was good fit out, however service rushed & sloppy, food bland, dessert was especially bad, lacked ambience ( very quiet for Friday night -only two other tables occupied) and the funniest thing, the lights were switched on full brightness at 10.20pm - subtle hint or what!! Terrible - will NEVER be going back!"
    dined on 25/01/2013
  • "Was extremely quiet!!! I was one of only 2 diners in the place. The food was reasonable, if a little expensive for the type of fayre. All in all for a hotel restaurant it was reasonable, staff were friendly, polite and attentive... There are better options in Guildford for the money, so definitely score down on Value... if they reduce the prices, would be a decent option in the area.... as is I'd advise look elsewhere and you will get better value for money."
    dined on 09/12/2012
  • "Food and presentation was exceptional and made it even more of an outstanding value with the discount. The fish was fresh, the meat tasty and was prepared perfectly. The service was friendly and polite. While the wine list was limited the choice was more than adequate. We have visited many restaurants in Guildford and this was by far one of the best meals, and value for money that we have had there and will definitely go back. Highly recommended."
    dined on 01/12/2012
  • "Very attentive & helpful service, excellent food & lovely surroundings. The best ambience of any in Guildford."
    dined on 22/11/2012
  • "excellent value with the deal . Great food, service quite slow considering the restaurant was not really that busy."
    dined on 20/11/2012
  • "Really enjoyed first visit in June -so took family to celebrate son's 23rd Birthday expecting a good experience. Very disappointed with service, took 20 minutes to take drinks order, no full bottle of champagne available - given 2 small but not chilled so waited another 15 minutes to cool it down & then chase waiter to open it. Delays in ordering & delivering food courses, staff not at all co-ordinated. Food fine just slow & got one of side orders wrong. Music was too loud. Had mentioned in booking notes that we had a birthday in the party - not acknowledged at all. Wanted this to be a special occaison for our son & it took the edge of things badly, won't be going back in a hurry unless convinced staff training & service has improved."

  • "Was a bit hesitant about booking this restaurant as not keen on hotel restaurants. Very glad I did as the food was excellent. Had the scallops with a divine pea puree followed by the calves liver and colcannon. The liver was a big thick slice cooked nice and rare. My husband had the same and my daughter had the lamb shank which she said was delicious. Wine list was extensive and very good too. My only criticism is the decor! Grey net curtain on the windows and used as room dividers gave the place a gloomy air. Expected Miss Haversham to emerge from the gloom. Brighten it up and it would be an all round excellent restaurant. Will definitely go again with the Toptable offer."

  • "Went on a Thursday evening. Nice place, attached to an upmarket, new build Radisson, very smart decor. It wasn't too busy as we were there at 6.45; my wife had a sea bass that was done competently and presented nicely. My son and I had the 55 day aged ribeye steak which was delicious, with excellent sides as well. However would probably not want to pay full price (~£57) for it. Overall a good meal, would go again (if we see the offer...)"
    dined on 19/07/2012
  • "Just dined at the restaurant in Guildfords new Radisson Blu hotel and it was excellent - really interesting and varied menu, food superbly cooked and presented, good wine list, service efficient and friendly, and the size of the bill a pleasant suprise too. I like the decor and though it links directly into the hotel areas it still feels like a nice exclusive restaurant when you are seated. Music was a bit mixed and needs to be sophisticated and soothing to match the decor and ambience but otherwise a near perfect night. Definitely recommend for special occasions or a romantic meal for two to impress."

  • "With 50% off the price was very reasonable for the lovely meals we had. The starters were superb. The radish relish that comes with the terrine was slightly truffled which went beautifully. The steak was cooked well however lacked a butter or herb to make it a little more exciting. We had the bakewell tart for desert and it was very well received. Our waiter was attentive without being pushy... My ONLY reservation is the fact another chap came to take our bill and he was quite unpleasant about the toptable offer."
