Diner Reviews
  • "Experience was positive and food was very good, but the service charge was high and automatically put on. Therefore it felt a bit akward asking for it to be removed and combined with the price of the meal, it was quite expensive regardless of the special offer."

  • "The OpenTable offer made the overall prices a great bargain. Managed to satisfy fussy customers very well."

  • "Good quality food, nice variety on the menu also. The ambience and service are fantastic. Would recommend. "

  • "I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at the Shezan . Live Jazz makes it extra special for me as the duo performed amazingly. The portions and spice levels were good enough to fulfill my appetite. The atmosphere was romantic and decor was very elegant. The service was very attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant . Great value for money."

  • ""This was recommended to us by a friend and we were pleasantly surprised to arrive at a very charming gem of a place- the restaurant was tugged away on a side street the decour is beautiful. Service was good and the menu is very extensive. The Tandoori lamp chops were succulent and delicious, the whole meal was very tasty and spicy which we like but if you cant handle hot food you should ask for it mild. Cant wait to return !!""

  • "We booked dinner on Top Table 50% off food offer. Very disappointed with food quality. Service was very slow (despite restaurant not being full). Ran out of bindi dish ordered (told 30 minutes after ordering). No dessert menu. Drinks and coffee extremely expensive (e.g. £8 for 1 single and 1 double espresso). Very poor value even at 50% off. Only plud side, papadums were good."

  • "Delicious food Be warned:everything is spicy. Even the yogurt but I wouldn't have it any other way Massive amount of rice. One plate is plenty for 2 people to share I ordered the grilled selection. Food lasted for 2 more days. Honestly!! Great value with the amazing offer of 50% ala carte menu Will definitely recommend it and go again I don't drink alcohol so I can't commend on the list. Water though was super cool and refreshing And great service with friendly people Very unpretentious environment considering the location. Has the local feeling"

  • "Okay, so based upon word of mouth advertising I booked this restaurant for an early mothers day meal for the family and I to enjoy. We got there and then realised there was no lift to go downstairs into the dining area. This sucked as we had two wheelchair users in our dining party who had to then be carried down. This didn't start the night off well. The food was over priced in comparison to portion sizes and taste. I've tasted better at the local Kebab shop to be honest! I wouldn't really recommend the restaurant to anyone else."

  • "Had a late supper at Shezan with friends last week after reading positive reviews. The place is in the maze of backstreets in Knightsbridge and probably doesn't get many people walking in off the street. However, it is worth a detour, particularly with the added attraction of the TT offer. The food was tasty, well spiced and well cooked. We barely scratched the surface of the menu so would be happy to return to sample other dishes as the ones we had - largely recommended by the waiter - were really tasty."

  • "Shezan was everything I'd hoped for and more. The food was outstanding, and the setting just perfect for me and the wife. All of the staff were friendly and knowledgable and we we're made to feel extremely welcome. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone, it's truly a hidden gem in Knightsbridge."

  • "I like the location of this place as it is in Knightsbridge and handy for me when I am meeting clients in that area and want a curry. A few years ago this place was untouchable. Not sure what has happened but now it has gone down hill. Real shame. The lamb dish we ordered was mediocre with some fat on the pieces of lamb. The chicken dish was better as it was spicy but overall nothing special. You would expoedct thsi quality form a local indian takeaway. Had it not been for toptable and the discount you get through them I would have not only been disappointed but extremely annoyed!"

  • "lovely environment, fairly good food, we were seated then moved but given consideration to the table we preferred after they found we were at a pre-booked table. i would return."

  • "Went there on Friday. Service was extremely slow - something to do with a problem in the kitchen but it took them over an hour to tell us!! As always, the food when it comes is excellent which is why we put up with and warn our guests that the service is not good at all."

  • "Although the musician was very good. The food was very disappointing. It seemed as if it had just been reheated. For NYE I would have expected the restaurant to be full but there were barely 5 tables occupied and so atmosphere minimal. Staff seemed to be in their own world as we were given party novelties etc after midnight. I would not go there again for the food."
    dined on 31/12/2013
  • "The trip to the restaurant was part of a Christmas present to my parents. After a show at the Royal Albert Hall - we walked here and were not disappointed. We used to visit this restaurant regularly when I was a child in 1968 and all had fond memories. We were not disappointed! The decor of the restaurant has changed considerably and is outstanding. The service/ambience and the food were also outstanding. All coming together to make a fabulous evening and one to remember. Definitely one for the agenda for special occasions."

  • "Very good food, location, ambiance...however when it came time to pay the bill Shezan added an automatic service charge which was not clear. OK, no problem but as our party discussed leaving the "tip" the waiter kindly advised that it must be left "in cash" payable to him and not to add it in where it said "tip" on the bill. Yes, true. Once we figured out a service charge was already included, we had a big laugh at our "A- ha "moment but the waiter was none too pleased when we wrote a big "0.00" on th etip line. Most experienced diners in the UK would know not to leave an additional tip, we almost had to learn the hard way. We would return though as we did enjoy the meal and restaurant."

  • "We had a delicious dinner. The service was good although the waiter took our order by memory and forgot two of our dishes! The food was great atmosphere with the singer was brilliant. The 50% off is great and I would highly recommend! We parked outside for free and its just a 2 mons walk from Harrods! Portions are big and rise easily feeds two people. For £8.00 per portion I would hope so! We took lots home with us. Overall great value great food. We would return."

  • "Have passed Shezan quite a few times, as I work really close by and was finally able to go and experience it. Indian foods is one of my favourite cuisines and have been to many Indian restaurants. However this place was particularly great because it was very authentic and the menu had great vegetarian options. The staff also recommended a few dishes, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The place was really busy, however the staff were still efficient with our order. Shezan is hidden away, which I feel adds to the dining experience. Definitely worth a try!!!"

  • "Had a wonderful evening at Shezan! There are stairs that lead down to the main area of the restaurant which really adds to its relax atmosphere and the decor is truly unique. The staff were very friendly and although the food took a little longer to arrive, I personally preferred this as I felt my dinner was not rush and could enjoy my evening whilst listening to the jazz music being played. Great place for family and friends!!!"

  • "I regularly frequent Shezan's when I am in the UK, from my first visit I have been made to feel welcome. Fantastic authentic Pakistani cuisine and ambiance. Having thoroughly enjoyed evening meals and business lunches there alike I would highly recommend Shezan."

  • "If it wasn't for the 50% off a la carte menu it'd be expensive for what it is,overall it was fine but I wouldn't go back."

  • "Went to Shezan for lunch on a Sunday. Booked a table for three at 1 pm. Wanted to take advantage of the Toptable deal for 50% off food. The decor is an interesting mixture of Indian, middle eastern and Americana. For the first thirty minutes we were the only diners. The food was quite good and a value at 50% off. The meal took two hours which is a little slow even for a lazy Sunday. Would recommend if you are in the area and not in a particular hurry."
    dined on 03/11/2013
  • "The restaurant is beautifully kitted out but the service is poor. The table had to be set after we sat down and there were still remnants of the previous meal left behind. The food was mediocre and had a heated up feel rather than freshly prepared. The prices were way out of sync with what was on offer and even with the 50% offer, in my opinion did not give good value for money; without the offer the bill would have been the best part of a £100 and that is WITHOUT dessert and alcohol. I'd return for the sumptuous feel of the place but everything else was a disappointing 3rd place. Sort your management out Shezan and you might be able to justify the Knightsbridge costs that you without doubt incur!"

  • "This was an excellent Indian meal. The food was well presented and the portions were large. Offered a doggy bag for the left overs, a Joy."

  • "Wow. possibly the worst dining experience I've ever had. Arrived and was seated and told the waiter that we had theatre tickets and therefore were in a bit of a hurry. He was happy to oblige. Took 10 minutes to order drinks. another 15 minutes before these drinks arrived and our food order was taken. An hour after we had arrived, the food still had not arrived depsite asking for it 3 times and being told it was on its way. We left without eating as we'd be late for the theatre. Poppadoms were nice though."

  • "We dined there for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was mostly empty but still the service was average even though they had a total of two tables to service. The food was decent and with Toptable's 50% off offer, it was good value for the meal which would otherwise would have been expensive. Worth a try but I won't be rushing back"

  • "Simply poor quality and tasteless. Cost a fortune. Stay well clear."

  • "Me and a friend took advantage of the 50% off deal as we were meeting up in the area. The food was fantastic although we definitely could not afford to eat here without the deal. We had the lamb special - which was just delicious. I know the area is very wealthy but I'm sorry I just can't justify £17-£26 + for one curry dish (not including rice or sides). I have tried many Indian restaurants throughout London and the food was delicious - just with three times the price tag. It is not fine dining! Hope the restaurant doesn't mind me saying this. We had a really nice evening and the service was great."

  • "Don't be taken in by the '50 per cent off food' offer. The devil is in the small print, which states that seafood is excluded. This is a substantial part of the menu – at high prices (eg lobster tails £39, jumbo tiger prawns £39, black cod £35, sea bass £39). To benefit from reasonable prices we had to choose meat or vegetarian dishes. We might as well have booked a restrictive set-menu elsewhere. The food was quite good but the small print soured the experience and I was not surprised the restaurant was almost deserted, albeit this was a post-theatre booking. I found the decor rather too over-the-top for my taste. As we stuck to dishes included in the offer and didn't drink the bill was reasonable, but I doubt we'll be returning."

  • "Very expensive for what the price is ,with out the 50% off it would not be worth it. Service is ok ......takes a long time to get served. Food was very good Ambience was good too"
    dined on 14/08/2013
  • "Nothing special about this place. Our food took for ever to be served, the staff wasn't so helpful, the food didn't have anything special to it. The bill at the end, even with the 50% off, was rather high. The jazz singer and pianist were ok but the clients didn't seem t care about them."

  • "A fab location, good service & food. Good value with Toptable offer. Spicy food, but tasty"
    dined on 01/06/2013
  • "The current 50% off a la carte doesn't include anything from the seafood page. Staff whip dishes away without first asking if you're finished even if there is still food on them! Ordered the whole lobster. At £39 each expected them to be a decent size. They weren't. The lobster was burned so bad, the flesh was sticking to the inner shell. When asked for lobster fork, staff didn't even seem to know what this was. Why serve it if you do not have correct utensils? No water bowl came with this. Our local delivery place is so far superior to this laughable effort at a fifth of the cost, I urge you do not waste your money. Ridiculously overpriced. This could be forgiven if quality of food, service, portion sizes and staff were worthy. They aren't"

  • "We had a great time : our waiter advised us perfectly on our dishes, made us discover new dishes, and above all, was not pushy at all! Food quality was outstanding, atmosphere is charming. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!"

  • "very slow service. waited a long time to make our initial order and the time between courses was very long"
    dined on 09/03/2013
  • "We ate at Shezan as part of a '50% of all food' deal. The restaurant is easy to find and in a central location in Knightsbridge. The restaurant is large, dimly lit and the decor resembles that of an Indian palace. Whilst showing signs of age it still carried a certain ambience which I loved. Menu was extensive with many non-veg and veg options. We ordered a single entree, a curry and dhal for mains including some naan and a biryani. The portion sizes were HUGE resulting in quite a lot of food leftover (they packed the remaining food for us). We also had a glass of wine each, but no desserts. Overall damage was £47, which I felt was very reasonable for two people at a very good Indian restaurant. Will be going again."

  • "When me and my friend where seated it took ages to be served, we literally had to call a waiter over just to make an order, the food then took ages to arrive and not once did anyone ask use if we wanted anything else or if i was happy with the food. when it finally came time to pay for my meal again the waiter took ages to bring the bill over everything was just poorly organised and we seemed to notice that all the waiters paid a lot more attention to the bigger tables. I gonna assume this is probably so that they can get a tip though to be honest i'm surprised this restaurant is still open as it isn't really worth the price. Needless to say i will never be returning or recommending this place to anyone."
