The food at Shrimpy's is great,
the hot chicken wings had a fantastic flavour although were overpriced for the size and number you get. The crab burger was also amazing. Would definitely go again"

The charming lady who served us
was incredibly accommodating as we changed our reservation details at the last minute, made good recommendations from the menu and was very tolerant of our messy baby. A lovely summer afternoon with good fresh food."

Interesting venue, behind an old
filling station with a view over the canal. Went with client, not sure that I would use for a business lunch again but certainly would go with friends. Really good food, service very good with helpful and friendly staff. Slightly expensive for what it is but that's life I guess....."
dined on 18/07/2014
Perfect place to have a cold beer
and crab tempura burger on a hot summers evening, it was buzzing on a Tuesday evening, inside and out."
dined on 15/07/2014
Lovely evening spent on they
terrace with good food and wine!"

Shrimpys is the perfect venue -
great location, fuss free, & very cool, chilled ambience, really nice staff, and great food - sadly I hear it may be closing soon - big loss to the area. Thanks Shrimpys! Don't change :)"

This was my second visit and
probably bnow my last. It felt like the care and quality was gone and this was reflected by the empty tables even on a Friday night. My fried chicken with corn in the cob was just that.......moist chicken in a bland and soggy coating with corn. The crab burger was more of a success, so at least they haven't lost that high point from the menu. But sadly the cocktails too were off the mark. It feels like the hype and success has made them complacent, and standards have dropped to way below the quality expected for the price."
dined on 11/07/2014
On arrival there's an outside bar
that serves snacks with seats along the canal, a patio for alfresco dining but we went inside for a table for two – they also accommodate customers along the bar inside. The food was very good, we tried the meat options on the menu (my friend is not a fan of seafood). He absolutely enjoyed his meal with lots of hmmm with every mouthful. I tried the seafood offerings on a previous visit, that too was equaly yummy (their signature dish of Soft Shell Crab Burger although very good and come recommended in other reviews, I preferred other dishes more). Side dishes are a must. The staff were super and all come with a genuine smile and bags of helpfulness. Worth every penny, go have fun."

Had a lovely brunch here, would
have been even nicer if the sun had been shining. Ugly, modern street frontage belied the cute little hideaway behind. Relaxed environment (really good background music!) and really friendly service. Recommend the gorgeous octopus and chorizo. Little pricey than I would have preferred for brunch though."
dined on 29/06/2014
Friendly service, nice terrasse
outside especially in the summer. Only disappointment was the bill which got to 88pounds for two of us and that included a 27 pound bottle of wine. my burger was good and my girlfriend got a crab burger that was "ok". We will come back but probably only for a drink/cocktail on the nice terrasse with the cool music!"
dined on 27/06/2014
Been meaning to try it for a
while, so booked for a pre-Scala gig dinner. Good location and great outdoor area, although we were seated indoors at the bar. Good drink selection and food was fine - found the softshell crab burger rather overrated (the flavour was mainly from cheese), and service veered between great friendly and efficient to farcical (hint - if your bar staff don't know what a glass of house white wine is, you're in trouble). Would recommend for its great outdoor area and big tables but wouldn't return otherwise."
dined on 19/06/2014
This is a fabulous restaurant
situated on a unique site. Formerly a petrol staton it overlooks the canal and the granary square. The menu is varied and the cocktails are amazing. We had a great time sitting on the terrace and our waiter was very informative with menu suggestions. Try the slaw it is a very fresh addition to the meal. Will be back again as it is such a great eaterie!"
dined on 19/06/2014
Great food and a lovely place to
sit while the sun goes down. Let down by ropey service and prices that are about 30% too high. I would not go back despite enjoying my evening."
dined on 18/06/2014
A small and crowded restaurant
with good food and friendly staff."
dined on 17/06/2014
Nice food and cocktails - I would
definitely recommend the soft shelled crab burger. Perfect on a sunny evening sitting outside overlooking the canal - a nice secluded spot."
dined on 07/06/2014
Really enjoyed our experience,
sitting outside. The food is mostly fried or buttery, therefore I would not advise if you are on diet, but it is extremely tasty. Very original corn mash and fried peppers. I was told that the fries were homemade - maybe it was made in a home, but it did not taste as if it were made of real potatoes on the spot (tasted more like a frozen package one) - so if you are particular with fries - avoid it. Enjoyed the fried crab burger."
dined on 06/06/2014
Went to shrimpy's for lunch.Sat on
the terrace overlooking the canal, all the food was incredibly fresh and tasty. The double cheeseburger was meaty juicy and cheesy all the good things you want from a Burgar and twice the size. The beef tostada was a very fresh mound of radish and lettuce, sitting on a very thin slice of delicate beef and a crispy Totilla and the Jicama & orange salad was a really interesting fresh acidic salad with bits of radish that tasted of granny smith perfect accompaniment to heavy meaty food. The Pisco sours are also delicious and the service was 1st class."
dined on 03/06/2014
Great food, great drinks and a
fashionable, cosmopolitan crowd of fellow diners to reaffirm the glowing reviews i'd heard about Shrimpy's before going. Shame it will only be around for another 6 months, get there before it's too late!"
dined on 30/05/2014
Great food and ambiance. Lovely to
be able to eat sitting outside overlooking the canal . The soft shell crab burgers are sensational, overall, very good value."
dined on 30/05/2014
As a pop-up restaurant, Shrimpy's
is only there until November, but was a nice surprise for dinner before a King's Place concert. The dishes were very good (at pretty expensive prices but c'est la vie) and everyone serving was incredibly friendly and helpful. I'd describe this as a bit of a find. "
dined on 24/05/2014
Ordered two bloody marias to start
with which were excellent. We shared the chicken wings which were amazing the best we have ever had. While we were having our starter it started to rain and the team were great at offering to get us a table inside we refused then the rain got worse and they came back to check if we were ok, we didn't have to ask. To the mains soft shell crab burger was good as was the ceviche. Will definitely go back."
dined on 24/05/2014
Flank steak was good cooked, but
meat-quality only average. Other food and drinks good, but nothing special. Ambience special, but not as great as expected from the front of the filling station. However, nice at canal. Service was very, very good."
dined on 23/05/2014
The staff were great couldn't do
enough for us and changed a cocktail foc that one of us didn't like. Food was lovely, real shame they're closing - please pop up somewhere else! "

Shrimpy's at the King's Cross
Filling Station is quite the find. A great view and vibrant atmosphere makes it a great place to go with friends - the food is also great to share. Everything we tried was delicious and unique. Our server patiently explained all the unknown terms and ingredients to us. Attention to detail is great too: vintage glassware enhanced the special occasion."
dined on 21/05/2014
Trendy dude/comfort-food place
with great outdoor space."
dined on 20/05/2014
An interesting settings is the
first reason to visit. Great for a summers evening. The menu is limited but the quality is excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive. A relaxed almost beach hut type atmosphere. If you're in the kings cross area, have a go and try something a bit different. "
dined on 19/05/2014
The food at this place is amazing.
Every dish was absolutely delicious. Stand outs were the chicken wings, soft shell crab burger and the peanut butter sandwich desert all of which blew us away. Great cocktails, great ambiance. Can't wait to go back."
dined on 18/05/2014
Food and service were good (I had
the recommended crab burger), and the setting was funky. However even for central London it's expensive, especially since it's more of a lunch menu."
dined on 18/05/2014
super chilled sunny evening at
Schrimpy's! very nice waiter and delicious plates, especially the ceviche and the soft-shell crab burgers. I can't believe this awesome place will be knocked down to build apartments... quite sad..."

Our second visit to Shrimpys in a
month. It just keeps getting better and better. "
dined on 12/05/2014
This place has a nice atmosphere
(particularly if you like 80s music!!) and serves up some quite unusual and very lovely food. Good service too. Have been a couple of times and was delighted on both occasions."
dined on 12/05/2014
We had a great night at Shrimpys -
the burgers are delicious and the starters we had, a cervice, octopus and chicken wings were all amazing. The only negative comment is that the soft shell crab didn't need to be battered - it's much nicer if you just flash fry it."
dined on 10/05/2014
Best thing about Shrimpy's was the
novelty of eating in a small pop-up restaurant with a great relaxed vibe. Decor and people we're very cool. Nice to eat some novel food - crab burger rocks. Not the cheapest meal out but worth it - the food is good."
dined on 08/05/2014
Sat outside under the heaters,
nice little restaurant and staff really friendly. The house white is a little dicey but apart from that would recommend it. The crab burger was amazing - worth a visit just to try one of those. "
dined on 06/05/2014
After all the initial Hype has
died down shrimpys has become a mainstay, a classic, a sure bet. Always a great atmosphere, always great food and most importantly always great service. Home from home. "
dined on 02/05/2014
This restaurant is small and well
hidden but they really get the experience right. We eat inside as it was still April and we thought it would be a bit cold out on the large undercover area. To prove us wrong 20 people turned up straight after us in one large group and set about having what looked like a fantastic time outside. There is a very nice view across the canal visible from inside and out. The food was interesting from a smallish menu but every single thing was done perfectly. Food was well presented, staff were excellent at their jobs and the atmosphere was great. It's about one minute's walk to King's Place if you are there for a music event or the art galleries. "
dined on 26/04/2014
I'd heard the stories and read the
rave reviews about the soft shell crab burger and just had to try this myself. From the very first bite I was hooked, utterly delicious. The staff were able to give advice about all the food on the menu and recommend suitable beverages to match with your food choices. It may be small (or rather cozy) with wonderfully quirky decor, but the food certainly delivered."
dined on 25/04/2014
Arrived and the music playing was
amazing. The host was great. Sat at the bar and enjoyed the view of the kitchen. Food was AMAZING. Seabass, chicken wings, skirt and a double soft shell crab burger. The play list was amazing all night, staff on point. Can't wait to go back "
dined on 18/04/2014
Absolutely loved shrimpys. We
started with drinks outside in the sunshine and then went inside for the most fabulous food. We shared starters and they were all delicious and then the soft shell crab burger was insanely good. Can't wait to go back!"
dined on 16/04/2014
Shrimpy's still feels a little
"unfound" despite being five minutes walk from King's Cross. Hidden behind a huge sheet of corrugated plastic it may give the impression of not being worth a visit but on the other side of the plastic is a lovely view of the river with plenty of outdoor space. Indoors is cramped, frankly, but comfortable - the tables do turn quickly so reservations are essential. Eat outside if weather permits. The food was great though I would like to see a little more choice for vegetarians than the single main dish (though it was delicious). The frickles are to die for!!"
