A word from Simpson's In The Strand
Simpson's is one of the few London restaurants offering only the finest quality British ingredients cooked to perfection in classic British style. The restaurant's speciality is Scottish beef on the bone that has been aged for 28 days for maximum flavour. The beef is carved at guests' tables from antique silver-domed trolleys, which is a practice that began over 150 years ago and for which Simpson's is world-renowned. Other Simpson’s signature dishes include classics such as potted shrimps, roast saddle of lamb and steak and kidney pie.

Guests can also enjoy classic cocktails in Knight’s Bar, an art deco cocktail lounge located on the first floor. It is the perfect place to enjoy either a pre-dinner cocktail or after-dinner aperitif.

A wonderful "old school" restaurant with white linen cloths and impeccable service. Food as good but not spectacular, but you come here for the tradition, the ambiance and the history. I came here in my 20's and thankfully, it is almost the same in my 40's. Remember to tip the carver! Highly recommended!

We had breakfast at Simpsons in The Strand, expecting a great experience, especially because of the 10 deadly sins, which were recommended by the restaurant as being very special. They were not. The portions were rather small, the ramekins with baked beans came straight from the fridge. They had not been put in the microwave before serving. We tried to contact the waiter or waitress about it, but they both were not in the room and when they appeared they did not pay attention to us. My husband had to walk over to them to get their attention, while there were only 10 people in the restaurant. The coffee was also very bad, so we ordered cappuccinos, which we had to pay extra for. Definitely no value for money!

Had not been to simpsons in the strand for a few years and have to say was very impressed with the food and the service. Being a vegetarian I found the starter and the main both delicious and full of flavour. My husband had the roast need and said it was amazing. Brilliant attentive staff too.

Sunday lunch at Simpson's is always a treat. I can't recall how many times I have eaten there but must around than 19-20 times. Had the roast beef so often I opted this time for the Steak & Kidney Pie. It was excellent and the mashed potatoes deliciously decadent. The only gripe was that the Grand Divan had too many - noisy- children. The whole world appears to be bending over backwards to be child friendly but it is a shame that young children pay scant regard to adults' ears. However, I will be back, and soon, I hope.

I came specially for a Sunday lunch of roast beef, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. The beef was excellent, but the Yorkshire pudding was rather leathery - not as good as my Mum's! The lobster soup was very good, as was the syrup pudding with vanilla custard. A good selection of wines, even for those sold by the glass. The service was very attentive and friendly. The old-fashioned decor and atmosphere made it a Sunday lunch out of the ordinary.

Dining at Simpson's was a birthday treat for me from my wife as it was something I had always wanted to do. It lived up to all expectations with exceptional food, service and atmosphere. It is not cheap but the location is excellent and of course not the sort of place you would visit on a regular basis. Definitely a treat for that special occasion. When in London.

I have eaten here many times and always been "wowed." Tradition, quality and slick service make this a great lunch spot. The beef from the trolley was exquisite and the service was discrete yet attentive. My only niggle was being given the bill without having asked for it.

This was an excellent evening from the time we arrived with a curtious reception and very helpful staff all through the meal. My wife had the beef wellington and I the Steak and Kidney pudding. It was our 40th anniversary and a nice touch was a piped mesage on the dessert plate. Thank you to all at Simpson's for a wonderful evening.

Extensive menu of good old fashioned food that I like to eat. Proper puddings. Service generally good. Possibly a bit expensive for what's on offer but nice atmosphere in the wood panelled dining room and you're paying for that. Generally good. Not trendy or modern but good place to take relatives for a meal. (My Mum loved it.)

Visited Simpsons many times, always for special occasions, this being our sons graduation & our silver wedding anniversary, there was no hesitation when the question was asked where to eat. Once seated we waited 10 minutes for menus & for a drinks order to be taken, a waiter offered bread rolls & attempted to silver serve them, in the end we just took them as it was a little embarrassing for everybody, starters were good, the main course & desserts were very disappointing, beef Wellingtons over cooked, beef from the trolley was tender but the jus to concentrated, roast pots over cooked, mashed potatoes cold, treacle pudding, was a disaster burnt cream had been boiled, An institution of the city which has lost its culinary style.

We dined at Simpson's before a theatre night. It was wonderful in every way! What a beautiful setting with friendly, attentive service. The food was excellent and arrived quickly so we did not feel rushed for the theatre. Everything we had was delicious! I had the trout and my husband had the Scottish Beef. We did the 3 course meal which is very well-priced. I would highly recommend Simpsons for a very special dining experience!

Unfortunately, I was deeply disappointed. L 'environment, the music creates a great atmosphere but the table service was very bad for the local level. We ordered the main dishes made with Rost Beed and Lamb, and have been a huge disappointment. The meat had no flavor, the gravy was inconsistent, Yorkshire Pudding burned. The only thing enough the taste of Soup of the Day and good meal of bread. I thought that was probably the Master Chef on vacation and in its place has cooked a student

My fiancé and I decided on 2 beef wellingtons, the waitress did warn us that it would take 45 mins to make which we were ok with. BUT once the beef wellingtons came, the service went downhill (maybe cause a large party just came). It was hard to alert any waiter as none even passed by or checked up on us. We waited so long that we decided to skip dessert and just get the bill. When the bill came we handed the waiter our credit card but half way through processing he realizes he forgot to charge the still water. He stops the transaction and promptly gets a new bill. Bottom line: This restaurant unfortunately has more attention in charging customers than providing good service. Overall I was quite disappointed.

The beef was not quite as good as I had hoped for I was expecting melt in the mouth but it was in places tough, it was an enjoyable experience though. I dont think I would have wanted to pay £31 for the beef had the early cheaper option not been available. However the homemade gravy and horseradish were outstanding. Male waiters (excluding the table carvers) need to put smiles on their faces, it was the women who made the dining experience very special. Wine list is over the top in my opinion, not a lot of choice for a more modest budget. The history of Simpsons and the traditions make it an experience not to be missed but with a little more thought this could have got 5 stars and would make me want to return.

My wife and I flew to the UK for a vacation. We intended on having our final meal at Simpson's . We were not disappointed. I started with the lobster soup and my wife the scallops. Both were excellent, and we would order them again. We both enjoyed the Scottish Beef and were very impressed. You may think it's a small portion as it's not pilled high, but trust that it's very filling and tasty at the same time. The cabbage was a very nice surprise, best cabbage I've had in a very long time. Dessert was treacle pudding and a peach, apricot and raspberry tart. All in all this meal did not disappoint and we would highly recommend Simpson's to everyone.

Great old fashioned service. Great tableside preparation. Prime rib and sides exceptional. Famous lobster soup was grainy/floury with mild flavor. Small by-the-glass wine list. This restaurant is mentioned in the book Silkworm - so had to ckeck it out. Had the set priced menu which was better value. Pure indulgence, the roast is a must, worth the additional cost just to have it carved at the table - generous portions. Did not try the sweets too full, although they were not the mist inspiring so would recommend starter and main
