A word from Simpson's In The Strand
Simpson's is one of the few London restaurants offering only the finest quality British ingredients cooked to perfection in classic British style. The restaurant's speciality is Scottish beef on the bone that has been aged for 28 days for maximum flavour. The beef is carved at guests' tables from antique silver-domed trolleys, which is a practice that began over 150 years ago and for which Simpson's is world-renowned. Other Simpson’s signature dishes include classics such as potted shrimps, roast saddle of lamb and steak and kidney pie.

Guests can also enjoy classic cocktails in Knight’s Bar, an art deco cocktail lounge located on the first floor. It is the perfect place to enjoy either a pre-dinner cocktail or after-dinner aperitif.

We have been coming to Simpson's since 1963, probably 20 times for dinner. it's more of a tradition than anything else. How a restaurant that bills itself as an Edwardian institution can totally eliminate a dress code is bewildering. For evening dinner,at the table next to us was a group of 4. While the ladies were neat and proper, one of the men wore a T shirt and jeans and whenever he leaned forward he displayed the label on his underpants. The other man wore a rumpled shirt with 3 buttons down the front undone. Fewer than half the men wore jackets. The food and service were average, so with declining ambiance, I question the reason to return

I have been coming to Simpson's in the Strand for years. It has never been less than excellent. During my last visit, I was there with another old hand and a first-time visitor. We were all completely delighted by every part of our meal—the decoration, the service, and most of all the truly delightful food. We are long past the days when English Cuisine was a joke, but Simpson's reminds us that it was always a parody. Well-prepared roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, and potatoes made from the freshest ingredients is always worth eating. Simpson's makes it truly wonderful. Besides, my companions were just as pleased by the trout and other dishes as I was by the beef. Simpson's has high standards and a classic style, but it is not at all stuffy.

The meal started out ok and just went down hill from there. The Italian looking Maître d reprimanded the people carving the meat in front of us at our table and actually took meat off of one of my guests plates before giving it to him. He also dragged the tails of his coat across another plate of food just prior to it being served . Now, I've eaten at far better places than this and all of them exhibit good manners and discretion. I have never, ever had such bad manners exhibited, anywhere at any time. The man should have been fired on the spot.

We had a fabulous romantic dinner at Simpson's. After paying a visit to the bar on the first floor - great Martinis by the way - we headed to the Grand Divan. The roast beef and the treacle sponge were perfect as always. I hope, they never change. Good old times!

The food was ok. The history of the restaurant was very interesting and the reason we booked. Service was not good. The Waiters rushed us, which appeared to be unnecessary as the restaurant was not full. I would not recommend this spot.

in 30 years ... am think i recognised a member of staff! No change in decor, even the cutlery and salt and pepper cruet are the same. The food is good , better than it used to be... the service I am afraid, although friendly was abysmal. Nice waiter overwhelmed by the sudden influx of a large group of japanese tourists. I may come back in another 30 years... masking sure I have plenty of time to spare.

Went to Simpsons for our anniversary, and from start to finish the food and service were fantastic. When they called to confirm the reservation they asked if it was any special occasion and I told them it was an anniversary. When we had finished they brought out a stick toffee sponge with happy anniversary written on the plate for us to share - what a nice touch

Thank you to Simpsons for an amazing experience on Sunday 21st September. We ate at Simpsons as a family occasion (8 adults) as my father is terminally ill and we are trying to find time to make special memories. My dad had heard of Simpsons legondary roast beef and we weren't disappointed. The service was amazing and the food was more than we could have wished for. It was a fantastic experience and the staff had read my special request note on the booking form for a 'perfect dinner' and made it happen. It is the personal touches that matter. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Let me set the stage .... last night in London and I wanted to finish our stay with a very nice dinner that would send off the group of with a lasting memory. Unfortunately, the memory will be of a great missed opportunity. The service was friendly, courteous and efficient. The restaurant was so hot that all the gentlemen had to remove their jackets to be comfortable. The food was average at best. Will not be recommending!

Many traditional London institutions convey the sad impression of giving up their unique character in order to cater to a uniform mass of tourists. Not so Simpson's In The Stand, which has stayed true to itself; a go-to address for the cultivated lover of fine food. The prices are superlative value for money if you consider the quality of both food, service, and ambience. This is a place where every waiter is enthusiastic about their work - and justly so. Also, the wine selection. It has something for everyone, although, naturally, prices for a Margaux are as one would expect. So, if you're a sophisticated person with a taste for the apex of traditional British cuisine, go there. You have no excuse not to.

A wonderful "old school" restaurant with white linen cloths and impeccable service. Food as good but not spectacular, but you come here for the tradition, the ambiance and the history. I came here in my 20's and thankfully, it is almost the same in my 40's. Remember to tip the carver! Highly recommended!

We had breakfast at Simpsons in The Strand, expecting a great experience, especially because of the 10 deadly sins, which were recommended by the restaurant as being very special. They were not. The portions were rather small, the ramekins with baked beans came straight from the fridge. They had not been put in the microwave before serving. We tried to contact the waiter or waitress about it, but they both were not in the room and when they appeared they did not pay attention to us. My husband had to walk over to them to get their attention, while there were only 10 people in the restaurant. The coffee was also very bad, so we ordered cappuccinos, which we had to pay extra for. Definitely no value for money!

Sunday lunch at Simpson's is always a treat. I can't recall how many times I have eaten there but must around than 19-20 times. Had the roast beef so often I opted this time for the Steak & Kidney Pie. It was excellent and the mashed potatoes deliciously decadent. The only gripe was that the Grand Divan had too many - noisy- children. The whole world appears to be bending over backwards to be child friendly but it is a shame that young children pay scant regard to adults' ears. However, I will be back, and soon, I hope.

I came specially for a Sunday lunch of roast beef, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. The beef was excellent, but the Yorkshire pudding was rather leathery - not as good as my Mum's! The lobster soup was very good, as was the syrup pudding with vanilla custard. A good selection of wines, even for those sold by the glass. The service was very attentive and friendly. The old-fashioned decor and atmosphere made it a Sunday lunch out of the ordinary.

Visited Simpsons many times, always for special occasions, this being our sons graduation & our silver wedding anniversary, there was no hesitation when the question was asked where to eat. Once seated we waited 10 minutes for menus & for a drinks order to be taken, a waiter offered bread rolls & attempted to silver serve them, in the end we just took them as it was a little embarrassing for everybody, starters were good, the main course & desserts were very disappointing, beef Wellingtons over cooked, beef from the trolley was tender but the jus to concentrated, roast pots over cooked, mashed potatoes cold, treacle pudding, was a disaster burnt cream had been boiled, An institution of the city which has lost its culinary style.

We dined at Simpson's before a theatre night. It was wonderful in every way! What a beautiful setting with friendly, attentive service. The food was excellent and arrived quickly so we did not feel rushed for the theatre. Everything we had was delicious! I had the trout and my husband had the Scottish Beef. We did the 3 course meal which is very well-priced. I would highly recommend Simpsons for a very special dining experience!
