A word from Simpson's In The Strand
Simpson's is one of the few London restaurants offering only the finest quality British ingredients cooked to perfection in classic British style. The restaurant's speciality is Scottish beef on the bone that has been aged for 28 days for maximum flavour. The beef is carved at guests' tables from antique silver-domed trolleys, which is a practice that began over 150 years ago and for which Simpson's is world-renowned. Other Simpson’s signature dishes include classics such as potted shrimps, roast saddle of lamb and steak and kidney pie.

Guests can also enjoy classic cocktails in Knight’s Bar, an art deco cocktail lounge located on the first floor. It is the perfect place to enjoy either a pre-dinner cocktail or after-dinner aperitif.

  • "Advertised in Opentable with a offer of a fixed price menu with no restrictions, told it was not available during weekends Showed the offer to management and was told they was aware of the misrepresentation but there was nothing I could do about it I had my guests so stayed and paid, not happy at being taken in as I thought I could trust this institution"

  • "We have so few of these proper old school restaurants left now, its a must to visit. Takes you back to a time when service was everything. Places like this put the "Great" in Great Britain !"

  • "Very stuffy. Tired. Beyond expensive. Despite roast beef being their speciality it was poorly presented on the plate. Looked unappetizing."
    dined on 23/08/2014
  • "Great old fashioned service. Great tableside preparation. Prime rib and sides exceptional. Famous lobster soup was grainy/floury with mild flavor. Small by-the-glass wine list. Overall go there if you value tradition and elegant ambiance with very good food, albeit not the greatest meal you've had."

  • "This restaurant is mentioned in the book Silkworm - so had to ckeck it out. Had the set priced menu which was better value. Pure indulgence, the roast is a must, worth the additional cost just to have it carved at the table - generous portions. Did not try the sweets too full, although they were not the mist inspiring so would recommend starter and main"

  • "Probably the expectation of my bf and I were too high. We both got a running stomach after dinner there. Notwithstanding this, the food is less tasty than expected. Many tourists there"

  • "It was 50 years since my last visit to Simpsons. The decor, ambiance, staff, service, food & wines were of the same excellence that I remembered. It truly is a Dining experience to be savoured and remembered at Simpsons. We had travelled from Northern Ireland to entertain my daughter who has recently secured a new job in London and let her know how proud we were of her and to show her something of the best in London - Simpsons did the trick! The only thing that had changed, was that some of the other diners, by their dress, did not show the same respect for the occasion as diner's did 50 years ago, but that is a sign of the times!"

  • "The restaurant obviously live on there reputation ,judging by the amount of Asian and Americans in there,no wonder English fare is considered not good.Yorkshire puddings and potatoes were really not good, beef was excellent. Prices high.In honesty the local pub served better fare at much better price. No chandeliers though.Staff charming. Suggest that the restaurant need to Cook fresh and do not serve Yorkshire pudding that have been sitting around they really do need to be served straight from the oven if cannot do that do not serve. Roast Potatoes were obviously reheated, same again if you cannot do them fresh do not bother to serve"

  • "We had drinks in the upstairs bar then repaired to the dining room for dinner. i went there for the roast beef & Yorkshire pudding. I love the big trollies they use to bring the beef to your table. It's about the tradition, the show and the beef for me. It's a splurge, but I enjoyed it. You are next door to the Savoy Theater and, of course, very near to many other West End theaters, so the it's a convenient combination with an evening at the theater."

  • "Our evening at Simpsons was rather disappointing. We eat out in central London quite often, and have come to expect better. Nothing was dreadful, but nothing was excellent either."

  • "I dined at Simpsons with my parents upon our holiday in London due to the Sherlock Holmes link. The roast lamb was beautiful, taking me back to my childhood with my nan. I also loved the scallops for my entree and the peach crumble desert was absolutely delicious. The red wine was also great and the capaccino was the best I have ever experienced. Thanks for a fine dining experience in a wonderful restaurant, the ambience was incredible."
    dined on 14/08/2014
  • "Wonderful to see that the tradition of excellent food and service has not changed over the years. The finest traditional British food available anywhere. Wonderful roast beef just as I remember from over 40 years ago. Great experience."
    dined on 14/08/2014
  • "A wonderful ambience, and as long as you are seated before 7pm you can take advantage of the fixed price menu, which is a real treat. A word of warning though: The time soon flies by; we had been in there for two hours without noticing at all and had to rather rush off after our dessert to make the theatre."
    dined on 12/08/2014
  • "This place has a long history and it's worth trying for the excellent food and service."
    dined on 10/08/2014
  • "The whole ambience of Simpsons was a interesting insight , to know this was "the" place to go. Service was very good, we did have to wait a little while before ordering or food, but it was not a problem. The food was top quality, well presented and served by polite staff."
    dined on 10/08/2014
  • "I had dinner at Simpsons to celebrate my birthday, accompanied by my daughter on the 9th of August. The whole eavening was lovely. The food and service could not be falted. A superb experience."

  • "5 of us had dinner and the service was outstanding. We felt as though we were the only people there. The food was wonderful"

  • "Right from the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us, we were told we could go to the bar and the table was ready whenever we wanted it. Highly recommend a trip to knights bar which must have been the gentlemans smoking room in times gone by. When we got to the restaurant area menus and water we're waiting and the sommelier came straight to us with the wine lists. The food was fantastic with just enough time between each course. I booked this for my girlfriends birthday as she had been wanting to come for some years and thoroughly enjoyed it, key staff knew the occasion and at some point all came and said happy birthday and spoke to us"

  • "This was my second visit to Simpson's and I took a friend for his first visit. The building and interior is so stunning you could almost spend the time wandering around soaking up the history and not eat! It was a quiet lunchtime during the holidays, so sosnt have the buzz of my first visit but we enjoyed our meals and the service was great. The staff were very accommodation and happy to make slight changes to orders, eg peas instead of cabbage and a cheese board of only cheddar!"
    dined on 08/08/2014
  • "Very very sloppy service. They hardly seemed interested in their customers at all."
    dined on 07/08/2014
  • "A London legend and the bar, the staff, the restaurant itself and the prices promise great class. The food, however, slightly fails to deliver. Not that there was anything wrong with it but it just did not sing as one would expect at these prices. No excuses it was simply a bit boring as if the kitchen had been producing the same things for so long they were becoming somewhat automated. As is depressingly usual for London the wine list was simply an outrageously priced disgrace but Simpsons is far from alone in that."
    dined on 07/08/2014
  • "Our lunch at Simpsons was disappointing. The restaurant building is fantastic and the staff and service were excellent. Unfortunately the food was very poor. Considering that this restaurant is in the more expensive bracket the food was not up to the standard and quality I would expect. Such a shame. We will sadly not return again"
    dined on 06/08/2014
  • "Simpsons is a high quality British restaurant. The service is as good as you will get anywhere . The food is traditional British cooking and wonderfull. Treat yourself to a meal at Simpsons, you will not be disapointed."
    dined on 04/08/2014
  • "The restaurant looks beautiful, the service is friendly, warm and polite, and the food is beautiful. I can't fault this place."
    dined on 04/08/2014
  • "Simpson's continues to try and recreate dining from a prior time but some of their actions are starting to look tired and artificial. The night we dined there most of the tables were taken up by Asian tourists who must have been part of a group tour. They were not properly dressed for Simpson's, a faux pas which would have prevented them from being seated in the past. The food was good with roasts from the cart still served at your table. The meat didn't seem quite as good as I remembered and the Yorkshire pudding was overcooked. The prices are very high with wine being particularly overpriced. Simpson't needs to change if they are going to survive."

  • "Wonderful restaurant , great food and very attentive staff. A very memorable birthday experience"

  • "We had the Roast rib and it was very nice. My mother wanted to have a salad, not potatoes,so they kindly replaced it (We really appreciate that)."
    dined on 27/07/2014
  • "My first visit to Simpsons and I was most impressed. We met with two overseas friends and the whole experience was memorable from the wonderful service to the roast dinner. OK the £300 might seem be a tad steep for a Sunday lunch but if you exclude the drinks it works out at about £50 a head which makes the whole experience reasonably priced"
    dined on 27/07/2014
  • "It is always nice to spend time at Simpson's, whether for business or pleasure. Great service and food, a very nice piano music, not too loud just entertaining."
    dined on 26/07/2014
  • "Had lunch on a busy Saturday after hitting the Knightsbridge bustle. Cool and welcoming respite from the heat and the busy streets. A warm welcome and service was exemplary. We had the fixed price lunch and I would highly recommend that you pay the little extra for the prime roast rib of beef - portions and taste was out of this world - lovely experience."
    dined on 26/07/2014
  • "Excellent Food. We came two couples for birthday celebration. Only dissapointment was sloow service and that the waiters were far from attentive. The ladies toilettes were a total mess, I was shocked."
    dined on 25/07/2014
  • "I was very disappointed with my visit on 25/07/14. The service was sloppy, I prefer my wine in the glass not on the table, the starter order was wrong and the cabbage that came with the roast beef raw. This restaurant has made the quantum leap from one of Londons finest to an overpriced tourist trap which is so sad given its fine history. I have eaten there many times in the past but this visit will sadly be my last."
    dined on 25/07/2014
  • "We always go back to Simpson's for great food, great service and a wonderful setting."
    dined on 25/07/2014
  • "This was our first time at Simpson's for a year or so after working abroad, and we were not let down. Stepping into the building reminded us of what we had been missing. Although we dined in the early afternoon rather than in the evening as is usual, the standard was as good as ever. we both had the beef, which was cooked to perfection. The Yorkshire puddings half filled the plates on their own! Service was polite, friendly and efficient without being intrusive. Yet again we were unable to fault Simpson's and are still happy to highly recommend it."
    dined on 25/07/2014
  • "the uncomfortable services broke the nice dinner meal . Although their beef wellington was really great , but the train of waiters was terrible . I had to refill water by myself all the time . And the wine I ordered wasn't come until I finished the beef .Without any smile or reaction on waiters' poker face , except the receptionist . Even the meal was great , I might not come again , only if there are some change or something else ."
    dined on 23/07/2014
  • "Had an excellent lunch last week - whilst the food was delicious, it was very pricey - especially as we were not offered the "set lunch" menu - I would have asked but as I was with clients that would have been embarrassing! The wine was good but again - not a bargain. I would always recommend Simpsons just for the beef but overall it was really good."
