Diner Reviews
  • "The whole experience was poor value for money. Although the restaurant was very quirky - I would have expected a better standard of food. The reservation system was frankly annoying. They called me up and left a voicemail asking me to confirm my booking. They then called me again a day before asking me exactly the same question."

  • "Had a fabulous evening at Sketch. Staff were very attentive and friendly, and the food was outstanding. The lemon foam dessert was exquisite! "

  • "Whilst it may not stand amongst the more well known restaurants in the public eye, or have a TV celeb chef at the helm, Sketch is by far the best dining experience I've had in London to date. From the moment we entered the restaurant where the extremely friendly staff showed us to our table, until the sad moment when we had to leave, everything was perfect! The wine list is varied and caters for all budgets, the trendy, cool surroundings make for a relaxed dining experience and the food is just heaven. The rump steak and the bubble gum ice cream deserve special mention! Despite the bill for 2 persons (3 course, 2 sides and wine) may induce tears, the experience will live long after the tastes have gone. Will definitely return."

  • "The staff are super friendly and make you feel as ease. The restaurant room is pretty amazing and I think this is probably why you go there. The food is OK, it was luke warm. Starters were very good, but the mains were average. The bar area is cool too. I would return but would be aware of how much it will cost for an OK meal but great venue!"

  • "Good Food, excellent and trendy ambience! The waiter was sympathetic but forgot our drinks (but didn't charge for it). We order a starter and the main dish at the same time and we were happy to enjoy the trendy environment. The food, nevertheless came so quick that in 30 minutes we were done! So if you are in a hurry that's perfect! Unfortunately that wasn't our case..."

  • "Quirky, expensive...memorable....no truer word spoken when it is said you get what you pay for ! terrific meal, great environment although the high ceilings can create an echoey sound...."

  • "We loved everything about Sketch from the moment we arrived. The staff was helpful and so nice. The service was FIVE STAR ***** The décor is fantastic! The food was amazing!!! We had afternoon tea one day and fell in love. We returned a few days later to have dinner in the Gallery. PERFECTION!!! My halibut was the best that I have ever had. We had a rice dish with lobster bisque that was heaven. The cocktails were yummy. There is nothing that I would change. I wish we lived in London but we had to return home to Phoenix, Arizona. I can't wait for my next visit. I would recommend to everyone. Thank you for a lovely experience. Fondly, Kimberly"

  • "I went to sketch really for the atmosphere, but I was pleasantly surprised when the food was served. I had a pumpkin veloute which was serviced to perfection, and the salmon filet, with the gnocchi. I must admit the gnocchi was much better than the salmon, and I would recommend it for anybody going."

  • "We were in london for only a few days and wanted to be sure we tried Sketch. The outcome was that our dinner was delicious, the onion rings - amazing, the fish and chicken were worth their price and everything else - delightful. Sketch is a creative, adventuresome time and we'll be back to share it with our friends and family."

  • "Went for a quick dinner, good wine list and menu. However for the price food was acceptable, not remarkable. Somewhere fun to go for something a bit different but not a patch on the lecture room and library upstairs. Told the artist was changing this month so will be interesting to see what happens to the space."

  • "Chestnut veloute starter was delicious...main and dessert were forgettable - was expecting more from the food given the prices. However on the whole it was a lovely evening music, ecclectic dining furniture, friendly and helpful staff and a very unique toilet experience. ps. we were a little early for our table and so waited in the bar which was so dark we were forced to read the cocktail menu by the light of our smart phones....as did a few others!"

  • "Had a really fun evening here, it's got a good buzz & service was excellent. Quality of food & wine list was also v impressive."

  • "Worth going at least once for the quirky decor. Food is interesting and a good range but still felt a bit overpriced. Portions are large (none of us could manage dessert - shame as the malabar is yummy.) I had visited before where they had a £55 3 course menu which is reasonable, but that didn't seem to be available this time. Hence a bill of 350 for 4 of us, 2 courses + a few drinks and a bottle of wine in the lower price range. Great if you are on business though."

  • "...but poor food. I went there to show the amazing settings to a visitor. Had been there for drinks before and to the other restaurant. Really unimpressive food. Nearly no work on it and quite a bill at the end. Not worth the money at all if it wasn't for the athmosphere and the dramatic settings. Excellent address to impress friends when going out, definitely recommended for that but definitely not for the food. The service was lovely though."

  • "We had a very enjoyable evening at Sketch Gallery. The vibe in this place is great. Really enjoyed the interior. Food was fantastic and so was the service."

  • "Very cool venue. We all liked the funky decor, mismatched chairs, pod toilets. Service was efficient, waiters were chattier than usual restaurants. Limited but good menu. It was our 2nd visit and we will be back!"

  • "Food is very good and well presented. Service is rushed and staff seemed very hassled. Overall Gallery is noisy and hectic, so not a relaxing meal. Buzzy and lively but a bit too much which detracts from experience."

  • "Sketch Gallery is very nice. Crazy creative decor, good food, but little portions (sometimes much too little), terrific background music. Getting a little bit touristic for my taste. however, it´s still a great place."

  • "Sketch is a place that begs a visit. Because of how it looks, because it's such a great place to people-watch, because the food is so good and the toilets, yes the toilets, are so SO great. I could use up all of this review raving on the fantastic architecture and design, on the fantastic Mork&Mindy toilets that had me going back again and again even when there was nothing left to go back for. But in case you think this detracts from the food - it doesn't. The food is fantastic. Original, inventive, and well-constructed, with flavours and colours I wish everyone everywhere would pair - and the best is saved for last: a Sketch dessert makes the whole meal worth eating. Sketch is so London I can't believe it took me so long to visit."

  • "Food was good, no doubt about it. But the best thing about this place its the music and the ambiance. It's a worth a visit."

  • "We went to Sketch for a special celebration - I had high expectations and I was not disappointed! As a starter I had a tomato concassé with coconut milk, lemongrass and ginger, marshmallow, burrata ice cream. All flavours blended so well together - a real joy to the palate. As a main I had the pan-fried fillet of sea bass. It was really nice, however I found my husband's choice of crispy suckling pig with foie gras was much tastier. For dessert, I had Love Chocolate. It was OK, but again my husband's dessert was amazing: MALABAR (Lemon foam, bubble gum ice cream, pannacotta, orange blossom and strawberry marshmallow). The quirky ambience is definitely something to experience - and don't forget to check out the toilets for more surprises!"

  • "Did I go to Alice in the wonderland? That's what you feel about Sketch Gallery, not only the food and service were excellent, you really appreciated the deco and the art work, it is another good piece of art, well done! Don't miss to explore the washroom......"

  • "Food was a big let down, I was expecting tasty French fine dining and this was failed to deliver. The atmosphere was great, decoration is superb and the staff was helpful (apart from the miserable girl in the cloackroom). For starter we ordered the snail - sauce was too strong and you couldn't really taste the snail, and the tortelinni was nothing special. For main my partner ordered the beef tartar which was bland, and the lamb I ordered was too rare (they never asked how I wanted it). The highlight of the night was the SketchChocolate dessert, but for the price we paid, £195, we expected a lot more regarding food. If you are there for the atmosphere, you are at the right place, but make sure you have a snack before you get there!"

  • "A lovely setting and good food, a little overpriced but the atmosphere is great."

  • "Decor is an experience just by itself. The service is freindly. The mix of savor could be scarring but it will be suprisingly excellent . Don't leave without going to the toilet."

  • "We took our parents to Sketch Gallery as part of their visit to London and it well and truly lived up to expectations. Great ambience - quirky, artistic class in its interiors & a wonderful story to its design. The fear was that perhaps the food would not live up to its surrounds - this proved an unnecessary fear. The food was well presented, carefully crafted pleasure for our taste buds. Nothing too fussy or overbearing. Just lovely. If you love your chocolate desserts do try the Sketch Chocolate on the dessert menu - mmmmmm. Staff were attentive and easy to deal with."

  • "Had a great dinner here with 3 girl friends. We had cocktails, main course and then dessert and all were very tasty. The room and venue are very cool. Every chair, table, glass, fork and knife is different, which is quirky and made for a few laughs round the table. I had the Venison for main which was delicious (although it was the most expensive thing on the menu!). Desserts were all great as were the cocktails. Would recommend for a girly dinner."

  • "Had an anniversary meal here with the wife and always wanted to come to Sketch Gallery. Seats were all different (mine was like a fancy plastic patio chair) and all the glasses to drink out of were different and quirky. Food portions were small (especially the burger which looked like a mini taster version) but with the huge portion of string fries, I was full up. Atmosphere is mixed as we came on a Sunday and it was full of tourists, family gatherings but next to us was a loud group of Essex lads mouthing and showing off in front of some scantily clad Umpa Lumpas. Toilets were unique (which I have heard about) with individual cocoon shells and some weird sci-fi audio - from a distance looks like the nest our of Aliens the movie."

  • "Excellent venue. Seems like somewhere that old be pretentious but is exactly the opposite. Very friendly staff, excellent food and drink. Brought a group of friends visiting abroad, and they were all impressed. Big thumbs up!"

  • "We went here on a Monday for a work dinner, it was quirky enough to provide a complete respite from the business talk. Menu was great, a really good mix of interesting ideas and tasty sounding dishes. Would recommend."

  • "Cramped dining area, expensive small portions with most diners interested in just been 'seen' rather than munching on good food. On the plus side the toilets are good! Wait a few months longer and get a reservation at The Ivy instead where it will wipe the floor in terms of all round dining experience."

  • "Sketch gallery is one of the most fun places to eat in London. Amazing ambience and great food. Not cheap but worth it for special occasions."
    dined on 21/02/2013
  • "I don't care to pay 50 GBP per person if the food is great, but we ate a couple a hamburgers and not even the meet was good quality!. I won't come back, despite the place itself is amazing"
    dined on 15/02/2013
  • "Food was good, but overpriced. The staff were good and attentive. The decor and ambiance are main selling points but wasn't overly impressed by either."

  • "The staff were brilliant, and really went out of their way to make us feel at home, my friend and I loved the food - so imaginative! The pumpkin soup with sweetcorn ice cream, marshmallow pieces and popcorn was proper theatre and tasted so good together, while the dover sole literally seemed to taste like cake, absolutely brilliant! Sketch is a place that could be pricey or cheap, depending on how clever you are with your order. The atmosphere is brilliant too. Definitely going back for more!"
