Diner Reviews
  • "The restaurant was excellent, the waiters top class, help with suggestions and recommendations. This was a birthday celebration for 2 and it was a great night. The outside terrace bar unfortunately didn't match the excellent service in the restaurant , with slow bar tenders and what seamed to be bad management of staff just hanging around but not serving. Shame"

  • "Was a little on the pricey side but definately a top spot for a special occasion dinner. A couple of dishes were OK but the rest were absolutely delicious. Service was flawless."

  • "The staff service was outstanding from the front door, reception to the waiters. The robusta steak was really nice"

  • "Bar is very nice - good atmosphere and decor. View from restaurant is nice if they seat you in the right place"

  • "My boyfriend booked almost 3 months in advance for our anniversary but when they showed us to our table it was the table closest to entrance (and there was an available table a bit closer inside) where I was knocked almost every time a waiter/waitress walked past me. For having booked in advance I would've hoped to be sat on a table by the window out of the walking paths of everyone. Nonetheless, the service was amazing and the food was spectacular (try Ezo Samba Rolls!). It is definitely pricey but what you'd expect for a restaurant in the city. Only thing i'd knocked them is that we ate from disposable chopsticks (like the ones you get from the local takeaway) which I thought took the away from the experience."

  • "My friends and I had the most incredible experience!"

  • " The location and the food were excellent as was the waiter who looked after us in the restaurant and advised over the menu. Fabulous food. Some of the staff were not so helpful. The bar area was not very satisfactory as the outside was closed because of the weather and the 2 upper floors closed for a private function that had not quite finished - leaving it crowded with no space to sit or stand comfortably. After our meal we went to the top floor for the view and were accused of using a professional camera to take pictures of the view. The staff member later apologised."

  • "It was a wonderful food, a bit expansive, unfortunately, the weather was very bad and we couldn't enjoy the view as we wished and planed."

  • "terrific service, very good food, a little bit pricey but worth it as it is set in a remarkable building"

  • "Three letters sum up this restaurant - WOW! From the moment you step foot into the elevator and travel to the 38th floor you are swept away. The food was delicious although I've had better sashimi, the choice was great and the yellowtail collar was sublime just remember to save room for dessert!!!"

  • "Great spot, service was friendly and efficient without rushing and they cater very well for celiacs with GF menu and a good understanding of what it means. Fabulous food."

  • "The bar staff and reception staff are very average, with an arrogant attitude. The bar is over crowded with people scrambling to get a table every time one comes free, which for a table which looks like it is from ikea and a 20£ cocktail is a bit much. Atmosphere is very Essex.. The sushi is generic, although restaurant staff are excellent. No dish stands out. Go to Zuma or Rokka if you want great pan Asian food. This is all about the view. Duck and waffle may be a better way to enjoy that."

  • "The food here is excellent. Really good quality, and great taste. The yellowfish tacos were especially good. The portions however are not very big: two of us had 2 starters, 2 mains, and 2 lots of Sushi and all of it was amazing, but I felt like I could eat more afterwards. Also, it's quite pricey, at £100 for the meal. You could eat equally good food elsewhere for cheaper, but then you wouldn't get the views or the unique flavours and combinations that they create at SushiSamba. And the views from the outdoor area are spectacular, make sure you take your camera."

  • "Expensive food was 2 minutes late have our table away, waited ages for food mine came and my partner had to wait still for his, not enough chicken choice on menu only one. 4 starters had some beans covered in salt and grilled same peppers. Coconut rice had bits of coconut in there. Was not impressed after being so hyped"

  • " Our 2nd visit to Sushisamba. Our 1st visit was Christmas 2012 and we again made a point of going on the terrace to view and photograph London from above; a bit warmer this time but even more sparkly! We were well looked after by friendly staff, esp. our server, Carolina, Everything delicious!:- the Miso Soup ; Samba London; Taquitos-crispy with spicy foam sauce, some amazing Sashimi Sea bass .Then Large Plate of Seabass, with crispy coating and fabulous green sauce and vegetables. Then from Robata, rare beef and coconut rice. Finally chilli chocolate dessert with wicked red chilli red sculpture Thank you Sushisamba for another super experience."

  • "My friends and me had a great time at Sushisamba. Service was very helpful, kind and attentive. Food was delicious, I personally took Samba rolls with Salmon, Cucumber and so on, and it was delicious! The view is definitely the best part! We saw an amazing sunset from the 38th level, words fail me. You have to go up once, at least!"

  • "Great views of London and brilliant outside bar . The atmosphere was buzzing and the choice of foods was diverse . Staff very attentive"

  • "The food is delicious, and the view is breath taken, so it's a perfect place for special occasions. Don't go if you have problems with panoramic elevators. But if you love then, it's a trip since the lift doors!"

  • "celebrated a year together here and knew it would be for the view. must have a drink at one of the bars first or after as the view is much better on that side of the building. service is good but there are too many of them so starts becoming a little too much - plus we requested ice quite a few times from different people as well as the bill .. just took that little bit too long. However, the front of house manager helped us tremendously on picking on what we ate on the day. food is pretty and very nice. i am a true foodie so definitely did the trick. maybe all a little too pricey though."

  • "I would thoroughly recommend Sushi Samba London (Heron Tower) for a one off dining experience. Being so high up (38th floor) is quite a cool experience, particularly with a glass lift. Food was all very good and a reasonable quantity. As you'd expect, you pay a lot for the quality and location, but as a rare treat I would definitely go again. Staff mostly very good, if anything slightly too much attention, but definitely wouldn't complain. *****"

  • "Accompanying an amazing view, the food was of high quality both taste and presentation. The service was very good, always being checked up on and cared for. Slight issue was the time it took for the bill to arrive, as we had to ask two members of staff because the first one forgot about us. Overall highly recommend this restaurant. Not for the faint of heart, an amazing elevator journey but expect a high bill price and altitude :)"

  • "Great food, the best Suhsi in town, great atmosphere and the views are breathtaking. The service is first class, a bit expensive but you get what you pay for !"

  • "After hearing all the hype about it, decided to go there for a pre-birthday celebration light dinner with my boyfriend. Nothing special about the place, mediocre food and mediocre service. Restaurant wasn't that crowded but was very noisy, I requested for a nice window seat with good view but wasn't given any seats like that, instead we were seated beside the bamboo. Being a Japanese restaurant, was expecting them to serve good umeshu but funny enough the waiter serving us that day kept insisting that they don't serve umeshu, so we ordered their cocktails. We didn't really like their cocktails, my boyfriend didn't finish his. I don't mind going back again, but won't be in the near future."

  • "From the moment you arrive the experience was very pleasant - food was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. Staff very helpful and could not be faulted. For a special occasion a good choice. The only down side - we ate in the afternoon and because of the trouble getting booked in and the cost of the meal a little disappointed that some dinners were very casual in dress code and came with shopping bags so the it did not feel as special as it could have"
    dined on 17/08/2014
  • "Found the food good but overpriced. Not all the tables have a good view, but we were lucky Good to have a separate vegan menu and what I ordered was delicious. Would go for a special occasion"

  • "WE have been in SushiSamba on a sunday lunch, because we could not find any other availability for 2 weeks! The sunday lunch was full of kids (all well behaved and some even eating sushi with Sticks) so it was kinda fun. The food was very good and the staff was very helpful. Probably the ambiance in dinners might be better. Although, the area where restaurant is (Heron Tower) a business district hence the street I presume is a bit deserted after dinners. Good view but lot of blocks due to scaffolds."

  • "SushiSamba is a top class night out, if you have a bob or two to spend. The bar has amazing views over the City and it plays host to many young, rich and beautiful - great for people watching. We had a super meal, including some superb Samba Rolls and the lamb chops were outstanding. My only negative comment is that the service, while sweet and kind, was at times over-zealous. Empty plates were whisked away pretty much while we were still munching the last bite. If we had allowed ourselves to have been served at the speed they wanted,we would have been in and out within the hour. They way we tackled this was by ordering in stages which drew things out. A good night."

  • "One of the best meals my husband and I have ever had. The views were stunning, the food spectacular, and the service couldn't have been better (and was never imposing). We hadn't expected to have dessert, but we ended-up sharing two between us because they were so inventive and appetising. We thoroughly recommend it."

  • "Everything was excellent...view, food, cocktails etc. Wonderful place to go for a celebration or if you're visiting London. Friendly and helpful waitstaff."

  • "I have eaten here many times before and am always very impressed with the initial great service, until the end of the meal where the waiters tend to be a little fake and are always trying to push you to drink more as that's where they make their money. I asked our waiter if I had to leave our table at anytime, and was told no, and then suddenly, with no notice, we were told they need the table back so we had to leave within 5 minutes of being told. Food is still great though and the bar has a great vibe."
    dined on 15/08/2014
  • "The staff are lovely but chaos reigns, the outdoor bar was open but unmanned. Booking, check-in etc. utterly disorganised. Such a shame."

  • "I believe that Nobu and Zuma in London is now having to watch out for competition in the form of Sushisamba. We had a very nice dinner based on mainly japanese dishes and except for the black cod they were all very good. The cod was good but can not be compared to the black cod served at Zuma in Dubai however price is also different. We will definitely be back."

  • "If the restaurant is not child friendly then they should advertise it on their website or when you make a reservation.tje waiters are constantly giving you bad looks which make you feel uncomfortable when you take your toddler to the bathroom, if y They cry, etc etc"

  • "Service and Food amazing, Great views of London even though weather was not that great. Cant wait to go back again."

  • "A wonderful experience. Attentive but not intrusive service. Amazing combination of flavours and what a view. A very extensive list of sake . Expensive, but it's worth it.Will go back for sure."

  • "Sparkling sake, sensational views over London accompanied by innovative dishes that blend flavours from across the globe - Sushi Samba lived up to its reputation. The service could have been a little more polished but the staff were knowledgeable and able to advise on the extensive menu. I would recommend the taquitos, assortment of seviches and black cod; they were all memorable. We weren't offered a cloakroom for jackets but it was a cold in the restaurant because the door to the outside eating area needed to be kept open so jackets were needed anyway. Space between tables could be increased so that passers-by do not frequently knock your seat however these are small gripes compared to the fantastic time we had. I would definitely return"
