A word from The Blue Marlin Seafood Restaurant
An owner operated restaurant by husband and wife team Steve and Alison Hyatt.

Scotland is Steve's adopted home for the last 25 years. Prior to that he spent many years of travelling and working around the world. Living in Tayside allows him to raid Scotland's abundant larder to satisfy seafood lovers with his eclectic selection of dishes. We are blessed with superb Scottish seafood and the menus reflect local produce, sustainability and seasonality with influences from around the world. For the non-fish lovers we have a steak and vegetarian option on the menu.
At lunch and pre-theater we offer a special menu option which enables you you to enjoy 1 course for £11.50, 2 courses £15 or all 3 for £18.50 to compliment our main 'a la carte' menu.
We are a child free restaurant and welcome those of 8 years and over but we do not have a children's menu.
Our liquor license does not permit children of age 5 years and under to be present on the premises at any time.

  • "The Blue Marlin Restaurant in Dundee is a very modern bright and friendly place on the City Quay close to the big Apex Hotel and the new modern riverside flats. The menu is innovative and exciting with usual twists as well as staple favourites . The seafood pasta was divine and you can add a skewer of grill prawns to any dish a nice touch. Well worth a visit with good parking outside. Very central to Dundee near the river. Definitely going back ..."

  • "Our dining experience was a pleasant one however the bill at the end was not. The quality of the cooking and the presentation of the food was good but we all agreed that it was over priced by around 25%. I think if the high prices could be over come then I would recommend it to others but until then I will urge caution to anyone who asks me for my opinion, have some extra money in your wallet."

  • "Staff friendly, Starters arrived fairly quickly and were delicious , my wife & I had the whole lobster thermidor was nice but not for the price, I have had better, but it was ok, my son had the Rib eye Steak, looked, tasted excellent asked for medium rare and that what he got. mother had the fillet sea bass, well presented and was excellent. the wine was reasonably priced for a restaurant. Had to go over and ask the staff to come and take the sweet order after 7 mins of trying to attact their attention, I think they need a little more customer eye contact training when wondering about. The sweets were lovely, Sticky toffee pud, Creme Bruley (not sure how to spell that) and the banana crêpe all well presented and very tasty"

  • "We were really looking forward to this fish experience in Dundee. Both myself and one of our guests had hardly eaten our Coley, which was dry and greasy at the bottom, it was part of our main course, the fish mixed grill. We had eaten the rest, which was good but not outstanding. I wanted to give general feedback about it because we were so disappointed. We had to wait 25 mins with dirty plates before anyone came to pick them up. When eventually the manageress (maybe owner) came to do this, I politely explained the issue with the whitefish she responded rather patronisingly "you mean the Coley" and walked off never to be seen again. We paid and left feeling it was not worth trying to discuss how disappointing our experience had been."

We waited for a good 20mins before anyone came to offer us a drink, I had to go and get someone to come and service us, the same thing applied when it came to clearing the dirty plates away and offering the next course but food was very good but for the prices they were charching I expect the whole package."

  • "The quality of the food was really good but it was not what I was expecting from a sea food restaurant. I would rather prefer to have real fish dishes with less siders and more options without deep fried versions. That is the real concept of a sea food restaurant, to eat food from the sea, not battered or hidden by vegetables, purees, noodles or onion rings. For that reason, I think that the price is quite expensive according to the quality of the food. Nevertheless, I think thay make it because is a restaurant different in Dundee, where you can find something else than burgers and fish and chips."

Medium, very bloody, Medium to rare, more like blue, but, didn't want to fuss because overall, the service, ambience, and our other options were lovely, if I returned without guests and the steak was the same, I would send it back to the kitchen."

  • "Me and my partner love dining here - this is our number one place to go for all special occasions such as valentines day and our anniversary. Food is of a very high standard although I would prefer to have more choice of mains on the menu. (The valentines day menu was great as this gave you a different choice from the main menu). I would recommend the mixed fish grill as there was a good variety of different things of the plate. Prices are slightly high but well worth it. Staff are very polite and atmosphere is welcoming. We will definitely be returning and look forward to our next visit."

  • "everything was pleasant enough but definitely overpriced - I am a cook and though the food was nice it was not fantastic we chose a fish rigatoni dish which was at the end of the day pasta with some fish sauce we shared a first vourse of crab cakes - not even sure if it was crab and two small cakes for £8.50 - this is not a Michelin place at the end of the day - so for price alone we shall not return"
