A word from The Butchershop Bar & Grill
The Butchershop Bar and Grill is one of Glasgow's most fashionable dining and drinking spots. With its stunning backdrop – Glasgow University and Kelvingrove Art Gallery as its majestic neighbours – The Butchershop, based in the heart of the west end of the city, offers a very modern experience based on the good old fashioned steakhouse and cocktail bar concept.
The contemporary interior of The Butchershop has a Manhattan-loft feel; all exposed brickwork and clean lines with old meeting the very new, creating the ideal setting in which to enjoy the rather fabulous signature cocktail list with favourites such as the Ratpack Manhattan and the Champagne Daisy, before settling in to the grill menu. Here the best 21-28 day- dry aged Scottish beef is served, butchered in-house by our chefs with a fabulous selection of equally good supporting acts including Loch Fyne oysters, fresh fish specials, braised lamb shanks and daily vegetarian options and much, much more...........

Diner Reviews
  • "Always delivers great food and attentive friendly service. We will certainly be back next time we are in Glasgow"

  • "We had fabulous meal at the Butchershop. We were an hour early than our original booking but they managed to find us a table. We both had the ribeye for mains and it was cooked to perfection and had so much flavour. The starters and desserts were also lovely. The staff were friendly and very attentive. We would definitely recommend The Butchershop to friends and family when they visit Glasgow."

  • "I visited this restaurant during the Commonwealth Games, amid a number of disappointments in Glasgow generally. Everything until lunch had been a tale of incompetence, poor organisation and misinformation. I am pleased to say Butchershop bucked the trend entirely and was a wholly positive experience. We visited for Sunday lunch rather than steak, but I was generally very impressed. The meat and trimmings were excellent, ambience fine, service very good and wine list more than one had a right to expect. The restaurant was opposite the Kelvingrove Park in a trendy area. The decor tended to match the area generally, and I would say the restaurant generally very good and well priced."

  • "Superb steak served by attentive friendly staff in comfortable surroundings! What more could you ask for!"

  • "Originally we were going for the pre-theatre meal;which was excellent value for money, however we opted for a la carte. The service was amazing and the food was even better!! Would recommend the oysters and the chateaubriand -delicious!!The location was lovely and helped by the buzz of the commonwealth games. Will be back and have recommended to friends and family."

  • "Butchershop is my favourite place to eat in Glasgow! The venue is lovely and the staff are really nice and welcoming. The food is exceptional! My partner always gets the T-bone steak and it is cooked to perfection. The menu maybe pricier than other places but the food is definitely worth every penny."

  • "I had booked The Butcher Shop following a recommendation from a friend. We were not disappointed, after a great day at the Commonwealth Games my family and I had a lovely meal. The kids options especially were just the right amount and they scoffed the lot - will definitely be back!"

  • "Been many times before but don't think I will return as service was very poor, took over three hours for three courses , had to go for a shave before rushing to next appointment"

  • "The Butchershop bar and Grill is a fantastic restaurant, their environment is comfortable, service is excellent and the food, especially the sunday roast is a must try, definitely good in value and will pay another visit in some day. We don't wait too long for our food, approximately 20minutes waiting time, which is reasonable for good quality food, the staff are friendly too!"
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "Went here for dinner table booked for 6pm for 6 guest three had fillet steaks which were very nice the other three had Cote de boeuf which was very fatty and they did not enjoy and at £31.95 you would expect better, I also feel that the 10% service charge is quite steep that added on just over £33.00 extra to our bill."
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "Food was fantastically cooked, cannot fault it one bit. Will definitiely be going back soon."
    dined on 14/07/2014
  • "Had a really nice family meal, good food and waiter. Dropped the ball though when charged me for soup starter which had a hair on the bread. Lacked class."
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "This is my 3rd trip to the Butchershop & I cannot rate it highly enough! The Chateaubriand is to die for!!! The staff are faultless - knowledgable & friendly."
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "I have been a couple of times now to The Butchershop and if you are looking for a good steak you won't find better! Believe me I have tried most of the others. I have been on both the meal deal nights and normal nights and the offer I have to say was fantastic - 2 beautifully cooked rump steaks and nice bottle of Italian red all for £30 ( a little young (2012) but goes really well with the steak and for this money, its a bargain! Have also had the Chateaubriand on other visits which is fantastic and the only steak restaurant in Glasgow to actually let you see the meat before they cook it. Well worth a visit - you won't be disappointed. I can't wait to go back... other steak restaurants take note."
    dined on 08/07/2014
  • "The butchershop service was outstanding, best in Glasgow. Food was absolutely delicious. Can't wait to return"
    dined on 06/07/2014
  • "The food was superb, the service excellent and the music was tremendous...the blues, soul, country and jazz music just suited the restaurant to a T.was the best start to a great day."
    dined on 06/07/2014
  • "only disappointment was the lack of accompaniments you get with your main course which means spending an extra £3 for each side. if spending £28 on a steak then would expect some sides provided with it."
    dined on 05/07/2014
  • "Arrived at butcher shop for birthday lunch with wife. We where shown to our table and offered drinks or water straight away. We both ordered from the a la carte menu which was a mistake should of ordered from lunch ore theatre menu. We both had a starter a main and dessert with a bottle of wine. Food was well presented and quality was there my steak was cooked to perfection. My only gripe would be price £96 for 2 just a tad dear.pre theatre/lunch set menu and it would have been about £50 so will be going for that in future as I will be back"
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "It was my husbands and I's first wedding anniversary and we wanted somewhere special. This was just the place as the food was amazing - we had steaks which were great!! It was also a lovely atmosphere and nice and romantic. The staff and other customers were very friendly. We had such a lovely time."
    dined on 02/07/2014
  • "We had the pre theatre menu and it was great value for money. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal."

  • "We dined at the Butchershop to celebrate my wifes birthday. Food was excellence, and good service. Overall would be happy to go back again!"
    dined on 01/07/2014
  • "I attend the butchershop after my graduation and was very impressed and delighted with the meal (although they did run out of chicken which was my first option, the steak was a great second choice). I would highly recommend it for a special occasion as it offers exactly that!"
    dined on 30/06/2014
  • "This place was recommended to us by a colleague, and we were instructed to do a recce ahead of a visit later in the year by the rest of the team. The service was excellent and attentive, and the staff were very knowledgable about the menu, which was really useful as we had plenty of questions about the variety of cuts available. When the food came, my steak was cooked to perfection and fantastically tasty. If I had any gripes about this restaurant it would be that it's a shame that it has to follow the trend of charging quite high prices for vegetable sides when really a small potion should be included especially in today's 5 a day world. Finally the desert menu seemed an afterthought. All in all though, a great restaurant."
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "If you are out for a traditional very well prepared Sunday lunch with all the trimmings and first rate quality meat, then this is the right place. The pork chop was very juicy and tasty. The careful choice of regionally produced meat is a treat and the classic glazed vegetables go very well with it. The dessert Banoffee Sundae on the other hand was a bit boring. It lacks a more interesting combination of tastes but is very filling."
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "Had a great night for dinner and had the chateaubriand. Had amazing service and an amazing meal."
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "On 25/06/14 I went for dinner to this restaurant. I had read great reviews beforehand and the steak did not disappoint. The service and wine were great but my only complaint would be my mashed potatoes were a little too salty. Prices were the same as most other high quality restaurants in Glasgow and not as pricey as some other reviewers had stated."
    dined on 25/06/2014
  • "Had the most excellent experience and food, made my graduation."
    dined on 25/06/2014

  • "brilliant meal. brilliant service and the most amazing steaks and sauces...."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "Fantastic steak! Didn't really enjoy the experience though as we were sat at a table in the centre of the room and felt too close to other diners. The noise level was quite overwhelming."
    dined on 20/06/2014
  • "The service was very disappointing. When ordering drinks we had to wait for a long time before they were brought to the table upon reminding the staff members several times. It continued throught the night which was extremely disappointing and brought the mood of the night down."
    dined on 20/06/2014
  • "If you enjoy good food you must visit. One of the best steaks I have ever had. Produce is clearly fresh. Try their cheeseboard too."
