  • "Been here many times and have never really had any complaints. Has changed a bit since it was The Barn but attracts a wider clientele now and the food and wine are still really good."

  • "Pleasant, interesting interior decor - still 'new' and smart. Good view over fields from plentiful garden seats and tables. Gammon, sirloin and chicken dishes OK for taste, presentation and price. Portions generous. Reserved table ready only a few minutes late - comfy seats elsewhere to wait with a drink. Service slow "because of large number of pre-orders". Staff friendly but a bit vague and inefficient on this particular sunny Thursday evening."

  • "Great Sunday lunch, the beef was excellent. Portion size right. Sweet was lovely. Only criticism was the drinks especially the wine, although very good, was expensive."

  • "Attended the Chester fields for an anniversary meal. The moment we walked in we were greeted so warmly by the bar tender Gaz who was the ultimate professional. Incredibly knowledgeable and made our evening extra special. I had an amazing Lemon Meringue Martini and went back for more after the meal. The serving staff in the restaurant have the perfect balance of being attentive but not over bearing. Again our server, a young lad who served the upstairs area on Saturday night was informative about the dishes, very friendly and helpful. After the meal we retired to the outdoor area to finish our cocktails, a brambletini this time, & treated ourselves to another prosecco. All the staff we encountered were brilliant, we had the BEST experience."

  • "Charming pub with good restaurant facilities and large area for outdoor dining. It gets incredibly hot and sticky in the dining room as there is no air conditioning or fans. Excellent starters and main courses but the desserts were disappointing."

  • "We visited last year and the food was amazing, I had the longhorn fillet steak and my girlfriend had beef and it was possibly the best meal we've ever had. We returned this year and the menu had changed slightly, I had the fillet steak which was very dry and slightly overlooked and lacked flavour and my girlfriend had the beef shin which was poor. We sat upstairs and it was so hot, it was uncomfortable and made it unpleasant and hard to enjoy. The service was very good however and the place itself is fantastic. Not a £25 steak by any means though"

  • "The service was very good, very attentative throughout. The restaurant is in a good location with extensive outside facility as well as a very nice and modern interior. The food was average for this level of restaurant but the starters,(sauteed King Prawns were extremely salty, spoiling what would have been a good starter). This fact was passed on to the staff. We were amazed then that when my Wife's main course arrived,(also king prawns) it was equally salty and had to be sent back! The replacement of the dish was prompt and the waiting staff were most apolgetic and concerned but the concern didn't run to adjustment of our bill!. The restaurant had good features and we may go back ??"

  • "The afternoon was warm, and even though we ate indoors, flies aggravated us during the meal.We didn't stay for a desert! The Sunday lunch was good, but the service was slow for drinks and the food and we had booked. The staff were pleasant."
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "The food itself was very nice , the bar was very noisy, we were there celibrating an anniversary , we were sat in a very noisy position right opposite the toilets , my view was a large air fresh er sitting on top of a picture.my husband phoned to say that we might be late as the taxi was running behind and the reply was we need that table for 8:30 , put a damper on the meal before we went."
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "Positives:-Fairly quickly escorted to our table by pleasant and helpful waitress. Service throughout was good. Negatives:- Crispy Pork Belly - menu stated "crispy crackling" in the description - deciding factor in ordering it. Hopeless description - should be "soggy, pale thin skin". We complained - a more senior member of staff offered to take it away and crisp it up. No - I had started my dish and my wife and I were dining together. The dish was, otherwise quite tasty. Pan Fried Stone Bass with shrimp butter, etc. served in a soup bowl so the melted shrimp butter was concentrated in the centre of the bowl and saturated the spinach which had been placed at the base of the stack and so making greasy. The fish, however, was excellent."

  • "Lovely food, attentive staff and relaxed atmosphere. A real treat. "

  • "Good food, nothing on the menu that stood out, but plenty of tempting options. Very busy, table wasn't ready when we arrived (on time) but food didn't take long to arrive. Can't decide if it's a pub or a quality restaurant, looks the latter from the outside but then we felt overdressed (just dressing smart) going in. Once past the pub part, found the restaurant and didn't feel so different to everyone else. Think it's a nice gastropub with casual atmosphere. would go back."

  • "Yes, we enjoyed our meal very much. The sweet dishes were particularly good.. The ambiance was impressive as was the service..We have already recommended Chester Fields to our friends."

  • "First time diners. Last minute thing - secured a table - excellent service, food very good. Certain to return and would recommend to anyone. Indeed already have with similar feedback"

  • "Yet another wonderful dinner at The Chester Fields. Great food & service Thank You"
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "Had another good Sunday lunch. Everything up to the usual high standard. Got free desserts for ordering a starter and a main course, plus a free bottle of house red for booking through toptable and dining over Christmas & New Year! What's not to like??? Lots of young children in this time, so quite noisy, but after a couple of glasses of wine, we were feeling no pain! Definitely going again and again. 10/10 all round."
    dined on 02/02/2014
  • "We've eaten at the Chester Fields on a number of occasions. The atmosphere is always pleasant, and the service friendly, although the food we ordered on this occasion - mostly burgers - was marred by having the burger buns burnt, which is entirely avoidable. However, our returns to the kitchen were dealt with very politely and efficiently. The kids always enjoy the retro Space Invaders games!"
    dined on 26/01/2014
  • "Three of us went for Sunday lunch and had a really great meal. The food was cooked to perfection, presented beautifully and brought to the table without delay. The Staff were excellent, well mannered, helpful and attentive. We don't normally have desserts, but the offer of a free pud for having a starter and a main course was far too good to refuse. The blood orange bread & butter pudding was gorgeous!! The Bar was good, with a good choice of drinks and the bar staff were tremendous! We have been several times before and have always found the standards to be very high and would recommend them without hesitation."
    dined on 12/01/2014
  • "We visit TCF quite often with our two children and also with friends who have children. TCF are always very accommodating and the children's menu split by toddler and junior is a great idea! They even accommodated our NCT Christmas party with 8 toddlers with minimum fuss!"
    dined on 05/01/2014
  • "Poor service given a table by the toilet door even though better spots were available, poor food (cold had to be sent back) and bad value for money this was the third and my last visit to Chesterfields."
    dined on 22/12/2013
  • "We went to chester fields for my husbands birthday with our 3 children. The service we received was fantastic from every member of staff!! Food was good although the children's menu was a bit limited, and could have been a bit more inventive. The selection on the adult menu was good. There is a games room upstairs where the children played on an arcade machine whilst we finished our drinks after the meal. Overall we had a lovely dining experience and would recommend this restaurant."
    dined on 20/12/2013
  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our lovely lunch at Chester Fields - great food and a cheeky prosecco!"
    dined on 07/12/2013
  • "A pescetarian, gluten free menu was prepared for us which was very helpful. Starters were somewhat limited but mains were outstanding."
    dined on 10/11/2013
  • "We were told that this was a try out for food themed nights and if it was successful there would be more such events, and as far as we were concerned it was a great success! The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was very tasty (and hot - wow, those chillies!), there was plenty of it and it was good value - and above all it was good fun. We will certainly look out for themed nights in the future."
    dined on 07/11/2013
  • "Enjoyed a meal at The Chester Fields on a Wednesday night. Starters were good and so were the steaks. The only negatives were that a glass of coke was mainly ice and that two children were allowed to go from table to table asking for money for themselves whilst dressed in Halloween costumes. Bearing in mind Halloween was over a week away this seemed rather intrusive and unnecessary."
    dined on 23/10/2013
  • "Met for a simple supper with a friend and enjoyed a new menu of some unusual dishes both vegetarian and not. Chose to have a vegetarian welsh rarebit starter (which could have been a bit more cheesy) and then a wonderful bread and butter pudding topped with apricots and orange marmalade ice-cream. My friend had a starter and pudding too but we felt comfortable ordering a modest meal. The waitress was second to none, inviting us to make helpful criticisms of the new menu and on leaving this relaxing venue, we realised that we had spent 3 hours at our table! All credit to the staff and relaxed atmosphere."
    dined on 17/10/2013
  • "Very relaxed atmosphere, loved the bread and balsamic starter, roast was excellent, Would certainly return. Staff friendly."
    dined on 13/10/2013
  • "A lovely restaurant with very good food and very good service."
    dined on 06/10/2013
  • "This was the first time that we have visited the new restaurant Chester Fields although we di visit The Barn as it was. The whole experience was fantastic. A little on the expensive side, but we did push the boat out as it was our 44th wedding anniversary. The ambience was excellent and the staff were very attentive but not "in your face". The food was unbelievable and I did send my complements to the chef/s. I had the fillet steak with red wine sauce -wow! I would certainly recommend the Chester Fields to my friends and family and would book again for such a special occasion."

  • "Sunday evening was ok We both had lamb which we had to wait for but this was fine as this was explained before we ordered. I was disappointed that there was only one small portion of veg and mashed potato portion was also small"

  • "We dined as a couple on a recent Sunday evening to mark an anniversary and really enjoyed the experience, good food and friendly, efficient service in comfortable surroundings. Well worth a visit if you have not been before."

  • "fabulous time had by everyone, food was amazing, had the medley of pork and wife had chicken bourginon, really tasty and well presented, didnt look much in terms of quantity but did fill me up. desserts were just as good. service was great, waiting times between food - just right. a nice touch at the end, they wrote happy birthday on the dessert with a candle, without being asked to."
    dined on 10/09/2013
  • "I booked a table last minute only a couple of hours before I wanted to go and they had a table available. the service was good, although there was a long gap between ordering our food and it being ready, but it was worth the wait."
    dined on 09/09/2013
  • "The Chester fields is a very pleasant eatery. The vegetarian option was different to the usual run of the mill food offered. The service was good and the surroundings very attractive. A good place to do lunch."
