Diner Reviews
  • "another excellent lunch had by all..one of my dining companions even thought , ( whisper it)! ... '' it may be better than The Wolseley?'' .. we'll be back.."
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "I'm working my way through the Delaunay's sittings and have yet to be disappointed. Saturday Brunch this time and it was delicious. I had pancakes, poached eggs, grapefruit, coffee and champagne. Yum! Others had the Viennese breakfast which smelt gorgeous and chicken Kiev; both of which looks, smelt and I was assured tasted divine. Service was great. The ambiance is fab. Go! "
    dined on 19/04/2014
  • "The Delaunay is great for food, with the typically Austrian menu presenting lovely food and a nice variety. Saying that it is definitely not the place for vegetarians or vegans, it is very difficult to find food on the menu for them. The food is hearty, and nicely done, with one of their best dishes being the Schnitzel. "
    dined on 19/04/2014
  • "Great food, slightly patchy service. Had to ask for order to be taken, had to chase up order. But they were very accommodating"

  • "Love the dealaunay whatever time of day its like being transported back to the 20s with style!!!"
    dined on 17/04/2014
  • "An outstanding and enjoyable restaurant-a must visit whenever we are in London! Great service, polished, professional biut not intrusive service. A real gem! "

  • "The door is manned and opened for you and then you are greeted at the entrance and shown to your table. The mood is sophisicated and lightlng low. We were presneted a basket of two unusually shaped breads . My husband ordered the Veal Schnitzel which didn't have any accompaniments and needed to order a portion of frites ( which was a generous pot), I had the Calves liver with bacon which came with mashed potato (although not mentioned on the menu) a little sauce and sage. Both were delicious and had we had more time would have sampled the desserts. The portions aren't huge at first glance and you could say a little overpriced for what we had but there are a few cheaper options available which I am sure are just as tasty."

  • "Service was brilliant and good choice of salads & quick meals before the theatre. Lovely place too."
    dined on 14/04/2014
  • "nice venue for business breakfast/lunches. breakfast slightly on the expensive side but good choice, nice atmosphere and works well for groups."

  • "We had a fantastic lunch at The Delaunay on Saturday. The food was great, the staff are very attentive and the atmosphere is lovely. Really nice restaurant, highly recommend it."

  • "For me this restaurant has the wow factor, the service is exceptional, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Oh and the food was superb!"
    dined on 10/04/2014
  • "in terns of food it was just so-so really. And we were urged to order three times within 15 mins of sitting down - feeling like we had to 'just eat and go'. Don't know why it is popular."
    dined on 06/04/2014
  • "...prawn cocktail going. There is nothing on the menu I don't like so it is always difficult to choose. The place has a real buzz of a lunchtime."
    dined on 07/04/2014
  • "good liked the refills of still water and attentive service warm bread and wiener schnitzel. Really liked lemon meringue tart. It's a pleasant experience and would go back"
    dined on 06/04/2014
  • "I went there for a mid week lunch with a friend. What an amazing room, it felt very glamorous. Unfortunately the food was just average so we felt slightly cheated. The liver was severely undercooked to the point of being inedible. The service was great and apologetic and we did get a refund for the liver, but it did take the shine off a bit."
    dined on 11/11/2013
  • "Great setting & great quality food, service excellent"
    dined on 02/04/2014
  • "What a lovely way to spend an hour or two with a great breakfast served in lovely surroundings. And, surprisingly buzzy for a breakfast"
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "The Delauney was really lovely for breakfast - perfect food and service. I've marked them down on service because I had a few issues with the iniital booking. I wanted to take my whole team there - 12 of us - and they wouldn't take the booking because there were too many of us. I suggested we just split it into 3 tables of 4 but they said they weren't prepared to do that. So we booked the tables through separate names and toptable accounts so that we could all go. It seemed a little ridiculous to have to do that, rather than them just accommodating the request in the first place. But we still alll went and had a lovely breakfast."
    dined on 17/01/2014
  • "We had dinner at Delauney after a play. We were seated next to the serving station, so the positive is that when nobody would pay attention to us we were able to help ourselves to the menus. However, the noise was very loud as we could hear the plates clanging and silverware jingling in the back. While we were waiting for our meal, we were also graced with the changing of the dirty linens from the bin in the serving station---they store soiled linens on the dining floor rather than remove them right away. On the positive, my wife's chopped chicken salad and my own beef stroganoff were tasty. Beware if you're looking for something reliable for a date or business."
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "Nice afternoon tea but the service was not attentive enough. Very long periods would pass without a single staff member in sight. They were fully occupied with the changeover for dinner. It would be better to shut the restaurant during changeovers if good customer service cannot be maintained at the same time."
    dined on 25/03/2014
  • "Booked this restaurant to celebrate a friend's engagement. It was the first time the bridesmaids and bride were meeting up altogether and the Delauney made a real fuss of us. The bride was delighted. I can't wait to go back."
    dined on 19/02/2014
  • "Heavenly atmosphere, service and set-up. Feels like a restaurant as glam as fifty years ago but the menu is forward-thinking and the clientele are hip. Love the way you can have a hot dog here for £6.50."
    dined on 21/03/2014
  • "Great location for meeting. I ordered eggs benedict that I haven't manage to finish because of the hollandaise sauce that was more mayonnaise and the eggs were over cooked, my collegue ordered porridge with milk and it arrived made with water, caffe latte served in a cappuccino cup but at least very good. Waitress never around went need it. They have removed the eggs from my bill but they waiter told me to let the waiter know before I finished, I reply tha if the waiter has been around I would have. Overall we had a good meeting but I am not sure I will be back."
    dined on 18/03/2014
  • "The food was average but the service was poor. Waiting staff did not listen properly and we had to repeat requests and attract their attention for items that were missing or not correct."
    dined on 18/03/2014
  • "Great Service, menu had a good variety for diary and veg options. A bit noisy but great vibe."
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "The Delauncy is like those grand European cafe restaurants - great decor, perpetual buzz of people chattering, busy waiters rushing around, and lots of Mittel-Europa food like schnitzel and borsch. Close to the Drury Lane end of theatre-land, so good for pre or post theatre, or if you're in the area. Friendly and efficient service from multi-national staff. Food adequate to good, especially if you like Austria and Eastern European cuisine. More expensive than it first appears - cover charge, 12.5% service, no veg with the main course, and fairly expensive wine (£6 plus per glass) - so at least £50 per head. We enjoyed our evening and would recommend a visit if you're going to be nearby. Most times of the day you would need to book."
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "Knowing that this is the sibling of the Wolseley, I expected a solid mittel-europa, well executed comfort food with some haute cuisine touches in the execution, and smooth service. Sadly, it didn't deliver. The salads (tried two) were competent, but not particularly interesting; the grilled calve's liver was ok, but the soufflé was just plain bad. It was a bizarre cross-over between an omelette and a soufflé, with a watered-down apricot marmalade (only upside: in a frying pan for theatrical effect). Waiters were hard to find, ours was disinterested / not knowledgeable about her work (all she could say about the soufflé was that "it had eggs"!) Maitre compensated comping our deserts, but overall a let-down. Not a place to return in a hurry."
    dined on 13/03/2014
  • "we went THE DELAUNAY for a pre-theatre dinner and had the most amazing 1.5h. the service was impeccable, the food was divine and the wine very tasty. we will be turning that spot into our regular spot. highly recommended."
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "As always - consistently good food and service in a great environment"
    dined on 13/03/2014
  • "Felt as if we were on a ship in the 1920s. The menu was interesting lots of Austrian/German specialities. Service was excellent, we arrived late and still managed to make our play due to the efficient and fast service. The food was great and we even tried a wine with our surname! would definitely come again, another Corbin and King star."
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "Menu had a bit too much pork for my liking, but that's just personal taste. Nice atmosphere, feels like going back to 30's, but in a good way!"
    dined on 11/03/2014
  • "Following recommendation, we dined for Saturday Brunch, one of the best places in London at the moment, busy, with a great buzz, great food and very attentive and pleasant service. Can't wait to try the Sunday lunch in a couple of weeks."
    dined on 08/03/2014
  • "We were here to celebrate a 30th birthday, service was excellent from the porter at the door, to the pleasant friendly waitress and so attentive the whole evening, our glasses were never empty, be it with water, wine or tea and coffee,we were given time to sit and have a chat prior to a waitress coming over which was a lovely touch even though I knew we had a time limit on the table which no other guests knew about, the fantastic food then arrived oysters, soup and five different main meals ranging from beef to sea bass and a German meat dish to the finishing touch of a decorated plate and birthday cake delivered to the birthday girl which had not been asked for,all in all making it a night to remember all round."
    dined on 07/03/2014
  • "First visit, staff were very pleasant. Good food. I would return."

  • "location is good and environment is prefectly for romantic dinner"

  • "Loved the food - very tasty and the service was perfect. Thanks for the great brunch!"
    dined on 02/03/2014
  • "This restaurant has a great location and the staff were excellent. We enjoyed our meal but it was quite noisy as it was very busy! Not a good choice for a quiet tete a tete! Very stylish surroundings. No extras - £2 cover charge for two bread sticks - which is a shame. It came to over £50 per head for 3 courses, a G&T and a glass of wine,"
