Diner Reviews
  • "Very good food loved the area that the restaurant is based right by the river. "

  • "At last minute just before Easter remembered the Fleet - hadn't visited since its restoration after the fire. Had excellent meal with husband and adult son and will certainly eat here every time that we have visitors to stay. I would feel okay bringing my young grandchildren here as well as people with more sophisticated tastes. The menu was varied - my Cornish Crab was comparable with a Rick Stein's offering. The only thing that was annoying was obtrusive music played through loudspeaker directly overhead. Mentioned this to staff and was immediately given another table and the music was turned down. Couldn't do better"

  • "Excellent service, good food and wine, children's portions available. A wonderful setting, tasteful decor inside, superb riverside views outside."
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "An extra table had been added in an inaccessible position in a main gangway. Protest brought an offer of seating added partially blocking afire exit. An unfortunate start that was quickly dispelled by friendly service and good food. Our guests were satisfied, but slightly disappointed being unable to enjoy the riverside view."

  • "Refurbished to a high standard - very comfortable, excellent ambience. The menu was a bit limited for us. We ordered Belly Pork - only 1 vegetable - green beans - and they had just been shown the hot water. We don't like overcooked veg but these were completely raw and inedible. Other than that though, the pork was well cooked, everything full of flavour and we did enjoy. We complained about the beans, the waitress apologised profusely and said she'd report to the chef. However, nothing was said when we went to pay and no allowance had been made on the bill. We were not even offered a complimentary coffee. Probably will go there again but won't rush back. Shame!"

  • "We we're lead to believe that we could use voucher £12 for two meals but it was dated Saturday 5th but was not accepted we were able to get £5 off the bill but thought the voucher was misleading. The meal was good and hot and the service was good, I would go again."

  • "We had been to the 'Fleet' previously and relished the idea of a further visit. We chose the 2 x 'mains' for £12.00 and were sadly very disappointed with the 'size' of our meals. Whilst I did realise that we were having the daily 'special offer' I did not expect our meals to be roughly the size of a starter. Taste was fine, but fish and chips (with 8 chips) albeit beautifully presented, does not amount to a 'main' meal. We had visited the 'Air Balloon' at Birdlip the previous lunchtime and took the daily '2 for £10.00' - might I suggest the 'Fleet' manager visits that particular establishment to see what 'main' meals should be like. Come on 'Fleet' you can do better than this!"

  • "We were greeted with a smile and treated well throughout our visit by the staff who were all very friendly. The choice from the menu is always difficult as we know everything is going to taste great, and the wine is excellent as well. Thoroughly recommended."
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "Considering there were only a few people dining, the service was extremely slow. We then had to chase up as two meals did not contain what was stated on the menu. We did not get an apology for this. The food is very good though and I would recommend visiting because of this. Just be aware the sweet potato chips seem to be missing from the menu which is a shame."
    dined on 24/03/2014
  • "It's perfect here for a date night. My partner and I love it. Lovely atmosphere and great food. The perfect location too."
    dined on 15/03/2014
  • "Knowing how the owner prides himself on service in his pubs this left us very disappointed on what was a special night out. Sorry but this was not up to the standard we have come to expect. Hope this is not a trend that would send us elsewhere and anyone should take this into consideration when booking"
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "The atmosphere/ambience was relaxed and comfortable. Staff and service was pretty much faultless, everyone was friendly and welcoming. However food was just okay; the quality and quantity of the food, I felt was not worth the money paid."
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "We visited (not for the first time) for Sunday lunch and really enjoyed it - including the kids!"
    dined on 26/01/2014
  • "Had dinner here on the 17th Jan 2014 . Very quiet with about 12 diners all night and 4 of them were us ! So the atmosphere was non existent , Both my wife and myself had the ham, egg and chips which was just OK not the best ham, egg and chips I have had and not the worst but definetly the most expensive . Our friends had the fish and chips and the other had the liver . The liver was very good but again expensive for what it was . The fish and chips again expensive and not worth the money . Waitress was brilliant her banter with us made the evening for us but sadly the food was a big let down ."
    dined on 17/01/2014
  • "Had a lovely meal here. Just two of us. Was quiet in the pub, so we got good service, food was lovely, although after specifically describing how I wanted my steak (somewhere between blue and rare), it STILL came out as medium. However, the meat was good, as was the veg and chips. Asked if we wanted coffees, we asked for Irish, and our waitress had to check "if they had some". As it happened, the barman made a tasty and beautifully presented coffee. To sum up, this is a pub/restaurant with ideas above its station. The food is good, but not what you are led to expect. And the staff are lovely if a little under trained. Go here to get a good feed In a relaxing atmosphere, don't go if you expect a restaurant experience."
    dined on 27/12/2013
  • "I had planned a birthday celebration meal for xmas eve which is my wife's birthday.Unfortunately I had no reply from the restaurant to my email sent 3-4 weeks earlier about whether any special arrangements were available to celebrate this during the meal etc.We had a very enjoyable meal in a relaxed atmosphere with excellent food. The restaurant manager / owner ? realised that no one had replied to my email towards the end of our meal and offered to produce a dessert / firework at our table .This was appreciated but was not quite what I had in mind.Otherwise a very positive experience and we would go back again."
    dined on 24/12/2013
  • "We had a pre-Christmas lunch that was excellent. The Menu was varied and the standard of service matched the excellent food."
    dined on 13/12/2013
  • "It was a lovely well presentated eating area and lounge. Staff were friendly and efficient, although a little slow taking our empty plates away. Such a minor! overall WOW a great place! Many thanks to all, we WILL be returning soon!"
    dined on 12/12/2013
  • "Excellent for a Sunday lunch with Friends, great food and service. A good all-year round venue, have been in the summer too and such a lovely location by the river."
    dined on 08/12/2013
  • "Having enjoyed many lunches and dinners at The Fleet we were very disappointed with the quality of their Sunday Roast. The roast potatoes were very small and looked and tasted like frozen ones, the vegetables were so hard you could hardly get your fork in to them, and I'm not convinced they weren't frozen as well, the gravy very watery - overall the meal was tasteless. Between us we had the roast chicken and the roast pork, both were disappointing. It's a shame, because their normal menu meals are usually very tasty and well cooked."
    dined on 01/12/2013
  • "Went with friends after visiting a local National Trust property. Warm welcome with blazing fire! We were there at 4.30pm and sat by the fire chatting and were able to have our starter there -very accommodating staff! We were not rushed at all Lovely food - three dishes were chosen off the specials board. The pub was very nicely decorated for Christmas."
    dined on 30/11/2013
  • "Two of us had fish and chips which was very tasty but the batter was very over cooked. One of us had ham, egg and chips which was very good. I had the bacon and cheeseburger which I thought was a bit dry and not generous on the cheese and bacon. The onion rings were totally overcooked, greasy and the worst I have had in a long time. All the plates were cold. The beer was very good. It would be a good idea to have a disabled toilet which does not require a radar key. I have to use a disabled toilet at the moment due to a hip injury but am not registered disabled and do not have a key so I had to use the ordinary toilet with great difficulty."
    dined on 26/11/2013
  • "Having visited this nice pub in August several times and enjoyed a variety of meals we returned again in October and were disappointed in the quality of the food and beer. We are of the opinion the standard of food and the menu choices have deteriorated since it appears to have changed hands. This is borne out by the fact that the restaurant previously was very busy but on our last visit on 17/11/2013 we were the only diners at 7.45pm."
    dined on 17/11/2013
  • "Sounds a funny title but sadly true. There can be nothing more annoying that sitting next to a table where the parent allow there children to run riote around the tadles with no consideration for other people a notice or word from management would hopefully solve this annoying behavior But overall a lovly place to eat good service and nice surrounding will be calling again"
    dined on 10/11/2013
  • "The Fleet is in a lovely setting set on the banks of the River Severn in the village of Twyning. This old pub has been confidently refurbished to a high standard, with a stylish colourful interior. The atmosphere is welcoming and cosy and it manages to strike the balance between intimate and yet still lively. The food is very well presented, the menu imaginative and the service attentive. I have no hesitation in recommending."
    dined on 30/10/2013
  • "Having eaten at the Fleet on several occasions we were rather disappointed in the menu. The food we had was ok, [although my husband didn't think too much of his steak pie] but the menu was by no means as good as on our previous visits, there certainly wasn't the choice and variety. We were told that this pub has recently been taken over by Wadworths, and assured that the food was still as good, but we beg to differ!"
    dined on 18/10/2013
  • "We had a nice evening Food and service very good. Did not realise that Wadsworth were new owners. Sorry to see so few diners The one band music was to loud and not very tuneful sorry to say. Trust my comments helpful Bob Sheldon"
    dined on 04/10/2013
  • "Lovely meal and although the restaurant was really busy the service was excellent"
    dined on 14/09/2013
  • "Went for Sunday Lunch and had a lovely meal with great service and a very entertaining waitress who took time to speak to us including my four year old daughter who really took a shine to her. lots of laughs and a good atmosphere made it a very lovely experience - will definately visit again!"

  • "delighted with the fleet - not been there for many years. What a transformation. the decor was most unusual but stunning and the food was amazing, We will return!"

  • "Really good meal cooked well, excellent choice beautiful views"
    dined on 16/08/2013
  • "Had my birthday here, the main main was excellent with a variety of choices. We had a mixed aged group, some ate from the main menu, what we did like was the ability to have the set menu choice at either two or three starters for the bigger and smaller eaters. The food was divine. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone for eat in or eat out, the service was excellent, in fact we tipped and we rarely do that! Cant wait to go back!"
    dined on 05/08/2013
  • "The online booking was handled well. We were seated promptly upon arrival. The food was a little too plentiful for our group but beautifully presented, hot and tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful."
    dined on 01/08/2013
  • "Excellent food, good value, brilliant service - fantastic waitress, lovely ambience"
    dined on 26/07/2013
  • "Excellent menus and meals, not too crowded as loads of space to spread out! Great!!"
    dined on 04/07/2013
  • "I don't know how the place is still trading. Massive venue, overstaffed with obnoxious characters and only a third occupancy on a Friday evening. Trying to be something it can't possibly be unless some changes to kitchen and front of house staff are made. Distinct lack of skills shown on the plate, somebody needs to learn how to cook pork fillet without dehydrating it to a cardboard texture and the belly peices had no moisture/ juiciness at all. Buying cheap (probably frozen) ingredients and charging like a Rhino for them. Such a shame there is no passion evident anywhere amongst the staff as the pub has a lovely setting"
    dined on 28/06/2013
  • "Really enjoyed our first visit to the Fleet. Great location by the riverside with a nice calm leafy feel on arrival. Good service, quality food with excellent presentation (chocolate plate desert was superb). Great value and will definitely be returning again as it is easy to get to from Malvern, Worcester and Cheltenham or further afield via the M5/M50"

  • "Roast Beef dinner excellent didn't need a pudding.walk along the Avon back to Tewkesbury to walk it off .Booked on line successfully although had to wait 15 minutes for Table although in defence it was very busy. Waited outside in the sun but informed when ready and shown to Table . Service was excellent and speedy . Food good value but beer at £3.50 was a bit pricey . The decor was in good condition as we're the toilets !"
