A word from The Hinds Head - Bray
We’re located in a listed 15th-century building nestled in the heart of the pretty village of Bray, near Maidenhead in Berkshire. Our ambience is that of a local village pub, offering you a warm welcome, exceptional, friendly service and outstanding food.
Our restaurant menus offer a combination of traditional seasonal cuisine and historic British dishes, all designed by our owner, chef Heston Blumenthal. Heston's quest for excellence in taste and flavour is combined with Head Chef Kevin Love's respect and love of fresh seasonal produce, to create a menu of British favourites in harmony with the building's Tudor origins.
Our bar area is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a light snack, accompanied by locally sourced guest ales and a carefully selected wine list.

We had very high expectations but sadly left wondering what all the fuss was about. Service was very poor, had to ask to place our order having sat ready for over ten minutes. Every time out party needed service we had to find it, just not sharp enough for price and general expectations. Starters were fantastic, mains very average and deserts nothing to write home about. Having booked this table for my team at the end of a days team building I'm afraid our initial excitement and anticipation as a group of foodies soon diminished as we left feeling we have had far better gastro pub experiences with better service and more affordable in the past. What a Disappointed Hinds Head!

Had lunch with my family. My dishes were all excellent, which I could not tell about my family, as, unfortunately they received oversalted food..:( one of the dishes was even sent back. Also small portions of side dishes (especially fries). A small discount was given by restaurant for the replacement dish, but a new dish arrived faster. Was a bit disappointed with the experience due to this.

There was a group of 4 of us with all varying tastes. The menu was limited and for those who don't eat a lot of red meat or fish we were limited to one choice for each course. The quality of the food was good and service excellent. My choices but included peas so you can imagine I had enough for one week. For me it wasn't to special as having soup and chicken was what I have at home daily.

Not perfect - the tasters arrived with the first course and a side dish didn't arrive at all - but friendly, comfortable with helpful and knowlegeable staff and, of course, yummy food. Looking forward to our next visit to Blumenville.

This was our first visit to the Hinds Head - and indeed to the foodie heaven which is Bray. It capped a very special day following an investiture at Windsor Castle. The food was excellent - nothing fussy, just good quality, well cooked food served in a completely relaxed atmosphere. Between us we particularly liked the pea and ham soup (wonderful flavours), raw venison, oxtail and kidney pudding, perfect steaks, quaking pudding (with its own explanatory card) and crumble. Good value for food of this quality.

We had the set lunch simply because of cost. Only had a choice of 2 starters and 2 mains which was Ok for 3 of our party of 4. Food was not as exciting as on previous visits. My bream with mussel broth was dominated by tarragon, a herb I only like in small quantities and the bed of greens were somewhat tough but the fish itself was cooked perfectly. The terrine was so soft and rather warm that it lacked the texture and substance of a terrine. Desserts were yummy. Others thought their shepherds pies very tasty but one commented theirs was a bit dry.

My wife & I had a wonderful late lunch at the Hinds Head on our last visit to England. The service by all the staff was great. They helped matching wines for all our dishes that make the experience all the more satisfying. The menu was small but the choices we made were hard because all sounded & looked delicious. When we ate we were not disappointed.

We had Sunday lunch here with a friend who was visiting from Shanghai. The place was very nice and clean and well decorated. The food was beautiful. I had the scotch egg and it was very nice. Simple but tasty. My hubby had the pea and ham soup and I tasted it, it was full of flavour. My friend had the beetroot with goat's cheese salad and it was sublime. For mains we had the pork roast and steak. The meat was perfectly cooked and full packed with flavour.Melt in your mouth. However, we did have to wait quite a bit between our starter and main course. We also noticed that the table that was seated later than us were served first. This can be an area for improvement. But overall, it was a good experience.

The evening didn't start well as we were given a badly positioned table for two squashed in close proximity to a table reserved for a large party. We would have needed to move every time they needed to move, and it would have been very noisy. After having been told there was no alternative table we were eventually able to move having asked a second time. After that the evening was excellent. Food and service excellent.

Food was great as always but for some reason the service felt like we were in a game show for new recruits? Lots of weirdness like bringing the drinks menu but not asking us what we wanted till half way through the starters? Then leaving the menus on the table (in the way) until eating desert. We also had a total of 6 different people serving us ... Not the usual slick operation on this occasion.

A party of four, we had a most enjoyable evening at the Hinds Head, Bray. The food was delicious, sevice was very good without being intrusive, and the wine selection offered a fair amount of choices. We ended our meal by sampling a new golden grappa, not yet on the menu, which was perfect as a digestif.

Me and my partner both had 3 course at the hinds head! The service was excellent and the food was some of the best id eaten. The only downside was my partner had the wine slush and millionaire shortbread and it was very much on the small side for the price. I had the warm chocolate pudding however and it was amazing although the ice cream probably wasn't to my taste! I also had a sweet shop cocktail and it is the best cocktail I've ever had! definitley recommend if you find yourself there

Took a friend to the Hinds Head for her first Michelin dining experience as a treat for recent promotion. The pub has an olde worldy feel and an amazing selection of cocktails for a pre dinner drinks. Dinner menu is great - just enough choice but not overwhelming. The prices are as expected for Michelin and the food was exquisitely presented and tasted great (steak was a little more tough than expected but could have been the cut I chose). Service was good, everyone well informed and friendly but not as attentive as I expected to match the quality standard of the food. Was difficult to get attention when we were ready to have our order taken and more often than not we had to get attention for something we needed vs. being offered.

You pay for what you get, which is outstanding customer service allied to excellent food. The staff are all very knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. Don't go every week or you'll get spoiled but this was our third occasion in the last twelve months and it was as good as ever, although the table we had was in the back corner of the dining room and not great if you go for the ambience. I have eaten at the Hinds Head several times and always enjoyed it, so much I had recommended to friends for their wedding anniversary which we all celebrated together. Unfortunately a complete let down... We all wanted roast beef- none left, if the restaurant knows how many bookings they have why don't they ensure there is enough? 3 of us had roast pork which was very fatty, of the two small pieces you are served only a quarter was meat and edible. One fillet steak dinner was indeed beautifully done. Two lovely desserts and a shared cheeseboard that surely was designed for a mouse. Overall a disappointing experience, I left hungry and we ate again at home soon after, not what you expect for £80 per head. Service ok nothing special
