A word from The Hinds Head - Bray
We’re located in a listed 15th-century building nestled in the heart of the pretty village of Bray, near Maidenhead in Berkshire. Our ambience is that of a local village pub, offering you a warm welcome, exceptional, friendly service and outstanding food.
Our restaurant menus offer a combination of traditional seasonal cuisine and historic British dishes, all designed by our owner, chef Heston Blumenthal. Heston's quest for excellence in taste and flavour is combined with Head Chef Kevin Love's respect and love of fresh seasonal produce, to create a menu of British favourites in harmony with the building's Tudor origins.
Our bar area is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a light snack, accompanied by locally sourced guest ales and a carefully selected wine list.

I had been looking forward to going to the hnds head for some time. I was rather disappointed with what I found. The food, as expected, was good, though only good, and the set lunch menu good value for an apparently premium restaurant. The service was not up to scratch though. Front of house was nauseating artificial. The waiters just didn't have the edge expected and the odour of BO wasn't a pleasant addition.

First ate here for a business dinner and I along with my American colleagues were very impressed. Since came back twice with my family and found it again very enjoyable. My partner is normally very 'picky' and this is the first time eating out that she told me she had enjoyed every course and would like to go again. Praise indeed! The ambience, which is not too formal, and great service added to the experience. Have recommended the place to a number of people and look forward to eating there again.

The service was extremely slow. Twice I had to walk around th eplace to find a waitress - once to see if we could get a source to accompany one of our meals so we had food at the table that i had to walk away from. Other diners seemed to have the same issues. One table seem to have swallowed something rather awful and to be honest it is an experience I would rather forget! After 40 minutes of waiting to order desserts we gave up and again went to find someone just to ask for the bill.

Lovely local pub atmosphere, whilst the decoration is nothing special there is a nice ambiance. Greeted at the door by a friendly;y member of staff - we had a few drink before the meal. Service throughout was great, not overbearing - though slightly slow to take our dessert order. The food was some of the best pub food around, the menu is the right size to be able to choose what you fancy - rather than having a shed load of items. Our table had a decent variety and everyone enjoyed their dishes from starters to dessert. Highly recommended.

The service and food was delicious. I would have liked to have seen more variety on the menu and i went about a year ago and I think I had the pea and ham soup before, so not sure how often the menue is changed? but the food I had was delicious and the service was great too.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch, the food was excellent and the venue itself is gorgeous. Our only problem that when some of our party were running late, the maître d' was insistent that she needed the table back within two hours, despite my having checked that this was not an issue beforehand (we were coming some distance so delays with traffic were possible). In the end there was absolutely no problem and the waitress was very helpful, saying it was fine to stay for longer when we asked when we were seated, so that added stress had been for no reason. Other than that I cannot fault this beautiful setting for a brilliant catch up with friends.

We had a birthday dinner here for the second year in a row (my wife is a former chef and a real foodie), and it was as good as ever. Starters: the scotch egg is scrumptious, the (raw) venison is subtle, complex, and meltingly divine. Mains: my wife's oxtail and kidney was so deep in flavour it almost went through the plate; my 7 y.o. daughter had a shepherd's pie that she rated a 12 out of 10; but the highlight for me was the chicken breast. I honestly almost got tears in my eyes so good was it. If this is chicken breast than I wonder what I've been eating all these years. Order it and be transported to a land where chickens are pampered by minion chefs. Desserts: the quaver pudding tastes of luxurious pumpkin pie - highly recommended.

Arrived an hour early for an 18:15 booking, we were told we had to sit in the bar until they were ready for us. We had a nice drink in the bar but it rapidly became noisy and very busy, so at 18:10 I asked if we could move through to our table and look at the menu to be told that they couldn't find our booking! I told the waiter we had already been asked for our booking almost an hour ago, so he said we should sit down and he would come and get us. Over the next 10-15 minutes we watched other people arrive, check in and be sat at their tables. I was about to go and ask again and we were taken through. The service in the restaurant was good and food, in particular the oxtail and kidney pudding were very, very, good. Great food let down.

Having wanted to try a few of Hestons' dishes since watching him make them on his program on TV, we though why not try the Hinds Head for our 24th Anniversary. We had a table booked for 6.30, but due to bad weather and heavy traffic on the way, we were running late, so we phoned up to warn them and they were absolutely fine about it and told us not to worry (unlike what someone had written in a review). The staff were very helpful and did't rush you and were very willing to explain what anything was. We like many others wanted to try the infamous Scotch Egg, well what do you say, no hype, they are to die for. Next for starters my other half had Pea and Ham Soup, we've never had soup like it , the flavours were bursting though, I had a Hash of Snails, which again was wonderful. For our main meal one of us ordered the Veal and the other the Chicken, which I hate to repeat myself, but was done to perfection, ordered with a side dish of vegetables and the Triple cooked chips, well, I'm not going to say it again but it was everything i hoped it would be. Not want to leave the place feeling bloated we didn't have desserts, as much as I wanted to. Either way, it is a great experience tasting food cooked his way.Although it's not cheap, it's well worth the money. Will I be returning, of course. It would be rude not to.

Great food!!! No service at all!! Really poor service!! I've been there last Friday to celebrate my wedding aniversary and we really enjoy the food but the service was really poor!! I left a note on the booking we are celebrating wedding aniversary and its a surprise for my wife but we didn't have a word from the staff like happy aniversary or something like that, we waited at least 15min for the drinks and 25min to someone to take the order and was not the waiter taking the order was the hostess, waiter always with bad face, on the floor was just one gentleman smiling at all the time and I think was a runner!!! I almost refuse to pay the service but I didn't feel confortble to do that because we work in the hospitality as well!!

We had very high expectations but sadly left wondering what all the fuss was about. Service was very poor, had to ask to place our order having sat ready for over ten minutes. Every time out party needed service we had to find it, just not sharp enough for price and general expectations. Starters were fantastic, mains very average and deserts nothing to write home about. Having booked this table for my team at the end of a days team building I'm afraid our initial excitement and anticipation as a group of foodies soon diminished as we left feeling we have had far better gastro pub experiences with better service and more affordable in the past. What a Disappointed Hinds Head!

This was my second visit to the Hinds Head, this time with a friend rather than a romantic meal with the boss, so I was hoping for a similarly exceptional experience to my previous one, particularly as it now has one star. I'm glad to say that we weren't disappointed. Exceptional service, exquisite food all topped off with the wonderful quaking pudding. Michelin star well and truly deserved... If you're thinking of a paying visit, you won't be disappointed.

Had lunch with my family. My dishes were all excellent, which I could not tell about my family, as, unfortunately they received oversalted food..:( one of the dishes was even sent back. Also small portions of side dishes (especially fries). A small discount was given by restaurant for the replacement dish, but a new dish arrived faster. Was a bit disappointed with the experience due to this.

There was a group of 4 of us with all varying tastes. The menu was limited and for those who don't eat a lot of red meat or fish we were limited to one choice for each course. The quality of the food was good and service excellent. My choices but included peas so you can imagine I had enough for one week. For me it wasn't to special as having soup and chicken was what I have at home daily.

This was our first visit to the Hinds Head - and indeed to the foodie heaven which is Bray. It capped a very special day following an investiture at Windsor Castle. The food was excellent - nothing fussy, just good quality, well cooked food served in a completely relaxed atmosphere. Between us we particularly liked the pea and ham soup (wonderful flavours), raw venison, oxtail and kidney pudding, perfect steaks, quaking pudding (with its own explanatory card) and crumble. Good value for food of this quality.

We had the set lunch simply because of cost. Only had a choice of 2 starters and 2 mains which was Ok for 3 of our party of 4. Food was not as exciting as on previous visits. My bream with mussel broth was dominated by tarragon, a herb I only like in small quantities and the bed of greens were somewhat tough but the fish itself was cooked perfectly. The terrine was so soft and rather warm that it lacked the texture and substance of a terrine. Desserts were yummy. Others thought their shepherds pies very tasty but one commented theirs was a bit dry.
