  • A little disappointing..

We had chosen our main course before we arrived,so were very disappointed to be told that "because it is freshly delivered, we've run out". It was only 1pm, so it was poor ordering by the chef if they had already run out! We were offered a substitute of Patridge but we both dislike game, so were then offered lamb. It was tasty, but as I had eaten the Daube of Beef there before, it was a poor second. The meal was good, but not memorable. Such a shame as it was a birthday treat for me and my daughter's first visit to this restaurant.

I took my mother to the Jews house for her Birthday meal. We both thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening and the food was perfect - as was the wine, although I did have to help my mom down the steep steps especially on the way out!

Pleasant lunch, on their "Lunch for less "tariff, Food very good, although limited wine by the glass choice: (personally I don't do a full bottle at lunchtime, and I suspect most other people don't either). Quick, pleasant and efficient service. Recommended for lunch ( we haven't tried the evening menu so I can't comment).

This is in a really interesting old house. Attentive service and very good cooking. We had a venison and a lamb dish for mains and a delicious pud.

Our meal was on a Saturday night, and the quality of the food was outstanding, the flavours, presentation and service added to a very pleasant evening, we dined in the "library" which held 10 covers, with a real fire, this made for a great atmosphere, the menu is fresh in season produce, and the wine menu is extensive.

Visiting my daughter at Lincoln university, I took her out for an evening meal at Jews House Restaurant having read the reviews. We were not disappointed, the menu choice was exciting, the dining room upstairs had an expensive feel, the service was attentive and the food excellent. I shall definitely be booking to visit again next time I go back to Lincoln. This restaurant is perfect for a special meal out.

Book in advance - This Restaurant is not large but very popular, probably one of the best restaurants in Lincoln, although not Michelin * probably should be; we had an excellent evening, Starters and Mains were exquisite especially the Lamb which was delicious in a wine reduction sauce. I would recommend the Cheese Board: a very nice range of Cheeses and not too much of each. Overall everything was beautifully presented, the wine choice is very broad for both price and palate. The food was delicious, not overdone and whilst not nouveau-cuisine was just enough. We also had an additional Starter which was a pleasant surprise from the Restaurant. Overall an extremely enjoyable evening perfect for that Romantic occasion. Doors open at 7.00PM

Took friends here for dinner, arrived before they opened so they opened early for us, serving us with an aperitif in the lounge. As before the food was excellent, well presented, delicious with portions just the right size. The service was attentive but not over powering. A great restaurant at the bottom of Steep Hill Lincoln.

Very good food and service in an unusual setting. The only downside was that we booked through Open Table for the Saturday night, but were called by the restaurant directly to inform us they were actually full. Fortunately we were able to book the Friday.

I've been to the Jew House a couple of times now. When I look at the menu, I'm never quite sure what to order as nothing ever seems to take my fancy, but now, I just have the confidence to try something new - because the food is fantastic and well thought out. The service was bordering on being too long and we had to prompt for the bill, but generally, you can't go wrong.
