Relaxed and inviting, we offer an incredible menu of fresh, seasonal dishes with a well-chosen wine list that reflects our attention to detail.

Occupying the ground floor of an original foundry building, the restaurant, which is in walking distance from both the Old and Young Vic, seats up to 50 diners and has a buzzy bar.

Service was a bit slow. We had to wait quite a while for our first round of drinks and when they arrived, they got the order wrong. As we were waiting for our staters there seemed to be a lot of diners also waiting and not many eating!! Overall the meal was nice, but service generally could have been better.

The Laughing Gravy was recommended to us as being close to the Old Vic, where we were going for a 7:30 play. We arrived at 6:10 and were shown into the lovely dining-room: airy with fairy lights and a glass ceiling. Our waiter said one course would be a good idea if we had to leave by 7:15 and we did just that with sides and a bottle of wine. Three of us had various fish dishes and the fourth had one of the vegetarian options. The food was delicious and service was very prompt. We were full without being stuffed which kept us awake for the play! I would recommend Laughing Gravy to anyone who is in the area for dinner.

Unfortunately after waiting for 1 hour and 45 minutes for our Sunday roasts, the food arrived cold. There was little communication from the wait staff and a weak explanation of “we’ve had a lot of large groups” was provided after we questioned them on several occasions. We were offered one complimentary dessert for our troubles. The final straw was being charged £23.50 for roast lamb when the menu had it listed for £20.50. Won’t be going here again. Absolutely terrible.

I visited the Laughing Gravy with my daughter on our weekend London trip. It was excellent food with many choices, can't comment on the puddings as we didn't get that far! A little slow on the service however that was an advantage for us😉 but we were not hurried at all and if someone gad been playing the piano(which was close to our table) it would have added to the ambience. Would definitely recommend to family and friends

I've dined here a good few times and am eternally grateful to my colleague for introducing me to this fabulous establishment. We celebrated my friend's birthday over lunch and as usual, the food was superb. The service was impeccable and what I love about this place is it's laid back chic. Staff that are non-intrusive, but have extensive knowledge to give a recommendation. One guest check after the food is served. It's not the cheapest lunch location, but to indulge in good food or for a special occasion; The Laughing Gravy is the place to be. The food is always freshly prepared and beautifully presented plus birthday girl got a free dessert. I had a wee tipple - their new cocktail, which was delightful. To quote Arnie; I'll be back...

A nice cosy restaurant with comfortable seating and lovely lightening / decor in the evening. Staff were really welcoming and nice, put a sweet candel in my birthday desert and guided me to the restaurant as I was a little lost - if using Google maps best to search using the postcode. Food all tasted and looked fantastic. Great also for a special kind of dinner event.

When it comes to family get togethers, I usually have quite specific set of conditions regarding venues. Generally lively but not too noisy, homely / warm, good value for money and good service. This place ticked all the boxes and was an independent option instead of a chain. It was a 10 min walk from South Bank but it was a very mild evening. The best thing was the service. We arrived 30 mins early and were still looked after in the bar area. The waiting staff were second to none, attentive and polite. The wine list was expensive but diverse. The Yorkshire Puddings and actual gravy? To die for. A lovely menu with something for everyone. A tiny bit noisy but also a lively vibe. Will definitely be coming back.

By nature neither of us are 'going out' kind of people, but for our 20th we wanted something special to mark this amazing milestone...and by choosing the Laughing Gravy, we achieved something special! The prices on the menu at first seemed a little high, but by the end, it was worth every penny. The service was faultless...made to feel welcome from the start. The menu was quite small, but the choice was enough. The food was beautiful through every course. Not huge portions, but there was just enough.the prices are a little steep when you read the menu...but by the end of the meal you realise.it is worth every penny. Please remember to tip the staff, they deserve it for the service they provide. Excellent!

A classic bistro - excellent, fresh in-season ingredients, well and inventively cooked (scallops with Scotch eggs - that's a first for me!) Fast, good, attentive service. Relatively small so cosy but comfortable. My Venison Wellington was perfectly cooked: moist & tender, & the cauliflower cheese macaroni as a side dish was not only unusual, but a perfect complement (I was actually secretly hoping to find cauliflower cheese on a restaurant menu, as I'm a virtual addict of it, so couldn't believe my eyes or luck when I saw it!) The drinks are also excellent - the fresh fruit cocktails are amazing (I had a fresh raspberry Bellini) & the wine list's small but a good selection, some by the glass or carafe (great if eating alone).

A great find. A friendly welcome on arrival. Once seated it was obvious this was not the place to come if you want a quiet romantic evening meal. Very good friendly atmosphere for groups celebrating special occasions or for pre/post theatre meals. But with food tasting this good who has got time to talk. The salted caramel fudge desert was very rich but truly scrumptious.

The food was good and we really enjoyed it. However the let down was the service. Everything was too slow, waited for the starters forever and didn't even had bread available. Could see other tables had been served and finished and the food still took long. The waitress done two mistakes with our orders and not even a rectification in the bill. The drinks took far too long to be served. The bill came up quite expensive as well in the end.

I came here for an anniversary dinner, and so was after something special, without being super pricey. I was not disappointed, staff were lovely, great with information about the menu - food and wine - and attentive without being in our faces. The restaurant had a lovely cosy, not too bright relaxed atmosphere, and the food was amazing - beautifully presented and impressively delicious. I've been telling everyone, and fully intend to return.

Booked the restaurant based on location, was called by friendly-sounding chap to confirm booking, offered directions but I'd just been to recce. Arrived spot on 8, service very attentive, good conversation, relaxed atmosphere. Food was very good, and the house wine was spot-on! Sadly only had time for starters and main, time to 930 went very quickly. We would want to go back with more time to spare, and enjoy a three course meal next time!
