This is a good pub and the owners and staff deserve credit for bringing a bit of vibrancy to this part of SE London. However, our Sunday lunchtime experience was very disappointing. We ordered a starter and mains but were kept waiting for well over half an hour for the main course. I had to ask where it had got to, only to be told (apologetically, admittedly) that it had been overlooked. When the mains did arrive, my wife's meal was cold and had to be returned. The quality of the meals was average and really not worth the price. This is a pity because we have eaten well at this pub in the past - usually weekday lunchtimes - and had high expectations of Sunday lunch.

Great friendly welcome and very efficient service. We had 2 roast beef Sunday lunches which was very good. Beef was cooked as we like it still a bit pink middle. Lovely Sticky Toffee Pud to finish. A very pleasant summer Sunday afternoon was spent at The Lord Northbrook. We would be happy to come back.

For sunday lunch, a meal after work or a special occasion with family, the Lord Northbrook is our favourite local pub. For my nan's 87th birthday lunch with a wide range of family members of all ages it worked extremely well. good food, great ambience, nice service and uncomplicated menu.

We have recently moved to the area and are delighted that this is our local pub - the restaurant area at the back is in a big conservatory which opens onto a decking area - absolutely lovely on a sunny day but, I imagine, would also be nice under the stars. The food and the service were excellent - Sunday roast was a winner. We will definitely be back soon!

I've been here a lot before so I knew it would be a lovely place for a laid back Sunday lunch on Father's Day. The Lord Northbook didn't dissipoint. The food was cooked to perfection (gastro pubs can normally be hit and miss when ordering a Sunday roast!) and our waitress was attentive and smiley through out even with a very busy service. Couldn't have been happier with it all. I'll definitely be back soon.

Big mistake taking my family for dinner there. On arrival we were ignored and bypassed for 10 mins just to be seated. It took 20 mins to order some drinks and each bottle of wine we asked for was out (there were only about 10 on the list!) The menu was limited and the food not that good when it arrived. The waitress really didn't know (or care) what was in the ingredients and she was very slow at taking orders. The ambience wasn't conducive to a family meal, it was early Saturday evening but there had been a party on all day and looked set to go on all evening. The staff were all harassed and dealing with that. Our second round of drinks simply never materialised so we paid up and went home for drinks and dessert. I would not rush back!

We took friends to the Lord Northbook as it is one of our favourite locals. I told them the service was always excellent, friendly and the food lovely. Starters came out ten minutes apart. My starter was terrine with a bit of salad and toast, quite why it took ten minutes longer than the bread and dip starter is beyond me. Our waitress lacked personality and was slow. Ordering drinks and she came back 15 minutes later to ask again what the order was before they finally arrived. The food itself was good and it is a lovely pub decor wise. No where near the usual standard and a bit disappointment.

We went on Weds night, quiz night as it turns out which is on the PA over the whole pub - including the dining area - which I can imagine might annoy some (we decided to do the quiz while we ate). Service a little slow at times, but when it came very attentive and friendly. Food was great. Some nice craft ales on tap. Would recommend.

We eat at the Lord Northbrook fairly often and the food is very good. Not quite up to the usual high standard last Sunday, but the restaurant was very busy and problems were dealt with swiftly by the excellent waiting staff. I don't think we will come for Sunday lunch again, but that is just due to the number of children and their badly behaved parents - Saturdays and evenings are a winner!

the seating can be cramped and on this visit it was again. Staff can be very young and sometimes this shows in the level of service. I enjoyed my roast lunch could have been warmer in general (Yorkshire pudding had to be asked for/ would like a jug of gravy) but it was a very busy service with large tables so think the kitchen did well. I did find a whole star anise in the crumble (which is constructed after cooking so should have been spotted) which was disappointing. The menu doesn't seem to change enough and does stop going more often, but the food is always good. I would invest time in getting all staff up to speed on everything you sell, not always sure when asked Beer selection is good Advise booking as gets busy Go and try yourself

The food standard has unfortunately dropped a little since our last visit. Seems very much like a different chef is in the kitchen as I had the same dish I had a couple of months ago but it was nowhere near as good as it was before. Mash was a bit watery and beef wasn't well seasoned. Shame as it used to be amazing. Hopefully it'll pick up again as it's a great pub.

We've been to the Northbrook for a midweek lunch and loved it so thought we'd try a Sunday lunch on the next visit. We had a table booked for half four so ate around five and we were quite disappointed. The food was not the same standard that we had enjoyed on our previous visit and seemed as though it had been reheated from earlier in the day. After having such a good brunch before, which not only tasted great was presented lovely, we were quite put off. I asked for more gravy for my meal which when it came had been reheated in a microwave, the handle on the jug was hot. The yorkshires were dry and almost crumbly. It just wasn't what we had expected. I'd go back during the week for lunch or dinner but won't return for Sunday lunch.

We visit this pub on a regular basis but always with the kids and during the day. This time we visited with another couple and we all Had a great evening. Only downside was the soup was 'very watery' for a ham and pea soup and the mackerel pate although delicious would have been nicer with bit more texture.

Good food only reasonable service as they were busy so maybe more staff at peak times might be an idea? Friendly waitress took on board hints well, such as add a fork to spoon for puds. Went for dinner at the Lord Northbrook. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The quality of food is excellent and the setting is really great. I had the burger which is really great value and the desserts are fantastic, plus you can order draft beers from the bar and their range is great. Minor criticisms are that both the menu and the wine list could probably be a bit longer.

My third visit in the last few months was the best yet. Three of us had three different mains and all were excellent, and beautifully presented in the very pleasant, light new dining room to the rear of the pub. The place was busy, service was great, and we felt very relaxed and impressed by a bill of just £90 or so for three which included a good bottle of wine and several other drinks, coffees, a shared bread starter, puds and so on (not in that order!).

The Lord Northbrook serves a great Sunday lunch with everything cooked as it should be and served piping hot (it is winter!). Reasonable prices @ £14.50 for very good roast beef with all the trimmings. Only small gripe was being asked to sit next to noisy children when I asked to be away from them. Highly recommended but be sensitive to single customers needs!!
