Diner Reviews
  • "I came here with a friend and had the three course theatre menu. The food was tasty and original. The service was friendly and knowledgable. The only slight problem was they mixed my friend's up but we were pleased with the way it was dealt with. Wine was really good but expensive. I'd definitely come back here though."

  • "We had brunch in the lobby lounge as the Northall seemed a little busy that morning and the food was delicious. Service as always excellent and prompt."

  • "The title says it all. Having eaten in many of London's more expensive restaurants and hotels I can honestly say that the food at the Northall was the worst I have ever encountered in this price range. The bar staff are, however, very good and I can't fault the waiting staff."

  • "Have dined several times always treated very well. Our table was not ready. We were offered a complimentary drink at the bar.l;lovely food as usual"

  • "2 courses in 45 minutes before our trip to the theatre. Food was delightful - bread and butter couvert never a disappointment as always."

  • "Superb restaurant with excellent service! We spent a very happy evening and the food was succulent. We will go again."

  • "We needed a pre-theatre dinner near to the Trafalagar Studios in Whitehall and chose the Northall for its location and write ups. It was fantastic - a wide choice of options, beautifully presented by attentive staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Will be going back there soon."

  • "We went back to the Northall for a celebration meal because the first time we went we were bowled over. There is always a worry that the 2nd time round would not be as good. WELL NOT HERE - it was better!. The service and the choice of food was excellent and the wine waiter knowledge was first class and very approachable. The crab and beef starters were superb. The posh fish and chips with mushy pea's were the best my husband has had and the fish en papiot was superb. My husband went for the choc a holics delight for a 2nd time - he could not resist it and I has the cheesecake. Can't wait to go back"

  • "Staff are very attentive and service is excellent. The pre-theatre menu features creative cooking. The strawberry pavlova is particularly pleasing."

  • "We chose the Corinthia for pre-theatre dining because it was opposite the Playhouse where we were seeing a show. Unfortunately due to a police incident we were very late and it is to the restaurant's credit that we got through the three course set menu in 45 minutes. The food is very good and deserved more time really. It is modern european but with a twist in that its deconstructed in a Blumenthal sort of way. For example the steak and ale pie was presented in its component parts, steak, gravy and pastry, separately. It worked and the food is well done. Worth a visit, but be warned that parking in that area is difficult at any time."

  • "We had the pre theatre 3 course dinners with a glass of champagne. First- the garden bland with a very nasty, gritty dried olive topping. The main beef and oyster pie was deconstructed with very dry chunks of beef, a tiny bit of flaky dried out pastry. The oyster mushroom was nice. The cauliflower was not cooked enough, very hard, swimming in a thin cream and gruyere sauce all very disappointing. Strawberry pavlava was delicious. Whilst I don’t like to be rushed the service was very slow indeed, the staff were friendly and gave us a free coffee to make up for the fact that we didn’t eat most of our food. This restaurant needs quite a bit of tweaking to be really good. Food needs to do more than look pretty it must taste good as well."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "Rather over intrusive service and shocked that having a jug of iced water on the table on a very hot day was against health and safety regulations -is this true? Starter Crab lovely and well presented , main monkfish boreing and over cooked, pudding choc bomb spectacular"

  • "Lunch at the Corinthia Hotel's restaurant, Northall: excellent. Fine welcome, attentive but not fussy service throughout, very pleasant room, fabulous food and wine, great central London location. No complaints at all and well worth a return visit."

  • "The setting and ambience were lovely, and for carnivores such as myself, the food was rather good. My fiance however ordered the 'tart' which actually turned out to be a quiche which was loaded with egg. They really shouldn't call something a tart if it's really a quiche. The staff however were good about it and offered to replace the dish, although the options were pretty limited to a basic salad or the risotto."

  • "Really good pre theatre menu. Beautiful presentation and flavour combinations. Excellent service. Would go back."
    dined on 16/06/2014
  • "Very good value for money, the food is beautifully done. Usually would expect a 3-course set menu to have at least one average course, but all the dishes were very well made and presented. I had the mackerel for starter, the rabbit for main and carrot and apple cake for dessert, all of them are delicious. Will definitely come back!"
    dined on 11/06/2014
  • "The pre theatre menu choice may be limited but the quality is first rate. Wines are on the expensive side but on Wednesdays certain wines are discounted. Presentation could not be faulted and staff are friendly and efficient. The restaurant design is also superb."

  • "This often forgotten road right next to embankment station houses a grand gem. We went on a Tuesday which I suspect is a slow night for them but, the tripple height space, with tall windows, had ambeance, without feeling overheard by other diners. We used the deal for £30 for 3 courses and a glass of laurent perrier NV champagne. We had a choice of 3 selected options for each course. We thought the portions were well considered, flavoursome and well presented. At £30 great value. The staff were attentive and polite and the somellier was so engaging and knowlegable it was a pleasure. Would highly recomment it."

  • "We were a party of 5 work colleagues celebrating a birthday and the Northall is perfect, lovely food, good service and reasonable value - the set menu (2 courses for £27.50 and 3 courses for £30) is excellent, lots of variety and delicious!"

  • "My wife and I really enjoyed our lunch here on Sunday. Staff were attentive and food was very good. Would return."

  • "My husband and I booked dinner here for a much needed 'date night' and we weren't disappointed! The service was good, friendly staff who were accommodating and helpful. My only criticism would be that a few times we had to call the sommelier over, if you keep the wine out of reach you really need to be more attentive to empty glasses! The suggested trio of champagne when we arrived was a lovely idea and a great start to our evening. We really liked the British menu showing the provenance of each dish, there was plenty to choose from and we both enjoyed every dish we ordered. The smoked salmon was the best ever tasted and the crab salad was just divine. The restaurant is beautiful and we would definitely visit again!"

  • "The ambience was wonderful and for that alone it would have made for a memorable occasion. The staff were very attentive without being oppressive and the recommendation concerning the lychee martini was spot on. The food was just lovely. We has three courses and were there for the best part of three hours and neither of us was really aware of the time elapsed. Would really recommend the restaurant but some of the other facilities were also impressive. Not cheap but good value and we intend to return"

  • "Just a fabulous experience - delicious food in elegant surroundings, tempting cocktails, relaxing and luxurious. Great professional service and The Northall is now a regular on my trips to London"

  • "We went for a pre-theatre meal for our wedding anniversary. The building is magnificent and has been well-converted from its previous use by the MoD. The menu came with a (very small) glass of champagne and 3 courses for £30, which was great value. The choice on the menu was limited but adequate and the food was lovely - well presented and delicious. The strawberry pavlova was a highlight! The staff were attentive enough without being intrusive and got us through the meal just in time for us to make the theatre. Only small gripe is the wine list which was good, but very expensive. Will definitely be going again. "

  • "The roast beef was cooked to perfection and was accompanied by delicious crispy roast potatoes. I highly recommend the Rhubarb Pavlova - its divine! The service was faultless, waiters were very friendly, attentive but discreet. Would highly recommend dining at The Northall to anyone."

  • "Second time at the Northall for lunch, always a delight!"
    dined on 24/05/2014
  • "We were celebrating a special occasion. The restaurant is beautiful to sit in,and the walk through with beautiful flowers We found all the staff very obliging and efficient. we had the pre-theatre meal, although we were not going to the theatre, and we were not rushed at all. The food was very attractive. Most of the party had a ballyntine of rabbit which was thoroughly enjoyed. The only let down was that the wine was expensive, which rather spoilt the occasion, also the extras were pushed strongly e.g extra vegetables which pushed up the cost. Overall though it was a nice evening."

  • "The Northall @ The Corinthia should be on everyone's "must visit" restaurant list as it offers a perfect combination of excellent food, superb helpfully attentive staff and wonderful views of the London Eye and Southbank to enjoy."

  • "My sister and I took our father here for his birthday lunch. The set price menu has plenty of choice, though we all opted for the dressed crab starter and delicious calves liver for main course. Nobody had room for dessert. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Plenty of gluten free options too. The bread is delicious!"

  • "I took my wife to this restaurant after a theatre show for her birthday. I must admit, one of the nicest experiences we have had. The service was 10/10...they really looked after us, the food was out of this world. We shared a bottle of wine - which in fairness was quite pricey and depending on your preference can go over £50 a bottle, nevertheless it was a rare treat and to be honest we really enjoyed ourselves. Couldn't fault anything with this restaurant and would 100% come back again - in fact looking to come back again with the family. Try this place and you will be pleasantly surprised!"

  • "I have eaten at The Northall on numerous occasions and I love the place. The theatre menu is excellent value and although the choice is quited limited, I have always found something to choose. The service is excellent and not intrusive (which I love!) Although the ambience can sometimes be lacking a drink at the bar afterwards will address this."
    dined on 14/05/2014
  • "Delicious food, beautifully presented. Marvellous service in wonderful surroundings. Highly recommended."

  • "We came for a celebratory lunch. The dining room looked beautiful. We enjoyed some delicious bread while waiting for our meal. The batter on the haddock was crisp and delicious. There was a generous helping of very good chips. We both enjoyed a delicious lemon tart with passion fruit ice cream. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. When she heard that we were celebrating a birthday, she organised a special touch to my friend's dessert. People dining on the mezzanine level should be warned to wear trousers! Those eating downstairs have a view up their skirts!"
