A word from The Savoy Grill
The Savoy Grill dining room has been restored to its former glory, with original 1920's Art Deco lighting, lustrous wood panelling, mohair velvet coverings and gold leaf lined faux turtle shell-clad walls all reflecting the room's glamorous heritage. Head Chef Andy Cook, has created a menu that is inspired by classic British and French dishes of old and includes the theatre and excitement of table side service for a number of dishes. Situated in an elevated room set behind a glass wall, The Savoy Grill Chef's Table offers up to 8 guests a fascinating view of the kitchen pass and all the action of a theatrical service.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "It was for a special birthday and all the staff such a big fuss of us! We had a lovely time. The food and drink were excellent too!"

  • "I like the whole Savoy experience, so this lends a lot to how I feel about the Savoy Grill. Valet parking for £10.50 in Central London is a big plus point. The restaurants Art Deco surroundings are lovely and the atmosphere is great. The two person booths with their 90 degree seating positions are ideal for that romantic, relaxed lunch or dinner. My wife is a vegetarian and while I feel the choice for this option is adequate, the quality and/or value isn't. The service had all the right ingredients but didn't quite come together, we waited a while to have our drinks order taken, and the wait for our food order to be taken was too long given the price, expectation and location of the establishment. Minor issues in an overall lovely lunch."

  • "The Savoy Grill is a 'Special Occasion Restaurant'. We took two of our teenage granddaughters there for lunch to celebrate their excellent exam results. Both girls were overwhelmed by the ambience and the choices on the various menus. Unfortunately there were one or two issues with accuracy and speed of service. These were eventually handled in an exemplary manner. Food and presentation were perfect as was the overall experience."

  • "we were here for a second time, this time to celebrate a 60th birthday and my husband's son achieving his uni place. Staff were professional, discreet and everything went like clockwork. I had informed them in advance of our celebrations and they certainly made us feel special. The food was wonderful, although my fish was a little overdone. However, it didn't detract from what was a fine evening."

  • "Went to the Savoy Grill for my boyfriends 18th birthday celebration it was probably one of the best meals we have had! As soon as we got there the staff were lovely and made us feel relaxed instantly. The cocktails were very nice and the food was delicious, would definitely go back for another special occasion! The waiter we had gave us very good service and was cautious when I made him aware of my nut allergies, he made sure nothing I was ordering had any nuts in which was nice and made the evening more relaxing for me! They also gave my boyfriend a lovely birthday surprise at dessert. It was a special evening that we will never forget, overall everything was great, would eat there again!"

  • "The service and the ambience were excellent. The food was also very good - we went for the set meal. My only criticism is that the 3 courses were not as well balanced as is usual with Gordon Ramsay's restaurants. On the day we were there, there was no really light option for a main course. That said the food was excellent as already mentioned."

  • "My husband and I went to celebrate our 3rd anniversary in style and we were not let down. We stepped into the restaurant and experienced a romantic atmosphere and ambience. The food was divine and so fresh. Especially the smoked salmon starter and the scallops main. The portions were just enough. Overall we had an amazing night at the Savoy Grill and would recommend our friends and family to go there for special occasions. Only thing worth looking into would be that the one french waiter didn't speak enough english and had to request another waiter to assist us"

  • "service and food were both amazing we had our 5 year old son with us and they made him feel really welcome nothing was to much trouble"

  • "I took my mother for the pre-theatre menu. The choice is just enough - three choices per course. I think four would have been better especially as cheese was one of the dessert options. The service was very friendly. We were never rushed and the food appeared promptly as one would expect for pre theatre. The waiters were cheerful and helpful. Everyone was made to feel welcome. The quality of the food was excellent . Nothing was left - we were completely full by the end! Wine by the glass was a little expensive. The bill for two came to £104 inc vat and service. So expensive but very enjoyable . The one thing that let down the ambience was that the air con was a little severe! We will be back for my mother's 80th next year!"

  • "Off course is the Savoy, but only the outstanding service of the italian chief of waitress and the spanish waitress make a difference to others grill. They actually has not fillet that day!"

  • "As the photos on the walls testify, the Savoy Grill has long been welcoming the rich and famous. For lovers of art deco, the room is fabulous and yet the ambience is completely unstuffy thanks to the efforts of the waiting staff who go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Our food was good but maybe not outstanding and for some might not meet expectations given the price. But my elderly father very much enjoyed his lobster thermidor which is not offered at many restaurants nowadays. And we had a thoroughly pleasant lunch."

  • "I was given a voucher for Christmas and chose this particular Gordon Ramsey restaurant after viewing all the various restaurant menus online. The menu I was presented with was markedly different from the one I was expecting. Many of the dishes I was looking forward to were not on the menu. When I questioned this with a waitress, I was informed that online is only a sample menu. I made the most of the evening, but was extremely disappointed."

  • "Even though we had booked trough open table and were obviously paying less than other diners, the staff were just as attentive to our party as to othe other guests. A most enjoyable experience which we will definitely repeat. Don't be put off by the menu - the staff were happy to explain and it's worth trying something new!!"

  • "We had the set lunch which was divine, left feeling full, after great service and a great table, overlooking the restaurant and the other diners enjoying themselves. We would definitely return."

  • "I expected more - the decor and ambiance are great. True old world charm and style. Drinks were excellent, as was the service. Food was very mixed. The foie gras was tasty but was missing something to make it a hit. The escargo are unique and amazing. The mains were a real disappointment. The duck was too dry and needed a sauce. I've never had duck anywhere without a sauce. And duck and a sausage is just not appetizing on a plate. The liver was tasty but there was way too much of it - it overpowered the plate - it needed to be a smaller portion with a complementary side. Left with a disappointing feeling overall - it could and should have been so much better."

  • "Me and my partner ate at the savoy grill on Thursday evening and were very disappointed and upset at the quality of the food we received. I visit Gordon's restaurants frequently in Las Vegas when I'm there and knowing how high standard the food normally is we were really excited to experience London. We ordered the food and wine and the service was very good however we were upset at the quality of the food the chips seemed like they were frozen and had no real taste! The beef fat roast potatoes were really hard and tasteless with little potato in! You could actually hit them with a fork and they sounded hollow! The steak was average and the greens in garlic just seemed like strips of tasteless cabbage. Would not go back Sorry!"

  • "A most amazing and spectacular experience from start to finish. The staff cannot do enough for you, felt like royalty, very well cared for. As for the food, well totally amazing, some of the best food i have ever eaten and excellent sized portions. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone can't speak highly enough of it"

  • "Service excellent - frenetic at first but calmed down when they realised we weren't in a rush to get anywhere. Starters of frogs legs, smoked salmon & omelette Arnold Bennett all perfect accompanied by the usual, glorious bread. Perfect. Very decent wine by the glass accompanied. Main course of beef Wellington was beautiful , the beef quite incredible - husband & 11yr old niece loved it. Lovely Italian waiter from Tuscany very knowledgable about the food and sommelier always a treat. A lovely time."

  • "Had the pre theatre menu. It was great, only regret was that I didn't book earlier so we could fit in 3 courses instead of 2! My wife is a coeliac (gluten free) and they were very accommodating. Our waiter also was very good as he actually gave us his opinion on certain meal options. So often you go to a restaurant and when you ask for guidance the waiters give a non-committal, "airey-fairy" response, ultimately not helping you decide at all. He was very firm with his suggestions, which might put some people off, but helped us a great deal so it was appreciated."

  • "My wife and I went to The Savoy Grill to celebrate our 10 year Wedding Anniversary. What a wonderful experience. We were slightly early but the table was ready and we received an extremely warm welcome and were seated immediately. Thereafter the service was impeccable. We were made to feel very welcome and very comfortable. The food was outstanding and at the end of the meal we were served a plate with a couple of small cakes alongside a "Happy Anniversary" chocolate sauce message. A lovely touch and top class treatment all round. STRONGLY recommend The Savoy Grill for any personal celebration."

  • "I experienced the Savoy Grill during the time I took my clients as guests during 1980/90. I enjoyed the experience again but it does not have the same ambience"

  • "It was clear from the very start with the level of service that we were going to enjoy our visit. The staff were attentive and plentiful to ensure that not only your dining experience was pleasant but they also anticipated your wishes. The waiter was friendly, chatty and made the whole experience one to definitely recommend. The food was delightful and the range of wines available was impressive."

  • "Wedding anniversary - excellent table, food and service. Atmosphere, surroundings and ambience made everything special. Had Escoffier 4 course set menu which was great. Excellent service from all staff and at the end of the meal they brought us 'happy anniversary' written in chocolate on plate with some petit fours. We stayed for coffee during which Sir Tom Jones arrived to eat at the table next to ours!...adding to a memorable experience!"

  • "This was a our second visit to the Savoy Grill and oh dear it will be our last. Dress as you want, jeans tea shirts and even shorts. The restaurant is not a destination if you are looking for a class evening. The fact that we were served rotten potato and told it was because they are now at the end of season and the Dover Sole was ruined by lashings of very oily butter was disappointing, however we did get dressed up and felt a little out of place.. Very disappointing considering our first visit was so good."

  • "The staff change to often. Should be able to choose type of table ie banquette"

  • "Our waiter was too bussy TO TAKE care OF our table. He was slow AND careless. Though food was excellent. We would come back AND recommend, but would be careful with vertían waiters."

  • "Upon arriving at the restaurant we were told our table was not ready and to go and have a drink in one of the bars (which we couldn't get in as it was fully booked!)we returned after 10 mins to find the table was still not ready and wouldn't be for at least 15 mins ! This time they said they would ring us when it was ready . We finally got to our table at 7.05 ( the booking was for 6.30) this is really not good enough for a top class restaurant like this"
