A word from The Savoy Grill
The Savoy Grill dining room has been restored to its former glory, with original 1920's Art Deco lighting, lustrous wood panelling, mohair velvet coverings and gold leaf lined faux turtle shell-clad walls all reflecting the room's glamorous heritage. Head Chef Andy Cook, has created a menu that is inspired by classic British and French dishes of old and includes the theatre and excitement of table side service for a number of dishes. Situated in an elevated room set behind a glass wall, The Savoy Grill Chef's Table offers up to 8 guests a fascinating view of the kitchen pass and all the action of a theatrical service.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Food was exceptional - we had a table of five with a fair spread across the table between meat, fish and shellfish. All cooked superbly, and very tasty. Service not as good as it has been in the past, and they forgot special requests I had made (it was a birthday celebration, which was forgotten)."

  • "Old style elegance meant a lovely lunch amid the grandeur of the Savoy. Food was pretty good with the Scallop course and desert outstanding. Steak and onion pudding was a little disappointing but not unpleasant . Wine was pricey but hardly a surprise there. All in all a very nice lunch which was really enjoyed but couldn't tick the value for money box"

  • "Lovely food, lovely service, lovely setting and all at a reasonable price (the pre-theatre menu)."

  • "Very good food with excellent service. I thought that I had booked the special Gordon Ramsey Escoffier menu but landed up with the lunchtime menu - still very good."

  • "Had a delicious lunch before a matinee at the Savoy Theatre. We had a lovely relaxing time and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the experience. The cost is very little more than the chains but well worth it!!"

  • "Took my girlfriend there for dinner , fantastic food and service. Highly recommended."

  • "We travelled from the US and booked a meal at The Savoy on a layover before we hit the continent. We are parents and with two teenage sons. Frankly, the experience had potential for stuffiness, snobbery, and pretense. It was quite the opposite. The staff welcomed us and their main focus was our interest in having a fantastic dining experience. The service and food were excellent as was with wine recommendation. At the end of the meal, our main waiter walked us through the kitchen--wow! Trite as it may sound, we never would have felt comfortable coming to the The Savoy had we not watched Gordon Ramsay's cooking programs. The focus on the dining experience is authentic. Thanks and cheers to The Savoy staff!"

  • "A very enjoyable meal. The service was excellent and friendly. The food was straightforward but very well prepared and the portions ideal for pre-theatre.. We would certainly go there again, and perhaps go for a full a la carte experience- albeit rather more expensive."

  • "A basic choice from this menu well cooked and presented. Service excellent. The main menu looks a better bet"

  • "I loved the atmosphere and the surroundings - the service makes you feel very special! The passion fruit martini was lovely - the waiter wasn't wrong when he said it would be my new addiction! Would definitely recommend for a treat."

  • "Beautiful food and service. Exceeded our expectations. Already saving for a return trip!"

  • "Probably the best service experience in a restaurant ever! Unfortunately, the Open Table pre theatre is not available on a Saturday night, which we thought we'd booked. But don't let this deter you! The price is top end but not ridiculous. We had a lamb confit & the scallops as our mains. We also ordered done vegetable sides. Words fail me on how delicious the meal was. Clean plates were not a problem! We both opted for the chocolate marquise for our dessert. Sublime, simply sublime. Petit fours were served with coffee. But we struggled to fit these in after such an amazing dinner. Thank you to the team at The Savoy for an outstanding dining experience!"

  • "It was my daughters 30th Birthday and I wanted to do something a little bit special and lunch at the Savoy was perfect. Everyone was very friendly but at the same time professional. The food was delicious and just right for lunch. We had the set meal with a bellini which was refreshing on what was a very hot day. When they found it was my daughters birthday they gave her a tiny cake with a candle and happy birthday written on the plate in chocolate. I can thoroughly recommend this."

  • "Ate here for my girlfriends birthday before the theatre. Service was very good, apart from slow with our first drinks, but that was the only complaint. Food was amazing."

  • "Great ambiance, superb service, but unfortunatey the food doesn't come close to many of the steakhouses in London, eg, hawksmoor, goodman, gaucho, buenos aires and maze grill. Wouldnt go back."

  • "we went for my boyfriends birthday and it was such a nice experience, we had a lovely time. service was fantastic and would definately go back!!"

  • "This restaurant gives you exactly what you'd expect from an amazing steak restaurant. The quality of the food is amazing and then the great staff/service just tops it off. Of course it's not cheap, but what do you expect really? The food is great and that's all that matters"
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "Grand setting that promised much, but delivered only slightly. Food was of a good standard but does not justify the grand price tag at the end of the meal."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "Fabulous setting great service very good traditional food great for lunch"
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "The food was well cooked and presented, the taste was amazing. Surprisingly plentiful and very filling. The service was unhurried and extremely professional without being aloof. When they discovered it was a birthday celebration asked us to stay so they could make a small presentation which was a nice touch."
    dined on 15/07/2014
  • "I didn't find the food that good unfortunately and surprising as I've eaten Gordon Ramsey food previously which was exceptional. The beetroot salmon starter was bland The plivithier filling tasted over cooked and was an incredibly rich option for summer pre-theatre dining. The restaurant itself was amazing and very grand."

  • "Booked the 3 course lunch and Bellini offer (great value), excellent food and attentive (but not overbearing) service. Happened to start chatting with the couple at the next table about the food at end of meal when waiter appeared with a small birthday cake & candle for the guy. Waiter then asked if we were celebrating anything and I mentioned that my colleague & I got together each year to celebrate the fact that we shared the same birth date, although it wasn't today. Within 5 minutes, he reappeared with a cake & candle for each of us - nice touch."

  • "We had a special occasion/celebration drinks in The American Bar and dinner in The Savoy Grill. Our evening was wonderful and the staff couldn't do enough to make it any more special. The food was excellent, the surroundings are spectacular and we were also given a tour of the kitchens and the Chefs working their magic."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "Fantastic everything, had a lovely meal, great service. I had the frogs legs which were pretty average, my wife had prawn cocktail which was good. My wife had lobster for the main which was amazing, I had the mixed grill which was very good. We finished off with creme brûlée. The bill was £220 wish seemed a bit high."
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "For an establishment with such high claims on standards it was let down by the front of house. We were served the wrong drinks, not offered any side dishes, served meat that was slightly over done with tepid potatoes and fish was sauced by the without any option of quantity. Additionally we had to as for food to be removed from the restaurant floor near our table (not ours), our chairs were continuously kicked by the staff as they passed and waiters were wandering aimlessly not knowing where a dish was going to the point where I felt obliged to tell them the table that was waiting. Finally the menu had changed but the website was not updated. This left the impression of an establishment trading on its name and historical splendour."

  • "It was everything I expected to be. Although its really expensive, i was worthy!! Gordon never fails!!"

  • "The food was super, the service faultless and the sommelier could not have been more helpful (or knowledgeable). We had fixed menu (pre-theatre and l'escoffier ) both were faultlessy executed - and my husband did not even add salt which he only omits at the best restaurants Thank you Savoy"

  • "Had a wonderful lunch on Thursday. We opted for the escoffier menu. Fabulous! Food, service and ambience all amazing. I unreservedly recommend this Restaurant"

  • "I visited for mid-week lunch. My companion had Steak Tartar to start and said it was delightful; I had Foie Gras which was exemplary. We both had the fish of the day which was whole lemon sole, pan fried. Jersey Royals and white asparagus tips completed the mains. To follow my companion had the cheese and I had the doughnuts & chocolate sauce. I felt the doughnuts were rather over complicated and failed due to that. The sommelier gave excellent advice about pudding wine - his choice proved to be spot on. The service throughout was excellent, from the greeting & seating to the wine waiter, the food waiter to the final bill all the staff were attentive but not obsequious. The bill was fairly chunky, but we did exercise the sommelier somewhat"

  • "Lovely meal and great service. The atmosphere is exactly what I like when I dine out. Quiet and pleasant so I can enjoy my food and dinner conversation without feeling like I need to hurry and finish so I can leave the noisy atmosphere. Very nice."

  • "I loved every minute of it. The pre-theatre menu is very reasonable and tasty, and I paired it with a great glass of wine for dinner, and another for dessert. Server was very doting and friendly. No complaints whatsoever."

  • "Brilliant, Brilliant Brilliant, from the moment we arrived at the door till we left the after a fabulous meal. We could not fault the food, service or the ambiance. It is the first time we have visited the Savoy Grill and we had the pre-theater menu, we do intend to visit again and we will dine from the main menu. The cost was no more than you would pay at any 'Fine Dining ' restaurant in the midlands."

  • "Well trained staff, very pleasant service. We went for lunch and found the room a bit too dark for our liking."
    dined on 06/07/2014
  • "It was absolutely amazing! Delicious food and even though we were 3 young girls the waiter made sure to look after us. Absolutely outstanding! I will be back soon."

  • "Took my Wife for a Birthday Treat as a Pre Theatre Dinner. The atmosphere and surroundings help to make it a special occasion. the Staff were really attentive and helpful from helping with Wine choices to accommodating an Off menu request. Even to the point of bring out a decorated Happy Birthday plate for my Wife as a suprise. For the quality of the food, the experience and the service I would say that is worth every penny."
