A word from The Savoy Grill
The Savoy Grill dining room has been restored to its former glory, with original 1920's Art Deco lighting, lustrous wood panelling, mohair velvet coverings and gold leaf lined faux turtle shell-clad walls all reflecting the room's glamorous heritage. Head Chef Andy Cook, has created a menu that is inspired by classic British and French dishes of old and includes the theatre and excitement of table side service for a number of dishes. Situated in an elevated room set behind a glass wall, The Savoy Grill Chef's Table offers up to 8 guests a fascinating view of the kitchen pass and all the action of a theatrical service.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "We weren't given any explanations about the menu, unlike what (we later realized) happened with other tables. A waiter told us the Specials, however he said that too quickly, and turned immediately away. We asked the Sommelier to repeat the Specials, but he didn't know what the components of the dishes were! We chose the lobster bisque as a starter, which in our opinion, was way too salty. For Main, I chose the Sunday lunch "from the trolley" suggestion: Rump of beef, which was full of fat and that ruined it for me. Sides and desserts were delicious! All in all, it was a nice dining experience, however we did expect much more from a G.Ramsay Restaurant, and for the price we paid."

  • "Came here for my partner's 30th birthday and the evening was lovely. Waiter's were helpful, food was amazing - definitely recommend coming here for a special occasion! Restaurant also went the extra mile and arranged a special birthday dessert and candle which made our evening."

  • "Luxurious venue and delicious food. The Pre-theatre menu had a good choice - but portions were small. The waiters were very attentive and we did have "free" homemade petit fours at the end of our meal. The toilets are an experience in themselves and the cloakroom will look after coats and bags. Waiting in the hotel lobby on a sofa and taking in the atmosphere is an excellent way to start the evening!"

  • "Welcoming friendly staff, great food, lovely atmosphere - what more could you ask for. Would have no hesitation in recommending the Savoy."

  • "My husband and I visited to the Savoy Grill to celebrate his birthday. We were warmly welcomed and shown to a comfortable table where we received attentive service of a high standard throughout our meal. The menu provided plenty of choice for us though some people may expect more complicated dishes. The food was tasty and well presented, although I was surprised that the bread we were served to start with was dry. However we had a lovely meal in elegant surroundings which we thoroughly enjoyed."

  • "Took the TopTable special lunch offer - 3 courses plus a Bellini for £32 - to treat my elderly mum and aunt, visiting from the US, prior to a matinee performance. They really enjoyed the experience, and service was exemplary. It had been my parents golden wedding the week before, (hence my aunts visit) and after the waiter heard this, at the end of the meal presented my Mum with a plate with Happy Anniversary piped in chocolate, with a couple of small cakes - which topped off a lovely lunch. Food was great, and we have resolved to return a bring Dad next time to celebrate his birthday early May (he had opted out of seeing the Bodyguard to play gold instead!). Good value offer, but drinks, sides and coffee bump it up, be prepared! Recommend"

  • "We had a superb lunch at The Savoy Grill on Saturday, I really don't think it could have been improved. The food was delicious with a good selection to choose from and the service could not have been better. My mum is coeliac and in most cases this is very restrictive on what options you can select on the menu. The staff at The Savoy were so helpful and told her that she could have anything on the menu and the chef would ensure it was gluten free. They also asked if we were celebrating anything and made a special fuss of my Mum. This really was a perfect lunch and I cannot wait to eat here again."

  • "The food sadly was disappointing and mediocre. Looked okay but tasted very bland. The staff were charming and wonderful their presence made the visit worthwhile. "

  • "The food was amazing! Beef wellington outstanding! The staff was uniformly friendly, attentive, courteous and paid attention to every detail. Sommelier was appropriate and mindful of my wife's preferences. Gordon Ramsay has lived up to his own expectations!"

  • "Dinner was superb, very professional and most welcoming service. Then the theatre show….wonderful…..really enjoyed out Savoy experience…."

  • "The set lunch menu at the Savoy Grill has gone up in price recently, but the special toptable deal of £32 for 3 courses and a raspberry bellini was worth the price. While the goat's cheese tart starter was a little too flaky, the cod main and rhubarb fool dessert were both delicious. The range of choices was good. The restaurant was full and buzzing on a Thursday lunchtime and, as is usual with all Gordon Ramsey restaurants, the service was friendly, polite and impeccable. Long may the offer continue!"

  • "I thought the 3 course lunch for £30.00 did not have any choice only 4 choices and these were not very nice choice no steak, no chicken etc. Plaice Risotto or duck so I went for the Duck they portions are so small I don't eat big portions but I must say I was still hungry. You are led to think it is good value for money but its not you are probably better ordering from the menu. Drinks are very expensive as you would think, only 2 types of lager and one rose wine to choose from. I would not recommend this restaurant at all. You are also charged for the bread and butter they put on the table even if you did not ask for this. "

  • "We were there for a pre-theatre dinner and were not rushed in any way had enjoyed the menu choice and food. we had different things from the menu and i can say that the Salmon terrine and duck were excellent and the profiteroles with tonka bean sauce were excellent. We choose a reasonable rose wine which went superbly with our dinner and walked out with a smile across to the theatre."

  • "On our arrival we were warmly greeted and the service continued to be excellent throughout. The food was of a superb standard, both of us had the beef wellington for our main course and it was divine. The meal was a treat for my partner and although expensive, it was a wonderful experience and one I would recommend to friends. "

  • "My wife and I chose the Savoy to have Lunch at prior to watching an afternoon Theatre show. From the moment you enter the main entrance to the hotel you feel you are in a special place. Outstanding food, coupled with incredibly professional service, made for a very special day. Throw in the £32 set 3 course Lunch and a cocktail and I am still smiling now. Great place. "

  • "We enjoyed a pre dinner drink in the American Bar and they accommodated six without reservation. We then went through to the Grill. Lovely food, most of our party had a super Beef Wellington, cooked to taste. Service was attentive as you would expect in a top tier restaurant, without being intrusive. A reasonable wine list and we took a fairly good value Rhone. Would recommend and plan to return in due course"

  • "We looked forward to experiencing the Savoy Grill but left very underwhelmed. Service was very disjointed and initially a little rude. Food was good if you rate it against your average bistro but not up to expectation for the Savoy. Clearly Ramsey needs to be there more often and get the front of house in order as well. "

  • "We really enjoyed our meal at The a Savoy Grill, the food was excellent and the service attentive. We highly recommend this restaurant and will return again."

  • "I booked the Savoy Grill as a last minute option but I'm so glad I did. The food was outstanding and it was refreshing to have a vegetarian menu, which meant I had as much choice as the other two diners. The wine was excellent and very reasonably priced and the sommelier was both knowledgeable and helpful. The staff even provided a special birthday dessert without it being requested which was the perfect finishing touch! Very highly recommended! We'll be back soon."

  • "First rate experience from the moment we arrived to our departure. Food excellent, service spot on, not intrusive, but always available when required. Staff courteous and attentive. Part of our wedding anniversary day experience, one to remember. Will certainly be returning in the near future. "

  • "We had the Pre Theatre Menu, which was very good and well presented. What let the meal down was the slow service. The waiting staff were aware we had to be out of the restaurant by 7.15pm and we did not get our main course until 7pm so we did not have time for the dessert course. We arrived at 6pm so there should have been time for the three courses. The continuous aggressive upselling got too much and nearly spoilt the meal. If we had had more efficient service we would have been able to have the three courses."

  • "I took my friends to dinner to celebrate a birthday. The food was divine, the service impeccable and attentive and the waiter's knowledge of wine was very impressive. Would definitely recommend the porterhouse steak and will go back in the future. To top it all a very discreet birthday candle was brought out which topped a wonderful evening. Thank you. "

  • "The food was well-presented, good quality (without being brilliant), and interesting. The sommelier was helpful, and the wine reasonably priced. The service was friendly, efficient and warm; we were made to feel welcome and special. The ambience was excellent for a Special occasion that we wanted to feel relaxed."

  • "I took my husband here for a Monday lunch on his birthday. Never an easy thing to do as he is extremely discerning, gets troubled by production values (if they're not right) and he loves the food if he feels it's good value. He enjoys researching a new experience, cross referencing from various websites, reading countless reviews and weighing them all up. I do none of this. Suffice to say, he was mighty impressed by my choice and he couldn't find anything to fault it. It feels like stepping back into the Savoy of the early days (not that I ever went) and is a great place to take someone to impress them. It worked for me. Oh, and the food is pretty good too !"

  • "We asked to order outside the fixed menu and the Chef made us a six meal secret course and the sommelier prepared a magic combonation of wines to suit the food. Fantastic food, wine, atmosphere and staff! Perfect evening out! :)"

  • "Great food and lovely ambience. Drink is expensive, as you would expect. Service is friendly but a little frantic and I don't think they are completely tuned in to pre theatre, so we had to cancel coffee to get out in time."

  • "The famous Savoy! Finally, we stepped inside the Savoy and give it a try. 1st impression is great, service is great. The room itself is a bit too dark for my taste, but I supposed it's great for candle light romantic dinner. Took their offer menu and found the food too salty. However, that's just me. I prefer lightly flavour food which I believe express the taste in the high quality produce better. It is the Savoy hotel and I would say no matter what other people say about the place, you will just have to experience it yourself. Good or bad, you've been there, done that. rIght? Enjoy."

  • "The meny was good structured and the service was outstanding. Loved the dishes, especially the desserts. Could of been a little bit more béarnaise with some more taste of estragon. Apart from that everything was excellent, and we was given well with time to eat and finish every dishes."

  • "The opulence of the surroundings and the superb service meant that our dining experience was exceptional. I will return here again. The prices were not cheap but this still felt Like cake for money. If you want to go somewhere to feel special then this is the place!"

  • "The food was lovely. Good choice. Service was good and the waitress was helpful. Savoy is a lovely hotel to have a restaurant. For me, I thought it was expensive."

  • "I went to the Savoy Grill with my girlfriend, as we were bought a voucher. This was dealt with on arrival and avoided the awkward 'voucher discussion' during the meal / once the bill arrived! The service was excellent throughout, and, despite our dining time of 9pm, we did not feel rushed. Both starters were excellent - I recommend the snails - and the chateaubriand main was very good. Dessert was very tasty but not particularly unique, and the wine was good (some affordable options included). Nice atmosphere / background noise meant that we felt quite private despite being in an open restaurant. Overall a very good experience for a special occasion with great food - perhaps a little pricey and hence I have marked value down slightly."

  • "The staff were helpful , friendly and efficient so we enjoyed our dinner in the Grill , but thought the food was expensive for what it was. Have had more memorable meals elsewhere for half the price. Tables have a time limit depending on booking time . The menu cards looked scruffy and could be designed to look much more attractive."

  • "There really has a great selection of food on the menu and the service is second to none, !"
