Diner Reviews
  • "As if we were enjoying tea with the Georgians. Best high tea in London"
    dined on 22/07/2014
  • "We visited for a long overdue afternoon tea scheduled for last year - the waiter, Michael was very attentive and explained each 'course' as the afternoon progressed. A young lady called Rebecca also assisted with equal enthusiasm. A couple of extra sandwiches were requested as they were so yummy. The addition of lemon curd to the scones was welcomed by my mother-in-law for the contrast to the sweet jam and cream. Encouraged to have as many pastries as we wanted, the lovely rhubarb tart was a change from the run of the mill cakes you might get elsewhere. Banana or chocolate cake was an unnecessary extra as we'd eaten som much already! The surroundings were calm and we had plenty of space around the table."

  • "The food quality and service were very good. Would be nice if they offered to box any remaining cakes to take away like other establishments as quite large portions of cake, a bit too much after other items. More expensive than some other similar establishments and felt a bit cheated as could not finish all the choices on the day."

  • "We had the high tea as it includes more savoury options - the traditional afternoon tea is very, very sweet - lots of cakes. our tea was replenished frequently. We were offered more sandwiches. The crumpets were lovely. We were all very full after the food!! We were there for nearly 2 hours and the time flyer by. The service and the hotel itself was outstanding. The hotel was very beautiful. Even the toilets are stunning! It was a very special occasion, and one I would do again. Finally, we liked the fact that on a very hot London day we did not have to wear jackets and ties. We thought it was much more relaxing and better than the Ritz which is now too touristy."

  • "Very nice experience. Choice was very good but in total too much to enjoy properly. Only Point for improvement is that serving personal should be dedicated to a table and not Change too frequently."

  • "We loved it! From the doorman to the waitress to the toilets. It was just a delicious divine experience."
    dined on 17/07/2014
  • "The afternoon tea was birthday gift and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The atmosphere is calm and elegant and the vegetarian sandwiches and cakes are amazing."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "We came down from Scotland for the day especially to have afternoon tea. It was a lovely experience and my only complaint was that I was too full to try all the cakes!!"
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "No complaints whatsoever and the only query would be that the bill arrived after and hour and a half and we got the impression it was time for us to settle up and leave. We might have been tempted to stay longer without the 'hint'."
    dined on 14/07/2014
  • "We were made to feel that nothing was too much trouble, even though there was a possibility that our numbers might increase from the booking we made. The service at tea allowed us to concentrate on our guests without being interupted and it made the perfect place to catch up with friends. The variety of teas suited us all and we each were able to choose our favourite without compromise and sandwiches and sweet pastries were delicious."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "I personally thought the food selection was poor. Toast and crumpets and scrambled eggs. I have them at home any day. Nothing special about them. Last year we went to raffles. The food there was superb. Out of this world."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "Simply excellent. Wanted to go to the Savoy for years. Everything about the whole experience was perfect. Wonderful service, attentive thoughtful caring staff. Could not do enough for us. Beautiful afternoon tea and delightful champagne Moet & Chandon. Want to go again next week!"
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "I took my mum here for a special treat. The service and ambience was perfect. We just couldn't manage to eat all the cake and only had a nibble of the last signature cake. It was very nice but just too much food!"
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "Ate most copious amounts of the most delicious food and cups of tea that kept magically appearing. The staff were lovely and accommodating and the piano player was absolutely beautiful. Tea at the Savoy is definitely something I want to do again in the future. It was magical."
    dined on 10/07/2014
  • "The Savoy really is a lovely place to sit, there is plenty of space and it is light and airy. The piano playing was lovely. When I booked I had said I have a problem with dairy, I cant eat cheese, cream, milk but am ok if it is there is some dairy used in baking a cake or scone. So when I informed the waiter, he said I would have to wait for the sandwiches as if no-one had read the email. However once the sandwiches and scones came out the waiter asked if I would like some non-dairy cream but again was informed that I would have to wait and this time it took a while. You need a very large appetite to get to the cakes, therefore didnt get the chance to eat much. Wasnt allowed to take any home, the cakes given must have gone in the bin."
    dined on 10/07/2014
  • "We were notified three times of our afternoon tea booking and at no time was there any mention of a time restriction so surprised to be asked if we would like the bill when asking for a drink of water. We were then informed that most teas were an hour to an hour and a half. Sandwiches were fine although all strangely similar in taste ,the cakes were pretty ,but my chocolate gateau was hard and Inedible."
    dined on 10/07/2014
  • "Very good service, polite and friendly staff and dining area lovely, but we did think the Gazebo was far too big spoiling the overall look of the room. Sandwiches nice and fresh with a fair selection (more were offered if required) and were served on a three tier cake stand together with scones. The home made scones were a bit disappointing as the texture was more like pre packed ones, the home made lemon curd was lovely though. Although the cake selection was very nice, we did expect them to arrive on a cake stand like the sandwiches so we could take our time deciding which ones have and how many but they were brought to the table on a tray for us to choose before they were taken away so felt we had to make a quick selection."

  • "My group of three American women carefully chose the Savoy for afternoon tea after reading dozens of reviews of London restaurants. We were thrilled with everything about our time at the Savoy! We were surrounded by beautiful table settings, flowers, live piano music, a brightly lit domed atrium, a great waiter and wonderful people watching. The food was delicious, and the treat of two dessert courses was extra fun. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment and highly recommend this terrific London tea ."

  • "This was my belated birthday treat for my sister who was 70 in April. On our many visits to London over the years we have never visited the Savoy so this seemed the ideal time to do so. We both thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience - it was everything we hoped it would be. Many thanks from Jean and Margaret"

  • "My wife and I had afternoon tea at the savoy on Saturday 5th July; it having been bought for us by my children for my 60th birthday. The room was lovely and the service excellent. The staff who waited on us were efficient and very friendly. The food and the tea were also of very high standard and the portions generous. I would strongly recommend afternoon tea at the Savoy to anyone."

  • "Afternoon tea at the Savoy is a wonderful experience, I went with 6 other ladies on Saturday to celebrate my 30th birthday and had a wonderful time. The food was excellent and the portions were generous, the service was perfect - attentive but not intrusive, we weren't in the least bit rushed and overall I would thoroughly recommend it. I particularly liked the live piano music as well, which really added to the ambience."

  • "Lovely experience for a special occasion good service and choice."

  • "Had a fabulous gluten free afternoon tea at The Savoy. Tasty sandwiches , warm scones and exquisite cakes and pastries. Lovely surroundings and ambience , with attentive but unobtrusive service. A real treat!"

  • "Afternoon tea at The Savoy Hotel with friends. The staff made us feel really special and sat us at a low table with very comfortable chairs and a small sofa. All the furniture and accessories in the restaurant are beautiful creating an overall luxurious and interesting atmosphere. First course sandwiches and scones are left on the table for sharing and topped up when empty. Freshest bread imaginable. The pastries and signature cake are brought on trays for you to choose what you would like individually. You can eat as much as you are able in the restaurant but are not encouraged to take leftovers away with you. This led to one member of our group feeling that she'd not had very good value from the occasion. Optional service 12.5% added ."

  • "Tea at in the Thames Foyer at The Savoy Hotel is a memorable experience. Many hotels offer tea but for me The Savoy wins. The service is exceptional and the surroundings are comfortable and relaxed. Great choice of teas and choice of high tea with scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and crumpets or traditional afternoon tea. Looking forward to returning soon."

  • "ridiculously overpriced we were basically served 1.5 teas and charged for 4 customers shouldbe able to take away what they cant manage"

  • "Had a fantastic time at The Thames Foyer. The service was excellent and the afternoon tea was amazing. This was a special treat for my daughter who has just graduated from university and it was just perfect. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to celebrate a special and/or romantic event."
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "Came here as a treat to my Mum for her 60th. It was lovely and I was astounded when I we were offered a replenishemnt of sandwiches and scones which I was not expecting. Would definatly reccomend it as a place to go to celebrate something but not an everyday occurence as it would take the speciality of it."
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "Rather disappointing - this was a gift for my friends 40th birthday & we had high expectations. The service was rushed to start, then slow. Had to ask for champagne, then to have my dirty plate cleared, then had to ask for fresh tea (which was poured into my existing cold tea.), then more clotted cream, then for a fresh pot of tea. We had 3 waiters during our visit & only the last one seemed to be on the ball. There didn't seem to be any flow to the meal & no one was keeping an eye on our requirements. Have also had afternoon tea at The Dorchester - that I would choose over here without question. We did sit in the bar afterwards for a champagne cocktail & this was a much better experience with regard to service - ambience was amazing too."

  • "We spent a wonderful time in The Savoy with delicious food and tea."

  • "What a lovely time at the savoy. Aftenoon tea was superb we chose the savory menu . Atmosphere was fanatic and as we expected the staff couldn't do enough for us. Top marks again. If your in London and want to spoil yourself go and try it you won't be disappointed."
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "Aside from having Afternoon Tea in an iconic London hotel, the experience from the moment you walked through the door was sublime. The level of service is second to none and the food, well it's more than afternoon tea, it's breakfast, lunch and dinner! Great value."
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "excellent under every aspect. impeccable service as you would expect from a five star establishment"
    dined on 26/06/2014
  • "As a special occasion to say farewell to a colleague, a group of us visited for Afternoon Tea and the overall experience was fabulous. We enjoyed a mixture of Traditional and High Champagne Teas and the service, quality/quantity of the food/tea, was spot on. The atmosphere was quiet and genteel with a pianist playing on and off all afternoon. We were a later sitting and were not rushed, the attentive service we received made us feel as though they were there just for us. Requests for additional sandwiches, tea or scones (but not champagne - shame!) was not a problem, just knowing when to stop eating was. Would certainly recommend as a place to visit."
    dined on 25/06/2014
  • "Having been to Browns, Ritz, Fortune and Mason we rate Savoy bottom of the list. Seats uncomfortable Sandwiches boring and badly displayed Crumpets pre-buttered apparently!! Cake choice not very exciting Salmon and scrambled egg very average. Service very good Overall experience - could do better"
    dined on 24/06/2014
  • "A celebration for my daughter finishing exams. Excellent food- service was out f this world, with well informed waiters who were attentive but discrete.a wonderful end to a fabulous weekend- will be back at the earliest opportunity!"
    dined on 22/06/2014
  • "Our Waiter, Michael I think, was amazing, very welcoming, polite, and looked after our specific needs very well, the food was also outstanding and plenty. Our new favourite restaurant to take afternoon tea, I've had afternoon tea everywhere but think this was the best so far, the piano playing was so nice and couldn't of wanted for anything more. many thanks to the whole team with a special thanks to Michael!, take care see you again soon."
    dined on 22/06/2014
  • "Afternoon high tea was a most enjoyable experience and one I will not forget in a hurray. A lovely relaxed atomosphere. The waiting on staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The selection of teas available were outstanding, a tea to suit most peoples tastes."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "Have not been for a few years and sadly it's lost its glamour and appeal. Sandwiches were average. Service so so (couldn't get more milk for tea despite trying And waited nearly 30 mins for someone to give us our bill). It used to be the only place I would recommend for high tea. It's far to overpriced for what we got. The piano was so loud you can't hear yourself think. Dress standard says no sports gear and there were people seated next to us who had just come in from a run looking very scruffy. V disappointing. Dorchester is MUCH better."
    dined on 20/06/2014
  • "Fantastic experience. Thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. The staff were very attentive. Mother was very happy. The food was simply delicious and the tea was perfect. The champagne was good. The whole ambiance was nothing less than we would have expected from the Savoy!"
