The Thames Foyer is the heart of The Savoy hotel and the perfect venue for light, informal dining. Guests can also indulge in Afternoon Tea in this comfortable and intimate spot accompanied by the hotel's resident pianist. Afternoon Tea at The Savoy is an enduring custom where guests can choose from a range of teas served with finger sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream & jam and a mouthwatering selection of cakes and pastries. The Savoy is proud to be a member of the Tea Guild and received the Award of Excellence for 2011, 2012 and 2013.

We all had wonderful afternoon tea, enjoyed by all six of us. The food was excellent, they did bring more sandwiches and scones when we asked. The room setting was relaxing, and lovely decorated. Also a very good choice of tea's , but being a table of six people, our tea was on a side shelve away from us, and we had to keep looking for the waiters, to ask for more tea in our cups, and sadly the tea was cold, this was the only down fall. Apart from this we all would go again. I have to say that all of the staff were very pleasant and very helpful and a created to the Savoy Hotel Two of us had birthdays, and it was a lovely touch when the staff came out with two small cakes with a candle in each for the birthdays. A wonderful afternoon xx

A really special hotel to have afternoon tea. The staff were very attentive and the choice of 2 different afternoon teas, sweet or savoury, was great. We chose the savoury and were very full at the end. There's also a huge choice of teas. We chose the afternoon tea which was lovely; not dissimilar to the tea I drink at home but lighter. The atmosphere and decor was very nice. A lady started playing the piano at 2 and played happy birthday for someone while one of the waiting staff brought out a cupcake with a candle for someone. Overall we really enjoyed the experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to The Savoy for afternoon tea. The surroundings were opulent, the atmosphere was one of elegant relaxation and the meal was perfectly delicious. The selection of teas was excellent, and we enjoyed the sandwiches, scones, pastries and cakes. The young lady who served our tea was courteous, friendly and knowledgable, and helped to make our visit a most enjoyable one. We will definitely be having tea at The Savoy again.

The ambiance was good and the table and it's location were good. The sandwiches were tasteless and everything was over large there was no finesse. The service by was good we were a large party and quite demanding. We had a fair amount of food left over so we asked for a box to take it away, to be told this was not the Savoy's policy. We had paid for this food, if it was given to the homeless or eaten by the staff fine - but I doubt it. In this day and age of trying to reduce waste.....

The surroundings were beautiful, we had a great table and the food was very good. The only downside was that the service was very slow. We would have preferred to have the tea pots on the table so that we could serve ourselves as they were on a stand next to the table and this was not convenient. Also we were not offered a second pot. We would definitely go there again however as the overall experience was super.

A lovely treat for my mother in laws birthday. Service was amazing, very friendly, courteous and constantly topping up your tea! Sandwiches, scones, pastries and cakes were lovely; however, I would say that I preferred the sandwiches at the Radisson Hampshire's afternoon tea. Pianist very good and played Happy Birthday when the waiter brought out a little cake for mum. Overall a wonderful experience.

It was a delight to have afternoon tea at The Savoy, from arriving in the foyer of the hotel until catching a cab at the front door at the end of our stay. We felt special, taken care of, and thouroughly enjoyed the the meail and ambiance. Being seated quite close to the piano player, who was an excellent performer, I did find the music a little bit loud. Since we were one of the last tables to be seated, we experienced that our waitress (Rebecca, I think) ended her shift before we finished our meal. This was a shame, as we wanted to tip her for her excellent service. She was absolutely lovely. The food was also very tasteful and I only wished I hadn't been so full from over-eating on the scones. I will definitely recommend this to others!

My first time at the Savoy. Excellent service. Tasty food (and plenty of it). We couldn't eat the 3rd course because we were too full by the time we had the 2nd course. A Beautifully chilled bottle of Moët Chandon rose. Various of tea to choose from. We occupied the table almost 3 hours without knowing it!! (Surprisingly we were not asked to leave as per table should not be occupied more than 1 hour and 45 mins) Waiters were very attentive. A perfect afternoon! Try it for a special occasion. Will definitely return

Our overall experience was marred by our inattentive waitress. The surroundings are opulent and serene-barring the people wearing sweatpants and trainers. We began with a glass of champagne, an exquisite mini birthday cake complete with candle and piano accompaniment of Happy Birthday. Our table was adorned with a cake stand and plates filled with finger sandwiches and scrummy scones. Downhill from there I'm afraid. We drank our fizzy and then over the next 30 minutes had to ask 3 times for our tea. Being told twice that it was being made and then watching other being seated and enjoying their cups of tea whilst we watched on was majorly irritating. With a final bill of £280 for 4 I would have expected an outstanding experience...

It was an excellent experience, one which I hope we will be able to repeat in the not too distant future. My thanks go to the Savoy & all its staff involved in making it a memorable day for my Wife.

Had tea at the savoy 3yrs ago. It was a lot better then, I thought the sandwiches were ok but the cakes had gone downhill dramatically. Tea at the Dorchester far more prefable, better value for money too. Also quoted as being £47.50 was actually £50 or £55 once there.

The thames foyer was the setting and it was a very elegant room with a pianist playing in an Adobe in the centre of the room. Our waitresses were very attentive, my tea cup was never empty and they were very friendly too. At the end of our experience we were presented with a beautiful cake on a plate with happy anniversary piped on it in chocolate which was a very nice touch. The Savoy is so lovely, from the ambience to the food to the service. Their gluten free options are superb - the best by far of the afternoon tea's in London. While it's priced on the high side, you do get unlimited sandwiches (and probably scones if you ask) and they also let you take home your desserts if by chance you've stuffed your face with a bit too much of the savouries. The ambience of the restaurant is great as well - with two areas for tea. The main Thames Foyer with the giant Victorian birdcage/gazebo in the centre is elegant and girly, while the dark velvet and gold trim in the bar area is so swanky and romantic. I prefer the latter, but have enjoyed my time in both. You will not be disappointed with the Savoy.

We had a superb afternoon tea at The Sayoy in celebration of my mother's birthday. We were met at the entrance and escorted through the hotel, my mother is wheelchair bound and was always treated with respect and courtesy throughout our visit. Our place in the foyer was very comfortable and private, seated in comfortable arm chairs. Our waiter came to introduce himself, he was charming, funny and looked after us very well. We found out all about Kasper the cat!! At no time were we 'shepherded' through, as my experience has been in another famous London hotel.

I was lucky that inspiration hit me out of the blue when thinking of a 50th birthday present for someone very special. She works in the catering industry and is a passionate lover of and maker of good food. She also loves a 'dressing up' occasion and the afternoon tea was absolutely appropriate. She was utterly bowled over by the whole occasion and we would recommend it without hesitation.
