Really lovely. Good food and excellent value. £25 for 3 courses and the food really was worth every penny. Been to a lot of gastro pubs that would charge a lot more for the same standard of food. Service was outstanding too; waitresses were super friendly.

This was a present for our 40th wedding anniversary, the Food, Staff, and seating was lovely the only fault and it is worthy of note, I asked for two glasses of champagne, which they didnt have but were served two glasses of sparkling english wine which was very nice, but not chilled. we did have to put some supper cakes in a box to bring home!! all in all a most lovely treat

This was our first time at this restaurant and had gone on recommendation. The menu choice was small which was fine for me but not my husband who is very fussy and the only thing he would have chosen, the steak, was sold out. The food was excellent and the service was exceptional. We had gone as it was my birthday and just happened to mention this in passing. They produced a small cup cake with a candle in on a slate with Bon Anniversarie written on. It was a very nice touch. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We had afternoon tea, there was four of us but I felt very ripped off when I was presented with the bill for £68! Sandwiches we're ok, scones were lovely but a poor selection if cakes and horrible slice of carrot cake! £17 too much for a cup of tea, a few sandwiches and a couple of cake slices!

Excellent service: quick and efficient, all staff very attentive and pleasant. Food wonderful: interesting flavour combinations and attractively presented. Beautiful relaxing setting, attractive dining room. Took daughter for a birthday treat with baby grandson and baby was welcomed and acknowledged. Fed him later in high chair outside. Very child friendly. Daughters food intolerances catered for : wheat and dairy free provided without any fuss, and staff all double checked .We really enjoyed the experience. Will certainly be visiting again!

I FEEL THAT IF YOU ARE OFFERING A SET MENU FOR A SET PRICE, THEN PLEASE, DO NOT PUT ON ITEMS WHICH COMMAND A SUPPLEMENT, AS THIS NEGATES THE WHOLE POINT. OVERALL THE FOOD WAS GOOD, BUT THE FLAVOUR COMBINATIONS WERE A BIT WEIRD FOR MY TASTE

We went recently for lunch for our wedding anniversary it was really lovely sitting in the garden eating. We have taken our daughter and her husband for an evening meal for their birthdays, they were very impressed. We have also eaten in the evenings on our own which was very nice. I highly recommend the Secret Garden for whatever reason you want to have a really good meal in great surroundings.

Having visited the Travel Clinic closeby, my husband and I thought we deserved a nice lunch. We had never been to The Secret Garden before but will definitely be back. We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing couple of hours sitting outside looking at the beautiful garden and our food was delicious. We are planning on returning for an evening meal which hopefully will be just as enjoyable. Only criticism was the service was a little slow but definitely didn't ruin our visit.

We went on a Tuesday for the £20.00 for 3 courses which is very good value but beware if yo want any sides then you do have to pay extra and some of the meals like steak have a supplement . you then have the drinks on top so its not quite as good as it sounds. Service was a bit hit and miss this time as they got the drinks order wrong and also charged us for extras that we did not have. The food is very good but watch out for all the extra charges. I would go back again but only for a special occasion or if I had a voucher deal and check your bill

This is a gorgeous place for an afternoon tea or more. The food was lovely the waiting staff were polite and helpful. The cost was also very reasonable. The missed trick was that they were very busy and needed some prompting to provide all the service they were capable of, other than that full marks. We will be going again.

We've been to the Secret Garden a few times now, as a couple and in groups, and always the food is exceptional. Well cooked local produce. Occasionally the service can be a little slow, but if you're not in a hurry this shouldn't be a problem. Staff are friendly and generally efficient. Definitely recommend.

The food here is as good as always - and the soufflé was superb. Very flavoursome when some recent ones have been lacking at times. Unfortunately we were sitting next to a group of very loud ladies (why do they do that?) which is fine - a risk one has to take in a busy restaurant. However the restaurant was only around half full and we felt an alternative table could have been discretely offered to us, especially as the staff recognised the problem. We also had to remind about our drinks order which was a little irritating. Overall good - but not as good as usual :(

As always the food was lovely but unfortunately the service was absolutely awful. For a start we were sat an hour before we even got our drinks, when they came out they got them wrong. They messed up out order as we'd booked for cream teas and they tried to give us afternoon tea which is more expensive (also making us feel like we were to blame for the mix up). When we questioned it they took the food away and took about another half hour or more to bring out the scones By which time we'd drunk our tea. They couldn't even give us the right amount of glasses for people for our water. Needless to say we were very disappointed and will be going somewhere else next time we want cream teas

We ate here on Father's Day. The restaurant is very nice inside and out. Great for kids with space for them to go exploring safely. Checked the menu online and thought that approx £23 for 3 courses was fine. But on arrival found there was only the Father's Day special of £30.00 for 2 courses. No starter choices, and essentially a buffet with only 5 main courses, one of which was a hog roast and a range of ok but not inspiring salads (all you could eat, that's true). Not exactly value for money. They did include the coffee in the menu but that might have been because it took them half an hour and three requests to give us the bill. Very friendly service but extremely slow. Would try it again but not with those special menu prices.

We have been coming here for a number of years, and are pleased to find unwaveringly good standards of food, service, comfort (especially outside) and surroundings. Without doubt the overwhelming strong point is it's settling in a large walled, quintessentially English Country Manor garden, which when the weather permits is extremely well served with a glass covered roof, and very comfortable quality furniture. And the outlook is to die for! The food is acceptably good, and is worth going to even if you have to eat inside which is very pleasant. Very good, efficient, friendly service.

Took my mother for Sunday lunch which she enjoyed very much. The ambience, surroundings and service were great. Unfortunately we could not book before 2pm by which time roast meat was not in optimal condition. All other elements of the meal were good, fresh vegtables and freshly prepared starters so dont be put off booking. Suggest order freshly cooked meals if your booking is later.

Took my mother for lunch to celebrate what would have been her 40th Wedding anniversary. My lovely dad passed away from a brain tumour in 2006 but I wanted to take my mother out to talk about her memories of her special day back in 1974. Had been recommended by our daughter. It was our 49th wedding anniversary and I thought an afternoon tea would be a relaxing way to spend the afternoon. I mentioned this when booking. We were made welcome when we arrived. Teas was served - almost too much to eat and half way through we were presented with a Happy Anniversary message written in chocolate. That made us feel very special. Unfortunately the weather was wet but we will visit again to enjoy the gardens and another sumptuous tea!!

we started with a nice bottle of wine and then afternoon tea - staff very polite and helpful - one of our parties was disabled and excellent facilities - only comment was that because it is a small room it was very very noisy as people were finishing their sunday lunches - a shame afternoon tea could not be in a separate room from the lunch diners as had the ambience of smelly dinners! if the weather had been better we would have sat outside which would have been much nicer. Would go again but only if the weather was good enough to be separate from diners.

The Secret Garden does some of the tastiest locally sourced food in Kent, all of which is beautifully presented and outstanding value for money. The staff are attentive, friendly and knowledgeable, and the setting is beautiful - you walk through a large courtyard (which used to be a stable block) before you enter the restaurant, which has been decorated in a lovely shabby chic style with stunning views over the orchard. Their glass conservatory is also amazing for private parties - ask to see it! They're also becoming famous for their amazing afternoon teas. I have eaten here many times and will continue to do so. In my opinion The Secret Garden is one of the best restaurants in the Ashford area.

Since we last went to "The Secret Garden" the only thing that's changed is the decor, the food & service is still very good. My wife and I went there for Sunday Lunch to celebrate her birthday. Having wet her appetite with the Tipple of the Day - a white wine and elderflower spritzer, she had the baked scallops, followed by the fish and the highlight for her was the lime souffle with chocolate ice cream. After a "posh" scotch egg to start, for me you can't beat the roast pork with roast parsnips, roast potatoes and crackling, accompanied by a rainbow selection of fresh vegetables. The staff were attentive, without making you feel rushed and the presentation of a small cupcake with candle was a lovely touch.
