Diner Reviews
  • "rude, arrogant manager, extremely overpriced restraurant, bad service , horrible food. i would not go there again and not recommend it either.extremly bad value for money."
    dined on 23/08/2014
  • "The Summer House simply cannot compare! Full marks on all counts!! Keep it up:-)))"

  • "Enjoyable venue for a celebratory lunch. Pleasant surroundings with good service and a fitting menu, of summer salads, fresh fish courses and pleasures for meat eaters and veggies alike."
    dined on 21/08/2014
  • "The Summerhouse is a nice venue and we were lucky enough to get a canal side table on a sunny day. Food menu was fairly limited - mainly seafood. I wanted to try the Clam chowder but sadly it wasn't on the menu that day. Food was tasty - I went for the catch of the day which was scallops. The fish and chips were also very good. Overall, a charming restaurant to visit and I would definitely like to go again and would recommend to others."
    dined on 16/08/2014
  • "Once again, we had a great time. This place combines great food and beautiful views."
    dined on 10/08/2014
  • "Good fish and seafood, nice place for Sunday lunch and walk along the canal afterwards"
    dined on 03/08/2014
  • "Post-work, pre-theatre dinner at the Summerhouse. Food was lovely, the service was excellent and the ambience was everything you'd hope a sunny day by the Warwick Avenue's canals would be. Only complaint was during the pre-dinner drinks, there was a constant and pungent lavatory smell that kept floating by. Other than that- great."
    dined on 01/08/2014
  • "Dined two weeks prior with a friend, first visit; both had the full 3 courses a la carte, couldn't fault it. Returned 2 weeks later, food was very good but not excellent like before. Had I left a review after first time dining there it would have been five stars all the way. I would recommend nevertheless, even with a slight drop in standards it was very good. First time round the seafood sharing platter was delicious including the best calamari either of us has tasted in London. Main course fish dishes excellent both times.Great atmosphere & on the second visit the restaurant accommodated our request for canal side table."
    dined on 28/07/2014
  • "Fantastic venue and ambience for a summers day. Lovely menu with plenty of light dishes. Giant risotto balls much enjoyed. Service efficient in a busy venue. We love the setting."
    dined on 26/07/2014
  • "The charm of the Summerhouse is that it is right beside the canal and has an LA feel about it….The decor is modern and nautical and its usually busy with a cheerful ambiance. The food is fine although I found the salad somewhat limp and the dressing somewhat tasteless. The service is dozy depending on who you get…..don"t go if you are in a hurry. It could be a superb restaurant of its kind, a unique setting and on paper an excellent menu."
    dined on 25/07/2014
  • "We had another great meal at the Summerhouse on Wednesday evening. Again we brought someone new who was just amazed by the setting and couldn't believe they hadn't heard about it before. Lovely weather, great food and great service."
    dined on 23/07/2014
  • "We had a good table for dinner next to the canal. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. The food was fine but the vegetarian options were very limited."
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "Fabulous location right on the canal. We went on a very sunny day and they had the side open which was lovely. The food was good but we left hungry - only brunch had been available (for a 12pm booking on a Sunday) and the portions were extremely small. I'd go back but make sure the full lunch menu was available!"
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "The location of this restaurant is right by the canal. We requested a canalside table and were pleased to get it, although a lot of the canalside tables were empty anyway. I was slightly disappointed with the outlook of the restaurant - although you are right by the canal, it is not a pretty part and there are other restaurants nearby which would have better views. The service was very good. We had the Sunday brunch which was a very limited menu only five options - the usual eggs and panacakes etc. I wouldn't go back for the brunch just because of the limited range of options to eat."
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "My first trip here. Walked past many times. Took some American friends who'd been living in London for many years. Perhaps it was the unusually hot weather, but there is a sense of otherness here which is beguiling. This is helped by a great menu which sticks to its summery remit. Sea bass extraordinarily juicy and so fresh, almost convinced it was plucked from the adjacent lifeless canal. All agreed it was like finding a rare plant blossoming in a corner of your own garden. Service friendly and faultless, attentive but not overbearing."
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "by the canal in Maida Vale, food was delicious and the perfect place to have brunch."
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "This was our second visit to the restaurant, we booked thorough open table, we were given a fantastic table in the restaurant, the service was good, food was lovely. We would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Great place to sit and have cocktails and food on a hot summer evening."
    dined on 18/07/2014
  • "A perfect venue for an early evening business dinner quiet with the passing of canal boats to entertain - the weather helped but the food was excellent and it has an informal atmosphere which was just right"
    dined on 14/07/2014
  • "An amazing gem of a restaurant in Little Venice defo worth a visit."

    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "Nice venue next to the canal on edge of Little Venice, tables fairly packed in but we had the banquette in corner of the restaurant luckily. Good food if not spectacular, decent and varied wine list but very easy to get expensive (>£50 p btl) if you're not careful. Decent service and one of the better restaurants in the neighbourhood (especially in the summer)."
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "Starters ( Melon- Parmaham , Calamri & Onion Tart ) Mains ( Fish Pie , Filler Steak and Fish & Chips ) Deserts ( Creme Brulee , Chocolate Tart , Knickerbocker Glory & Water Melon ) Very good tasty food , well cooked to our choices , good portions and good service Highly recommended"
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "Had dinner at Summerhouse. Nice setting by the canal, very pleasant on a summer evening. Mediterraneen /fish focused food, limited menu choice, decent wine list. Food is well cooked, service efficient and the room/space has a nice buzz. A bit pricey overall, but you should treat yourself to the place once in a while if in search of a french/italian mediterranean scent."
    dined on 25/06/2014
  • "I tried to book a table and also asked a few questions via online booking service, however noone has ever got back to me. That's a pity as I really wanted to spend a nice evening there. Hopefully next time I'll have more luck."
    dined on 24/06/2014
  • "Summerhouse offers an excellent combination of relaxation and good quality dinning which is fit for both special occasions and simple night out."
    dined on 22/06/2014
  • "I throughly enjoyed the food at the summer house and the service was very good"
    dined on 15/06/2014
  • "First class food & service. Beautiful canal side setting. Reasonable prices for London. Only a 10 minute walk to Paddington Station, making it an ideal venue to eat before returning home on the train"
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "Great ambiance.. Restaurant was very busy on a lovely warm evening. We do understand that few dishes were sold out. I did choose this restaurant because its local and 'outside' on the canal.. Great to see the boats and ducks passing by... Food was good."
    dined on 13/06/2014
  • "Great location - alongside the canal, near Little Venice. Good seafood menu."
    dined on 13/06/2014
  • "Summerhouse is lovely for a summer's evening. Fresh air, vibrant, relaxed yet smartish. Service was top notch, a very friendly and efficient waiter. An interesting and varied menu, chose off the specials which were excellent. Wine list quite expensive but good too."
    dined on 10/06/2014
  • "The magic of being on the water never fails to please. The restaurant is always bright and makes you feel good. The menu is quite limited but well chosen to suit most tastes and moods. Service eclectic but usually friendly and it works. Well supervised. Book if its sunny, naturally."
    dined on 08/06/2014
  • "Excellent choice for a sunny Sunday lunch. Perfectly placed, overlooking the canal and it's leisurely traffic. Good food, good wine, good service. That's it!"
    dined on 08/06/2014
  • "Visited last weekend for the first time and will not be our last. The service was excellent even though the restaurant was full. The food was fist class, the fish platter to start was great if not a bit expensive. The whole lemon sole was superb and great value. Would recommend highly especially if you can get a canal side table. Fairly pricey but I did not begrudge that at all. "
    dined on 01/06/2014
  • "Went here for a birthday lunch for my aunt and I. We asked for a riverside table, which they couldn't guarantee on the phone but managed to secure for us anyway. We really enjoyed the meal. Service was very good, and the food selection (mainly fish) was excellent - something for everyone. It was pricey, but not unexpected in the neighbourhood."
    dined on 26/05/2014
  • "Very pleasant walk along the towpath from Paddington to the restaurant. Had waterside table in quiet corner. Quie superb seafood, professional and unobtrusive service. Highly recommended."
