I came here with a friend for really early breakfast (I thought it would be better to book and the only space they had was 9.15) and can't really fault the place. It was obviously very popular as even when I arrived the place was pretty packed. Staff were busy but still attentive and the food came relatively quickly despite how busy it was. The open kitchen is nice to see and the quality of the food was very good. I had the banana and toffee waffle and my friend had the stack. They were both really good, albeit a little heavy. I couldn't finish mine, but not because it wasn't delicious. I would definitely recommend this place, it's a little pricey but worth it for a good breakfast and good service.

We had been gifted a meal voucher for this restaurant and had a lovely experience. The food was very nice, catering to a gluten free diet, and we would return to sample the full menu. The staff were friendly and welcoming, although we overheard one waitress complaining that they didn't get a tip on the food which made us feel quite akward. We paid the advised tip on the bill for our drinks but, it being a gift, didn't know the value of the food. Perhaps they should advise on this in future as we would have been more than happy to contribute. Overall a nice place for post-work dinner or meeting up with a group of friends.

  • Not so "full english"

Though the Breakfast was tasty the customer service was poor . The Full English did not include Black Pudding. This was available with other items under extras priced at £3 each. We asked whether we could exchange the grilled tomato (also available at £3 but included in the standard breakfast) for the Black Pudding - not unreasonable surely - simply swapping one £3 item for another - but refused the manager . The breakfast came minus the tomato with a side of black pudding duly charged out at £3. It's not the £3 extra that annoys me it's just really poor customer service and for this reason alone won't be coming back- such a simple thing that is unnecessary - we should have been talking about the fabulous breakfast.

We opted for brunch at The Table Cafe after reading it's positive reviews. We ate here twice during our stay as it was close to our hotel and the food was great. On our first visit it was a case of 'eyes bigger than belly' for my husband, who had the full English, I had eggs royale - both meals were delicious - the eggs were perfect! The following day we both had blueberry waffles - a great sweet start to the day.

We went to the table cafe because it is near our home and we would never go back; if you want a good breakfast, to to the little cafe in Hatfields where you would get pretty much we ordered for £5.00 per head. The house baked beans were, according to my husband, "absolutely vile". My breakfast was OK, but nothing to rave about. I also had a side order of toast, but they "don't do marmalade" and the waitress recommended their home made damson jam, which they forgot to bring; I had to ask twice to get it and it was in a tiny pot which would only cover one slice. The bread itself was Italian ciabatta, which really doesn't make for good toast; looks good but doesn't toast well - too soggy. Style over substance would be my main complaint.

Although disturbed by loud music from a building down the alley we had an enjoyable brunch. This place has a good reputation and it was clear that other people thought so too - after around 10:45 the queue started growing. The service was a little slow but, considering the number of people there, it wasn't too shabby. The staff were all very pleasant. The food was above average but I have had better poached eggs. I had 'the stack' and the beans with chorizo and ham were a great combo. My wife's eggs benedict were very tasty. Would I go back? Yes, if I was in the area (Southwark) .

Busy and stretched for staff to clean and serve table despite having booked in advance. Waited half an hour for a coffee that was served in paper mug because of shortage of china. Longer wait for food. Everything well presented and tasty. Staff tried their best and extremely hard working. Sides for breakfast including beans at £3! Victim of own success or poorly managed?

As it is a short walk to the Globe theatre we decided to have a pre theatre meal here and our group was not disappointed. The menu encompasses brunch, lighter meals such as salads and more substantial dishes so everyone was catered for. The service was pleasant and the food rated highly by all six of us. The tuna salad was beautifully prepared and not overcooked as it sometimes can be elsewhere. Definitely worth a visit.

... When we only have an hours lunch it's so important to us to be able to get excellent food and speedy (yet not rushed) service. The table knows this and whether it's a business meeting or lunch with a friend or family member then The Table Cafe always delivers! The all day 'brunch' menu is fantastic - my favourite is The Stack, the burgers are great (so what is in their secret sauce?) and if you like waffles then you've come to the right place!

I had the Cajun Pulled Pork Sandwich. The (brioche) bun was burnt, and there was hefty dose of apple sauce that I wasn't expecting, wasn't particularly tasty, and wasn't mentioned in the menu.... The coleslaw looked and tasted a bit old. I also had the 'morning glory' smoothie, which was very expensive and very tiny. Our service was extremely slow, and the portions were small. (I can forgive both if the foods worth it, but that was not the case!) . Don't think Ill be going back! Pity as its in a good location, has outdoor seating and the menu sounds good.

I've eaten at the Table before and had excellent food and service, but on this occasion things were just a little wide of the mark. Steak ordered rare was not rare. A side order was forgotten. Service was not attentive, lacklustre at best, and our bill took an age to arrive (there was some kind of mix up). I will be back as I know how good this place can be, but was disappointed this time. Visit was for midweek lunch.

the food at the Table is obviously being prepared and presented with the utmost skill and care - one can see the fine ingredients being coached to excellence in the open planned kitchen. The urban hipster cool industrial vibe of the venue may not be to everyone's taste but not to visit would be to miss fabulously cooked fish, so moist and flavour packed, interesting food matching and artistic delights on a plate.

I took my partner and parents here for a special dinner. We needed a dictionary to find out what things were on the menu. My dad and partner had the plaice, which was undercooked, my mum had the partridge, also undercooked - it was impossible to prise it off the bone. My main was "Baccala' alla vicentina, polenta" which was sloppy and didn't taste good. The staff were friendly, however also seemed unsure about the what the menu meant. Altogether very disappointed and annoyed. The resturant wasn't cheap, but the food was some of the worst we've had as a family. The owners must think making the place look pretentious, having benches rather than chairs, a DJ playing lift music, etc, makes a good resturant and justifies the price. It doesn't.

Really like The Table for its weekend brunch, although you can't book and it does get busy so be prepared to queue. Most of the seating is refectory-style so you can be sharing with other groups, but this adds to the buzzy ambience. It's not cheap but the quality is high, they have a good sustainability policy and many of the herbs and vegetables come from the St Mungos 'putting down roots' initiative. While the prices are more 'restaurant', The Table does bill itself as a cafe and the ambience is definitely more cafe-like. Love the open kitchen.

Brunch at the Table was good enough to tempt was back the day after. The menu covered all appealing options (fruit/muesli, eggs benedict and full English), the orange juice was fresh and coffee was good. The restaurant is small but well laid out mixing high tables by the window with benches alone long tables. Staff were friendly and efficient - the only small downside was that wi-fi wasn't working. Otherwise, one to recommend (book in advance for dinner to avoid disappointment).

Having heard great things about The Table, I was very disappointed with the food. I had a Romanesco cauliflower starter which was overcooked and had a strange taste, followed by a plaice that was overly salted. A fellow diner had the gnocchi which was far better, so perhaps I just chose badly... but my expectations of the place definitely weren't met.

I really love this place; we've been a couple of times and in particular on the last visit my food was exceptional. Duck liver starter was perfectly balanced, avoiding that cloying sweetness you often get with accompanying marsala sauces, and my main course of plaice was divine, soft and perfectly cooked and almost fluffy like eating a cloud. Beautiful sauce too, not stinting on butter. My partner's osso bucco lacked really deep flavour but was still very good - I think I ordered better. Really great service, and extremely reasonable wine list. The menu had changed completely from our first visit about 3 weeks previously, showing creativity and response to seasonal produce. Really good.

This is a pleasant restaurant with a nice ambience. However the food is reasonable but not fantastic. My son (a good cook) felt he could have done a better pasta than he had as a main course. This place has served great food for a while but the food has gone up a notch further since one of the chefs from Zucca arrived. Stunning modern Italian food, and an excellent wine list. Nice vibe too, sometimes they have a DJ (which seemed a bit OTT but he was playing some fab tunes) or live music, and there's a little courtyard for the summer. They do serve a fabulous weekend brunch but to be honest we got put off as it is so popular with families with yourng children that it can feel like a creche - fine if you've got them yourselves but a bit too manic if you prefer a grown up start to your weekend. Highly recommended for top end yet reasonably priced evening eating.

I was very excited about eating at The Table having read such good recent reviews but came away feeling disappointed. The food was ok but not amazing - I had been geared up to a Zucca-like experience. We had to return a main course of veal as it was overcooked and the excellent restaurant manager dealt with this very efficiently and graciously and removed it from the bill. Our other main course of octopus seemed stingy with just one and a bit tentacles making up the portion. Staff were excellent, it's just a shame that the food was slightly disappointing.

Unfortunately, sparkling reviews meant we were expecting great things, always a dangerous starting point. And when we arrived, the service was wonderful, waiters professional and friendly. The wine selection excellent and staff knew their stuff. Rosemary bread was crunchy and crumbly in equal delightful measures. However, that's where positivity ended - our starters and mains were disappointing - over or under-seasoned, veal which was too oily - covered in butter? - and pheasant that was exceedingly tough, sitting on an ocean of porridgy polenta. The balance was off and was never righted. It was supposed to be simple but hearty food, prepared competently. Gastronomically, we didn't feel in safe hands.
