A word from The Victoria Restaurant
Set at the gateway to the Cairngorm National Park and in the heart of Royal Deeside, The Victoria Restaurant is the ideal starting or finishing point for the many tourist attractions in the area. Fully licensed, and very popular with both locals and tourists, the Victoria serves a wide ranging selection of delicious home cooked lunches and evening meals, teas, coffees, sandwiches and home baking. The restaurant is also a very popular choice for people who are celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, nights out and all sorts of other special occasions. The Victoria is tastefully and neutrally decorated and benefits from a relaxing atmosphere, comfy seating and log stoves in the winter. The owners previous life in the West End Theatre is also reflected in the many theatre posters and pieces of memorabilia which adorn the walls.

It took only 2 and a half years to find a place that can cook a stake properly and we found it. Hats of to the chef. We have been going there for over the past 2 and a half years to the victoria restuarant and they have never let us down. Good quality food and service.

My husband and I dined at the Victoria Restaurant to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary. The restaurant is cosy and relaxed (I was glad to get a seat by the fire on a very chilly November evening!). We actually had the place to ourselves for a good hour which made it feel even more special. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The chef personally asked me how I would like my duck cooked and after discussion, the duck that arrived on my plate was cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were excellent, not too big or too small and everything tasted delicious! Would definitely recommend the Victoria Restaurant to anyone!

Had an evening meal. Food was excellent, as was the service. Good value for the money. Only one minor complaint is the orange sorbet seemed to be flavored with an artifical orange rather than fresh orange.

We went to the Curry Night, one of the Victoria's occasional speciality evenings. A choice of two starters (very good mixed platter of samosa, bahji and pakora and spicy prawns with just a bit too much chilli sauce) and three mains (we had excellent Kerala curry and Palak Ghosht). All food had a good, honest home made taste and was well flavoured. Great atmosphere and friendly service.

Having a table with the restaurant closing for approx 5 days with a booking for 7.15pm (we were last)maybe not the best idea. However, the dining area is pleasant and with tables not too close together it created a nice cosy, very comfortable environment on a winter's night.

The Victoria seems to be able to offer consistently good food. A new starter of home made hummus was full of flavour. We enjoyed our meal as much as on previous visits, the only criticism being the bland colour of the potatoes and sweet corn accompanying the very tasty chicken dish.

Excellent for a stop-over meal if en route on A93 but better as a gathering place for a meal with family or friends. Yoe are made welcome andservice is resasonably quick and effecient with a choice that altough limited should satisfy all tastes. it is popular and booking is advisable especially at weekends and while its own car parking space is limited there ia a a public one nearby.

  • Our second visit in the space
    aldurris
    Dined on 26/8/2011
Our second visit in the space of one month, and the Victoria was full on a Friday night. Despite the bustle, the waiting and kitchen staff kept on top of things, and the service was smooth. My wife asked for a curry, normally only available at lunch, and it was no problem for the kitchen. Their Indian food, pakora starter and curry main, is outstanding. My beer battered fish was huge, and would have given the best Whitby restaurants a run for their money. As ever, a good meal at a fair price.

Victoria Restaurant is well worth a visit, situated in a tiny village in Aberdeenshire you couldn't wish for a better local restaurant or a 'find' if you were just travelling through. I use it a lot for all sorts of occassions, including recommending it for guests coming to my self catering cottages

The Victoria looks like a quaint country cottage from the outside, but, inside, is a smartly furnished, comfortable restaurant. The menu is sensibly short, but with something for everyone, and the food is well prepared and presented. This is the kind of restaurant where you know you will always get a good meal at a fair price, and the service is both friendly and efficient.

We have visiited this restaurant over many years and the present management has maintained the high standards that we have come to associate with this establishment. The present suggestion of theatrical ambience is unusual for the area but is interesting. The location makes it a convenient and popular place to stop in the tourist season for a drink, a snack or a proper meal. Above all you feel welcome, sure of good food and an attentiive friendly relationshiop.
