Diner Reviews
  • "I booked the restaurant initially for 10 people and over the following weeks increased to 12 (including a young child and a baby) without any problems at all. I had birthday cakes and flowers delivered prior to the party and they dressed the table accordingly. Excellent service, no interruptions half way through the meal asking 'is everything okay?' like some establishments do. Food served together, excellent wine service, keeping drinks topped up without prompting. Friendly staff who know what they are doing. My only criticism and it is a very petty one, is the acoustics in the room are somewhat echoed, a carefully placed screen or panel would remove this - told you it was petty!!! Definitely will book again, thank you."

  • "Better to eat here once and pay a hefty price, rather than eating twice at other local restaurants where the food is less expensive but nowhere near as good."

  • "The food was just lovely!! The Duck salad is a perfect combination of very crispy duck and the sweet crunch of pomegranate! The Halibut was devine with a lovely compliment of green vegetable in a lovely creamy sauce. The staff were attentive and discreet. The Sancerre went down just too well that was my only critisism!!! :-) A lovely night, great food and wine helped along by great company in a lovely atmosphere."

  • "This was the first time we'd visited The Westwood and thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. However, the fact that they had squeezed in so many tables led to a lack of ambience and atmosphere, which was not ideal for a romantic meal for two. For this reason, I doubt we will return unless part of a larger party. Will be remaining with our firm favourite, The Pipe & Glass in future."

  • "We had a really lovely night at the Westwood Restaurant. It was my husband's birthday and we both fully enjoyed the whole experience. It was our first visit but it will not be our last."

  • "To celebrate our 26th anniversary we decided to celebrate the occasion locally. We booked an early evening meal and was the first in the restaurant . After being greeted , we had a drink at the bar. We ordered and shortly after we're set escorted to our table. The three courses were excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Westwood for any occasion."

  • "We were on a short break visiting Beverley - a fascinating town in itself - and our stay culminated in a delicious evening meal at The Westwood. Charming people, lovely setting and wonderful food. A great pleasure to have found this restaurant."

  • "Excellent if pricey meal. My sona and I shared the 1kg Porterhouse, which was perfectly medium rare, and slices thickly then reassembled on the bone for a faultless presentation. Excellent attentive service without becoming intrusive. Great style, and not quite so self-impressed as the Pipe and Glass has become (although the P&G is a different gastronomic experience.)"

  • "This was my fifth time at the Westwood and as always I was not disappointed! I took my mum for an early Mother's Day meal, choosing from the market menu-great value and amazing quality. We're going back for my birthday and for a post wedding meal in July!"

  • "I went to the Westwood Restaurant on Sunday 23rd March with my wife and 6 month-old. The waiters were smart, attentive and polite. We ordered scallops and risotto for starters, both of which were excellent and scallops cooked perfectly. The Sunday roast was excellent, the beef tender and cooked exactly how we like it. You could tell the quality of the beef. The portion size of the roast was very good. We really enjoyed the Argentinian Malbec, which was one of the many wines on offer. We really enjoyed the ambience in the restuarant and felt at ease. Overall, a great dining experience, and we shall definitely go back. Seemed very accomodating to families with children. Definitely recommend."

  • "We had a super meal, celebrating my husband's birthday. The food was excellent and we selected a gorgeous bottle of wine! We had great service throughout the evening. We especially like the fact that the menu is not too extensive but is varied enough to suit all tastes, during local produce. We love The Westwood. We've eaten there several times and will most certainly be returning!"

  • "We have been to the Westwood on many occasions, it is our favourite eating place in Beverley. The consistently high level of service aligned with good food and the great atmosphere make us return again and again. On arrival we were made welcome and the service just flowed seamlessly. Another great visit, this time to celebrate 33 years of married life."

  • "Food full of flavor and at a high standard, nice cosy feel to the restaurant but also a great atmosphere. Definitely go again!"

  • "I would definitely recommend the Westwood. The food was excellent, the service was great, worth every penny. I have two critiques, I thought the menu was limited and not a great deal of choice for vegetarians. However, as a committed carnivore I had a fillet steak to die for and will be returning ( but without my veggie friends)."
    dined on 15/03/2014
  • "Ate here for wires birthday treat, table d'hôte menu had everything I wanted and was excellent value so suited me. Wife didn't fancy choice so had a la carte. Very well cooked and presented but not large servings which suited both of us. Quite busy for a Tues night which says they have it right."
    dined on 11/03/2014
  • "It was the first time we have eaten there and enjoyed the whole experience, from the attentive friendly staff to the last morsel on our plates!"
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "The Westwood is a lovely venue inside and out. The menu is a creative combination of delicious quality local food, complimented by a fine selection of wines. It was my partners first visit to the Westwood and he thoroughly enjoyed his meal of chorizo starter, followed by filet steak which is what he always judges a restaurant on. He was certainly not disappointed and then he rounded the evening off with creme brulee, which again he throroughly enjoyed. He is already planning his return."
    dined on 06/03/2014
  • "We had a great meal out for my wife's birthday. As she is gluten an dairy eating out can be a challenge, no such problem here. They had a gluten and dairy free menu waiting for her with plenty of choice."
    dined on 08/03/2014
  • "This was my first time here and I am suitably impressed, greeted by a lovely warm welcome, service was attentive and the food was superb. We'll definitely be back again!"
    dined on 08/03/2014
  • "This was the second time we have visited this Restaurant and it was equally as good as the first time we visited about 6 months ago. The food was excellent (seasonal, fresh and well cooked) and the service was pretty good. We have only had a light lunch on both occasions, so have only rated the food as very good, but am sure a full dinner or evening meal is likely to be outstanding (so look forward to trying some time). The staff are very friendly and attentive, so overall we had a really good experience and wholeheartedly recommend The Westwood."

  • "Warm welcome, good service, good food, easy parking. All round: a very pleasant experience."
    dined on 07/03/2014
  • "Had a lovely meal here, starter and main were served and were presented beautifully and tasted just as good as they looked The dessert, however, I had a cheese board which cost £8.95, when it arrived there was literally 2 slices of cheese and 6 oat crackers which had simply been taken out of the packet. I pointed out to the manager that I felt a bit aggrieved to pay 9 pounds for two slices of cheese, but he didn't offer a reduction, free drink or even an apology or an understanding of what I was trying to get across! I would return but I wouldn't have the cheeseboard! Shame as it's my favourite!!"
    dined on 02/03/2014
  • "We booked for Sunday lunch and the menu provided a good choice of mains. We chose the beef which was superb, cooked pink to perfection the knife went through it like butter and accompanied by a good selection of vegetable. We forewent starters to have deserts. Both the chocolate fondant and sticky toffee pudding were excellent. Service was attentive but not intrusive. In all, a superb Sunday lunch dining experience."
    dined on 02/03/2014
  • "We were both impressed with the decor and ambience of the place, right from the start we felt important to the staff and every whim was catered for. Both being fish lovers we were drawn to the selection of fish dishes for main courses which were beautifully presented and extremely tasty. We would definitely like to return, although we will need to save up! We would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the foodie pleasures of life, a real plus for a small market town like Beverley."

  • "We were welcomed by friendly hosts into a lovely reception area. The choice of food although not huge (and I don't see this as a negative) all sounded delicious and it was difficult to choose. We were both very pleased with our choices of the scallops follwed by the curried monkfish and the chicory a d blue cheese salad followed by the rib eye streak. What really makes the restaurant however are the staff who are both helpful, knowledgeable and very laid back at the same time. I really like the non pretentious feel of this place. We will definitely be back."
    dined on 27/02/2014
  • "It was an excellent meal and all well cooked however £23 for a bottle of house wine is ridiculous as is the 10% gratuity that they pop in the bottom of the bill, apart from that a lovely place to eat with superb surroundings"

  • "We went for valentines lunch, the food was amazing we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Warm and friendly atmosphere."

Our waiter was very attentive and saw to all our needs.he was also friendly . The meal itself was beautifully presented and exceptionally good value . We could only manage 2 courses ,it was outstanding value for the price. Would definitely recommend it and will certainly return in the future Thank you"
