Diner Reviews
  • "very disappointing , very much a tourist venue, the noise level so high could not talk menu very limited went for a special occasion and expected more"
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "Wonderful ambiance, the best service in London, great food and wine. The internal decor creates the most perfect setting. The internal design of tables around an arc allows for privacy at adjoining tables, if you ask. My favorite in London. Thanks to The Wolseley team."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "My daughter and I had never had high tea before and this was the best experience! We were visiting from the United States and chose The Wolseley because it was Fodor's recommendation. :0) We loved our waiter, the tea, scones, and sweets. It was perfect!"
    dined on 03/07/2014
  • "The food was as good as usual while the service was terrific throughout."
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "I HATE being seated next to the service table, and no, no where else to move...promptly the waiter smashed a bottle if tobacco on the floor, all over my Chanel shoes and up my leg. No one offered to help, no one asked if I was ok. No one offered me a glass of wine as an apology. Food was mediocre, not great, not awful. But no one asked if our meal was correct, no one asked if we'd require anything else, no one asked if we cared!. We were handed dessert menus, we put them down and went to the Ritz next door...."
    dined on 24/06/2014
  • "I booked the Wolseley as a birthday present for my wife, and we were really looking forward to it. We booked mainly for the location and ambience, and though this was good as expected, the other elements were disappointing. The food was the right side of passable, but no better. More upsettingly, the service was poor. The room is great and the atmosphere lively, but this doesn't make up for the other shortcomings. Not recommended."
    dined on 24/06/2014
  • "The waiters have an ego. I understand that the Wolsley is meant to be amazing, but the waiters tried their best to disprove me. The food is good, just not excellent and the decor has moved on from classic, instead it's tired."
    dined on 16/06/2014
  • "Considering how famous this place is and the name it has, it needs a little refinement. I must comment on the Roast, which I had on the Sunday and it was not up to par. The Simpson's does it 10x better. Issues included the fact that a) it was not served medium; b) I never got a steak knife, but had to cut with a regular knife and c) the Yorkshire Pudding was over-done, so by half-way in, it had hardened and very tough to cut. Improvements required here."
    dined on 15/06/2014
  • "My best friend and I went to the Wolseley to celebrate our 30th birthday. Staff were very professional, welcoming and likeable. Food was very good. I don't drink alcohol so ordered an apple juice but the host suggested mocktails to me. These were not on the menu but she was very accommodating and had one made for me. Very good service and a really nice experience post-theatre. I would definitely recommend the Wolseley and hope to dine there again."
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "I brought my ten year old and a few of her friends for afternoon tea to celebrate her birthday. The staff could not have been nicer. I was very impressed by the care they took of her and her friends as I watched from an adjacent table. Tea was great value for London as well."
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at The Wolseley, we have been many times and always find the service attentive, the food is excellent and we love the lively atmosphere. Would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "The Wolseley is a classic with exceptional customer friendly service by well trained staff in a beautiful space. Food and wines were excellent, particularly crab with avocado and sea bream"

  • "I'm a regular visitor here and love it. One of the best breakfast places in London."
    dined on 11/06/2014
  • "This Brasserie style establishment is truly a very good spot for continental fare. the food is tasty and the service impeccable . We enjoyed the desserts too."

  • "Had not been here for a couple of years - very pleasant early evening dinner. Staff were very helpful and attentive. "
    dined on 04/06/2014
  • "Incredible service, amazing food, fast, great coffee, great atmosphere, price for some chips, coffee, ice cream and water was about 12£ pp which overall is not too bad. "
    dined on 02/06/2014
  • "Fantastic buzzy atmosphere in beautiful surroundings. Went at 10 am after theatre and still busy. Food was great and we ordered 2 starters and 2 drinks. Bill came to £70. A great choice from snacks to full scale meal. The service was attentive and very friendly. Can't wait to go back. My favourite West End restaurant. "
    dined on 31/05/2014
  • "Although the interior of the restaurant is stunning, the standard and quality of food is pretty average for the price you have to pay (around £70 per person for 3 courses excluding drink easily). Service is good, but you only have 2 hour slot to finish your meal. "
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "I like the Wolseley because it produces reasonable food at reasonable prices in a lovely environment. The service is normally professional and efficient although on our last visit it took 20 mins to get a drink and 40 mins to order! To add insult to injury we were told that we had just enough time to have a quick dessert or coffee because the next guest booked on our table had not yet arrived! We paid our £400+ bill and left without coffee or dessert and feeling disgruntled. It wasn't out fault that the service was so slow!!"
    dined on 29/05/2014
  • "The Wolseley offered a high standard of quality food and service in an elegant setting in Central London"

  • "I've been living in London for many years and always wanted to try breakfast at The Wolseley so I was thrilled when I finally managed last weekend. It was a great experience and the menu was so extensive with fantastic options I highly recommend it for the choice of foods and the atmosphere. I will be coming back soon."
    dined on 24/05/2014
  • "But strange that wine glasses are same as water glasses and not as refined as the choice of wines."
    dined on 23/05/2014
  • "First time experience at The Wolseley and well worth it. Food was excellent throughout, service first class - better than some "fine dining" restaurants we have been to, and cost very reasonable. Lovely building, good location and great overall ambience. We will definitely return."
    dined on 23/05/2014
  • "Went for breakfast, guest of visiting overseas stockbroker. Service pretty good, but my smoked salmon with scrambled eggs was epic. Perfectly times scrambled eggs with plenty of SS."
    dined on 19/05/2014
  • "Brilliant service from our waiter who stayed with us for our entire stay. Food was excellent - good selection of cooked options, fruit, pastries, juices, teas and coffees. Beautiful decor. Perfect place for a special treat."
    dined on 18/05/2014
  • "Very good place for our first dinner here this time. Short walking distance from our hotel. Lively, bustling. Food good. Menu good. Service good, not overly solicitous or fawning. All tables seem to be good ones. We will be back."
    dined on 16/05/2014
  • "I had a booking for 3 made some weeks ago but ended up wanting another friend to join. I called a few days before the booking to be told that they couldn’t accommodate us and no other space was free – I found this a little surprising and decided to chance it and turn up anyway. Needless to say, we were warmly welcomed and adding a further setting was no trouble and done without any fuss at all. As always, the food was excellent. The Wolseley never fails to deliver what is promised – good food, good service, good choices and great ambience. As a venue to meet friends and relax over good food, this is amongst my favourite places."

  • "I have be coming to the restaurant for many years, mainly for tea with my Mother and everything had always been excellent, despite the food not being overly complex, this has always been redeemed by the wonderful setting and exceptional service. This particular evening was with friends, three of us having been several times and all of us quite stunned by the rather abrupt and for the most part absent waiter. We had to ask three times for our glasses to be filled and it was very obvious that the adjacent table, a trio of elegant Spanish ladies were also struggling to gain the waiter's attention several times and resorted to waving their dessert menus in the air. Disappointing. "

  • "I have been here a few times now and I this was not the best food I have had. Everything seemed rushed but will go back particularly for breakfast"
    dined on 13/05/2014
  • "Very good food. quite crowded and having booked for afternoon tea was surprised that lunch was still being served. However, tea was very good quality."
    dined on 11/05/2014
  • "Had excellent rib-eye steak, a cut of meat that I doubt I could find easily elsewhere. Uncomplicated food very well done in a wonderful, fun, art deco environment. Front of house highly professional. Unless you arrive late evening, be aware that the restaurant operates with a system of strict two-hour time slots."

  • "the interior of the main room is wonderful, but the noise level hurts. the service was good and also the food. it's very close to piccadilly. go there if you want eat in a central place at a good price. you must book in advance. "

  • "Took out of town friends here for lunch. Great experience. Fabulous steak. And good celeb spotting. Love this place. "
    dined on 03/05/2014
  • "Went with my mother for a light lunch and we had the chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich- very tasty! Very enjoyable experience- great spot for people watching."
    dined on 29/04/2014
  • "Pas déçue de ma réservation dans cet établissement, personnel attentionné et notre serveuse parlait français. Les sucreries et le the étaient à la hauteur de la réputation . Expérience à renouveler lors d'un prochain passage dans la capitale londonienne ."

  • "After many years in the entertainments biz I have never written a critic - I hope the owner wants a night of secret shopping- I want him to feel how I felt. The greeting at the table check in was blase -I felt not at home to start with and my booking was not ticked off for open Table. Stunning building. Waiter charming - had to ask 3 times for butter and only twice for some more bread and only twice for our bottle of water. We wanted to leave. La Potinière du Palais in Cannes, Cote in Hampstead or The Five Field in Chelsea we get service that makes you want to go back and back. . The next waiter who bought my wife her trout ( she's no trout lol) dumped the food - wife was asking a question he had already walked off. - I say no more "

  • "I love the Wolsey, a little bit of grandeur, spectacle, great service, and they really look after you. Because I'd booked in the afternoon tea time frame, and have food allergies that I noted on my booking, they arranged for a tea selection of gluten and dairy free scones, cakes, sorbets and fruit, just in case I wanted to have tea. I thought it a wonderful touch. We enjoyed a wonderful pre=theatre meal here."
