A word from Theo Randall at the InterContinental
Theo Randall at the InterContinental has been firmly established on the London dining scene since opening in 2006. Acclaimed Chef Theo Randall (former partner at the River Café) creates award-winning rustic Italian dishes with the very best seasonal ingredients that continue to attract rave reviews. The restaurant is proudly informal and unpretentious, with back-to-basics menu highlights including handmade pasta and wood roasted meat and fish, which in Theo's words is, "A million miles away from the complicated fancy fare you would normally expect to eat in Park Lane". Since its launch, Theo Randall at the InterContinental has won numerous awards including Best Italian Restaurant of The Year from the London Restaurant Awards, Best Italian/ Mediterranean over £50 in Harden’s 2013, and the highest ranked Italian on the Sunday Times Food List 2013.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I am adding this to my list of favourites in London. Food was amazing and service great. Lovely room and ambience. I really wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was, but we really loved it. "

  • "We're so often disappointed with upscale restaurants serving tweezer food and charging north of £60 per head. This is hearty Italian cooking served in a lovely warm and relaxed environment by really pleasant waiting staff. The set meal is super value for the Park Lane location and we'll go back again - no question."

  • "I had dinner at Theo Randall with my partner and my friend to celebrate my birthday. we had a wonderful evening. I can't fault the restaurant for anything. "

  • "I had a friend visiting from Scotland for Easter and we like to treat ourselves when she's down, so we knew a while ago that we were going to choose Theo's restaurant as it was on the foodie bucket list. I was a little worries as I don't eat fish or shellfish, but there was certainly plenty of choice. I choose the longhorn steak and went with the med rare recommendation. I thought it might be too rare for me, but it was absolutely lovely. The menu was split into a 2 or 3 course set menu at a very reasonable £27/£33 or a tasting menu at £65. All the front of house staff were exceptionally pleasant and always on hand if we had a problem. I would most definitely recommend this restaurant to ...everyone!"

  • "Had a wonderful dinner at Theo Randall not for the first time however this time although the food and the choice was as good as ever and the value amzing we chose the set menu which has many options but the evening was enhansed by Theo Randall coming into the restaurant in his chefs whites and chatting to many of the diners. How unusual to find the chef actually cooking in the establishment and what a charming and lovely man he is."

  • "Great ambience, food delicious, service a little slow but it was a full house so can be overlooked! Overall a great night & would recommend."

  • "We had an excellent fine dining experience with good honest ingredients. Excellent Italian cooking. Very happy with wine recommendations. Friendly efficient service."

  • "Consistently great food at this lovely restaurant which has a great atmosphere"

  • "Really the most impressive thing here was how attentive and on the ball the staff were - from the coat-check girl ,to the barman to the waitress , all excellent . Also very glad to see most impressive vegetarian menu with loads of imaginative choice - well done ! Food was good but not the best Italian I've tasted , my daughter didn't much like the soup , and the vegetables ( boiled cabbage and lentil) accompanying my calves liver were not nice . Overall a good experience though ."

  • "Had dinner last Saturday (5/4/14). Table of 4 . Excellent from start to finish. Food was superb. Extensive wine list with some reasonably priced wines. Service was warm and efficient. Would recommend"

  • "Booked on the strength of their set menu on the website, ahead of a trip to the theatre. In the end 2 of us ate off the set menu and 2 of us off the a la carte. First of all the choice is overwhelming. Once we'd overcome that, the pasta & risotto starters were absolutely delicious. The antipasti to share was tasty, but as it was for sharing it would have been nice if they have sliced the mozarella before serving it. all 4 main courses (2 pasta and 2 salmon) were huge, and in the end we shared 2 desserts between the 4 of us which were both delicious and tasty. We managed to find a reasonably priced Italian wine off the menu. Next time we would try and eat a little later, as the restaurant wasn't busy and ambience not great !"

  • "This is an excellent restaurant. I have visited on numerous occasions and always enjoy a fantastic experience. The food is tremendous and the TT set menu offer is very good. The service is friendly and professional. Particular highlights are always when Theo Randall walks the restaurant floor. Also the friendly support and recommendation of the very knowledgeable sommelier. This always enhances the dining experience. Looking forward to my next visit!"

  • "been several times before and was always excellent, but service was slow and mashed potato had lumps in it, would go again as must have been a bad night. The risotto is still amazing!"
    dined on 19/12/2013
  • "We booked for the £27 deal, but on seeing the reduced set menu decided to eat a la carte. The food was of acceptable quality, but you do pay top money for it. I had the scallops starter at £19, which was pleasant but not outstanding, a little under-seasoned. For main, the Veal Chop at £38, generally ok, but not exceptional. You have to pay extra for sides, which seems overly tight, when the mains are that expensive. Total bill for 2 with wine was £280. Service was slow and not that attentive, especially given the restaurant was half full. Overall, food ok, service poor, and for the money you could eat much better in London. I can see why they are having to offer deals on a Saturday night."
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "I've dined at Theo Randall four times now and not once have I, or my fellow diners, been disappointed in our meals. The portions are very generous for the type of (fancy) restaurant it is."
    dined on 26/03/2014
  • "Have been to this restaurant a number of times, and have always found it to be excellent. This time, however, it wasn't so good. Lots of staff milling around, but it took a long time for our order to be taken. Staff were unaware that this was a toptable booking, and we were charged the full amount - this was later rectified. Would advise diners to ensure that the booking has been recorded as a toptable booking upon arrival. The food was excellent - pity about the front of house staff."
    dined on 21/03/2014
  • "I heard Theo's was good but it surpassed my expectations. We opted for the taster menu and accompanying wine selection. I was going to mention to the waiter that there are three foods I absolutely will not eat but decided not to as what are the chances of getting one of them. I got all three throughout the 5 courses and i ate them all with gusto. The food is simply amazing and the wines were perfect."
    dined on 15/03/2014
  • "As always the menu du jour is good value with complementary bruschetta and ciabatta to start. Wines quite expensive-expect £40/bottle at lower end of list. In summary, quality food and difficult to eat more than two courses unless very hungry.."
    dined on 12/02/2014
  • "The table d'hote is good value with a glass of prosecco. Some bruschetta and ciabatta to start and we could eat only two courses each both well cooked. Good decor and ambiance. Hotel surroundings are impressively comfortable with a lovely bar nearby."
    dined on 30/01/2014
  • "Theo Randall at the Intercontinental provides fabulous Italian fare, at reasonable prices. The Focaccia is probably the best bread I have ever eaten and the lemon tart is that wonderful balance of sweet and tart! Love it!"
    dined on 08/11/2013
  • "Great set menu, lots of choice. My starter of smoked eel was exceptional, my friends starter of seafood risotto was also very good. The restaurant was quiet but we were there early. Have been before and will return."
    dined on 19/02/2014
  • "As soon as we got there all the staff were attentive and very helpful, any question we had about the food they had the answer for, also the food was fantastic better than a couple of Michelin star restaurants I have been to (pidgin was fantastic), not to forget the portions were big compared to most and at the end the man him self (Theo Randall) came over and started talking to us, so a very good evening at the Intercontinental and the price wasn't as bad as I was expecting, don't get me wrong not cheap but reasonable compared to some up London."
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "We booked the toptable set menu and the food, service and experience we got for that price was amazing. We will definitely be back"
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "Tried the Theo Radall adter many receommnedations and while the food is nice - the service is just atrocious. It seemed that they are doing a favor when you have to ask for anything and on top of that it is not priompt. There are a host of ther good and better value places near by in Green Park - the hilton, le meridien etc that you can go to. very dissapointed !"
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "I booked Theo Randalls for dinner, to celebrate my husband's birthday. The restaurant was informed of this at the point of booking. On arrival he was greeted with birthday wishes and this was extended by the serving staff. The menu offered an wonderful choice and we were not disappointed by the dishes we selected. The food was possibly the best meal we had had in a long time. The service through out the evening was excellant, very attentive. Would recommend without hesitation."
    dined on 26/02/2014
  • "Not my first time, liked it yet again, food is superb! Service attentive, and with all free extras and generous portion sizes; we were pleasantly full! Will come back."
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "It's rare that we dine at the same restaurant more than once but as we had enjoyed it so much last time we returned. We weren't disappointed and the service and food were as we remembered. The food is of very high quality and the portion sizes are excellent. Service was charming and our waitress was pleasant and fun at all times making it a very relaxed occasion - no stuffiness here. We were dining early in the evening so perhaps that makes a difference?? Wines were quite good value and I would say that the only disappointment was the price of the coffees to end the meal. At about £4.50 for one small coffee we thought that was a bit too much. Otherwise I would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "We had a mid-week dinner recently at Theo Randall and everything about the experience was superb, from the welcome received at the door to the thoughtful bag of chocolate bonbons that we received as we left our table. The food was generously portioned, tasty, fresh and hot. Just what was needed on a chilly night. The bread and crostini was delicious, and the service was very friendly and not obtrusive. Definitely worth going to if you're in that part of London and tired of indifferent food served by grouchy staff. The setting is classy, and being our first visit there, we were surprised at how spacious the dining area is. We'll definitely visit again."

  • "Great dinner, super friendly service, can't wait to go back."
    dined on 18/02/2014
  • "I had wanted to visit here for a while, and am glad I did so in the winter months as the actual restaurant is within a large, very corporate hotel, and as such the environment was extremely sterile and soulless, which is a shame as the food and service was wonderful. Food was expensive, but delicious and the staff couldn't have been more helpful in offering me a vegan menu which meant I didn't have an uncomfortable conversation about what I could and could not eat. My boyfriend loved his more carnivorous meal, and there was plenty of choice on all menus provided. Service was perfect - helpful, attentive, professional and friendly. Great wine list, but very expensive too. Would definitely return and recommend it to true Italian foodies."
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "The dinner at Theo Randall was great. The food was very good quality, very authentic, interesting and I very much enjoyed it. I took advantage of an offer - £27 for 2 courses which I thought was fantastic value. Only slight issue was service being very slow."
    dined on 13/02/2014
  • "Efficient welcome, slightly haphazard service. We had to choose the wine before ordering the food, the bottle arrived before our aperitifs did, but then they did take about 25 minutes to get to us. Food, very good. Pasta was rich but light, the crab salad was delicate in flavour and the calves' liver main course was very generous and cooked perfectly. Nice décor, but the tables can be quite close, so you take part in other diners' conversations, whether you want to or not. It's not cheap, but the quality of the food is what you pay for."
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "On a very wet Friday, we arrived 20 minutes early for our lunch booking. We were looked after very well and we enjoyed the offer for the day. The head waitress was charming and she made our day. Thank you for that."
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "Fabulous food, quite exceptional sourcing of very fine ingredients and sound techniques. Good wine list with reasonable mark ups. Perhaps a little lacking in atmosphere, the big, cavernous hotel dining room dosen't help, but thats the only drawback. Probably the best Italian food in London in my view."
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "I took my partner & our child of 6 months to Theo's for lunch on Valentines day & overall the complete experience was fantastic. We took advantage of their three course special offer & all of the dishes we chose were delicious."
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "My wife and I went to Theo Randall at the Intercontinental and had high expectations after reading the favourable reviews. I must say our expectations were meet and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The 3-Course set menu was great value for money and the portions are very generous. We actually had all ; 4-courses and thought we were going to have to be rolled out of the venue as pur bellies were so full. We had the fennel salami & Eels for antipasti, the risotto and the pasta, followed by the Guinea Fowl and the Lamb for main. We finished off with the sharing platter for desert. The service was attentive but friendly which was nice and the place was buzzy being the day before Valentines. We will defintely return!"
    dined on 13/02/2014
  • "Dining here does feel like an occasion. A smart hotel, excellent service and crisp table clothes. In addition, the two course plus desert platter deal is excellent value. The only downsides being the slightly bland decor and the fish main course being slightly small / not particularly innovative"
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "Excellent quality food on the toptable set menu Theo Randall himself came over to most tables to check on diners which was a nice touch, and we were also given a free plate of dessert, combining each of the options from the set menu which again was a pleasant surprise. Service was competent and friendly and the sommelier was helpful and did not put us under pressure to spend huge amounts on wine (a quite expensive list). Overall, a great experience and would definitely go again."

  • "Food is not as good as it was before but good service stoll"
    dined on 07/02/2014
  • "This is by far the best deal I have ever had from Toptable. The two courses were more like 4, the staff were wonderful and Theo Randall himself came out to say hello and gave us a tour of the kitchen, simply because we asked. This really was a perfect evening and we cannot wait to go again."
