This place really lacks atmosphere and for a top london hotel it really isn't acceptable. The decor is fairly outdated and the Muzak didn't help. It was a totally different atmosphere from the bar down the corridor, clearly the regulars know where to go! The food was ok but the menu was pretty limited and the taste average which considering the price isn't really on.

There are so many wonderful restaurants in London. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived at 7 pm and that should have been a clue. The food was tasty but not at the associated cost. The wait staff was inexperienced and not properly trained. It was our only disappointing meal while visiting London.

We had a girlie lunch here and we all agreed it was a really good choice. The location is great and the hotel in an idylic cul de sac. The pre Iunch champagne in the beautiful lounge was so relaxing and special. We all enjoyed different things on the set menu which was all lovely fine dining. And lastly the restaurant was comfortably full so a good ambience. We would all return.

Food and atmosphere reflect the above-mentioned description. The menu was scarse and not fully promising in the description. The guests who ate the meat - rib eye - were not pleased with its quality and cooking. The service was not brilliant. Location and ambience were very pleasant and comfortable.

We dined on Saturday evening. Dining room was quiet and 3/4 full. We went for the tasting menu with suggested wine glasses per course which seemed great value at just over £100 each. Dishes were small but very fresh and tasty. The wine was just ok. Service was smooth and attentive and overall we enjoyed the experience.

Wonderful food with friendly service. As well as our 2 courses there was a little surprise curried potato and apple soup with the most delicious brown and white home made breads. We took the coffee in the lovely lounge next for with macaroons. Great eating place away from the busy London streets yet very central.

Lunch time offers a very small menu. If you don't like skate, rabbit or a vegetarian alternative (although this changes regularly), then you would have a problem. As it happens I love rabbit and skate and both were cooked beautifully and tasted fantastic! Starters were similarly restricted to a a choice of 3. Again excellent quality and flavour.

This restaurant is situated in a beautiful little corner of Mayfair. I took my mother as a birthday present and we were given the choice of deciding where to sit. The service was impeccable and throughout the meal we were given extra mini courses to enhance the experience such as cream cheese and truffle puff pastries, spicy popcorn, and cucumber sorbet with hibiscus. The food was beautiful (special recommendation to have the crab starter and roasted apricot desert). Overall I completely recommend this restaurant.

I took my wife here for a birthday meal and had a lovely evening. The restaurant was very quiet on the day we went but the atmosphere is very calm and the staff are really friendly. The food is the outstanding element though - beautiful dishes, wonderful ingredients and all brilliantly cooked. We even asked for a chocolate dessert not on the menu and the chef came up trumps!

The service is outstandingly charming and friendly, in what is at first sight a rather formal setting. The food on the set lunch menu was also above expectations - a thick piece of skate, filleted off the wing, was beautifully cooked. We passed on dessert but the raspberry filled chocolate macarons served with my choice from the 20 leaf teas were delicious and light, which suggests a skilful hand with the dessert end of the menu. A set lunch menu which includes coffee or tea and petit fours struck me as a very good variation on the more usual offering of a glass of wine, particularly for occasions when one doesn't wish to drink wine at lunchtime. Good value for the area.

Every time I go to Thirty Six I am struck by two questions... 1) How has this not got a Michelin star? and 2) Have I got space for dessert? The staff here are fantastic, attaining the right level of attention without being overbearing. And the food... Always excellent, and always something quirky. For example - celery sorbet on goats cheese (delicious). The tastiest risotto I have ever had (and as a veggie I've suffered many a risotto dish). OpenTable asks: Would you recommend Thirty Six by Nigel Mendham at DUKES LONDON to a friend? The answer to this is yes. In fact, I would recommend it to anybody who appreciates quality food. (And sadly no space for dessert - the first two courses were just too good!)

Started the evening in the Dukes Bar for a cocktail, in the lovely Dukes Hotel. Restaurant is downstairs and quite small, but nicely decorated. Only 5 tables used during the whole evening, which is not good for a Saturday! The ambience was quiet and flat due to the lack of diners. We had the tasting menu, with wines. All the food was very good and well presented. The crab starter and pork terrine course were lovely and I particularly liked the Turbot. Wines were also a good match to each course The service was friendly and knowledgeable, although they forgot to change my wife's cheese course, as requested, so we had a long wait while they rectified that. All in all, we would go back for the food alone. Shame it was so quiet!

We went there on a weekday evening and we were the only diners in there. That was fine as we felt like we had the whole space to ourselves. Every dish was delicately presented and truly delicious. Especially my main course, the lamb had the best taste ever, with extreme tenderness. The complimentary petits fours at the end was lovely.

As with previous reviews, I really cannot understand why this restaurant is not fully booked all the time! We had the place to ourselves up to the point of leaving which was 8pm on a Friday, I've been telling everyone I know how great this experience was as I really don't want this place to fail, I want to go again and soon. As for the food, it was exceptional, with all of the extras one would expect from top end dining. I had booked the 3 course deal for £48 and did not expect such luxury. I took my teenage daughter and we both thoroughly enjoyed the food and the sense of occasion the quality and the service inspired. We were treated exceptionally well and I cannot praise this restaurant enough.

Very attentive but discreet service made this a meal to remember. The food is very good, the TT 3 course offer is good and the wine list is possible to call sensible compared to some other restaurants - not too extensive and a whole page of wines which cost about the same as a single menu......

Lovely intimate restaurant attached to Dukes Hotel, which I enjoyed over a leisurely lunch with some friends. Great, secluded location, which means that it is not too many walk-ins and tourists. I love trying chef restaurants, and had never heard about 36 until recently. The restaurant is literally hidden inside of the hotel Dukes London. Upon dining there I found out it used to be a guest-only restaurant, and that sometime ago they opened to the public. A friend and I were pleasantly surprised with their £48 3-course dinner w/Prosseco special offer. Service, food, and presentation were all very good!

The restaurant is hidden away downstairs in a hotel that is hidden away in the back streets of St James. Presumably this is the reason it is quiet as the food and service are both excellent and compare well with other restaurants in the area. The extras turn a 3 course menu into something more special. The a la carte menu is quite short, something I find reassuring, especially in a small restaurant. We found all the dishes we had lovely, well prepared with excellent ingredients. The apple desert was a particular highlight. Certainly we will look to return.

This was fabulous, Friday lunch slightly spoilt by the table next door who had their i-pad continually playing peppa pig for their young son who was not even watching it. I was surprised that this was allowed as I would never put something so loud on for my children in any restaurant let alone one that is so stylish and elegant, it is a grown up location, not a "family restaurant' but I think the staff did not really know what to do. However the food and service were wonderful and the £25 menu for two courses and coffee excellent value. A hidden gem.
