  • "this was a great dining experience for my husband's 60th birthday"
    dined on 12/09/2014
  • "Came here to celebrate a friends 30th and it topped off a wonderful weekend. Delicious food, friendly staff and great ambience. Thank you."
    dined on 06/09/2014
  • "This restaurant is situated in a beautiful little corner of Mayfair. I took my mother as a birthday present and we were given the choice of deciding where to sit. The service was impeccable and throughout the meal we were given extra mini courses to enhance the experience such as cream cheese and truffle puff pastries, spicy popcorn, and cucumber sorbet with hibiscus. The food was beautiful (special recommendation to have the crab starter and roasted apricot desert). Overall I completely recommend this restaurant."

  • "We ate here when staying over in London recently. The food and service were outstanding and we will definitely return when we're next back in London."
    dined on 16/08/2014
  • "Having had the pleasure of eating in many Michelin star restaurants, the food in ThirtySix was every bit as well prepared, presented and served. Beautiful flavour combinations and textures. A wonderful dinner. Extraordinary value for this level quality and style of food."
    dined on 15/08/2014
  • "A lovely dining experience tucked away near Green Park. Good atmosphere, good service, good food."
    dined on 13/08/2014
  • "This is not the first time we have eaten at 36 nor will it be the last. The food is superb as is the service and represents genuine value for money. Really deserves to be busier at lunch times."
    dined on 12/08/2014
  • "Came to Thirty Six for my partners birthday. Food was perfect, usual surprises of amuse bouche etc from chef and friendly waiting staff. I can't rate this highly enough - just go!"
    dined on 09/08/2014
  • "I took my wife here for a birthday meal and had a lovely evening. The restaurant was very quiet on the day we went but the atmosphere is very calm and the staff are really friendly. The food is the outstanding element though - beautiful dishes, wonderful ingredients and all brilliantly cooked. We even asked for a chocolate dessert not on the menu and the chef came up trumps!"
    dined on 06/08/2014
  • "place was quiet at lunch but that suited me as we got very good service food was delicious good portions superbly presented a lovely experience"
    dined on 05/08/2014
  • "The service is outstandingly charming and friendly, in what is at first sight a rather formal setting. The food on the set lunch menu was also above expectations - a thick piece of skate, filleted off the wing, was beautifully cooked. We passed on dessert but the raspberry filled chocolate macarons served with my choice from the 20 leaf teas were delicious and light, which suggests a skilful hand with the dessert end of the menu. A set lunch menu which includes coffee or tea and petit fours struck me as a very good variation on the more usual offering of a glass of wine, particularly for occasions when one doesn't wish to drink wine at lunchtime. Good value for the area."
    dined on 31/07/2014
  • "Had a very enjoyable meal here for my husbands birthday. Food was very good, although not a huge selection. The staff were excellent, friendly and professional."
    dined on 25/07/2014
  • "Every time I go to Thirty Six I am struck by two questions... 1) How has this not got a Michelin star? and 2) Have I got space for dessert? The staff here are fantastic, attaining the right level of attention without being overbearing. And the food... Always excellent, and always something quirky. For example - celery sorbet on goats cheese (delicious). The tastiest risotto I have ever had (and as a veggie I've suffered many a risotto dish). OpenTable asks: Would you recommend Thirty Six by Nigel Mendham at DUKES LONDON to a friend? The answer to this is yes. In fact, I would recommend it to anybody who appreciates quality food. (And sadly no space for dessert - the first two courses were just too good!)"

  • "Started the evening in the Dukes Bar for a cocktail, in the lovely Dukes Hotel. Restaurant is downstairs and quite small, but nicely decorated. Only 5 tables used during the whole evening, which is not good for a Saturday! The ambience was quiet and flat due to the lack of diners. We had the tasting menu, with wines. All the food was very good and well presented. The crab starter and pork terrine course were lovely and I particularly liked the Turbot. Wines were also a good match to each course The service was friendly and knowledgeable, although they forgot to change my wife's cheese course, as requested, so we had a long wait while they rectified that. All in all, we would go back for the food alone. Shame it was so quiet!"
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "Great little venue, tucked away from the St James area, good food and polite but unobtrusive service. Restaurant quite busy, but peaceful enough for a business converstaion."
    dined on 03/07/2014
  • "My husband and I dined here recently and we so impressed by the food and service that we took my parents there at the weekend for a special occasion. The food is lovely - well thought out dishes that are well executed. The cheese board is excellent. Service is very good. I would defintely return and also recommend to others."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "The restaurant is in the basement, and is small. The food is good but not exceptional. The service was attentive but it took our waiter a while to ask about and then return with our pre-dinner drinks."
    dined on 13/06/2014
  • "A nice place tucked out of the way but handy for all sorts of places. Good food, nicely presented. A limited set menu but this still presented enough choice for two of us."
    dined on 10/06/2014
  • "Lunch at 36 comprised excellent food for two omnivores and two veggies. Loved the experience and the care we received. An excellent middle-of-the-day gastronomic entertainment."
    dined on 10/06/2014
  • "We went there on a weekday evening and we were the only diners in there. That was fine as we felt like we had the whole space to ourselves. Every dish was delicately presented and truly delicious. Especially my main course, the lamb had the best taste ever, with extreme tenderness. The complimentary petits fours at the end was lovely."
    dined on 09/06/2014
  • "Over salty foods and slow service, we had to wait for over 20 minutes until someone came to us when the room is half empty. The scallops were slightly over cooked as well as the lamb."
    dined on 06/06/2014
  • "Every bit as good as last time. An undiscovered gem."
    dined on 05/06/2014
  • "Perfect in each and every way, I did not want todo a recommendation just in case i could not get in for the amount of people that should give this a try."
    dined on 31/05/2014
  • "As with previous reviews, I really cannot understand why this restaurant is not fully booked all the time! We had the place to ourselves up to the point of leaving which was 8pm on a Friday, I've been telling everyone I know how great this experience was as I really don't want this place to fail, I want to go again and soon. As for the food, it was exceptional, with all of the extras one would expect from top end dining. I had booked the 3 course deal for £48 and did not expect such luxury. I took my teenage daughter and we both thoroughly enjoyed the food and the sense of occasion the quality and the service inspired. We were treated exceptionally well and I cannot praise this restaurant enough."
    dined on 23/05/2014
  • "This was a special day for both myself and my daughter. I booked this restaurant as it a was very close to St James Palace. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a late lunch because of a long journey to London and were the only ones in the restaurant so we had exceptional service The whole visit to DUKES enhanced our day."
    dined on 20/05/2014
  • "A beautiful hotel in the heart of London a gem not to be missed the food was outstanding "
    dined on 13/05/2014
  • "Very attentive but discreet service made this a meal to remember. The food is very good, the TT 3 course offer is good and the wine list is possible to call sensible compared to some other restaurants - not too extensive and a whole page of wines which cost about the same as a single menu......"
    dined on 10/05/2014
  • "Lovely intimate restaurant attached to Dukes Hotel, which I enjoyed over a leisurely lunch with some friends. Great, secluded location, which means that it is not too many walk-ins and tourists. The meal was elegant, tasteful and beautifully presented. Service was prompt and efficient. Small number of options on the 'deal menu' but adequate selection for all at our table. "
    dined on 10/05/2014
  • "I had lunch with 2 friends. We all thought that it was excellent and were astonished that we were the only people eating in the restaurant. This place deserves much more! One of my friends has already posted a review on Trip Advisor giving 5 stars he was so impressed."
    dined on 09/05/2014
  • "I love trying chef restaurants, and had never heard about 36 until recently. The restaurant is literally hidden inside of the hotel Dukes London. Upon dining there I found out it used to be a guest-only restaurant, and that sometime ago they opened to the public. A friend and I were pleasantly surprised with their £48 3-course dinner w/Prosseco special offer. Service, food, and presentation were all very good! "
    dined on 08/05/2014
  • "The service was immaculate, the food divine, simply divine. This hidden treasure will not be kept secret for long."
    dined on 08/05/2014
  • "The restaurant is hidden away downstairs in a hotel that is hidden away in the back streets of St James. Presumably this is the reason it is quiet as the food and service are both excellent and compare well with other restaurants in the area. The extras turn a 3 course menu into something more special. The a la carte menu is quite short, something I find reassuring, especially in a small restaurant. We found all the dishes we had lovely, well prepared with excellent ingredients. The apple desert was a particular highlight. Certainly we will look to return."
    dined on 19/04/2014
  • "This was fabulous, Friday lunch slightly spoilt by the table next door who had their i-pad continually playing peppa pig for their young son who was not even watching it. I was surprised that this was allowed as I would never put something so loud on for my children in any restaurant let alone one that is so stylish and elegant, it is a grown up location, not a "family restaurant' but I think the staff did not really know what to do. However the food and service were wonderful and the £25 menu for two courses and coffee excellent value. A hidden gem."
    dined on 18/04/2014
  • "5 friends and myself had a lovely dinner on a weekday evening to celebrate a birthday. The food from a broad ranging menu was quite outstanding in creativity, taste and presentation and as a great bonus we paid only £48 each for 3 courses and a glass of Prosecco on arrival. On top of that, an amuse bouche, a sorbet AND petite fours came free! Wine from £18 a bottle. There were few other diners but we didn't care. We were there to talk to each other and didn't need company. The service was impeccable - relaxed, graceful and informative. On the basis of our experience, we all thought the place should be packed! We'll be back..."
    dined on 01/04/2014
  • "We are very happy to recommend this restaurant to our friends. The menu was rather small but well balanced for choice. They were not only delicious but visually beautiful!"
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "We wanted somewhere quiet, peaceful, elegant, and has a good chef, to meet up with an old friend, and it was perfect on all counts! This lovely located Hotel in a small courtyard near St James' Palace could not be faulted. From the friendly atmosphere and staff in the Hotel, to the amazingly attentive Maître 'D in the restaurant the service was exemplary, and only exceeded by the exquisite food prepared by a Michelin Starred chef. Yes it's quite expensive, but worth every penny and every minute spent in the luxury of the restaurant. I cannot wait to find an excuse to return."
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "Excellent 3 course meal with pre course parts added in. Its the equivalent of a michelin star meal!"
    dined on 21/03/2014
  • "Dined at lunch time. The restaurant was quiet but not without atmosphere. The staff were attentive and friendly and service was paced just right. We thought the price was very good considering the location and the quality of the food. The portion size was on the small side but suited us perfectly and the meal ended with a huge pot of coffee and home made sweets all included. We would definitely eat here again."
    dined on 19/03/2014
  • "Five of us met in London for a reunion, some coming up from Bath, and deepest Suffolk, others from the home counties. We trained together as therapists 40 years ago and have kept in touch after 21 years gap in some instances. It was a marvellous occasion. The restaurant is wonderful. The service was fanttastic-helpful but not intrusive and the staff melted away and left us to talk on undisturbed which we really, really appreciated. Their sensitivity, politeness and helpfulness must be commended. Add to this the beautiful surroundings and the wonderful, top quality food, beautifully presented, and we were really spoilt. Thank you to ALL who made it a wonderful experience. There was a general vote at the end to repeat the occasion if we could!"
