A word from Trinity
Trinity is a neighbourhood restaurant situated in the heart of Clapham Old Town.
Opened in 2006 by Chef Adam Byatt, the restaurant quickly established itself as a popular local restaurant pairing imaginative, accessible food and well sourced reasonably priced wines with knowledgeable and caring hospitality, relaxed and sophisticated surroundings and exceptional value.
A critical success from the outset, the restaurant garnered 3 AA rosettes and The AA Restaurant of the Year Award 2008/2009 and Best Local Restaurant from Time Out Magazine 2007/2008.
Trinity actively engages and supports our community using where possible local suppliers for crockery, flowers, meat and fish, assisting in the Trinity Church Summer Fete and Adam’s participation in the Academy of Culinary Arts “Adopt a School” Programme.

Diner Reviews
  • "Have been to Trinity a number of times over the years and it never fails to impress. It's small enough to feel intimate but still offers up a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and ultimately a fantastic dining experience. The food is beautifully cooked, extremely inventive and immaculately presented. The staff are friendly and attentive but discreet and always willing to help with wine matching from a very broad cellar. Perfect for special occasions or just treating yourself to food as it should be cooked!"

  • "The food was fine however left hungry after tasting menu. Matching wines were disappointing. Service was attentive. Disappointed after hearing great reviews"

  • "Have been wanting to visit for a long time and it really did live up to expectations. Pigs trotters to die for, and amazing sea bream. Adam and his team are just brilliant."

  • "I took my husband here for his birthday. We chose the tasting menu and, although it was great in places, it was a little variable. The chilled pea soup was the star of the show: rich and refreshing by equal measure. The poached oysters were also fabulous but the bones made the plaice almost impossible to enjoy and the quail was just disappointing (although I can't quite put my finger on why). The staff were well drilled in the detail of our flight of wines and were very accommodating of my dislike of red but, like the service generally, their explanations were a bit rushed. I can see why this place hasn't got a Michelin star yet but it can't be far off. I would definitely come back again - this time a la carte!"

  • "Absolutely fantastic from the moment we walked in til the moment we left, could not have been better looked after and the food was simply stunning. Go, I guarantee you will not be disappointed"

  • "We had an excellent value set lunch at Trinity - limited choice but the quality of the food is outstanding. How this place has not achieved a Michelin star yet is beyond me, but at least that means we can generally get in when we want !"

  • "My partner and I were very happy to be seated in the corner table by the huge open window spanning the width of the restaurant. The view onto the old dis-used public loos wasn't great, but you did nonetheless enjoy the benefits of al fresco dining in this spot on a summer evening. We enjoyed a complimentary Bellini thanks to a voucher we received having dined at their sister restaurant Bistro Union the night before. The prices on the menu took me by surprise as seemed more akin to upmarket restaurants in central London rather than Clapham. However the standard of food and service was high. A very different proposition to Bistro Union which brought us here. Food was very good. Just a shame both of our mains were served lukewarm."

  • "After many years of excellent cooking, Adam Byatt somehow seems to have found yet another fabulous gear. Simply sublime through every course. Congratulations to a restuarant which is truly at he top of its game."

  • "I must be missing something. I have heard many people rave about Trinity so we couldn't wait. The menu was so poor for a restaurant of this 'supposed' quality. 6 fish choices. The tuna carpaccio was bland and flavourless at best, the pigs trotters were only ok, lamb was cooked beautifully but the 3 new potatoes and 8 peas I received with it could have been rebounded off a wall. My wife's plaice was so drowned in lemon it was almost inedible. Added to this, I never get why certain restaurants hide YOUR wine and you have to ask every time you want a glass. It was galling to have to pay this amount of money for this meal and then have to have something eat when we got home."

  • "The food and service were very good. We look forward to going back later in the year after the refurbishment."

  • "Outstanding service from the outset. Interesting menu choices and good balance between fish and meat dishes. Would suggest more choice however. Wine list is excellent had a fleurie which felt like outstanding value at £40. Ambience is not remotely stuffy and staff were friendly as well. Have to highlight the salted caramel desert as the outstanding dish. Unbelievably good!"

  • "Many of our friends have raved about this restaurant so I booked for my wife's birthday. The setting was pleasant and it was busy for a Tuesday night. We were seated immediately with menus but then had to wait a long time before anyone even took our drinks order. The service sped up a little then although that meant we got our starter before our wine. This was mainly down to the sommelier spending an age trying to decide whether it was corked and when he finally decided to send it over we sent it back because it tasted like vinegar. The food overall was disappointing and did not live up to reputation. My wife's "charred" fish starter tasted more pickled and my veal belly main was very bland. We wanted to love this place but couldn't."

  • "We had nice food but the service was not really as we would expect of a restaurant of this standing. We look for some help with the wine selection and although our waitress was very helpful I don't believe she had had enough training, when we pushed harder on the advice she deferred to her manager but didn't seem to get the support she should have. We did have some further issues and yet the manager was very absent from the whole experience and didn't even acknowledge it or try to make amends in anyway. Mistakes do happen but its how they are resolved that gives you a good insight in the level of service. Overall good food let down with what I hope was just a one off example of what we expected to be an amazing birthday celebration."

  • "We had a wedding anniversary meal here and opted for the tasting menu with wine. The food was outstanding, wines appropriate and well explained, service friendly and efficient. I rate this as the best food high end in Clapham despite many more recently opened contenders. Trinity sticks to a more formal set up against the tide of informal foodie places in the area and is all the better for it."

  • "Very enjoyable meal. Excellent food. Well presented and very attentive service. Would dine there again"

  • "To be honest we expected quite alot but received much much more. Switched on staff who delivered a sterling service complementing the outstanding efforts of the kitchen."

  • "Dined here with 3 others during a 3-night stay in London. Weather was in the high 70's, so the front doors were open to give the felling of an open-air restaurant. Divine. We were able to try 4 of the starters and 4 of the entrees, and they were all excellent. Top-rate cuisine, but not too stuffy an environment. Noise level was low, so easy to have conversations. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I'd especially recommend the Carpaccio of Tuna starter and the Fillet of Sea Bass entree (and the Sicilian Lemon and Honey 'Mess' dessert)."

  • "My parents and I went for lunch here as there was a good set menu - 3 courses for £27. We had radishes and cods roe as an appetizer, prosciutto wrapped around green beans and mullet with deep fried courgette for mains. It was really great food, and reasonably priced - although obviously a bit more than £27 a head! But well worth it for a special treat. I'd definitely recommend Trinity."

  • "Had dinner on sat night (28/6) - had a great time overall. The usual good stuff - outstanding food, attentive service, excellent wine suggestions, extras (e.g. radish amuse, macarons). The annoying bit - we booked a table for 9.30, but when we arrived it "wasn't ready" and we were sent to an awkward corner in the back to wait for 15 mins. The most annoying thing is that they were setting a table for 2 as we arrived (which we presumed was ours), and after 15 mins we were brought to that same table which was empty and ready the entire time!! Not sure what the confusion was, but after getting excited to go to one of our favourite restaurants we were made to feel small and forgotten.... the ideal way to annoy your guests before they sit down!"

  • "Fast becoming a regular at Trinity. I think its seriously underrated. The food is always exceptional and deserving of a Michelin star. The staff are really personable and attentive. Plus they even threw in some desert wine as an extra. Highly recommended."

  • "We went for an anniversary dinner to Trinity. Really fantastic food - imaginative and delicious without being over fussy. Very good value for the quality. Tuna and rabbit scrumptious - and the blackcurrent souffle was stupendous! Staff a little over keen to sell up on the wine which is a bit annoying - but there are bottles for reasonable prices. A lovely treat and absolutely would go again."

  • "The front windows of Trinity were open which allows one to get a sense of space as it looks out over the new forecourt. The service was very good indeed and the dinner was delicious. It is always beautifully presented and inovative. I feel it is a real gem & I will always return when wanting to go that extra mile."

  • "We had a great time trying the delicious tasting lunch menu at Trinity. The waiter was simply amazing with just the right level of enthusiasm. It is a shame the restaurant was quite empty but it was Wednesday afternoon. Please go and experience their lovely food, everyone! :)"

  • "The area around Trinity in Clapham has been developed a lot over the past 9 months. It is becoming an extremely trendy focal point for the community. It seems fitting for the restaurant itself. As always the service was immaculate. We pondered the menu over fresh radishes, mayo-based dip, olive bread sticks & the famous ye olde yeast bread (which is amazing). The white onion soup starter intense & flavoursome; served with sourdough & cep butter. The Apricot Stuffed Rabbit, Sand Baked Carrots and Tarragon Gnocchi exceptional. The apricot gave the rabbit a contrasting earthy & sweet taste. Excellent. The gnocchi - not too heavy. For a change we shared a cheese board for dessert (but bought a cake from a new deli for supper at home). Indulgent"

  • "From service, to food to wine parings, it really was a fabulous evening. All 4 of us were incredibly pleased with the taster menu and the atmosphere was buzzy too. Really do not have any way that Trinity could have improved our experience."

  • "I have walked around Clapham Old Town many times and never seen Trinity before, it is tucked away and I was only made aware of it by a friend's recommendation. i was not disappointed. The food and service were fabulous. I especially enjoyed the chocolate cremosa for dessert. Good selection of wines by the glass also."

  • "Food here was really impressive. Great cooking and one of those menus that makes it difficult to choose - I would happily have had anything. Trotters, lamb and blackcurrant soufflé were all spot on. However, service was a bit dodgy. We were in early so restaurant was pretty much empty, yet we were shown to the worst table right by the entrance. Staff grudgingly gave us a different table. Waiters were friendly but tended to read the menu back to us when we asked questions about various dishes, all delivered with a rather forced formality, where a much more laid-back (but knowledgeable) approach would have been far better. Until the restaurant filled up it was deathly quiet - no music, no audible huddle & bustle. For the money, go into town. "

  • "My husband and I recently had dinner at Trinity. Very good indeed and lovely to be able to order a 500ml carafe rather than a bottle of wine. Wonderful, professional service. A few mistakes which were a shame - my starter of pheasant egg and asparagus lacked seasoning, the egg was cold and I was underwhelmed by the little cannelloni that came with it. My husbands lamb was on the wrong side of rare. He was perfectly happy to eat it but it should have been pink, not raw. But these are minor quibbles as it was a delicious dinner (loved loved loved my John Dory) and we will certainly dine at Trinity again, funds permitting. It is a little expensive......but then they are running a business and good ingredients cost more. Recommend."

  • "We had a wonderful Sunday Lunch at Trinity last weekend. The food and service could not be faulted. The meal was not inexpensive, but real value for money for special occasions. Would highly reccomend"

  • " The staff are splendid: very welcoming and; informed about each dish and it's ingredients. The food was carefully crafted, very fresh ingredients combined in innovatory fusions. Our table greatly enjoyed the Crispy Trotters, Sauce Gribiche, Cider Mayonnaise and Crackling and Spring Minestrone, Soft Boiled Bantam Egg soup to start. Followed by Salt Marsh Lamb, Wye Valley Asparagus, Fresh Goat's Curd. Great favour but the guests who had selected this dish commented on the meat being 'dense' in nature. . The Apricot Stuffed Rabbit, Sand Baked Carrot was described as slightly over sweet. The overwhelming success was the dessert the Salt Caramel Chocolate Cremosa, Pink Grapefruit. Non dessert eating guests related this dish highly. "
