This is a very classy room, and the service tried to match up to it, mostly succeeding. They were making an effort with the food. I had a very generous filet steak which was very tasty and served in a herby sauce. My companion had a sirloin steak in a good rich sauce with mushrooms. Both steaks were served pink as requested. We started with a plate of seranno ham with parmesan cheese (no, really) figs, rocket and balsamic vinegar, which looked and was very nice. The wine is very reasonably priced. Good for feeling you are having something special, which is unusual in Glasgow.

Can't fault the food at all. As foodies, we know good food and really enjoyed our meal here. Great ambience too - piano player/singer, low level lighting, nice artwork on the walls. Service was friendly enough, but they almost forgot about us. Constantly struggled for the staff's attention to clear our empty plates, or order more drinks and so on. Not a deal breaker, but good service costs the same as bad service, and if this element was improved upon, then I would be a regular here.

We had a pleasant evening with friends. The meal was enjoyable. Service was good, with the gap between ordering and delivery due to the fact that the food was actually being cooked. I suspect that most of the provenance was locally sourced, but it would have been good to see it noted on the menu or for the staff to have been able to tell us. The 'piano bar' ethos was good and created a mellow atmosphere, although the pianist could have played with less 'forte' and more 'piano' at times. I had the cheese option and was pleased to see that plenty of biscuits and oatcakes were provided. It is very annoying the way some restaurants skimp on this item, which, in relation to the cost of the rest of the meal, amounts to pennies: a tick for that!

It seems that Scottish restaurants just can't cook a steak! Tasty but disappointing that in a restaurant of this calibre the Chef overcooks and spoils what would otherwise be a lovely steak. Our friends in the continent would certainly not be impressed!

I enjoyed the restaurant and my only observation would be that the quality is spoiled by using paper table cloths on top of linen cloths. For a restaurant like this it spoils the appearance.

Champagne pre meal drink at bar was lovely. Bar staff could not have been more welcoming. Dining experience not as good. Our waitress was polite but inatentive - we had to pour our own wine through the meal. Starters took a long time to arrive. Presentation was poor - lacklustre on white and black stripe edged plates which were too large. Sashimi was very disappointing and overpriced - quality of fish questionable and cut against the grain. Gave it a rough texture and it was too thick. Looked unappetising on plate but taste was passable with good quality ginger accompaniment. Liver parfait had a definite look of 'shop bought' and had a uninspiring presentation. Main course grilled lemon sole excellent. But no garnish. Only chips/tsauce.

i booked a table at 7-15 pm for the 2-courses with a glass of wine meal deal, when my wife and i arrived we were shown to a table and given a la carte menus and were told that offer finished at 6-30 pm, i produced the confirmation email which stating my booking time and the attitude of the waitress went from bad to very poor indeed, my wife and i became very embarrassed, it was a very unpleasant experience, i will not return to this restaurant ever again.

This was a superb venue for a very special occasion. The set menu had loads of delicious choices and as a nice touch was headed with the graduate's name. All our choices were tasty and filling and included perfectly cooked sea bass and an amazing lemongrass brûlée . Service was excellent and the linen and cutlery pristine. There is also a cosy bar which we retired to afterwards for a few cocktails! We will most definitely be back!

This is a beautifully appointed place, where contemporary design meets traditional elegance. White linen, sparkling cutlery and fabulous floral arrangements give it an air of sophistication. Staff were unobtrusive yet attentive. The sharing platter was delicious : tasty shredded duck in hoisin sauce, melt in the mouth flavoursome pate and Parma ham with artichokes, complemented by rustic bread and oatcakes. Our mains too, proved to be delightful : perfectly cooked sea bass served with a mozzarella and pine nut salad and every morsel of meaty burger on a brioche bun was devoured! Too full for a desert, we chose a cocktail from the extensive list. Felt like affordable luxury!

We had a voucher for dinner from the prix fixe menu. The menu was fairly limited and as my husband is a very fussy eater we rang up beforehand to see if we could swap one of the starters, taking a starter from the main menu and paying the difference. The man who answered the phone was very helpful and said it would not be a problem. When we arrived and explained this to the waitress however she was very off-hand and said "well he isn't the boss". The customer should not be brought into any of these discussions. We had been told it was ok prior to arriving and that should have been the end of it. We were made to feel awkward even though we were paying the difference in the price. Aside from this, the service and food was excellent.

The fish starter was not prepared properly as there were still bones present. The sea bass main was dry and overcooked. My partners veggie option was tasteless and more pastry and sauce than a main meal. The chesse selection was a selection of 2 served with grapes past there best. Front of house and waiting staff need to learn to smile, there is a lot of competition out there.

My wife and I had a lovely evening at Urban. The restaurant was very busy with a large group booking and the staff explained that due to this service may be slower that would normally be expected. However, I would describe everything as relaxed rather than slow which was exactly what we were after. The food was great, service was outstanding. The highlights were definitely the fish soup starter for me and the salmon starter for my wife. However the duck main nod the steak main were also fantastic. After that we were too full for dessert. Will definitely be back.

Had lunched there before, was impressed, so tried the pre-theatre menu. Food excellent, good portion size, service attentive but not intrusive. Price very reasonable - £14.95 for 2 courses +£3 if you required a dessert. Lovely ambience - booths which will take 4 people in comfort, plus larger tables for parties. Linen clean and crisp, the flatware and glassware sparkling. Staff were well presented. The only grumbles were the mark up on the NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Although delicious, the retail price inc. VAT was only £9.49 and the restaurant price was £24.95. The piano player in the bar was far too loud - killed conversation. Apart from that, I can totally recommend Urban as good value and quality and a great place for any occasion.

Food as always was good, love the location and the setting of urban. On this occassion the waiting staff left a lot to be desired, with the exception of the maitre d who is a lovely chatty lady, the waiting staff didnt smile in fact they all seemed to be in a foul mood or were just rather annoyed to be there doing their job, each course was thrown down to us as they were passing, not really what i expected for the price of the place and well a smile costs nothing. It wont stop me going but if the next time is the same i will advise the maitre d in person that her staff are lacking all manners.

Given worst table in restaurant(small table for two next to a wooden partition with staff passing by )even although this happened the last time we visited too , on that occasion we asked to be moved. Did not bother this time Food very small portions. the waitress was nice but the gentleman who showed us to our seat and took our drink order was unfriendly and must have decided the badly positioned table was good enough for us! Also we booked at a time when their website said pre theatre meals were being served.however we were given only the a la carte menu and when I queried that was told we were30minutes too early for per theatre meals. This despite their website times....so beware ..we had to end up dining from the a la carte...a rip off!
