Valentinos is a favourite spot for meeting friends and for special occasions. As it's across the road from where we live, the location is ideal, as well as access for my disabled husband. The food is always good.

  • 'Booking not confirmed'
    brumdiner

Unfortunately, despite having made a booking and received the confirmation by email, on arrival we were told we had no booking. In fairness they went to check (leaving us standing around for the best part of 5minutes) before returning to tell us "your booking wasn't confirmed therefore we don't have a table for you". Part of me says these things happen, the bigger part of me says no way will I be returning - the lack of booking is one thing, being told our booking wasn't confirmed when I knew full well I had received an email with the subject "Booking confirmation for Valentino's" was just irritating - hey ho, plenty of other restaurants in the area.

  • A good place to meet friends

We had an early evening meal together with friends we wished to catch up with. At 6.30 the restaurant was quiet and so we could chat in peace, but it was busier later. The set evening meal was very tasty with several choices and good value and included a glass of wine. The service was pleasant and attentive. We would go there again.

Have been past this restaurant 100s of times and never been in. If only I'd have gone in sooner, service was excellent and the food was wonderful. Currently recommending this restaurant to anybody who will listen, had a truly lovely evening.

Valentine's was always going to be solid but they did a fair job. Service and food decent rather than good and our starters took ages but it was a nice evening out. Valentinos, Birmingham.

  • The food was truely outstanding
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011
    Dined on 14/2/2012
The food was truely outstanding but it was clear that this small/cosy resturant was not equiped to handle so many guests on Valentines day. The tables were far too close, the waitresses struggled to get the dishes to the tables as they were so close. Coats were not taken and hung off the backs of chairs making it worst. There were communication between kitchen and staff and a general sense of everyone being overwhelmed. As a result it was not the romantic meal we hoped for. The food was however very good.

Lovely little restaurant - had a real bistro feel to it. We went for the two courses for £9.95 lunch offer, which had a great selection to choose from, and all three of us really enjoyed both starter and main. Definitely recommend!

  • The food was what you would
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 13/1/2012
The food was what you would expect for two courses for £12.95 on a Friday night. Pretty average. Service was ok, very eager to please. Vege soup was oily. Fillet steak was ok. Bruschetta was very average and didn't taste fresh. But again two courses for £12.95, can't complain too much I guess. Unlikely I'd go again, especially without the offer.

It was very quiet at Valentino's at 6.15 on a winter Thursday, so the ambience was not all that good; but that really isn't their fault. In all other respects this was an excellent experience. We had a really splendid prix-fixe 3-course meal, at an amazing price. This deserves many more customers. Mushroom and chestnut soup; a very well-handled chciken supreme, and a yummy pannettone bread-and-butter pudding. The glass of house wine included was very acceptable indeed. Well worth a return trip!

Valentinos in Harborne, Birmingham is pleasantly decorated in blue and white and has friendly and helpful staff. The main courses were fine but not exceptional - the tomato sauce in my salmon and prawn risotto was heavy on garlic despite it not being listed on the menu. The creme brulee however was very good indeed.

    Dined on 19/8/2011
Our meal at Valentino's Harborne got off to a bad start when we were told the 2 courses for £12.95 was not available on a Friday. This wasnt obvious when Top Table took the booking. That said, we ordered A La Carte with my wife going for one of the Pasta dishes while I opted for Lamb Shank which was delicious. Well cooked, falling off the bone & very tasty. Disappointment came in the dessert. The strawberry Cheesecake appeared to be a shop bought Strawbery Cake! Wine was reasonably priced.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2011

The last time I’d been to this restaurant was in 2002. Little has changed, these days it looks a little tired. We Enjoyed the food, fresh hot and tasty. My fillet steak was slightly overcooked but was large and the accompanying side of vegetables were cooked to perfection. £8.95 for 2 prawns and scallops as a starter not so good. Service was not bad. We had a decent night. Would we go back, maybe but there are plenty of better restaurants in the midlands for the price.

It was a very pleasant meal. My husband and I used to go to Valentinos and long time ago and we decided to try again for our anniversary. We enjoyed our food, but perhaps the price was a little expensive and the portion sizes a little small. The atomosphere was fairly quiet when we first arrived, but the restaurant soon filled up. The waitress was a very interesting and she was very attentive and she made us feel relaxed and she improved the ambience and the experience and we would definitely go again for a speical occasion.

Valentinos Restaurant, Harborne. The menu was well thought out, the food itself was very nice with decent sized portions but the whole experience was made more personal by the excellent customer service of the staff. Although the restaurant wasn't full when we arrived, the staff were attentive without being too obtrusive. A very intimate and friendly environment with good food. Will certainly be going back.

Valentino's, Harborne, Birmingham Easter Day lunch 2011 As ever a warm and friendly welcome when we arrived. Not as many as expected for Easter Day, but told they had been very busy on Saturday evening. Chose from Sunday menu: pork so tender it melted in mouth, mullett wonderfully succulent, vegetables comfortably soft for dnetures to co;pe with easily without being overcooked.

Valentino's, Harborne. Took my son for his 30th birthday lunch. Restaurant was pleasant, quiet as to be expected on Monday lunch time. The one waiter was attentive and friendly. We both had the fillet steak with gorgonzola, red wine and mushrooms, it just melted in the mouth, cooked to perfection and easily the best steak either of us had eaten. Certainly not overpriced either. Would definitely recommend and will be going again!
