A word from Vasco & Piero's Pavilion Restaurant
Vasco and Piero opened the restaurant in 1971. Vasco and Piero created the restaurant out of a passion for good, uncomplicated Italian food. The making of fresh pasta on the premises has always been a priority. From the outset, the menu changed twice a day, a tradition which still continues.
Vasco was born in Umbria and as a result of this many foods are sourced direct from farmers in this region. Particular favourites are truffles, wild mushrooms, seasoned cheeses and cured meats such as lombetto and capocollo.
We only use the best quality extra virgin olive oil mainly from Umbria, Central Italy.
Many of our hams & salames such as Lombetto (a cured loin of pork) are imported from local Umbrian farms.
When in season, we import black & white truffles from hunters around the hills of Umbria.
Our balsamic vinegar is from Modena. We use Maldon sea salt with pure flaky crystals.

The staff are very friendly, have a laugh, the food is very nice though I think I got the last of the chocolate mousse mix but hey, I'm trying to lose weight not gain it so a small portion was OK. It's not one of those modern highly polished places where everyone moves silently around, there's a nice buzz, the tables are packed in but you can tell there are regulars eating there and regulars means good."

This impression changed as soon as we were greeted, the service was exceptionally friendly and quick. The food was excellent and although a little expensive absolutley worth it. I would strongly recommend Vasco and Piero's but bring some time as the desserts (Tiramisu) was the best we had had in London so far and therefore ordered a second service."

  • "Prebooked or a pre-theatre dinner. We were the first customers through the door, as they were opening at 17:30 and the waiters were taking their coats off but we were warmly welcomed and included in their banter. The venue is small and cosy but not fussy. The menu was also relatively small - perhaps 10 starters and ten main courses - and dated with the day of our visit - so it presumably varies day-on-day. The food is classic italian trattoria, but not necessarily standard menu items. My wife had a chicken liver salad to start followed by excellent sea-bass. I had fennel scented salami with ragu/pasta to follow. All excellent. In short we were delighted by the welcome, the food and the service. We felt we had very good value."

We had a terrific dinner where everything was fresh and cooked with care and attention. It is always great to have a menu where all of the choices look appetising and here I could have chosen anything. The wine choices are good if not a little pricey but other than that, I can't fault it. We will definitely be back."

Also good that you can order a mini plate for those who don't want to have a large plate of pasta. There was no noise apart from other guests enjoying their meal too. What I really liked also was nobody had a mobile phone on the table, no iPads etc. while we were there for a special occasion the other guests in the restaurant were mainly business people. I would go back again but as it can work out quite expensive I would leave it for another special occasion."

  • "We booked an early time at this restaurant for pre-theatre dinner so initially we were the only people dining (it filled up quickly while we were eating). The menu for the day had just been printed and there was a good variety of options for all courses. We had a total of six dishes between us and they were all delicious with the butter and rosemary agnolotti being outstanding. A good selection of Italian wines is also available. Service was excellent throughout and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for excellent food."

  • "We were looking for somewhere near Soho for a good meal but reasonably priced. I was a bit unsure when we walked in as the decor was unexciting and it looked a bit cramped. We were seated and we had good space so the first impression was not fair. The service was friendly and relaxed but efficient. The meal was tasty and the portion sizes just right. I am not sure that I would go for a big celebratory event but very good for catching up with friends and theatre trips etc."

  • "We got there a couple of minutes before our 5:30pm booking and everything was shut up, which was a little disconcerting, however we waited for a few minutes and everything was very good from that point onwards. The restaurant was empty to start with but soon filled up with what appeared to be regular customers. The food was simple and excellent - perfectly cooked and full of flavour and the service was also just right. We never had to worry about finishing within the 90 minutes we had before our show started and the restaurant even made up an off-piste meal for one of us who fancied chicken. A very good meal - highly recommended."

  • "My friends introduced me to this cosy and classy little Italian place and I wanted to go back for our Christmas meal. It's pricey but the food is delicious. I had the swordfish which was perfect. The owner comes out to talk to you and all the staff are friendly and there are obvious regulars. I docked a star for them doing that obligatory waiter thing where they put you right next to someone else in an otherwise empty restaurant, but it did fill up by the end of our meal."

The only negative from the evening was the Pork Belly came out over cooked and only just warm but when mentioned to one of the wait staff she was only too quick to apologize and replace it.   • "Good quality traditional food with excellent ingredients. Chicory salad starter was excellent, the cod fingers and chilli sauce had good fish but a bit lack lustre. Calves liver was well cooked as was the sea bass. Guinea fowl with tagliatelle was sublime, beautiful cream and mushroom sauce with a touch of spiciness. Lovely old fashioned feel to this restaurant but relatively expensive, even for this area."

From the warm welcome when you walk in, through the friendly and courteous service to the simple, but beautifully prepared food what is there not to like? Living well out of town means that we don't get to eat here as often as we'd like, but we always book a table when we do come in to the West End - it's that good!"
