Diner Reviews
  • "Lovely atmosphere, friendly, polite and attentive staff, great food and amazing cheesecake."

  • "Villa Moura seemed to us to be all that you could want from a local restaurant: friendly and attentive staff, a good range of well cooked and well presented dishes at a reasonable price, all in a bright and welcoming setting. We would have no hesitation in going again when we are in the area or in recommending the place to others..."

  • "Nice airy fresh dining room, friendly staff. Good sized portions of fresh fish and veg. Very enjoyable meal at great value at £30 a head. Would recommend to anyone."

  • "Fantastic food , attentive staff; lovely little restaurant. Great fish, especially and excellent value. Our first choice for all family occasions!"

  • "I have eaten at Villa Moura on at least half a dozen occasions and the standard of food, particularly the sea food, and service have been consistently high. Although the restaurant is now bright and white due to a redec, its a shame that the murals and hanging vines have gone. I can't help but feel that their removal has dampened the previously warm ambience slightly, although not enough to stop me eating there or recommending it. "

  • "A great evening out, with excellent food and wine. If you love fish this is well worth a visit. The friendly service was second to none and the cosy atmosphere made it extremely comfortable. Will definitley be going back!!!"

  • "We were unlucky enough to be put downstairs in this small restaurant. Very dismal, old with a noisy heater on the wall and the place smelled of damp. Really not suitable for a restaurant. The owners should give the place a coat of paint or something to improve the dull, old appearance and the smell. The food was good, or some of it was. The fish cooked fresh - the garlic prawns more butter sauce than garlic. Very disappointing...."

  • "I have been to Villa Moura with some friends. The fish dishes were delicious and it was obvious that the they were prepared with fresh, good quality ingredients. The service was a bit slow, but this was due to the fact that the dishes were prepared on the moment and that the restaurant was quite full. Overall, a very pleasant experience and outstanding value for money, which I would definitely recommend."

  • "Although it was a little quiet it was a Monday eve but had superb friendly service. Excellent food , fresh not left overs as a quiet eve ! Made to feel very welcome . Really lovely meal ."

  • "First time in this cosy Portuguese restaurant. The picture on the internet made the restaurant look bigger, on arriving to find this small little red door as the entrance to the restaurant, from the road the dinners looking very cramped inside. Don't let that fool you as there is more to this restaurant. We were seated downstairs. The menu had a lot of fish dishes to choose from, I ordered Norwegian Mushrooms to start which was very tasty. For main i ordered Sea Bass, it smelt and tasted wonderful. Really enjoyed my choice of meal and I felt was good value for money. My Partner ordered the Grilled Dover Sole which looked and tasted nice, but he felt that it was a little over priced. Apart from that I had a lovely time, will return again."

  • "Villa Moura is a little gem of a Portuguese restaurant in Lee, South London. The fish and seafood are fresh and delicious and they also have a range of interesting meat options. The piri piri sauce on both prawns and chicken is authentic and there is a buzzing atmosphere in the room. The host and his staff are outstandingly helpful and welcoming. Our table of 12, including elderly parents, children and newborn baby gave them a run for their money but they couldn't do enough for us. Thoroughly recommended."

  • "I have always wanted to go to this restaurant having lived in the local area for a number of years. It was a Sunday and we were for the most part of the meal the only people in the restaurant so service was attentive and fast. The house wine (ordered a bottle of red and a bottle of wine) was drinkable ... just. Starters arrived, food was hot and very well cooked. Overall a nice meal, reasonable price considering it included wine. We had our three year old daughter with us, but had taken her meal as we could not see a child's menu on the web site for the restaurant and had to make sure that she would be able to eat. On arrival there was a children's menu and we would have been able to order for her from this. Would go again."

  • "My partner and I came to this resturant on valentines day and it was the most decorated place I'd ever seen, with love hearts and flowers everywhere. It definitely had a romantic feel! I found the set menu to have a few good choices. The oysters to get us 'in the mood' we're lovely and fresh. I can say the rest of the meal was very tasty and the service was great! I will definitely return to this resturant to try the delights of the normal menu as I've seen it has lots of choice! Don't miss out everyone"

  • "Haven't been for a couple of years so wasn't sure how much it had changed and whether it was for the better Greeted by a friendly front of house of manager and led downstairs and given our choice of seating. Bread rolls and butter no charge. Rolls were soft and fresh but my partner thought the butter was very salty. Bacon, scallop starter shared with 8 mussels sprinkled round the edge. For the main I had pork belly and mash with green beans and thinly sliced carrots. It was lovely the crackling was flavourful and not too crisp or hard. My partner had the special (haddock with mash). Which was well cooked. I was impressed with the attention we received and considering it is a fish restaurant the meat dish was a delight."

  • "This little restaurant has won a place in my heart mainly for the excellent seafood. Definitely not many restaurants in the area can compete with the succulent flavours coming out of this tiny kitchen. Sea bass, cod, mussels all were cooked in such a tasty way that we were impressed. Value is good as there are dishes to suit everyone. The same for the wine list."

  • "Our first visit to Villa Moura. Small restaurant with relaxed atmosphere. Friendly, attentive service without being overbearing. We both chose fish for main course. Dishes very well cooked and portion sizes ample. Busy but never felt rushed. Will definitely return and recommend to friends"

  • "The restaurant is a long walk from blackheath station. Also the restaurant is a bit cramped up. I had gone with my husband and we had a mixed feedback on food. He totally loved the food (cod) while the halibut I had was chewy. The place fits for foodies who want to experiment new taste as the menu looks tempting."

  • "Extremely pleased with the overall dining experience at villa moura Portuguese seafood restaurant. Friendly attentive staff and very cosy and relaxing ambiance ! Food particularly delicious and would strongly recommend the scallops wrapped in bacon which were cooked to perfection. Reasonably price wine list and affordable main coourses with the option to really go all out on special occasions! Would definately return for intimate dinner with friends! Location not ideal if not living in and around the lee green area and definatley not in central blackheath as described.. But worth the short walk to work up a healthy appetite and really enjoy the food."

  • "A charming welcome in a small but cosy restaurant. A variety of options without a massive menu. Fish is fresh and delicious, peri-peri prawns fabulous. The hosts are friendly and non-stuffy. What's not to like on a cold November Sunday in Lee?"
    dined on 17/11/2013
  • "Lovely relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff. We didn't feel rushed to leave our table. Food and wine was good value and delicious! If you like seafood then it's a worth a visit. I had mussels as a starter and then 'Neptuno Sinfonia' - both were delicious. The only thing was our table for two was right near the door, even though it was in a corner, so next time I would ask for a table further in the restaurant."

  • "Very nice friendly reception an helpful staff. One meal (Piri Piri Chicken) very good, however the monkfish and prawns were very chewy and dry(possibly overcooked), salmon was nice. My partner was very disappointed, says she will not return Sorry!"

  • "We took my mum here for a celebratory 60th birthday meal. The service was ok, not overly freindly. I brought a birthday cake with me and asked if this was ok beforehand. I was told it was on this one occassion however they would normally charge a cake fee. It took 45 minutes for our main courses to be served however it is still a long while to wait. The starters were delicious, i had the squid with chorizo - very spicy. For our main meals three of us ordered lobster and my partner ordered staek as he is a non-fishe ater. The lobster was not very tasty or warm. It was quite tough. For £30 per main meal this was very disappointing. The steak was also not tender and chewy. All in all i would not recommend this restaurant again."

  • "Great meal! Starters of calamari were excellent light batter perfectly cooked. We also had chorizo which was amazing ! My Portuguese friends were very impressed!! Salted COd for main was good although a bit too salty for me but again my Portuguese friends found it to be very good All in all a very nice place I have just one recommendation for restaurant - get a better range of Portuguese wines please Thanks"

  • "This is my second time at Villa Moura and I have not been disappointed. Delicious food (excellent choice of seafood), great service and overall good value for money."

  • "We have been to Villa Moura many times over the last few years, and until this latest visit we have always had a good experience. This time, regrettably, this was not the case. The service was very slow (after an hour we had still only had a starter) and the food was variable in quality (though my partner enjoyed her meal, my cod was overcooked, chewy and tasteless). The restaurant used to be very intimate, but since we last went there they seem to have had a makeover involving the removal of most of the curtains, which had the effect of overamplifying the noise in the room to the point where it sounded like a school classroom before the teacher has arrived. Finally, the coffee was so weak it tasted like nothing but hot milk."

  • "We having been coming here years, although the place looks different the food was still wonderful, service could be a little more attentive , but overall all had a great evening."
