We chose Vivat Bacchus as a central place to meet as we were all arriving from different parts of town. The ambience was excellent and the welcome from the staff was warm and friendly. The food was excellent and the Cheese Room was amazing. Although the place was very busy the staff were all friendly and attentive. Definitely a place to return to.

Spent 4 hours last weekend eating and drinking. The cheese room was unexpectedly small but the tasting session and recommendations were perfect. The cheese board was matched with great wine. The staff were really helpful and attentive. I am already planning my next visit.

Excellent food, good attentive staff without being overbearing. If you want great steaks accompanied by very good wine this is the place. The wine is moderately expensive (welcome to London) but probably the going rate for the area. Good menu, good service and excellent food. Nothing negative to say about Vivat Bacchus, overall well worth a visit.

We had a wonderful meal at Vivat Bacchus in London Bridge, an unexpected find just round the corner from the station. Firstly, service was exceptional, all of the waiters were very attentive and friendly but without being intrusive or lingering. Food was excellent, we enjoyed the meze platter to start and both our mains were great - although we struggled to finish them, the portions were very generous. The hot butterscotch sauce on the ice cream sundae was the perfect end to our meal! We will definitely be returning soon!

I am a regular visitor but have been disappointed with my last two visits. Wine, service and ambiance were excellent, as usual, but the food quality did not match the prices charged. The ox-cheek - despite having been slow cooked for 5 hours - was hard and tasteless. The chicken caesar salad used bits of chicken that looked ugly and I would not have fed to my cat.

Good food - 3 of us had steaks all cooked perfectly. however it's the cheese room that's a highlight. The smell does hit you as soon as you arrive though ... but you do get used to it. Service was excellent. Only complaint is that the table was too small. We had to put the wine on the floor to avoid it being knocked off!

Vivat Bacchus has been a convenient meeting place for friends for 2014. It has a very good wine list, a good choice of full meals or bar snacks and the ambience is lively without being hideously loud. The service is the winning element for me - the staff are always charming, pleasant, attentive enough without being over-the-top.

After working all day at an event close by a well-earned sit down and a G&T was just the ticket. The staff were so helpful and accommodating. Plenty of choice on the menu. Food was really welcome and tasty. One of our party was very taken with the cheese room, and the lovely way the cheeses were explained was great. My wife particularly enjoyed the music and singing which offset a lovely time and meal. Well done Vivat Bacchus - London Bridge.

I went here at the last minute as we were looking for somehwere to eat near London Bridge. Service was attentive and knwoledgeable. There was a spoecial offer for steak and a glass of wine on the evening and so we plumped fpr that. Steak was served as requested and the wine was very palatable. Even without the special offer, the prices in the menu was very reasonable. Will recommend - expecially if you like your cold meats and cheeses.

Vivat B offered a good lunch menu for a business occasion. The menu and wine list had a good offering and was fairly priced for the quality. The steak was well cooked and the starter ceviche was excellent. The dessert panne cotta had not set properly and was sub-par. Overall, the service by the staff was top and the hostess checked that everything was to our liking which was a nice touch. Would go back for a quick business lunch.

Went for a celebration dinner with a fellow cheese and wine enthusiast and it did not disappoint. While it is fairly expensive (a cheese board, charcuterie board and bottle of house red sets you back almost £90 for two), it is worth it to head down into the cheese room and study the vast array of cheese they have on offer.

After a mad dash around Greenwich we headed back West and I am so glad that we chose Vivat Bacchus as our dinner stop. Service was snappy and friendly, the starters (wild mushrooms on toast, beef carpaccio, Queen scallop ceviche and Burrata di Puglia) set the scene beautifully and the mains delivered big time (Black label burger, double Black label burger, springbok burger, Grilled halloumi, Wild sea trout). Puddings were a delight. We had a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours and will return ... maybe the Calamari Steaks next time.

I really liked steak for 2 priced at £45, it was well cooked and presented. I found chips to be dry and was not impressed with their quality. They were too long and not crunchy. It would be good if waitress mentioned to us that no salad comes with it. I did not like my desert (ice cream) it was presented in a long cup and melted straight away.

Booked Vivat Bacchus for a Saturday night dinner when I had family visiting from out of town. The restaurant was busy and there was good atmosphere. I hadn't realised there would be a live jazz band, that was a great addition. The food was nothing to write home about. It was nice, but nothing special. The cheese board was very good though. If I went back, I'd probably just go for wine and cheese and would have a very enjoyable evening!

I have long been a fan of Vivat Bacchus in Farringdon (and the original Browns in Johannesburg!) but this was the first time I visited London Bridge. I tried to order the burger medium rare and was told that it only came well done! Apparently the meat is minced and frozen elsewhere and they couldn't guarantee the quality enough to serve it rare. This was astounding for a restaurant that is a stone's throw from Borough Market and all the organic produce. I ended up ordering the fishcake which was clearly not freshly made. Hard edges, dry salmon and no taste. 'Triple' cooked chips were soggy and raw in the middle. I would highly recommend eating elsewhere in the area which is now a foodie mecca.

Me and my boyfriend (Born and raised south african) visited on Saturday for an evening meal. Both the fillet steak and the springbok burger were delicious. The wine is excellent, I suggest the south african cab sav for £35. The waiting staff were excellent and efficient- our water glasses were never empty throughout the meal. There was also live music in the form of a double bass player which added a lovely ambience to the evening. I definitely want to go back and sample the cheeses in the dedicated cheese room and some more of that lovely wine! Recommended!!.

Had a very enjoyable night at Vivat Bacchus, we were initially sat in a loud area but after asking to be moved we were moved to a quieter table nearer to the window. My colleague had the mushroom starter which he really enjoyed and I had the carpaccio which was very good. We both had the steak and it was very well presented and extremely tasty, the quality of beef was outstanding and cooked just to our liking served along with a tasty rocked and parmesan salad. The cheese room afterwards was enjoyable but make sure you are happy with the price before you accept!
