Diner Reviews
  • "Our waitress was not as attentive/on the ball as usual and had to be called over to take drinks, food orders. That aside, great food as ever."

  • "Had delicious oysters, creamy and tender, beautiful whole place and perfect dressed crab. Great service at the counter."

  • "A good place to eat if you like seafood and the hussle and bussle of London life. Not cheap but worth the money. Booking essential. Great location."

  • "Good informal atomsphere and a great range of fish dishes. Service was spot on."

  • "It was the hottest day of the year 6pm on a Friday eve. chose this restaurant because of the reviews. Staff were very efficient. Cover bread arriving as we sat down. Drinks promptly served. The space is tight so you are very close to neighbouring diners. It is certainly a fun, busy, fast paced environment. Not for leisurely romance although there were couples meeting there after work. It is not cheap but the kind of food it serves is not cheap. The menu is very short but I like that. Do good food well. No need for 10 pages of choice. Also we had the mini platter... It would have been good to be told that was enought for two sharing. I couldn't face much more than the pate after the rockafeller starter in that heat."

  • "Great food. Staff a bit too cool for school but the great location overlooking Borough Market and the fantastic lobster and oysters more than made up for it."
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "We popped in for a quick Sunday dinner. Service was great - very friendly. Excellent selection of oysters to start and really fresh fish to follow - a great meal. It's compact inside, but that gives it quite a buzzy atmosphere. It wasn't cheap (£45pp, only one of us drinking and had 2 glasses of wine) but the quality of the produce and the cooking is very good."

  • "Great if you like fish. Simple good puddings that are not too large or sweet. Good service. Lively atmosphere"

  • "Visited here for a business lunch and had the most wonderful fish pie. The atmosphere is fantastic and the service is great too. Please note that this is not necessarily a place that you would visit on business unless you know the person well. As the seating is quite intimitie and the tables are quite close. In addition, the majority of the seating is on stalls, which adds to the great atmosphere, but not great for a formal business lunch. I will definitely return soon."

  • "My favourite of the London Wright Brother venues - the first I went to and the one I return to most often!"
    dined on 24/06/2014
  • "Best place for oysters in London! The best place to sit is at the bar so you can watch the chefs at work and enjoy the atmosphere of this busy little restaurant. The wine list is small but well chosen. I chose an English champagne since I am not a fan of the big brand French champagnes and and I was not to be disappointed. If you are in the area and have an hour to kill you would do a lot worse than dropping in here."
    dined on 23/06/2014
  • "A great dining choice. The oysters were amazing - I had oysters a few days before at a more famous restaurant in Piccadilly and these were by far the better option. The portions are great (again compared to the more famous and expensive) the staff friendly and helpful and the food spot on. Next time - in the very near future - I will have the woysters again and the squid - already planning it."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "Went to Wright on a Thursday evening as part of a group and had grilled lobster, fried squid and some wine. We were served efficiently and needless to say the food was fantastic. I'd have liked as bit more carbs to go with the lobster but that is trivial as the entire dish was cooked to perfection. I'd definitely recommend it!"

  • "Love the high stools and eating at the bars. Delicious oysters and dressed crap."

  • "The seafood is fabulous and in a reasonable price."

  • "Loved everything about Wright Brothers Borough! Our lunch was a real highlight to a special day in London. Great location next to Borough Market and very close to London Bridge Underground."

  • "A great menu with great wine kept us happy at the bar whilst we were looked after by the great staff. Really friendly and very tasty. Highly recommended."
    dined on 06/06/2014
  • "It was Friday evening and very busy so it was great to enjoy the theatre of the cooking and engage, hopefully without being a nuisance, with the people preparing our Pollock and Lobster etc. Really appreciated being introduced (at no charge) to the Canadian Oysters that were very different (but equally enjoyable) as those we had already eaten for our kick off to the whole meal!"
    dined on 06/06/2014
  • "Superb food and service as ever. This place is a great little gem for good seafood. I had the grilled harissa mackerel followed by the plaice with shrimps & cucumber. Devine!"
    dined on 03/06/2014
  • "Proper, old-school setting (with up to date prices though) Good fun sitting at the bar and having tasty things arrive from every direction. The oysters we started with were expertly shucked and a shellfish platter (don't like the "fruits de mer" tag English restaurants sometimes persist with, even when they've dropped all the other French tags and flummery of yesteryear) was memorable, albeit with a boring number of winkles to deal with. Look forward to going back again."
    dined on 01/06/2014
  • "Great selection of oysters. Buzzy atmosphere and lovely staff. We were 3 people and sat at the bar which worked very well. We will be back - again!"

  • "I stumbled across Wright Brothers with a friend a few months ago, the atmosphere although quite snug is very cosy. The staff are friendly and attentive without becoming intrusive. The menu could have been explained a bit more but the staff were still very good. It's open plan so you can see the food being prepared, one of the chefs was chatting with us during our meal. Love the atmosphere, great wine selection, beautiful oysters, just a wonderful find. Also in Borough Market which is a treat. I brought my mother for her birthday a few days ago and she loved it. I recommend booking as they do get very busy. Even if you are not a fan of oysters there is fish available. Plus all the tips go directly to the staff which is nice to know :)"

  • "We had a fantastic meal at Wright Brothers Porter and Oyster House. Superb fish and seafood and great service from very knowledgeable staff. Also a great atmosphere. Will go again when in London, a delightful little part of the city."

  • "Size and layout of the place works for a busy Friday after work on a sunny early evening. Good food. Service was good and nice to see the head chef walking away from his pass to chat to people. Also is say its great for having a bite and something to drink casually as I was with my sister but also as a date place where you'd want to keep it quite light sat at their bar. Will definitely go back "

  • "Dined on a Friday evening. You always know that you are in a good seafood restaurant when it has tables of Asian customers which was the case that evening. My daughter and I had two dozens oysters, the guinness pie and a fish dish. All prepared in the open kitchen and beside the oyster bar tables. There is not a great deal of elbow room but that is the nature of the establishment and makes for a great meal as you get to know the other customers. We have been before and we will be back many times in the future"

  • "I have dined here on many occasions over the last few years and to date have enjoyed nothing but good food and friendly service. I can understand that the Borough Market branch of Wright Brothers is not every-bodies cup of tea in so much as the shared trestle type tables or counter dining does not lend itself for a particularly comfortable or intimate dinner for two. But if its good seafood your after then Wright Brothers Borough Market is as good as it gets for the price."

  • "Very rustic location with an amazing menu. All the staff were really friendly and the food was great. Would highly recommend this place to any seafood lover. "

  • "Everything about Wrights is excellent. It is a little on the pricey side but the food is top quality. Maybe not somewhere you would go every week, but perfect for a special occasion."
    dined on 03/05/2014
  • "We know the foods good here - we've been before without booking - this time we booked and I requested a table than sitting at the bar. Apparently they 'didn't get the message' though Open Table said they had. We were put at the bar - fair enough - but all the burners were on and it was way too hot to enjoy a comfortable meal. That's just not good enough Wright Brothers We left and had great fish at a much more comfortable Applebys just next door "

  • "brilliant place for after work drink and seafood meal. The seafood is always really fresh and delicious. "

  • "I booked the restaurant for my boyfriends birthday. I looked at the reviews online and all I saw was positive comments. It was a Sunday early afternoon so it was quiet as it just opened, the service was so efficient. Was greeted and taken to our table. My boyfriend loved the idea of sitting on tall chairs to eat. It was different but nice. All the staff were extremely friendly and food was bought to us swiftly. The food was presented well. My boyfriend was in heaven. Never seen him so happy with his courses. "

  • "Still the oysters are first rate and the general quality of the seafood gives Sheekey's a run for the money. Crowded and noisy but right for the food. Definitely a winner."
    dined on 24/04/2014
  • "Oysters were ok, but there are many other places in London where this is also the case. Some of us had fish, which was clearly inferior to that served in several restaurants within a 50m radius. So I'd avoid unless you really fancy poor and borderline rude service. By which I mean: - tables not ready in time for the booking, - 'free' drinks meant to compensate for the long (>20m) wait in a crammed corner of the room added to the bill - waiters clearly not familiar with the word sorry, and having the audacity to lie in your face (ours claimed the tables were pretty much ready, and that it was our choice to have a drink at the bar... which all of us found rich) - waiters trying to be chummy and pointlessly interrupting our conversation "

  • "I think Wright Brothers Borough is an exceptional experience especially on market days. So rustic and at the same time so refined! I love its traditional oyster-bar atmosphere, not to speak of the oysters and the delicious seafood it offers. Very romantic, after the outside crowds,"

  • "I took my parents here for Good Friday, wasn't looking for anything too stuffy just good food with a buzzing atmosphere and we got everything we hoped for. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly and the food was fantastic - the special of the sole with broad beans was the best of the night. Shame they had run out of mussels - that can be forgiven though as it was Good Friday. The only downpoint was that the restaurant was extremely hot, the chefs are cooking in a very cosy space - so take layers that are easy to take off! "

  • "Great seafood in a lovely setting. The food was great as were the wine choices. Don't go if you don't like seafood as there is nothing else on the menu, which was not a problem for us. Oysters are their speciality, we tried a mixed 6 which came with vinigrette dressing. Starters we had were from the specials board - clams in fino and wild garlic (delicious), harrisa grilled makerel (lovey) and for mains we both had the roast pollock (devine). Lively atmosphere and great service. I suggest that you go with either 2 or 8 as most people sit around the bar which is great for 2 and then they have 2 big tables which you need to share if you don't have 8. You need to book - they were turning people away at around 7pm on friday night"

  • "A beautiful vibe as you sit cheek to cheek with your neighbour enjoying fabulous fish meals."

  • "This is one of my favourite restaurants ever!! The food and ambiance is exceptional. The staff are brilliant and really well trained and informative. They are more than happy to help with your wine and food selections. It is my restaurant of choice when in London."

  • "Having eaten at this restaurant many times at lunchtime and enjoyed it, I found the reservation for my husband and I, for Saturday night a little disappointing. Instead of being seated at the bar or tables, that have bar stalls or chairs of equal height to the bar stalls, we were on a small oval table in the main walk way with the till just behind us. In fact the booking before had to be asked to move and the table cleared before we could be seated. If we were to book again we would state that we did not want to be seated at that table but on the main high seating area of the restaurant."

  • "This is the third time i have been to this place and it was just as amazing as when I first discovered it. The Grand Fruit De Mer is to die for and with the ambience taking you as close to the oyster shucking shores as possible, This Central London Seafood paradise is still my favourite haunt on the south side of the river. Can't wait to go back."
