  • "Nice welcome and decoration, service efficient and savoury food obviously made with fresh and quality products. Price correct for the overall"

  • "We go to the York and Albany regularly for their amazing breakfast. It is child-friendly but also lovely for adults. The pancakes are some of the best I've found in London. I also love to go for lunch and dinner. Their food is always excellent, as is the service. The garden in the back is the perfect spot for a leisurely lunch."

  • "We had the special of the day Rump Steak ....... Not Great !"

  • "Visiting one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants you expect the whole experience to be outstanding, considering what you see of him on TV. The food was really good and I cleared every plate but the service really let the place down. The staff were not very attentive at all, my husband asked for more water on 3 separate occasions and it either didn't come or it came about half hour later. There seemed to be a lot of staff just congregating together and chatting and we were just left. Overall food was gorgeous but really disappointed with the service."

  • "Tim was our main waitor and was very polite and helpful. Especially when we were told we couldn't have pizza in the resturant area, I think this needs to be specified online when people are making their bookings. Tim said it would be ok and got everything sorted for us"

  • "Great food, great service! Our party of four wanted to try a Gordon Ramsay restaurant and we were quite satisfied."

  • "Good sunday roast in the attractive settings of York & Albany. Roast beef itself was good but not spectacular, however, all the vegetables and horseradish cream were excellent! My other half's sea bass was excellent."

  • "Fantastic food, great wine, quality service. Will be back for another great experience."

  • "Normally I have had very good experiences at the York and Albany when phoning for a reservation. By booking online I found I had not been given a table in the restaurant but in the noisy bar where there is very little service and I often had to try to attract attention. This was extremely disappointing as I was entertaining for a business lunch. I wouldn't recommend booking online. Had I known the restaurant was full I would have gone elsewhere."

  • "Made the trip to Camden while in London because it had been a while since we visited the York & Albany and it didn't disappoint. The food here is wonderful whether you go from the bar or the restaurant menu and on a Tuesday lunchtime they were happy for us to mix and match. Their cocktails are the main reason we go, they are some of the best in the world. The service is perfect, friendly but not overbearing. We will keep going back here, one of the best bars and restaurants in the country."

  • "I visited the York & Albany on 29/06/2014 for my girlfriends birthday. Was excited initially as the restaurant looks beautiful. Our food was nice, but very overpriced so we never felt that we had value for money for what was essentially a Chicken and Beef Sunday roast. Our waiter had a very strange demeanour and lacked any personality and generally looked very unhappy to be there. No small talk just plenty of sighs and groans. They also ignored my email and forgot to wish my girlfriend a happy birthday. After all It's the little things which make you want to return. Our experience was a 6/10. I hope our experience of Petrus in Belgravia is slightly better."

  • "We had to wait a little on arrival as it wasnt clear should we move to the bar or wait at what appeared to be a check in table. When we were greeted the service was friendly and informal which we do prefer. We were seated downstairs so could see the kitchen and preparation of the food. This was something we were more than happy about. If you are not bothered about this and would prefer a more airy environment stay upstairs !! Our waiter introduced himself as Tim and he was friendly and attentive.Pre meal drink and the Champagne Pims was excellent. We had 3 courses and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. So why a little pricey we had another experience at another famous restaurant recently,no names, and it just felt a little more special."

  • "Steak meal so salty to be unedable. Offered free course on next visit - but won't be back."

  • "Staff is very friendly, there is no time pressure. Relaxed and comfortable surroundings, spend the entire afternoon eating and drinking. Best place to go after a day in the park or the zoo."

  • "A really lovely evening with delicious food and good service."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "Had a lovely time here on saturday, shadowed from the heat in the chilled patio at the back. Staff were excellent - not hurrying you to order, and having a chat/laugh with you when welcomed. Food was excellent - I could have done with a larger portion of the cod with pancetta gnocchi, but it was divine."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "Great food, but slow service. Great ambiance and wonderful bar."

  • "Great place - lovely wine and food, great ambience too"
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "We went for dinner on Friday. It was a little late and not all the menu was available. We had rump steak instead of the Rib-eye that had run out and it was as good meat as expected. The rest of the food was good as other times and the service and the ambience was great too."
    dined on 07/06/2014
  • "The food was perfect. I could have licked the plate. All 3 courses had nothing left on the plate. 10/10. "

  • "Thoughtful, well prepared food - friendly service."
    dined on 07/06/2014
  • "I had reserved a table and was looking forward to a sophisticated, tasty meal only to find it was spoilt by some late night drinkers who got too noisy. I had to had to move the time back due to Eurostar issues so it was well into the evening but the acoustics if the corner area and some louder drinkers spoilt ambience for us."

  • "I booked York and Albany to experience the attention to detail and general perfection that Gordon Ramsay is famous for- and was not disappointed. The ingredients were top notch and the preparation and level of.care that was given to each dish was outstanding. The service was efficient but not too quick and very friendly. The atmosphere is comfortable and a little elegent at the same time. Do yourself a favor and go to York and Albany- there's no reason to keep looking for a nice place to go out to in London, just come here."
    dined on 06/06/2014
  • "The secret was the British wine and the impeccable service"
    dined on 05/06/2014
  • "I took a friend here for her birthday. We were made to feel very welcome, ate a delicious meal with very good service. The ambiance is comfortable, the wait staff professional and friendly. We split a vegetarian main course to share as a starter, they brought it out on two individual plates but gave each of us a poached egg - it was the best course of the meal. Will definitely go back again, probably for the Sunday lunch."
    dined on 04/06/2014
  • "The overall ambience is good, the staff are attentive and welcoming, and the food is pretty good quality, although not outstanding; there's cheaper / better elsewhere. Still enjoyed the overall experience though"
    dined on 02/06/2014
  • "The staff were pleasant but seemed uncoordinated and out of sync with each other which was odd considering a service charge was automatically added to our bill. One waitress told us we would receive bread with our nibbles which we didn't and then found out from another waitress that this was incorrect. Our olives were then taken away without us finishing them. Most of our table of 8 choose the roast beef which cost close to £20 and I was told the meat was flavourless and rather bog standard. Myself and someone else had a cod dish with a lobster bisque, this too was remarkably flavourless. We also discovered it came alone with no vegetables or side dishes which we were surprised at as we assumed the staff would have mentioned this. "

  • "Nice place, good food, good location! There is a very nice outside terrace / patio to eat at which I look forward to try once the weather warms up!"

  • "The lady greeter, the two charming bar men (who made an amazing birthday cocktail for my friend) & all the waiting staff were friendly, welcoming & professional. Food & wine was wonderful - our waitress very knowledgeable on both. Great atmosphere on a buzzy, busy Thursday evening. You're on top form Y&A ! "

  • "We went to the York & Albany quite a bit in the early days and it was fantastic, great cooking and a real sense of occasion. More recently we'd felt it had gone downhill, but booked anyway because it was the right location and sort of restaurant for a multigenerational Sunday lunch. We were delighted we did, it's massively improved since our last visit. The service was impeccable, they went the extra mile, and the aged Herefordshire beef was just the ticket. Those who had fish were equally happy. Good to see that they do UK wines too - the Chapel Down sparkling rose was a gem."
    dined on 18/05/2014
  • "Poor food too expensive. I ordered lamb racks, asked to replace couscous to hand-cut chips and when my food came it looks like eating in a common restaurant vernot so interesting...no sallad or so...it just look brown boring & a bit of sauce :-("
    dined on 10/05/2014
  • "Great service from arrival to end. Wonderful drinks in the bar to begin with. The waiter had plenty of time for us, explaining the dishes and making recommandations for us. The food was great and tasted wonderful. If ever in London again, I will come back to this restaurant."
    dined on 08/05/2014
  • "York and Albany was very welcoming and served up a delicious dinner, some of which we chose from the bar menu (which is where the excellent pizzas and sandwiches live). Sides are expensive at £4. Good selection of by-the-glass wines and half-bottles available."
    dined on 08/05/2014
  • "Nice staff, excellent food, nice place to be Good atmosphere and good background music we will come back"

  • "Had a problem with the booking as Top table had a booking available for 9.15 but the last available booking at the restaurant was 9pm. We managed (just ) to make it for 9 but it could have been a major hassle. Restaurant apologised and offered us a glass of bubbly on arrival. Service generally was very good but the food was very disappointing. Wonderful sounding dishes turned out to be tasteless. Neither my partner nor I had a single good course. Really disappointed as this a local restaurant and we would love to use it regularly. Booking was on bank hol monday so perhaps the regular chef was away?"
