  • "A good pre show venue with theatres only minutes away. Quick efficient service , good quality italian style food. Reasonable value bookings required for pre show."

  • "Zucca is reliably good. First class, proper Italian food, great service."

  • "A lovely meal, food was great and there was a wide choice.A nice treat for a mothers day lunch"
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "We were given such a nice welcome. Staff helpful and quietly friendly. We were at Zucca, not for the first time, for lunch before theatre matinee. Soup with smoked fish was outstanding (cock-a-leekie?) and a glass of white wine was delicious. You step out of the restaurant and find yourself in the Lyceum Theatre. Magic. Definitely to be recommended."
    dined on 26/03/2014
  • "Would have given service 5 stars had it not taken forever to change a barrel. Enjoyed our pre concert meal very much. Love the central location. Happy to recommend to friends n family, in fact we already have. Will be back. Thankyou."
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "Another excellent pre-concert meal at Zucca. A variation on cullen skink to start was just what was needed on a cold evening. We followed it with plaice roasted on the bone, expertly cooked, and accompanied by capers and broccoli. A chocolate tart with raspberries completed a fine meal. The fixed menu is very good value for money too."

  • "Very good value pre theatre meal. We were there on a Tuesday night and the place was buzzing. Great service. Will be back."
    dined on 04/03/2014
  • "Tasty food; attentive service; value for money. Impressive wine list at reasonable prices."
    dined on 13/03/2014
  • "An interesting and varied pre-theatre menu, with several vegetarian options, but allow plenty of time as the restaurant is usually busy on Lyceum Theatre nights."
    dined on 04/03/2014
  • "Very tasty and beautifully presented lunch in pleasant, lively surroundings. An ideal prelude to an afternoon at the Royal Lyceum, of which it forms a part. Made for a delightful afternoon."

  • "As a regular customer, this is the first time I have been disappointed. The restaurant was full which I think caused the problem as service was very slow and we had to remind staff that we were going to the Theatre and really needed our main courses quickly. When they did eventually arrive, we had to bolt the food down and rush off. Not exactly the relaxed pre theatre experience I was looking for. There were only two table in the restaurant when we arrived and we were going to be allocated the worst table in the room at the top of the stairs but I asked for the other free table which looked to be better, however, there was a terrible draught coming from the air conditioning which was quite uncomfortable."

  • "Had a lovely meal here.food very good. Portions just right, service good also, could maybe have been a little quicker. Whoever we didn't feel rushed at all. Would defo recommend. I would certainly consider eating at Zucca again."

  • "This was my third visit to Zucca and I wasn't disappointed. The food was excellent and great value for money."
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "Me and my partner decided to dine here for our anniversary. They have a short menu not a huge amount of choice. However, I would go back as the steak was one of the best i've had. The service was good but could have been better. My partner ordered veg as a side which didn't arrive. It arrived much later but they were nice enough and didn't charge us for it. Overall a good place to eat. it is attached to the Lyceum. and they do a great pre-theatre menu."
    dined on 21/02/2014
  • "The food here was amazing. I had a tuna steak salad to start and rib eye as main. They were 2 of the best plates of food I've ever had."
    dined on 22/02/2014
  • "We booked online and read the great reviews . The food was excellent. Very tasty and all freshly cooked. Great service by the staff who were friendly and attentive. More quality than quantity. Would recommend to anyone who wants a great meal."
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "We were there on valentines day so it was very busy. We got seated as soon as we came in. Got the menu straight away as well but had to wait for 15 min until someone came to take our order. After ordering though the food came really quickly. For a 21pound bottle of Chardonnay I would have expected a bit more but overall it was a really nice evening with great food! The quality of the food was outstanding! Unfortunately it did not look very nice. I had the vegetable lasagne and it was served in a deep pasta bowl in which it barely fit in and there was a burned pasta sauce in the side of the bowl but as written before the taste and quality of the food excused everything else. Enjoy!"

  • "My boyfriend and I booked a table at Zucca for valentines night based on the good deal (3 courses for £19.99) that we had seen online. What a mistake! When we arrived the very rude head waiter told us there was no deal and that I hadn't seen one online? He was quite snappy throughout the entire meal as well. The food was ok, nothing to brag about- the presentation was the nicest part! When it came to dessert we both ordered the same thing and they arrived looking completely different and totally uneven portions! We were in a hurry to leave as we were quite disappointed and the staff were very unhelpful. When my boyfriend didn't add a tip on card machine we saw them talking about it and giving us dirty looks!we definitely won't be going back"

  • "I was disappointed in the athmosphere in the restaurant. It failed to deliver any feeling of an Italian theme, which is why I chose it. We went for a pre-theatre meal which probably accounts for the lack of personal attantion. The restaurant was busy but we had plenty of time and we were not in a rush. There was only one member of the waiting staff who tried to engage customers in any way. On a positive note the steak we had was very well cooked and we enjoyed it. The menu is a bit restricted and again lacked an Italian theme."
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "We 5 septuagenarian couples decided to have a St Valentine's lunch instead of a dinner. The restaurant was quiet and each lady had a long-stemmed red rose on her plate before the start of the meal. The service was attentive and very friendly. The food was even better than it had been before (the menu was new) and all together one of the best of the 5 or so regular lunches we have in a year. The wine list is not too large or intimidating and all together, it was a memorable meal - for all the right reasons. This restaurant is a little gem."
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "3 of us dined in very relaxed fashion before the Calcutta Cup match. Place was very busy - no spare tables - but staff attentive and there when needed. Food came in excellently sized portions for lunch matched with a short but more than adequate wine list. Even though busy we took our time and spent as long as we wanted to. I will return for lunch/dinner when next in Edinburgh."

  • "My friend and I dine there regularly after our theatre visits. The staff are so friendly and attentive. the food is excellent and service is very good too. we go before the theatre for a drink downstairs which is very pleasant and have our favourite table for the meal afterwards. Love it!"
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "Pre-theatre dinner - chose Zucca because it is so close to the Lyceum. Decided to have main plus dessert. Game stew was tough, dry and very disappointing. My wife's risotto had a lot in common with porridge. The creme brulee was perfectly acceptable, but the accompanying berries were very bitter. My vanilla panna cotta was devoid of vanilla and the tangerine and ginger were minuscule. This restaurant needs to go up several gears."
    dined on 06/02/2014
  • "I can't remember when I last enjoyed a meal so much - my steak was done exactly to my preference and very tasty - great value for money"
    dined on 01/02/2014
  • "Zucca are continuing to vary the menu in line with every new production staged at the Lyceum Theatre next door, which has been a continuing pleasurable experience. Always an interesting selection of starters and main courses catering to any of the fish, meat or veggie diners. Some of the more 'exotic' courses may require an additional cost on top of the 2 and/or 3 course fixed price menu's, but this additional expense is well worth the money as the quality is added on. Fresh ingredients matched by a kitchen squad who obviously make a lot of effort in quality & presentation prove to make this a very satisfying experience. I'd give Zucca 5/5 on everything, but, I still feel the quantities err more towards gentile than to generous."

  • "We enjoyed an excellent meal before a concert. Grilled vegetable salad made a delightful starter and the swordfish which followed was very good too. Served by a friendly and efficient Canadian waiter and meal was finished in a relaxed manner in good time for our concert. I will definitely be back."

  • "Thank you very much for delicious food - we were very impressed! Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. We look forward to coming back!"

  • "Lovely pre-theatre meal in a pleasant space with friendly staff."
    dined on 23/01/2014
  • "Starters : Scallops very good. Red mullet salad very poor - didn't expect raw fish and cardboard taste. Mains : Fillet of John Dory excellent but where were the razor clams ? Ribeye steaks good. Desserts: Creme brulee fine. Icecream and sorbets good."
    dined on 20/01/2014
  • "VEry friendly and amazing atomosphere. Will recoment to everyone."
    dined on 28/11/2013
  • "Zucca is one of the best Italians in Edinburgh, but the best in terms of value for money. Service is wonderful, and food is fresh, authentic, and we'll prepared. House wine is excellent."
    dined on 16/01/2014
  • "Food was great, service was very quick. Staff were very helpful"
    dined on 31/12/2013
  • "We booked for NYE and the restaurant is attached to the Lyceum Theatre. No set menu and although it's Italian there was no pizza. Food was nice but it's the ambiance and service I especially want to comment on. The waiters were fabulous not overbearing just made you feel really special. Would recommend for couples."
    dined on 31/12/2013
  • "This was our first visit to Zucca. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Super pre-theatre munu choices to suit all. Tasty and interesting. Great service. Very good experience indeed and we will definitely return."
    dined on 30/12/2013
  • "Two starters, three main courses and three sweets, two glasses of good sauvignon blanc and a tonic water for the driver, all for £72. This was a really pleasant pre-theatre meal served up by members of staff who were cheerful, attentive and good fun to meet. Well done, Zucca. I’ll be back."
    dined on 27/12/2013
  • "Loving the themed menu's that Zucca have adopted to coincide with the theatre performance. The variety of choices on offer is also to be admired. But, you should never leave a restaurant after a 3 course meal still feeling hungry!! Portion size needs to be improved and I hope that on this occasion it was a mere blip. Otherwise, great value for money. I would still rate Zucca's as a great little venue, so convenient for the Lyceum."
    dined on 21/12/2013
  • "When i made this booking i revealed that it was my wife's 40th birthday. i suggested that it would be nice if they could do something special - nothing big, but just a simple gesture. Unfortunately, there wasn't even an acknowledgement. the mediocre food made up for a dismal celebration."
    dined on 20/12/2013
  • "My group of 12 dined at Zucca Edinburgh and found the service to be outstanding. The waiting staff were friendly and service was quick. We ordered from the 3-course Christmas menu and I found my vegetarian option disappointing but all of the other 11 diners in our group said that the food was very good so this may just have been my personal tastes. I'd recommend it for large groups as the table was nicely situated and they were very accommodating of last minute changes in group numbers."
    dined on 18/12/2013
  • "Another great meal in this fab centrally located Italian Restaurant. Great food, great service, great location and good price."
    dined on 17/12/2013
  • "Zucca is the ideal place for pre/post theatre dining. The menu is spot-on, the service brisk without being hurried, and the quality of the food is excellent. Couple all that with a really good price for two or three courses, and you don't have any reason to look anywhere else! Go there and be happy!"
