Diner Reviews
  • "I cannot fault the food at Zucca, it was lovely. However the waiting staff were very off-putting. They are constantly round the table and I felt almost hounded by them. It was as though they were in a rush to get us out of the restaurant, which no doubt was due to the fact that they had other reservations later in that evening. It made for a rather uncomfortable atmosphere as we felt we couldn't relax and have a proper conversation without being interrupted by the staff."
    dined on 22/07/2014
  • "The entire experience was excellent, service was second to none, being able to see the food being prepared was fascinating and the food did not disappoint in the least. Would like to go back and try other dishes, there was just so much choice, it was impossible to have everything you wanted. Highly recommend."

  • "zucca is advertised as good option for gluten free customers, but in fact the restaurant has practically no gluten free options (it was really only 1 option in the menu of gluten free!) and very poor vegetarian options."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "I have been to Zucca four times now and each time thoroughly enjoyed it, the food is gorgeous a very good wine list And the staff helpful and lovely. It is not normally my area but go because it's sooo good"
    dined on 09/07/2014
  • "Very tasty food, clearly of good quality. The pasta itself tasted delicious, even without sauce. Very friendly but not overbearing service. Occasional cooking smells through the open plan kitchen."

  • "The quality of the food (and the wine list) at Zucca was fantastic, I would certainly rank it as some of the best Italian offerings in London, with the bread completely blowing us away. The portion sizes of the starter and the pasta however were smaller than I would expect anywhere, or for the price. Overall, amazing food but average value."
    dined on 02/07/2014
  • "Fantastic food and the perfect level of service - I will definitely go again."
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "Excellent food and service but rushed. Made a reservation several weeks before and then when restaurant called to confirm the day before told me it would be a two hour sitting and we would have to vacate table. Not impressed with this as the food is expensive and very good and you don't want to be rushed when your paying that amount of money and want savour the excellent flavours."
    dined on 24/06/2014
  • "Some restaurants make it all seem very easy to achieve that feeling as you leave that you really need to come back soon and Zucca is clearly in that bracket. The prices might have edged up a bit since the heady days just after it opened but Zucca still hits all the essential spots on food, wine and especially fabulous service."
    dined on 24/06/2014
  • "Didn't live up to the hype and definitely not the price. I have an unlimited dining budget, and no problem with a £65 per head lunch, but at such prices the food must excite rather than be a rehash of old concepts. Also, a small, improperly made Aperol Spritz for £10 each? Zuccatabekidding."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "Like italian people say : "Fuoriclasse". We enjoyed the food the service !!!!"
    dined on 19/06/2014
  • "What a lovely venue in which to celebrate a friend and colleague's retirement. All of us enjoyed the occasion tremendously. The service combined attentiveness without being obtrusive. Our shared starters and main courses were delicious as was the wine. Everyone agreed they would recommend Zucca to friends and visitors to London."
    dined on 19/06/2014
  • "Went here with my husband and two children. Very nice service, a good choice of vegetarian dishes on the menu and as I had told them in advance that I am vegetarian, they made a special main meal, which was delicious. Imaginative and tasty food and excellent service."
    dined on 15/06/2014
  • "Went for Saturday lunch with a friend. Sleek and stylish interior yet relaxed. We shared a selection of three starters: all equally exquisite! We both had pasta for mains: as fresh as you can get and very well seasoned, perfectly al dente! We're both pregnant so didn't have any wines but I had a peek at the list and it was very comprehensive. Will certainly go back for more. Wish we had room for dessert!"
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "Second visit and underwhelmed this time; mainly because the portions are ridiculously small. Asparagus and burata, a lovely dish but two spears of asparagus! Mains did well to cover the base of a 6 inch diameter bowl, and vin santo with cantucci only just hit the plural. Two biscuits. The food is well cooked, the place is packed and the decor and vibe is good but they're taking the mick with the portions"

  • "Excellent food and service, great value. Could improve the acoustics, have to shout to get heard!!"

  • "excellent and interesting food- very fresh sea bass carpaccio, asparagus cooked prefectly, delicious turbot-"
    dined on 11/06/2014
  • "I had dinner here on my own while in London for work. I am someone who takes Italian food very seriously (and had just arrived in London from Italy); each of the 3 courses I had was individually excellent, and the overall meal was outstanding."
    dined on 10/06/2014
  • "Great food, great service and great wine. I had read some reviews recently suggesting that zucca had gone downhill, from our experience there on Saturday this simply isn't true. We had a lovely meal and would recommend and return without hesitation. Meal and wine weren't cheap but certainly on a par with, it if not slightly cheaper than, restaurants of a comparable quality in London and we felt we got excellent value for money. "
    dined on 01/06/2014
  • "Another amazing evening at Zucca! Can't beat this really great restaurant."
    dined on 31/05/2014
  • "Some nice menu additions on our latest visit The Onglet with almonds is stunning and the rabbit was very good too "
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "This was our second time to Zuca and we were pleased with the food and service again. The menu changes daily which helps to ensure that the dishes are suited to fresh ingredients. We would be happy to go back again. "
    dined on 28/05/2014
  • "This is a small unpretentious restaurant. It was full early on a Saturday evening and very noisy. The menu was limited but the food was very good and the price reasonable. The service was fast-we were in and out in 1 .30 minutes-and it took us as long to get there and back. We would recommend this restaurant but not for an evening with friends as there is a 2 hour table limit; the tables are bare and chairs are minimalistic, and it was so noisy. If we lived locally we would go again."
    dined on 24/05/2014
  • "Have been here several times - first during the first year of operation, later for a lunch and latterly for en evening dinners. Whilst the quality of the food has remained more or less the same and good, the restaurant has crammed in more tables and prices have been raised both of which impact negatively on the experience."
    dined on 20/05/2014
  • "From the starters to the desserts, everything has a taste of sunshine, and a taste of surprise. The wine is extraordinary and the food is amazing. We really enjoy the veal chop, but the dessert just gave our dinner a perfect ending."
    dined on 17/05/2014
  • "This experience was tops in all categories. The ambience was lovely, the food was perfectly prepared, and the service was just wonderful. The staff was so helpful and anticipated my needs before I realized I had any. "
    dined on 16/05/2014
  • "Efficient friendly service. Food excellent. Short menu but I prefer that rather than the endless ones with similar dishes that are ubiquitous. Do wonder how they get good waiters with the cost of property on Bermondsey St., they must commute a long way. Thought I would have the veal chop but they come from Holland (lower welfare standards than UK)."
    dined on 15/05/2014
  • "Excellent warm service, lovely handmade breads and pastas. Zucca feels like scaled down River cafe but that's no bad thing. Reasonable prices for what you get and after trying over 12 dishes everything was excellent. Hard to get great octopus in England but this was superb. My only complaint is the interior is a bit clinical and lacks romance. But if food is your top priority this gets full marks- great Italian food."
    dined on 10/05/2014
  • "There's a reason why Zucca is always so booked up. The food here is just wonderful - seasonal, imaginative and always impeccably served. Delightful and knowledgeable service, fab buzz. One of my favourite restaurants in the world. As a local I liked it even more in the early days when it was mostly frequented by neighbours, but the price of this restaurant's success is that Bermondsey St is now rammed with cabs and, even on our last visit, chauffeurs for goodness sake."
    dined on 01/05/2014
  • "Second time at zucca. Mean starter portions (half a burrata; dodgy deconstructed vitello tonnato which would've been perfectly good in the normal Italian way). Pasta didn't have enough ragu but had too much butter, so very slightly felt like glue & was too rich. Over sweet pudding. Lovely wine by the glass. Very awkward ambience, business like, first dates, not convivial. Defo not the river cafe though it is 25% cheaper. "
    dined on 01/05/2014
  • "Went there on my wedding anniversary. The service, the table, the presentation of the dishes and everything else was excellent. The food was great too."
    dined on 26/04/2014
  • "Great service and meal paced really well - no sense of being rushed. Starters excellent, pasta main fresh and beautifully flavoured, veal a tad disappointing. Ambiance v. Friendly "
    dined on 26/04/2014
  • "Loved Zucca! Everyone was warm and helpful. The food was very fresh and prepared in unusual ways - great spices, fennel garnish , Parmesan curls on grilled broccoli, a great veal chop on lemony spinach. The dessert was divine too - salted caramel ice cream. I am ready to go again!"
    dined on 25/04/2014
  • "Simply stunning food and excellent service, great atmosphere with well places tables. Cannot fault anything, Highly recommend! and we will definitely return. Thanks zucca for being so excellent."
    dined on 19/04/2014
  • "has not lived up to it reputation. mediocre food service etc. would not go there again totally over priced. all marketing and hup!"
    dined on 19/04/2014
  • "The food is amazing, the staff is very attentive and the most important thing is that the restaurant is popular because the food is amazing, with a changing menu that never disappoints. "
    dined on 19/04/2014
  • "This was our second visit and did not disappoint. Food and service perfect. Atmosphere buzzy but not too loud. And, the ceviche, and salted caramel ice cream - delicious!"
    dined on 19/04/2014
  • "Brilliant food and amazing service. When booking ages ago I had mentioned it was my birthday so my dessert had a little candle on it, showing incredible attention to detail on their part. Will be visiting again!!!"
    dined on 19/04/2014
  • "We ate at Zucca for a business lunch last week, and I was taken back how absolutely excellent the food was. We had lots of different antipasti / pasta to share and then a main / dessert each, and so I tried most of the menu, but couldn't fault any of it. They did forget to bring us our dessert wine, but other than that the service was knowledgeable and helpful. Cannot wait to visit again"
    dined on 17/04/2014
  • "Food was average - my pasta was seriously undercooked and extremely overpriced for the portion I was given. I think Zucca might be resting on their laurels a bit as they have such a great reputation but they're standards are slipping."
