I booked a table for an early dinner. The look of the place is the now compulsory 'East London industrial shabby chic' but it is done tastefully and the candle-lit space looks nice in the evenings. It would be a very romantic venue were it not for the proximity of tables. You can hear every word they whisper at the next table but that is an issue with most London restaurants.
Staff was very cordial and the service was good. Food came very quickly and there was always a member of staff on hand (it was early in the evening and only a third all tables were occupied so I cannot say how they cope when the place is full).
The "homemade lemonade" was a glass of water with a few drops of lemon, you could barely taste the fruit, but I was there for the food after all.
I ordered three vegetarian tapas dishes: sweet potato with dates and walnuts, aubergine with tomatoes, beetroot and apple and romanesco with beetroot and almonds.
I was curious about the potato dish as I wanted to see how they would balance the sweetness of ingredients and, unfortunately, they didn't. It felt as if you were eating a dessert. The salad cream-like dressing on the aubergine completely drowned the flavour of what was supposed to be the main ingredient and the romanesco was overcooked and, same as sweet potatoes, drowning in the sea of "grasses" (coriander, rocket et al.).
Food was not terrible but it was below average and, at £7 a dish, slightly overpriced for what it tasted like, however it is still £2-4 per dish cheaper than what you would be charged in many tapas bars in Soho.
Good, different flavors
100Hoxton is a nice place with yummy food and a cool industrial vibe. The service is good and friendly, and there are great vegetarian options. We went for Saturday brunch and unfortunately the place was a bit too cold, and noisy due to renovation work upstairs. In quieter summer months I'm sure this place would be a gem.
Very tasty food, good service and atmosphere. This my new local go to.
The food is tapas style and with four of us dining we got to try most of the menu - all the food was interesting/ usual and delicious - and was brought out at well timed intervals. All staff were friendly / helpful. Didn't get to try the great looking cocktails instead opting for the reasonably priced wine list. Overall definitely worth a visit.
We had a great time at this low key restaurant. Food is great and mezze style although Asian inspired!
Value for money is excellent and cocktails like the Hoxton special is a must
A nice restaurant just to the back of Shorditch.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Food was nice, with an interesting choice of dishes.
I would have no hesitation in returning here.
We went for the 5 dishes for £30 deal so had a bit of everything. The flatbread with hummus with exciting, sea bream in banana leaf was sublime and the highly-recommended duck did not let us down. Cocktails were tasty and service was warm and attentive. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent food, beautiful blend of flavours and spices. Great service, value and atmosphere
I tried this on a Saturday evening with a party of four. The menu enables groups to share dishes, and the quality of the food was simply superb - with a good array of vegetarian options available as well. What really stood out, however, was the service - the staff here are incredibly friendly, polite and professional and will ensure everybody is having a great time. I would recommend this restaurant highly.
Lovely relaxed environment, delicate tasty dishes, fun and friendly staff!
Loved it, will undoubtedly go back :-)
I met a couple of friends here for a catch-up dinner on a Thursday night. From the moment we arrived the staff were amazing - we sat outside first for a drink and the waiters would intercept us before we made it to the bar to take our drink order. The restaurant itself was not that busy at the time, although has a nice, relaxed atmosphere with the bar in the middle of the room. The menu is based around sharing plates and every dish we ordered was beautifully cooked, imaginative and well balanced. We had duck, octopus, the most amazing little prawn toast squares with a Vietnamese-style salad, and scallops. The meat and fish was perfectly cooked - incredibly tender. Maybe the chef had an amazing night, but we were all surprised you can actually make a reservation for this place on the day. The food was outstanding. Before we left we made a booking for the following month, and resolved to have regular catch-up dinners here every six weeks.
food and service was great....only down side for me was having a low chilli resistance. staff more than helpful and all smiley which you don't find much nowadays.
small intimate venue just off of hoxton square and a short walk from shoreditch
Great place, affordable prices, good portions, inventive and original menu and sooooo tasty. Best restaurant I discovered this year.
The ambience is very chilled and cozy. The food is beyond expectation. Great Asian fusion with very novel combination for ingredients and flavour. Will definitely go there again very soon.
Great, imaginative, quality food at very reasonable prices. The service was outstanding and the ambience friendly and relaxed. Really recommend going there.
Really enjoyed our meal here, though the timings of the dishes were a bit off, and one dish didn't arrive at all.It was well priced and the atmosphere was good.
Fantastic food with attentive, helpful service at reasonable prices in a slightly bare and urban space. Highly recommended, especially for a mixed party of vegetarians, piscatarians and omnivores.
Second visit and a very particular dinner with an unusual combination of tastes, good size dishes for sharing, friendly knowledgeable staff and very good value. Will definitely return for more and soon.
Pros: Flavourful dishes, good drinks and a very nice menu. The service was good and attentive.
I went with three girlfriends for a Saturday brunch catch up with cocktails. We are all fussy eaters with me being a vegetarian and we were all delighted with our food. Absolutely delicious and the cocktails just made the experience even better, such loving care went into each one. I wish I could have made my way through the entire menu... this just means more visits soon to carry on working my way through. Highly recommend!
We went to 100 Hoxton on a Wednesday evening and they were doing weekend deal of 5 dishes for £30., which was excellent value for money.
One of the dishes we ordered was Scallops and they were fresh and perfectly cooked, moist and tasty. It's such a good value for money and food portions were big. I would definitely come back to try out other dishes in the menu! Highly recommended.
Amazing food, great music, lovely cocktails...nice and relaxed ambiance. Looking forward to another evening like that!!!
A really great restaurant, delicious, tasty, and unusual food! Surprisingly good value for money and the cocktail list gives a good selection of drinks to choose from as well. A little out of the way, but all in all a good experience.
a little on the pricey side with food but happy hour on cocktails til 7pm and pretty good cocktails. amazing staff who were very accommodating and polite. pretty relaxed atmosphere but very nice food with generous portions.
Booked this on a win that all the reviews were good, but it was excellant, defineitly being going again. My friend and i had the sweet potatoe which was by the far the best out of all the dishes, we had the duck which was very good, cuttlefish which id never tried before but was tasty and definitly try again and the flat bread which was ok, dont think I'd order again but again very good. I would recommend anyone to try here, great value with 5 dishes for £30 and all cocktails £8. great for a friends catch up.
This was my second visit and it was a bit if a disappointment, especially food wise, cod was horrible,
The first time I went the food was so much better
Brilliant ...great food and drinks, lovely cocktails and delicious new flavours. Great new spot and they take reservations too! Well done.
Food was very good: had the 3 seafood options and the flatbread. All very tasty and the flavour combinations are all new to me. I love that they seem very healthy - fresh ingredients and not much oil/sat. The cocktails were great. I don't like sweet cocktails and these are very nicely balanced. I particularly like the shiso lemongrass martini. I love the interior, though the tables are a bit closed together, and in fact we moved to the high tables for cocktails when a group of obnoxiously loud people sat next to us (they left very quickly, obviously not the right place for them). The service is fantastic - all the staff were lovely - friendly, helpful, and always topping up my water. I can't wait to come back next for cocktail happy hour!
Great food, fun for a group. Casual but cool ambiance. Good cocktails. An all around winner.
Disappointed with the food. Having read all the good reviews we were looking forward to our Sunday evening roast. The plates were not heated, our roast wasabi beef arrived lukewarm & no hint of wasabi; very disappointing. One roast beef was supposed to be well done, I made it very clear that it has to be well done, no pink whatsoever but half the beef was pink; my friend left it half eaten.
The restaurant was cold because both front doors were kept open, 2 of us had to keep our jacket on.
Went for late Sunday lunch, was excellent take on classic roast - good size portions and spiced it up. Cocktails were good and Dillion the waiter was very knowledgable helpful and friendly. I will definitely be going again well worth a trip.
Took a friend from out of town, we opted for the meal deal, which was tasty, innovative and a great deal. Staff was friendly and professional. I would go back to try the other options!
Great food with a sweet deal- 5 plates to share for £15 p/p for 2. Service was attentive and friendly. Will be back again soon
Really nice food at a great price. Best deal is to go Tuesday-Thursday and get the 5 dishes to share for £15 each for 2 people. If you're in a group of 6 people you can try everything on the menu (except the large plates which you can add on)! Favorites were the lamb, eggplant, duck and plum dessert. Also there's 2 for 1 drinks from 5-7 p.m. Very casual & cool atmosphere. Def a spot to check out!
I've walked past this place a lot recently and it was always busy. Now I know why. Excellent venue. Went for dinner on a Sat evening. Small, compact restaurant with a nice, small bar in the middle. Menu was eclectic - cauliflower panoramic, braised octopus, flat breads, surf / turf etc. Decent wine list. Food was lovely (pakora starter) and shared the hunter's chicken with rice and a salad. Portions were good and everything was fresh. Wine list was good, not cheap but not too pricey (nice bottle of riesling for £27). All in the bill came to around £70 Inc service, which was very good. Attentive, quick and friendly. This will be a good Al fresco spot in the summer time too. Give it a go if you're in the area. Or not.
Been for brunch and dinner. Both times - fab service, food and atmosphere. Scallops in particular rocked my socks.
Delighted to find 100 Hoxton. We went early one evening and it was quiet, but the service was excellent - friendly, relaxed but attentive and personal. The food was the best I've had in some time - all fresh dishes, full of flavour and wonderful combinations. Reminded me a bit of Los Providores, but better value. We had 6 dishes between two, which was possibly too much - expected them to be smaller than they were. The food bill came to £35, which was a bargain given the quality of the food. We'll be back.
We had a nice evening at 100 Hoxton. The ambiance, service and drinks were great however the food on this occasion was hit and miss. The pakora was awesome while the miso cod was disappointing. I personally don't like mushrooms and they were an accompaniment on two of the dishes we were served. The duck was chewy and the beggars chicken was just ok. Will be back for the sun-downer cocktails!
Food significantly above the expectations - even though they were from the people recommending giving it a try.
Think one day they will take the formula to somewhere Charging a lot more and still being in demand - so try it here while you can. With added bonus of a rather unlikely easy end setting. .
Service matched the food.
Can't wait to go again.
