Beautiful dining room, very tasteful and elegant and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The food was delicious (we ate from the pre theatre menu) the fish was very fresh and the poached rhubarb was divine. I booked a table for my mum’s special birthday and we both agreed that we would go back at some point.
I would thoroughly recommend 190 Queen’s Gate.
A lovely restaurant for a pre-theatre meal.
Delicious food, all served piping-hot...we had the fish & the pork options, & both meals were sensible portions with a good combination of vegetables.
The restaurant was full & buzzing, but the service was impeccable. No adverse comments to make at all.
With just a 5 minute walk to the Royal Albert Hall for our show, it was perfect.
The food was nowhere near one Michelin star standard and, apparently the starred chef only works there once or twice a month. A rather disappointing experience
Excellent haven for a pre-theatre dinner of amazing quality and value, before going to The royal Albert Hall, which is just a few steps away.
The restaurant is absolutely stunning, the atmosphere was lovely, service was fantastic and food was absolutely delicious. Portion sizes were also better than expected, did not leave hungry and would definitely go back next time I’m in London. 10/10
Nice restaurant, bit old fashioned but service very friendly and efficient and food very good.
190 Queen's Gate is an oasis in the bustle of the Kensington area. The bar and restaurant is an ideal stopping off point ahead of an evening at the nearby royal Albert Hall.
Meals and service were very good.
Very disappointed with an extraordinarily disappointing meal. My wife and I ordered the vegetarian option which was gnocchi. This was very dry and the only vegetable the restaurant offered to accompany it was spinach or several different potato options. A truly horrible, virtually inedible meal. When we complained, all they offered was deletion of the service charge which we would never have wished to pay anyway as the service was slow and mediocre at best.
We had an early pre- theatre dinner and were the only people in the restaurant till we finished our dessert when a group of 4 arrived. Attentive waiters. Good choices of food on the set menu, well presented. I like it when the meat dish comes with some vegetables. As it is part of a boutique hotel, the toilets are very clean.
A very enjoyable pre theatre dinner. Well served, on time, small portions, perfect for an evening at the Royal Albert Hall. Thank you.
We were there fir a
Not a real restaurant. No a la carte menu available. Just set meal. Very disappointed. I would not come back.
First of all I apologize for your bad experience at our restaurant , We operate with set menu only and exclusively between 5 pm and 7 pm for the comfort of the customers and we have a la carte menu from 7 pm until the restaurant closed , under request we do a la carte menu any time. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Lovely room food was delicious. Staff very polite and helpful
Excellent food excellent staff and a wonderful atmosphere - I took my grandparents and they absolutely loved it.
A great restaurant to have an early supper in before a visit to the Albert Hall. Perhaps a slightly less expensive menu could be on offer too.
Excellent food and nice staff. It was a quiet evening for an early dinner.
We have dined at 190 Queens Gate on several occasions and have always enjoyed our time there. The food was lovely and we went off the pre theatre menu which was extremely good value and had very good choices on the menu.
The only fault was two of our party were given non alcoholic beers instead of the normal one, but this was quickly rectified with no issues.
Will definitely return and look forward to our next visit
Food was outstanding and reasonably priced. 100 times better than the rubbish served up at Tom Kerridge's new venture at The Corinthia
Great service, great food, lovely decor and great prices! Pre-threare menu was perfect ya, thank you!
A lovely relaxed atmosphere just around the corner from the Royal Albert Hall so very handy for a before or after theatre dinner. We had the pre-theatre fixed menu and the food was delicious.
Lovely food and good service, We had the pre-theatre menu and the only tiny thing I would say is that we would have struggled had we chosen the three course option rather than the two.
Wonderful relaxing pre drinks in the bar and a truly delicious pre Theatre set menu in the lovely ambiance restaurant. Perfect amount for sitting through a show. Wonderful service and super atmosphere. A stones throw to the Royal Albert Hall and no need to stress about getting to the 7.30pm opening performance.
Boutique hotel/restaurant, intimate setting with typically English interior design.
Highly recommend the amazing butternut squash risotto.
Family pre theatre dinner
Restaurant sympa, vintage.service impeccable. Un peu cher peut-être.
Lovely drink in the bar followed by a superb meal pre Royal Albert Hall event. Location perfect just a short stroll, service exceptional and lovely atmospheric bar
A long overdue visit to 190, good food and attentive service in a relaxed environment made for an enjoyable return to Queen's Gate.
We had a really nice pre-theatre dinner. The food was excellent and well presented and the service was prompt and attentive.
They appear to have read some of the reviews lately. Service was great, friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely pre-theatre dinner, the menu is good and the cheese was great too!
Was a rush to eat the Pre theatre menu and get to the Albert Hall, service was a bit too slow.
Not very prompt filling up our wine glasses either, we actually had to ask at one point, so would have been better leaving the wine with us.
Food nice but didn't wow me with flavours. Expected more from a Michelin starred chef's menu.
Room lovely and staff friendly.
We like this restaurant, especially the bar. We had a Main course and a dessert - main course was really nice but the desert nothing special. It is a quiet and stylish place, this is why we like it.
Regrettably, we were pretty much, about only people dining.. perhaps we ate too early but it was nearly 8 pm when we finished.
We booked this resturant for a pre Jazz evening dinner at the Albert Hall. Got there for 7pm and had 2 hours before event, so lots of time. Service was slow and glib, no personality or welcome either. Ate from the set menu, had trout which was small but nice, followed by turkey dinner..... It resembled a school dinner, pathetic presentation, and the chef should be ashamed to serve up a meal like that. We had guests, so I was really embarraced. Thankfully the jazz was brilliant and we moved on. The venue was great....just need to change the chef (if you can call him a chef??) and the staff.
Despite ordering the pre-theatre menu I was left for 45 mins. There was no apology for the delay or communication at all, even though the restaurant was far from busy. When I eventually attracted the attention of the waitress, she said she would find out what had happened to my food, but she never came back. I eventually asked another waiter who said nothing and continued to serve other diners I found their behaviour at least bizarre and at worst arrogant. When mu turkey main course eventually arrived it looked and tasted like a very bad school Christmas dinner, consisting of two meagre pieces of turkey, a slim disc of stuffing, three small, hard roasted potatoes, three baby carrots and three very hard sprouts! I only had time for one of my 2/3 course yet the bill included a service charge, for what was the worse, rudest service I have ever received in a restaurant. At no point was I asked if I was satisfied with my meal, or given an apology or explanation of any kind. My credit card payment was taken in silence. I am amazed that 190 allegedly has a Michelin starred chef, given the poor standard of both food and service!
Have used this restaurant twice in the past month for pre-theatre dining. It is well situated for visiting the Royal Albert Hall but you need to allow an hour and a half for dining if going for the full three course pre-theatre meal. There is both a fixed price theatre menu with a choice of three dishes for each course and an a-la-carte menu if preferred.
There is also a busy well stocked bar adjacent to the restaurant. In summary, a very pleasant and comfortable dining option.
Got stuck in traffic and was 10mins late for a dinner reservation. Called to let them know in advance but was still declined the Theatre Menu which was disappointing. Especially when we arrived there was barely anyone in the restaurant. There was no atmosphere - lights should have been dimmed, heating on and more Christmas decor. Food was over rated and salty. The staff were not friendly or welcoming. A real shame as I haven’t been in years, I took my parents for my dads birthday (told them in advance so hoped they would make it special) and they did nothing. It’s gone down incredibly in my estimations. The people make it - invest in good staff!
Unexciting pre-theatre menu. Chose roasted cod with Morteau Sausage but we were given a plate of roasted cod with a slab of sage and onion stuffing (which was being served with the turkey on the menu). When we asked about the lack of Moreau Sausage our waitress said there wasn't any and she had forgotten to mention it to us. We remarked on the inefficiency of the kitchen and it wasn't received well.
Well...... how did I not know about this place before? The Albert Hall was full, so I came here and I'm so glad we did. The pre-theatre meal is incredibly good value and the service was generally very quick. We all ate differennt menu choices and they were all absolutely excellent. Clearly the hotel has lovely staff, too, and although the dining room is very small, if you can sqeeze in, then do. MUCH nicer than the RAH restaurants and less than a 5 minute walk. Excellent, and I WILL be back.
A nice restaurant. Service is good but unhurried and for pre-theatre meals one must allow plenty of time.
