A city centre restaurant with a city centre buzz. In the heart of Newcastle's Quayside, 21 has an excitement and warmth all of its own. Smart but not stuffy, sleek but not pretentious, fun but not gimmicky - It's about eating good food in comfortably stylish surroundings.
To help keep everyone safe, our teams will continue to wear face masks and we'd love you to do the same when entering and moving around the restaurant.
Thank you for your support and understanding and we look forward to seeing you.

We’ve been ‘doing the rounds’ of some of Newcastle’s restaurants of late - this is te best so far. Can’t fault it at all
Excellent range of dishes on Fixed Price Lunch menu. Spoilt for choice.
Chocolate sauce with Pear Belle Helene would have been better if served warm.
Excellent food, good service, a little pricey but worth it for special occasions.
What a disappointment. 21 was our “go to” for a special evening meal but overall we were disappointed with the quality of food and value for money. Despite letting them know it was our daughter’s 30th birthday they made no attempt to acknowledge this at all.
We are always happy to pay for real quality - our guests ordered the Chateaubriand which was underwhelming to say the least and at£80 for two I would have expected more food. My husband’s lamb was tasteless and came with no sides and his scallops over priced for two although they did taste delicious. The restaurant was really busy so clearly many people still very happy to go but this will be our last trip.
Always great food and service. The only complaint was our table was booked for 8 pm, but we were not shown to our table until 8.50 pm.
Nothing not like. A splendid venue.
Food was beautiful.
Deer was devine and service was great
This was our first wine experience dinner and we thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. The food was remarkable beginning with the most delicious canapés. The matching wines were a treat enhancing our dinner beautifully.
Excellent food and staff very attentive but unobtrusive. Lovely evening.
Great food as usual
Only negative was the temperature of the room
We sat near the window and it was really chilly
21 remains the go to place in Newcastle for me if you want a quality dining experience with partner, friends or work colleagues. Fantastic food and service, quality drinks,. Just as good as it has always been. Personal favourite are the cheese soufflé, the fish cakes and the chocolate soufflé. Oh and the bread! Try the South African Chenin, it’s brilliant and a wine which is so understated in the UK.
The place to eat in Newcastle. The food and service here are always spot on. Can never fault the place and this time was no exception. My wife and I had the autumn tasting menu with wine pairing and it was just fantastic. Every bite was amazing. Cant wait to come back again.
Best starter I’ve eaten in years possibly ever. The mushroom ravioli with fois gras in a creamy truffle oil sauce was absolutely delicious. The whole lemon sole was very good. Good wine list and pleasant service.
Wife’s 50 was spot on food great service
Cannot fault the food or the service. Will definitely go back again.
Celebrating our son starting university
The tasting menu was excellent. Waited 40 minutes for someone to clear our last course and had to go to the bar to pay as no one came to collect.
Excellent food - definitely one of the best restaurants in Newcastle
Nothing not to like
Best Prawn cocktail I've had and roast chicken main was gorgeous and a lovely pavlova for dessert was a lovely way to finish off a lovely meal
Quality as usual
Great food and very enjoyable visit
Food was tasty but a long wait and quite small portions.
Good experience in 21. Excellent service we’ve got made my day . All recommendations of waiter are really good. Trust me, Oysters are the best choice
Great venue for our celebration dinner for completing Great North Run that day. Food and service were exceptional. Loved the unusual decor which gave it a homely feel 😊.
Wonderful way to celebrate after the Great North Run
Been a few times now and we’re never disappointed. Service was excellent and the food amazing
For my starter had the natural oysters while my wife had the tempora oysters with mayonnaise. For mains I had the rib-eye steak cooked rare while my wife had the lamb. Finally I had the Stichelton cheese while my wife had the chocolate soufflé.
Food was exceptional and an excellent menu.
Service was prompt BUT our table was booked for 7.30 and we didn't actually get to sit down before 8.15.
During the 45 minute wait we were sort of forgotten - although were eventually able to order cocktails
food, service and atmosphere were all top class. My lamb chops were the best I've ever had. I'm saving my pension to come back !
Always a great experience and food was amazing as always. Love it here..
It was perfect, the food superb, service great. We were a little chilly at times as our table was near the door which was kept open presumably for Covid reasons but we acclimatised very quickly.
Lovely food together with friendly & efficient service.
Lovely food. Pricey £600 for 6 of us so special occasion venue.
Excellent food and service- and great value. The decor was probably pretty cutting edge about 10 years ago though, not that’s its awful- it’s all in great nick, just could do with an update
21 continues to excel as one of the best restaurants in Newcastle. Keep it up!!
A very good night out but a little expensive I felt the starters were over priced
Delicious food good variety on menu.
Slightly chilly air due to conditioning but that’s me!
Great lunch with friends. Busy ambiance but no delays in service as staff were very attentive to every need. Steve and Federico were assuring that front of house ran smoothly. Delicious meal with very appealing desserts.
Sorry to read that the restaurant is closing Sunday and Monday but understand the decision for now.
Better times are coming……
An enjoyable meal with an interesting selection of wines. A particular thank you to the sommelier who took the time to explain wine selection and waiter (Annie) for arranging variation with one course.
It was wonderful to see the restaurant so busy and despite the presence of a large party celebrating a wedding anniversary who caused no problems to us we had to endure two males sat next to us who spent most of the time either shouting into their phones or seeking to out score each other with tales of hunting animals. UGH!
We ate the previous 'Tasting Menu' which exceeded this offering in terms of courses suited to my taste and possibly the wines priced at a lower level.
