Everyone was very accommodating and helpful, lovely place slightly hidden away
Lovely find at a very last minute of looking. Happy we managed to fit in he smallest of table seating. Food and service were great. Sommelier needs some training. Typical central London prices.
all the staff were professional and helpful, with elegant understated service through out.
Staff very kind, helpful and knowledgeable about wines. High quality food and incredible atmosphere, warm and classy at the same time. One of my favourite spots where to relax in city centre. PS: try their lamb!
Great customer service, we also had a dog with us and everyone working there was very kind and friendly!
Lovely staff, very accommodating. Even given us some free bubbles for my best friend’s 30th birthday celebration! Definitely would recommend and come back again!
Great spot for lunch. Food and service are excellent. Love their wine list!
Had a lovely time on a quiet Monday morning.
Booked this place last minute when looking for a place to have a business meal over breakfast. 28-50 did not disappoint!! I had the smashed avocado with poached eggs on sourdough and it was simply amazing. My guest had the eggs Benedict and also enjoyed it. The presentation was lovely but we were too hungry and overwhelmed by the smell that we didn't thought of taking any pictures. There wasn't many guests when we arrived, which was perfect as we were able to have our meeting but it quickly picked up and had a nice buzz by the time we left. Service was also very good, attentive but not intrusive and always making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.
Thank you everyone, We shall be back!!
Fantastic service as always.
Had an absolutely fabulous evening in 28-50 restaurant for New Year’s Eve. Atmosphere, food and staff were amazing, really looked after us. Could not praise this restaurant enough fab little find in the heart of Marleybone
Meal was reasonable but the service was very poor. The waitress that served us showed no interest at all. Will not be going there again.
Hi Bakers, I am sad to hear that our service didn't live up to expectations. Normally, we receive excellent reviews about our service. This must have been an off-day for one of our staff, but we will investigate to see why it happened. I do hope you will try us again one day. Regards, Ginny
My partner and I came here for dinner. We had a lovely time, the food was amazing and the staff very knowledgable and professional with great wine pairing recommendations. We will definitely be back !
Beautifull place in marylebone, the food was amazing and the staff friendly. I can't wait to come back.
All the staff were beyond helpful, steak was perfectly looked to my taste.
There was a really good buzz and nice atmosphere.
I will definitely be returning in the new year.
many thanks to all the team
My friend was visiting me from Denmark and because he told me beforehand he was craving oysters, I did my research and booked a table at 28-50 couple weeks in advance. When we arrived, we were told that they had no oysters at all and there were a couple others changes from what they were offering in their menu. This was very disappointing as oysters were the sole reason we chose this place. We picked something to eat out of the pretty uninspiring menu (burger for him, tuna for me). They tasted good but nothing special, considering the price we paid. On a positive note, the staff were lovely and very polite and the atmosphere cosy. It was a very unmemorable night and I don’t see us returning.
Not really sure where to start with this one. To begin with it’s much smaller than it looks and was half empty.
Pretty looking bar area. Despite the half empty we had to wait for 5 minutes for a table. There seemed to be many staff but we waited another 10 minutes for our drinks order.
We then waited nearly 30 minutes for our starter - all fine however, everyone was pleasant. We then waited another 30 mins for our main. Here is where it gets weird. We ordered steaks as a treat and my friend asked for rare (she likes it bloody). Her steak arrives and looks exactly like my well done so we politely return it to the kitchen (35 quid on a steak etc)…. I continue eating which isn’t ideal but hey ho.
Suddenly the chef appears from the kitchen and begins to shout at my friend for returning the steak, saying it was rare and she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. I mean standing at our table shouting in her face, while she is close to tears. I have never seen the like.
Luckily the MD was there and escorted the chef back into the kitchen. The steak re emerged about 20 mins later so my friend ate it alone (I had obviously finished long before) reactions from the staff ranged from ‘he really cares about his cooking’ to ‘are you sure it wasn’t rare’ until the MD and deputy manager stepped in to apologise. They kindly gave us our drinks and her steak for free which was much appreciated but kind of necessary!
We had travelled to London for a festive day and this kind of took the shine off (we were laughing in absolute shock). So I cannot in good faith recommend but I will say my steak was well cooked if a
Little tainted by the screaming that came with it.
Thanks to the MD and assistant manager who were both good.
When we made the reservation we chose the a la carte menu but we learned we had to do the Christmas pre-fix menu when we arrived. We also had to ask several times for water and bread.
But, the food and ambiance was good.
Dear Matt, Thank you for sharing your review and for your comments on the food and nice atmosphere. Really sorry you were not aware that only our Christmas day menu was available. This was stated on our website and various booking platforms, regardless, sorry you didn't get this message and that the service was a little slow to your table. Kind regards, Ginny
An utterly, disappointing experience on every level. From conversations we had with other diners we were not alone in feeling that overall the food was awful. The turkey choice looked like a processed meal, It was cold & unappealing, the fish choice was dry & the desserts overly sweet & not long out of a microwave.
The service was painfully slow, despite a full team of staff , who seemed unable to answer queries & the whole thing judt felt inefficient . My daughter sent her meal back & was not offered an alternative or apology nor were we given a credit on the bill.
The only redeeming feature of the entire meal was the recommended wine.
We have eaten here before but based on yesterdays experience We will not return agsin.
We apologize. Christmas day was very tough for our group. Despite record staff sickness and self-isolations, transport and supplies challenges, we made the decision to open on Christmas day anyway. Maybe we should not have done. We know that the vast majority of our customers had a wonderful day, but we are aware that some did not - they have been quite explicit about it in reviews. We are very sad about that. If/when things get back to normal, we will contact you to offer a meal on the house.
Really average and overpriced meal. Passive/disengaged service.
Horrible food and service! Not recommend! Overpriced!
Lovely Christmas meal at 28-50, food all cooked very nicely and tasted excellent.
Dear Robert, Thank you for taking the time to review us and for your lovely comments. The team are delighted to hear you loved the food and we hope to see you back soon. Kind regards, Ginny
Very rude staff. My mother came to visit me from abroad for Christmas
. We were met with a rude staff who did not meet the service expectations.
Dear Ramiy, We sincerely apologize. Christmas was very tough for our group. We know that the vast majority of our customers had a wonderful experience, but we are aware that some did not - they have been quite explicit about it in reviews. We are very sad about that. Kind regards, Ginny
Friendly staff and a good menu with obviously an amazing wine list. Not the biggest selection, but the lunch deal was good value.
Dear Nikki, Thank you for your kind review, especially for your comments on the staff who have worked so hard during the busy month of December. Our wine list is really what sets us apart from the rest so we are delighted you thought it amazing! We hope to welcome you back soon. Kind regards, Ginny
We had the large seafood platter and burger, both very good. Although the small clams that came with the platter could be fresher, the rest is very good..
Thank you for sharing your kind comments, we are really delighted you enjoyed the burger and seafood platter. We hope to see you back with us soon. Kind regards, Ginny
Lovely lunch. Such a shame that it was not a little busier. Good service and lovely food
Dear Nikkir, Thank you for taking the time to review us and your comments really mean a lot to us in such a difficult time for the hospitality industry. We hope to welcome you back in 2022! Kind regards, Ginny
The interior feels slightly odd, essentially tables around a large bar area but nicely spaced and the food and wine were good - both quality and price wise. Would recommend,
Hi Penny, Thank you for your review, we are very happy to hear you liked the food and wine. We hope to see you back with us soon. Kind regards, Ginny
The food was really poor, both my friend and I had starters that were tasteless, my main course was over cooked and my friend thought his fish was reheated.
Our waitress was really nice and offered us a free meal on another occasion.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. Sorry to hear about the food, however I am very glad to hear that you were offered a complimentary meal on us to apologise for the disappointment. Do let us know when you would like to re-book and we will make sure you are really looked after. Kind regards, Ginny
A reasonable meal but our lunch was ruined by poor service. Our waitress clearly thought her job was beneath her and had nothing but competent for her customers.
Hi there, Really sorry to hear about your experience. We are in the process of investigating your comments and will take action as necessary. Kind regards, Ginny
Decided on 28-50 for a first date, waited 15mins by the door to attract attention of staff to be seated.
Eventually was seated on a table with barely enough room for one person.
Managed to get moved after 30mins to another table which was worse, sat in a walk way where I kept being knocked by staff and guests walking past.
I have been to the place previously and clearly it was crammed with more covers than it has capacity.
Main course arrived before drinks and olives. Had to request waitress twice to bring drinks, which took sometime to arrive and the food got cold.
Was charged for olives which I ordered but didn't recieve despite requesting again.
Ordered red wine by the glass 250ml (×2) which was listed at £10 per glass but billed at £14.20.
Effectively I over paid; Olives 4.50, 2 x 4.20 for the red wine and 8.95 for poor service which was optional but added to final bill without question. So overpaid £21.85.
I was not in a position to dispute the bill and create a scene in front of my date, so paid and left.
Lovely atmosphere! Staff could have been more attentive - we had to keep calling them over when we wanted something and had to ask for the bill 3 times. We started with the cheese and charcuterie board which was delicious. There was a lot of miscommunication with the mains. I wanted a chicken supreme but without truffle. I mentioned if it wasn’t possible to remove the truffle, if I could substitute the potatoes with chips or another side. The chips, firstly, came before the sharing board (they were meant to go with the main). Then when the main arrived, the chicken itself looked miserable on a huge bowl, which the chips arrived in its own pot separately. My friend also ordered the chicken supreme (with truffle) and hers was presented in such a lovely manner. I didn’t expect a side substitution to cause so much trouble - next time I’ll order something completely different in the hope to not have to substitute an ingredient that I do not like. Then when the bill arrived, they charged for the chips… despite it again being a substitute for the truffle potatoes! This whole experience definitely made me feel like I’d asked for something extremely complicated, when in reality, it was meant to be easy and simple.
Dear Lobi, Many thanks for taking the time to review us, despite it being disappointing for us. It seems that much of your experience has come down to miscommunication, which the industry sees a lot of (of so many people who work in restaurants, English isn't their first language), however, I am sorry that this led to leaving a bitter taste in your mouth. We do hope you try us again - please get in touch with me if you would and I will make sure you are looked after. Regards, Ginny
We had a lovely late meal at 28-50. It has a triangular shaped dining area with the bar in the middle. Three of us sat in the far corner at the top of the stairs, but it was not a cramped or busy location. The 3 main courses we ate were hake, risotto and celeriac bake together with a shared salad - the food was very good, well plated and good portion size. We shared a bottle of Malbec which was lovely.
The service was very good.
The venue was chosen for to its proximity to the Wigmore Hall and its vegetarian and vegan options. We were not disappointed and would dine there again.
Busy and vibrant, our wines were amazing. The cheese and charcuterie we ordered, was nothing impressive but ok for the wine.
service was shocking - rude staff - we come here a lot so was very disappointing
Friendly and accommodating staff.
Food was nice.
Good food and ambience, great wine. If you love wine, go!
It took 15 minutes before we got a drink. After 1,5 hours we got our main course. The bread we asked for, never arrived. The place is lovely, the food is good but overpriced.
Hi there, Thank you for reviewing us and I am glad you enjoyed the food at 28-50. Sorry about the slow service, times are very hard at the moment with a huge shortage of staff in London and with the run up to Christmas being even busier than previous years. We hope you decide to try us again. Kind regards, Ginny
Overall enjoyed the night, good company, tasty food, service could have been a little more attentive but were pleasant otherwise.
Hi there, Thank you for your review. Really glad you enjoyed the food with us when you visited. Thank you for pointing out the service... Christmas is a particularly busy period for all restaurants in London and our staff always do their best however, I'm sorry it may have been a little less attentive than usual. Kind regards, Ginny
My husband and I came to 28-50 when we first got married and it's stuck with us as one of our favorite restaurants that we would reminisce about.
Last night I took my husband here for his 31st birthday.
For 2 courses and 2 glasses of wine we paid £135. We drove to hours to get to the restaurant and I had saved up money over a course of months for the evening.
Sadly it was not a meal to match the occasion.
We had just finished our starters when a waiter asked us if we wanted tea or coffee before he bought us the bill.
My husbands main was hard for him to stomach. He had the Hake, which was cooked well...but the sauce it sat on tasted as he described like 'toilet cleaner'.
My steak came well done when I had asked for medium rare.
We just didn't feel like we got the service or experience we have had years before and certainly not the experience we would hope to have on the night of a loved ones birthday.
We felt uncomfortable making a scene or a fuss and so we skipped dessert and set off back home.
I felt embarrassed that my husband hadn't got the birthday meal he probably wanted. After all this was my gift to him this year.
Hi Beth, I am deeply sorry about your experience, and more so that the evening you wanted to make special didn't turn out to be that at all. We really want to make it up to you. Please get in touch with me (Ginny) directly via call. Kind regards, Ginny
It is a very small restaurant with LOTS of customers. We were struggling to hear each other. Our table for 6 was in fact two tables for two stuck together and it was so close to the window, that I have banged my head twice on their frame. It is really nothing special. I probably wouldn't have minded, if I just have popped in, but I relied on the reviews here and made a reservation a week in advance. Really isn't worth it. The so called "great choice of wines" is in fact around 10 cheap ones and around 5 more expensive ones. They charge you 12.5% service charge and when you leave, there is not anyone even to look your way.
Food was ok, we found it was very bland. My husband's lamb only had 3 tiny slices of meat. It was also barely warm.
The overall experience- it is not for a special occasion. Maybe for a quick drink with friends and a chat.
And they did not have any baby changing facilities.
Amazing experience! The stuff was incredible so helpful and kind. Thank you so much for everything. I am extremely grateful for your help and organising my birthday celebration.
Dear Karolina, Thank you for sharing your very kind comments and we look forward to welcoming you again. Kind regards, Ginny
