2 Bridge Place
The Risotto was awful - very dry - I sent it back and just had the cheesecake which was very good. Unfortunately my server was very difficult to deal with throughout - she did not listen to me when I sent it back and ordered me another one. I got her to cancel it and then struggled to get her to remove the cost of the entree and the associated service charge. The issue was partly language barrier and partly attitude. In the end I was able to resolve it to my satisfaction but it took persistence. A first for me for a Hilton restaurant.
We were looking for an upscale restaurant near our hotel that did not have its own restaurant. This came up on TripAdvisor. We were able to book a table here when every other place was booked solid. Service was good meal was very good.
Arrived at restaurant who had no notice of our reservation through Open Table, fortunately restaurant was empty and seating was not an issue. Food was OK, would not rush back.
The waiter knew we were pre theatre. We arrived for our booking at 5:30pm and did not get our drinks until 6pm. We ordered main courses - the aubergine looked nice but the roast beef and yorkshire puddings were very disappointing. The meat was overcooked and dry. The yorkshires were Aunt Bessies!!! There was no gluten free gravy and no horseradish sauce. If you have roast beef on a menu the least you can do is provided horseradish and proper home made yorkshire puddings. Nothing could be easier. The service was slow and overall I expected much better than this from the Hilton. This did not provide value for money.
We ate here for breakfast and enjoyed eggs over medium with hash browns, toasts and bacon. It was prepared well and was hot and flavorful. The staff were friendly and helpful in suggesting we could pre order our buffet breakfast the next morning for less as we were staying at the hotel.
No atmosphere, nice staff but didn't sort out drinks at the beginning. Food quality was good but too expensive.
No one came over to get our drinks. When I got up to go and get a waiter myself he did not have a pad on him. Impatient to wait further I suggested he just took the order without a pad.
We were then told the steak would be 25 minutes, so I pushed and got that changed to 15 minutes. I don't know how many people were ordering from the hotel but the restaurant was empty so I couldn't see a reason for the food to take so long.
Wouldn't go back due to price and lack of atmosphere.
i booked this on a deal with Groupon and because it was convenient to station for my friends coming from far away. There was a mix up because i booked online as I was told to once i purchased the deal, assumed all was now fine ; but the restaurant insisted they still required the 'paper' version of the booking with a bar code. I was not informed about this beforehand and was a very embarrassing and stressful 20 mins on hotel computer to resolve running back and forward to waiting staff member. a nightmare.
At the start, we informed the waiting staff we would like to upgrade to a dessert with our meal as per the advert. they said that was fine.
carrot soup with honey, very bland, tasted too sweet with not much carrot flavour and yet the waitress suggested it was just the best thing! The chicken was overcooked and therefore dried out. I managed to eat all mine as parts of it were moist but my friend gave me some of hers and it was even worse. My other friend who had pasta appeared happy with it.
We waited to be offered dessert and were talking a lot as we were having a reunion so we waited on them as opposed to asking but eventually we just had to ask because we were basically being ignored once we'd had our main. not a soul came up to us not even to offer coffee. If we had not filled up on bread and butter at the start we would have been still hungry. We were then told that we were too late for dessert and they were laying tables for breakfast. The time was only 10pm. I feel we were discriminated against for having an 'offer' and treated worse than others there. I was very disappointed as the reason I upgraded is because I have a sweet tooth so pudding was very important to me, and also because we had told them at the start! won't go there again as a result and have complained to Groupon about the mess-up with the paperwork.. no idea yet if that part is down to hotel or groupon but it also almost spoilt our reunion.
The food and the service were both very good at 2 Bridge Place, and at just over £50 for two for a three course dinner with a glass of wine I thought it was good value too (dining from their pre-theatre menu). The only downside to 2 Bridge Place is that is obviously a hotel dining room (for the Hilton DoubleTree), comfortable, reaonably modern and bland.
I had a lovely evening meal celebrating my birthday. Very attentive service, and fabulous food. My husband a coeliac was well catered for requiring a gluten free diet.
I did not specify it was my birthday on booking but I guess the waiter must have heard me talking as after our meal the waiter brought me a lovely piece of cake with happy birthday written on the plate in a fruit coulis and each of us a small box with chocolate truffles inside..
The food was below average. I sent back my pulled pork starter because I couldn't find the pork amongst the fat! The waiter apologised profusely but it was still on the bill. The rest of the food was not worth the money either, however the waiter was attentive.
Dined with a small group of friends after work. Chose this venue as convenient for Victoria station. Staff were confused as to which menu we should have even though we had not booked on a special offer. First menu was hastily withdrawn. We were not allowed to have the Menu shown on website as this was apparently only for the bar area not the restaurant, even though this was just a few tables away. We were given a table in a very draughty location and were only reluctantly allowed to move a couple of feet to a slightly warmer spot even though there were better tables available. These were apparently being saved for people who never materialised. Food was ok and nicely presented but overall we did not feel welcome and I felt embarrassed for having suggested this venue. Ww certainly won't be returning..
This was a return visit for us..our last visit was afternoon tea which was lovely. Sadly this time wasnt so great. Table booked for 12 pm as we had tickets for show at 2.30pm.. greeted and seated quickly...drink order took a while to take and deliver to table.. restaurant at this time had 3 tables of 2 people...friend had soup and steak panni..i had fish and chips ..there was no pre theatre menu. Food order took ages to be taken..some lost in translation problems with the order...we finally got our food at 13.15..restaurant appeared quiet...but i appreciate that it may have been busier than appeared for kitchen staff....asked for vinegar for my fish and chips...finally when it arrived it was balasamic not malt and waitress didnt understand this. Plates never cleared..not asked if we wanted other drinks ...they missed out as we had already decided that we wanted a dessert and coffee...but no one around to ask for either. We finally got the attention of another waitress and we asked for the bill...we left at 14.05 ..it was a disappointing lunch...ideal location for victoria palace theatre though...but on this occasion...service very poor...food not great...left disappointed...
My daughter and I visited London and made reservations for 2 Bridge Place after reading about it in our London Pass Dinner Card booklet. Our meals were wonderful! My daughter's fillet steak was grilled perfectly to her liking along with a decent portion of yummy frites and sides of grilled tomatoes and some greens. My dinner was delicious - pan-seared slices of beef tenderloin served over a huge mound of wild mushrooms and surrounded by gnocchi. The location couldn't be better - right across the street from the Victoria Station. The Dinner Card gave us 2 for 1 pricing on the food. Such a deal can't be beat. For foreigners with a weaker currency, it makes the hit to the wallet less hurtful.
I have been coming to the u.k for 12 years.we dine out often.i read the reviews and thought they were harsh.possibly the opposition.we enjoyed our meal and the surroundings.the meal was hot when presented, time between courses was spot on.service was good and the staff made time to chat with us. the location was perfect for us and we shall definitly return
Had a jolly good time
Food was fine, nothing special, most of the set menu mains didn't come with any 'carb' so needed to buy £4 side as well. Service was over the top to begin with - had 4 different people asking if we were ready to order, then when we wanted to get the bill we couldn't find anyone!
Very good location & we were able to have a conversation. The pre theatre menu was good but next time I will choose from the full menu.
Good for a catch up with Friends...
Met up with an old friend and had a table booking last minute. Greeted and attended to well and enjoyed a nice meal that was value for money.
Very nice location, close to Victoria, nice decor and decent food
Pre theatre dinner with my husband!!! Excellent service, staff were aware of theatre times and looked after us accordingly. Would go again. My husband loved the home made soup!!
Good service and friendly staff
This restaurant was awful, no atmosphere, very poor quality of food, its like sitting in a foyer for dinner which was made by my school 20 years ago
Must say the restaurant is well located if one is near Victoria for catching train or flight. The ambience is ok for a quick sit down before travel.
I came here for a Pre-matinee lunch last Saturday with two friends. We arrived early and were shown to our seats with cleaners hoovering around us. We ordered the meat platter to start, and this took about an HOUR to come out, and when it did all it was was cold bland meat on skewers with a couple of chewy cold meatballs - absolutely awful. We then asked to order our mains and were told there would be a half hour wait (we were one of 2 tables in the whole restaurant so not quite sure what that was about), so we said OK. We then waited another hour, and by this time we told them to cancel the mains as we had to get to the show. We ended up just going to M&S. The only plus was that they didn't charge us for the meat platter.
one egg for eggs benedict.. and also took about 30 minutes to come out
I booked a table for lunch on a Tuesday and received confirmatory e-mails and reminders. However when I arrived I was told that the restaurant was closed and that it never opened at lunchtime and that they could only offer bar snacks.
We chose the early bird set menu with some worries (usually smaller portions) but it turned out quite adequate. The service was attentive from arrival to finish, and we had to ask for slow down after we told them we were post theatre, not rushing to go to theatre as they assumed at first.
The value was very good for well cooked interesting food and a good bottle of reasonably priced wine, and with the Top Table offer even better.
Will go again as it is close to Victoria station from where my train leaves.
We went for a valentines day meal as a last minute booking and were very pleasantly surprised. The food was very nice as was the wine, the service although one or two minor elements were missed or not perfect, was generally excellent and on a personal note I would swap the mechanics of service levels for genuinely friendly and helpful staff, which we had throughout the meal. Always smiling, more than happy to help, extremely apologetic when a wine order was temporarily forgotten - it actually felt like we were welcomed guests which is an unusual feeling nowadays! I'd recommend it happily.
I took my husband out for a birthday treat at 2 Bridge Place. Lovely decor, very helpful staff but food was a let down. They were out of the starters I ordered so chose the Parma Ham and Fig salad instead which was just horrid. Chateaubrian was average. Total bill came to £64, I wouldn't mind but the only thing I enjoyed was the bread.
We had the top table 2 courses for 1 offer and the prawns and scallops were simply wonderful. Pork wellington (unusual idea) and the fish were also very good with excellent ansd tasty accompanying vegetables/sauce.
the service was delightful, friendly, efficient, helpful and just the right amount of attention. Great to see a place where service is not automatically added as a percentage - they deserved the large tip they received. Wine by the glass very reasonably priced. Ambience good despite being a hotel dining area, in fact it was very comfortable and we could hold a conversation. Only complaint - the background music was inappropriate for te evening and too intrusive. Otherwise it would have scored higher on ambience.
Fantastic waiter and waitress service.
i was disappoined with 2 Bridge Place. Small portions, food wasn't very hot and the choice not great.
Very convenient for Victoria Apollo; good range of dishes on menu although sides were extra and not in deal
Very near Victoria, quite small with friendly staff.
