I just like this restaurant - I have the same food, same table every time with very good service.
Food was attractive looking but quite forgettable, especially for the price. My shallot and goat cheese tart was very dry, small, and the smattering of unidentifiable puree next to it was bland. Friend's warm pumpkin salad was better. Bread was good. We were bombarded with requests from at least 3 servers to take our order minutes after we first sat down. Then they disappeared. Our food arrived and we had to chase someone to bring our wine. Same when we were ready for the bill. For the price, and for Fortnum's, we expected better. Disappointing, really.

It's a 'proper' restaurant, if you know what I mean. No waiters in Converse or 'small plates'. Just 'proper'. Best risotto I have ever had, and I have eaten a lot. Stunning. I am still thinking about it now. The truffle cheese toasty is very basic indeed and my Breville could do better, and it costs more than the Breville machine itself! Not generous but certainly fair amount of truffle. The cauliflower cheese that arrived with the roast beef was divine. Really good chips. Fabulous knickerbocker Glory.......I'd pop in for one of those on its own anytime. The weak link was the shallot and goats cheese tart, which was pretty poor indeed. The rest of the vegetarian mains selection did not look very interesting or appealing but may well be. Wine list 60-70% margins so top end as one would expect here and with no hidden gems after scouring up and down a few times. Will come back definitely but choose a couple of things differently. Staff are attentive but not at all in your face. Counter seating highly recommended. Thank you 45JS!
Attractive dining-room, very good food. Slightly overpriced (15-20%) and slightly understaffed on that Saturday evening - the waiter presenting the mains (boeuf Wellington, the star dish of the house) was not able to give full attention to it, as he had to assist in welcoming the new guests.
The waiter Gabor deserves a special thanks for his accurate and kind service.

Once again a wonderful meal in a really friendly atmosphere. We have taken several of our guests to eat here and they all love it. The food is good and well cooked. The service is excellent and friendly.

Excellent! Not attempting to be either formal or trendy, but focusing on the quality and preparation of the ingredients, which were superb. Superb foie gras starter and one of the best Dover Sole's I've ever had (and I've had quite a few).

Perfect way to end a days shopping in Fortnums
One of my favourite restaurants during the festive season, unfortunately though this time around, the service was very poor. Drinks orders were not correct twice...very disappointing. Especially since I was dining with an executive from high end liquor company.
Was lovely as usual!!! Food was very good and hot! Only minor gripe was that hot drinks came so quickly they were finished by the time food came!
